Travis Lamont Hudson Sr., 47, of 70 Bryant Road, died Tuesday at his home.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home.

Mrs. Maudie Sheets
Mrs. Maudie Mae Sheets, 85, of 115 Lower Big Springs, died Saturday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Sheets, born October 17, 1915 in LaGrange, was the daughter of the late Andrew and Sarah Pearl Norred Ferguson. She was a private duty nurse and Holiness by faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Stone of West Point and Carol Eady of LaGrange; a son, Hoyt E. Sheets Jr., and a daughter - in - law Christine Sheets of LaGrange; 20 grandchildren, 32 great - grandchildren, and six great - great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt E. Sheets Sr., and by her children Ila Sargent, Jackie Buice Sheets and Bobby Joe Sheets, two grandchildren, Travis Sheets and Twyla Cox; and a great - grandchild Montana Buice.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary with the Rev. James Moon and Jonothan Sheets officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
Striffler - Hamby Mortuary, 1010 Mooty Bridge Road is in charge of arrangements.

George Underwood
Georgia M. Underwood, 81, of 620 Old Hutchinson Mill Road, died Saturday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Underwood, born February 27, 1920 in Roanoke, Ala., was the son of the late John Bob and Abrill Rice Underwood. He had lived in LaGrange most of his life and retired after 26 years from the United States Army. Mr. Underwood was a United States Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He received the Purple Heart and two oak leaf clusters. Mr. Underwood was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lucile Underwood; two sons and a daughter - in - law, Wayne and Linda Underwood of Midwest City, Okla., and Tommy Underwood of LaGrange; a granddaughter, Angela Johnson of Choctaw, Okla.; three sisters, Evelyn, Edna, and Ezelle; three brothers, Roland, Hilt, and Eugene; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Shadowlawn cemetery with Pastor David Melton officiating.
Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Howard Harris
Howard Harris, 62, of Franklin, died Sunday at his home.
Mr. Harris, born March 21, 1939, in Heard County, was the son of the late Henry and Sephy Dell Fomby Harris. He was employed as a mechanic with Savannah Sugar Refinery in Clewiston, Fla. before returning to Franklin in 1993.
Survivors include three daughters and sons - in - law, Tammy and Tommy Davis of Franklin, Kelly and Larry Heath of LaGrange, and Deborah and Ronnie Kelley of Lanett, Ala.; a son, Howard Harris Jr of Marietta; two sisters, Lottie Moody of Hogansville and Margaret Woodruff of Indiantown, Fla., nine grandchildren; and six great - grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Orman Harcrow officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight.

J. Harold Troy
J. Harold (Jim) Troy of Bristol, Va., died Saturday at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Va. He had lived in Bristol for the past 27 years.
Mr. Troy, born August 24, 1925 in Nuremburg, Va., was the son of the late Harold O. and Treda Applegate Troy. He lived in Monroeville, Pa., and LaGrange, before moving to Bristol in 1974. Mr. Troy attended Bliss Electrical College and Penn State University, receiving a electrical engineering degree. He retired from Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Abington in 1988 after 42 years of service. He served in the United States Navy during World War II on board of the USS North Carolina. While living in Pennsylvania, he was a 32 degree Mason, and was actively involved as a Boy Scout Master and volunteer fire chief.
Mr. Troy was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Sunday School class, Joy Sunshine Senior Citizen Club, and Gideons West Camp. During the past year, he was a guest columnist for the Bristol Herald - Courier and served as tutor in the Literacy Program in Abingdon. He was a volunteer and past officer of Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) and was a member of Volunteer Bristol.
Survivors include two daughters and a son - in - law, Linda and Don Hager of Bridgewater, Va., and Laura Troy of Bristol; a son and daughter - in - law, Buddy and Jayne Troy of Atlanta; a brother, Elwood W. Troy of Knoxville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; four great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, June Nicolodi Troy, and a son, John Robert and his mother and father.
There will be no viewing of the body, however a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Nuremburg, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gideons West Camp or The American Cancer Society.
Akard Funeral Home, 1912 West State St., Bristol, Tenn. 37620. is charge of arrangements.

Jack Edward Jeter
Jack Edward Jeter, 73, of Hogansville, died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Jeter lived in Hogansville all of his life, was a member of Trinity Worship Center of Hogansville and retired from Uniroyal.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Hay Jeter, a daughter and son - in - law, Elaine and Vandy Vandiver; a son and daughter - in - law, Van and Traci Jeter, all of Hogansville; a sister, Dorothy Oliver of Winsboro, S.C.; six grandchildren, Holly Vandiver, Heather Vandiver, Scott Jeter, Stacy Jeter, Matthew Jeter and Bailey Jeter; and a great - grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Eddie Jeter.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the Revs. James Calhoun and David Craven officiating.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to The American Heart Association.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Katie Dunn Fanning of Detroit, Mich., died October 3 in Detroit.
Local survivors include a son and daughter - in - law, the Rev. William and Teresa Fanning of West Point; a daughter and son - in - law, Deborah and Eddie Bridges of LaGrange; a stepdaughter, Mattie Lou Hairston of LaGrange; a brother, Herschel Dunn of LaGrange; a daughter - in - law, Mary Fanning of West Point; and several grandchildren; great - grandchildren and other relatives.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lomax Temple A.M.E. Zion Church on DeQuindre Street in Detroit, Mich., with the church pastor officiating.
Barksdale Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel at 1120 E. State Fair St., in Detroit, Mich., 48203 is directing services.

