Augusta Nelson
Ms. Augusta Nelson, 71, of 801 Hines St. died Wednesday at her residence.
Ms. Nelson, born March 9, 1931, in West Point, was the daughter of the late Will and Lela Barrett.
Survivors include five sons, Wilson Barrett, Roy Barrett, Wilbur Barrett, Willie Nelson and Nelson Truitt; three daughters, Mary Hardnett, Mary Birdsong and Augusta Birdsong; two sisters, Lela Sand and Willie Kate Thompson; 14 grandchildren and 12 great - grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Valley Grove Baptist Church at 126 Grady St. with the Rev. C.W. Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Chapel United Methodist Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted, and the family will be at the home of Wilson and Dorothy Barrett at 209 S. Dawson St.

Charles E. Richardson
Charles Ely Richardson, 75, of LaGrange, died Saturday at West Georgia Medical Center. He was born July 7, 1927 in Cleburne County, Ala., the son of Lunie E. and Annie Nolen Richardson. He had lived in LaGrange since 1946 and was a retired electrician.
Mr. Richardson was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers local union 613 and was an active member of Callaway Baptist Church and also the Senior Citizen Center.
Survivors include two sons, Byron Richardson of Montevallo, Ala. and Bobby L. Richardson of Gaylesville, Ala.; a daughter, Susan Adkins of LaGrange; a brother, L.B. Richardson of LaGrange; four sisters, Addie Johnson and Marie Gay, both of Bowdon, Gladys Swafford of Heflin, Ala., and Jewel Voluere of West Memphis, Ark.; and four grandchildren, Tonya Vaughn of Meridian, Miss., Zac Swann of Boston, Mass., Nic Swann of LaGrange, and Shannon Richardson of Atlanta.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Callaway Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Goldridge Baptist Church cemetery in Ranburne, Ala., Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. (EST).
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Earl Prescott
Earl Prescott, 93, of Hogansville, died Sunday at Franklin Healthcare Center.
Mr. Prescott, born June 16, 1909 in Randolph County, Ala., was the son of the late Robert Alvin Prescott and the late Mary Rice Prescott. He had lived in Hogansville since 1958, was a member of the Baptist faith, and was retired from the Dunson Division of West Point Pepperell Manufacturing Company.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bessie Holloway Prescott; a son and daughter - in - law, William and Linda Prescott, all of Hogansville; a daughter, Faye Prescott of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; a grandson and granddaughter - in - law, David Earl and Shelley Prescott of Hogansville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Prescott.
Funeral services will be at 2. p.m. Tuesday at the graveside in Hillview East cemetery with the Rev. Jesse Sims officiating.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Hogansville Senior Center in memory of Mr. Prescott.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville.

Mrs. Marion Patten, 90, of the Vernon Woods Retirement Community, died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13 in the Shadowlawn Cemetery.

Ronald B. Watford
Ronald Buren 'Ron' Watford, 59, of West Point, died Saturday, Nov. 9 at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Watford, born May 3, 1943 in Dothan, Ala., was the son of Melba Whiddon Watford and the late Martin Vanburen Watford. He was a graduate of Central High School in Phenix City, Ala.
Mr. Watford was a salesman for Lukken Chevrolet - Oldsmobile Geo in LaGrange. He had also been in the grocery business for some 30 years and had been an insurance salesman. He was an active member at Reeds Chapel Baptist Church where he served on several committees. Mr. Watford loved to fish an play golf.
Survivors in addition to his mother of Auburndale, Fla., include his wife, Sharon Tenney Watford of West Point; step - daughter and spouse, Dawn (John) Fuller of LaGrange; three sons and their spouses, Wayne (Terri) Watford of Smiths, Ala., Jerry (Lori) Watford of Hogansville, and Marty Watford of LaGrange; step - sons, James Creed and Jack Creed, both of West Point; two brothers and their spouse, Roger (Sue Watford and Joe (Judy) Watford, both of Lake Hamilton, Fla.; a sister, Wanda (Robert) Brown of Auburndale, Fla; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Reeds Chapel Baptist Church of West Point with the Rev. Chris King officiating. Burial will be in the Reeds Chapel Baptist Church cemetery in West Point.
The family will receive friends at McCarthy Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 9 p.m.

Vernon E. Knopp
Vernon E. Knopp, 74, died Sunday at the VA Medical Center in Decatur.
Mr. Knopp, born June 12, 1928 in Carroll County, was the son of the late Benjamin and Delta S. Holdridge Knopp. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy, a member of Mountville Baptist Church, was inactive deacon, and member of the American Legion Post 75 and Disabled American Veterans, and a lifetime member of both.
Mr. Knopp was employed at the LaGrange Police Department from 1951 to 1961 and Georgia Highway Express later changing to Transus for 27 years before retiring.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Cynthia Highfield Knopp; two sons and daughters - in - law, Tony and Sherri Knopp, Tim and Lori Knopp; four grandchildren, Ryan, Gina, Jacob, and Emily Knopp; two sisters and brothers - in - law, Kathryn and Jay Knight, all of LaGrange, Judy and Jim Dunn of Cave Springs, sister - in - law and brother - in - law, Joyce and Bill Guthrie of Townly, Ala; a sister - in - law, Lorene Knopp of LaGrange; and a brother - in - law, Hudson Highfield of Stockbridge; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 in the chapel of Striffler - Hamby Mortuary with the Revs. Jay Knight and Milton Whitlock officiating. Interment will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

Ms. Cheryl Jean Paden of 301 Broad St. died Thursday at her residence.
Born in Atlanta, Ms. Paden lived here most her life. She was formerly employed by the Troup County school system and was a member of First Baptist Church on the Square.
Survivors include her parents, Pierce E. and Joyce K. Paden of LaGrange; a sister and brother - in - law, Brenda Joyce and Gary Isbell; a niece, Selena Isbell; and a nephew, Clifton Isbell, all of of Fairplay, S.C.
Graveside services will be at Oconee Memorial Park in Seneca, S.C., at 1 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Don Corley officiating.

Randy S. Shelnutt
Mr. Randall Steven Shelnutt, 39, of 2 Sanford St. died Friday at Emory - Cartersville Medical Center.
Mr. Shelnutt, born March 30, 1963, in LaGrange, was the son of the late Bobby Winfred St. and Frances Louise Wright Shelnutt. He lived here most of his life and was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Columbus. He served six years in the National Guard and was a heavy - equipment operator.
Survivors include a daughter, Brandy Louise Shelnutt of LaGrange; two sisters, Donna Cox of Newnan and Angie Fenn of LaGrange; and three brothers, Bobby W. Shelnutt Jr. of Hapeville, Danny M. Shelnutt of LaGrange and Timothy Shelnutt of Newnan.
He was the grandson of the late Walter and Mildred Wright.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Hunter - Allen - Myhand Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Hillview East Cemetery.
The family will be at Mr. Shelnutt's residence and will receive friends 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Flowers are accepted.