Mrs. Sandra Essex
Mrs. Sandra Essex, 45, of 64 Hood Road died Thursday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Essex was born April 19, 1956 in Meridian, Miss. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and was a former employee of Ryan's Family Steak House.
She is survived by one son and daughter - in - law, Christopher and Sharie Hester; her mother, Ann Tanner; one sister, Linda Rutledge; one brother, James Rutledge; and one granddaughter, Brittany Hester; all of LaGrange.
Funeral arrangements are pending. Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Tommie G. Norred
Tommie G. Norred, 57, of 106 Brittney Lane, died Saturday at his home.
Mr. Norred, born April 16, 1944 in LaGrange, was the son of Rosa Roye Norred and the late Tommie E. Norred. He had lived in LaGrange all of his life and retired after 33 years with Bell South as an electronic technician/computer specialist. He earned 30 plus training certificates and awards of merit and was a life - time member of Communications Workers of America, serving as both Local Union President and Union Steward throughout his years of service. Mr. Norred was a 1963 graduate of Troup High School, lettering as a varsity football trainer and earning a vocational seal. He was a 16 year veteran of the Georgia National Guard as an E - 6 Staff Sergeant for Company C - 560th Engineer Battalion. Mr. Norred was a Scottish Rite Mason of Union Lodge #28 and served as Worshipful master in 1987. He was a member of LaGrange Shrine Club. He was a founding member of The Troup County Taxpayer's Association and served as committee chairman in 1991 - 1992. Mr. Norred was active in local politics.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his two daughters and son - in - law, Sherry Lynn Carter of LaGrange and Kristie Ann and Keith Hart of West Point; four grandchildren, Christopher and Caitlin Carter of LaGrange and Tori and Serah Hart of West Point; three brothers and three sisters - in - law, Jerry and Gloria Norred and Johnny and Rosalyn Norred, all of LaGrange and Jimmy and Claire Electra Norred of Jonesboro; several nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Vickie Davis of LaGrange.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday from Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home with the Rev. Fitzgerald Brown officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn cemetery with Masonic Rites.
The family will be at 106 Brittney Lane and will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 9.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Hospice LaGrange in memory of Mr. Norred.

Hayden H. Harriss
Hayden H. 'Buck' Harriss, 80, of LaGrange died Thursday at his home.
Mr. Harriss, who was born in Jacksonville, Fla., had lived in Atlanta where he practiced Architecture. His career included work on many downtown Atlanta buildings, notably Colony Square, Downtown Hilton Complex and the Atlanta Journal Constitution building.
He was chief architect for Parsons Brinkerhoff Tudor during the design and initial construction of MARTA.
Mr. Harriss served during World War II and trained at Douglas Air Force Base. He won a Distinguished Flying Cross while flying P - 51 Mustangs in the 20th Air Force as a reconnaissance pilot in Italy from Anzio to Florence.
While there he met and married his late wife, Nora 'Muggsie' McGinnis, an Army nurse.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Helen Harriss, his four children, Sheri Harriss Banks, Ginny Harriss, Scott Harriss, and Jim Harriss; seven grandchildren, two great - grandchildren; four step - children, Stephen Thompson, Scott Thompson, Brent Thompson and Anne Thompson; and eight step - grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Red Cross 9 - 11 fund or to Episcopal Relief and Development, September 11 Disaster, Box 12043, Newark, N.J. 07101 USA.

Mrs. Joan P. Barber
Mrs. Joan Patricia Barber, 66, of 109 Teaver Road, died Thursday at her home.
Mrs. Barber, born November 14, 1934 in Arlington, Va., was the daughter of the late Robert Gurley and Erma Cornelia Marsh Cox. She was a former licensed practical nurse at West Georgia Medical Center. Mrs. Barber was a member of Ayres United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Henry Barber of LaGrange; four daughters and three sons - in - law, Margaret and Bob Zamor of Glenn, Ruth Barber, Donna and Tommy Gresley, all of LaGrange and Paula and Greg Caldwell of Ranburne, Ala.; three sons and three daughters - in - law, Charles and Bobbie Jean Barber of Conyers, Robert and Holly Barber and Harold and Tina Barber, all of LaGrange; a sister, Gay Fries of Manassas, Va.; a brother, Russell Cox of Owings, M.d.; nine grandchildren, Frederick, Andy, Brandy, Dornan, Anna, Morgan, Courtney, Mary Margaret and G.W.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home with the Rev. Brett Mathews.
The family will be at the home of her daughter and son - in - law, Donna and Tommy Gresley, at 220 Williams Road and will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.
