Charlene Johnson
Charlene Johnson, 67, of LaGrange, died Saturday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Funeral services for Mrs. Charlene Johnson will be at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Striffler - Hamby Mortuary. Dr. Ralph Taylor will officiate. Entombment will be in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
The family will greet friends this evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Striffler - Hamby Mortuary, 1010 Mooty Bridge Road is in charge of the arrangements.

Georgia Woodard
Mrs. Georgia Mae Woodard, 83, of 717 Colquitt St., died December 12, 2002 at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Woodard, born November 20, 1919 in Meriwether County, was the daughter of the late Render and Fannie Parks Williams. She was a retired dietician for a day care center.
Mrs. Woodard joined the Springfield Baptist Church in Greenville at an early age and later moving to Troup County and became a very active member of the Central Baptist Church where she served as an usher for many years.
Mrs. Woodard was president of the Rochelle Federated Club, active member of the Eastern Star, a member of The Golden Age Club, and the Friendly Female Club.
Survivors include a loving and devoted daughter, Mary Formbly; two devoted sons, Willie and Yvette Woodard and Jerry Woodard, all of LaGrange; a sister, Mrs. Marcene and Warner Green of Greenville; 10 grandchildren; 15 great - grandchildren; a great - great - grandchild, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Woodard Jr., a sister and two brothers.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at Central Baptist Church, 506 Hamilton St. The Rev. J.W. Russell Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in the Southview Cemetery.
The family will be at her residence at 717 Colquitt St.
Lakes - Dunson - Robertson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mac Samuel Wallace
Mac Samuel Wallace, 76, of LaGrange, died Saturday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Wallace, born December 20, 1925 in Douglas County, was the son of the late Samuel and Hilda Sibley Wallace. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Europe during World War II. He was retired from Stanley Used Cars in Hapeville and was member of Wehadkee Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter and son - in - law, Virginia Ann and Ronald Helton of LaGrange; grandchildren, Mark and Tina Helton of LaGrange, John Richard Goss of Anchorage, Alaska, Jerry Mac and Kim Goss of Newnan, and Dusty Helton of LaGrange, great - grandchildren, Holly and Cody Helton of LaGrange, Amanda Goss of Anchorage, Alaska, James and Daniel Bush of Newnan, and Kaitlyn and Jarred Helton of LaGrange; a nephew and niece, Douglas and Belinda Harwell of Jackson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lottie Randell Wallace.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2002, from the chapel of Striffler - Hamby Mortuary. The Revs. Olin McClain and Nick Pilgrim will officiate. Entombment will be in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum with full military honors.
The family will be at Mr. Wallace's home at 114 Twelve Oaks Drive and will greet friends this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Tommie Freeman
Mrs. Tommie Sue Davis Freeman, 90. of 607 Lakewood Drive, died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Freeman, born September 6, 1912, in Heard County, was the daughter of the late William Burt and Eula Mae Humphreys Davis. She had lived here most of her life and retired from the Georgia Department of Labor with 39 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church on the Square.
Survivors include three granddaughters and their spouses, Angie Freeman Short and Dale Short of Shelby, N.C., Alison D. Freeman of LaGrange and Amy Freeman Todd and Philip Todd of Shelby, N.C.; five great - grandchildren; and two special friends, Lois McDonald and Mary Shephard, both of LaGrange. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph B. Freeman Sr., and her son, Joseph B. Freeman Jr.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Shadowlawn cemetery with the Rev. Chris Davis officiating.
The family will be at her home and will receive friend this evening at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home from 7 until 9.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to the Joseph B. Freeman Jr. Scholarship Fund, Garner - Webb College, P.O. Box 997, Development Office, Bowling Springs, N.C., 28017.

Raymond V. Poole
Raymond Vison Poole, 72, of LaGrange, died Saturday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Poole was the son of the late Randolph and Minnie Lee Higginbotham Poole. He was born November 23, 1930 in LaGrange. Mr. Poole served in the United States Army, was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, and retired from Tredegar as an inspector.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons - in - law, Pat and Wayne Wilcox of Gonic, N.H., Sue and Mike Yearwood of Franklin, and Cora Brown of LaGrange; a son, Randy Poole of LaGrange; a brother, Ben Poole of Cusseta, Ala.; a sister, Lily Donaldson of Indianapolis, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great - grandchildren; and a special friend, Janice Philpott of LaGrange.
Funeral services for Mr. Poole will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002 in the chapel of the Striffler - Hamby Mortuary with the Rev. Doug Porter officiating. Burial will be in the Shadowlawn Cemetery. The family will be receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society of America Georgia Chapter, 1447 Peachtree St., N.E. Suite 601, Atlanta, Georgia 30309 in memory of Mr. Poole.

Doris Armstrong
Miss Doris (Dot) Armstrong, 77, of Pine Mountain, died Friday at Twin Fountains Nursing Home.
Miss Armstrong, born March 29, 1925, in Chipley, was the daughter of the late James Thomas and Margaret Frances Myhand Armstrong. She had lived here all of her life and was a homemaker, enjoying her family and the outdoors. She was Baptist.
Survivors include three sisters, Nancy Armstrong Swint of Columbus, Peggy Armstrong Smith of Pine Mountain, and Myra Armstrong Wright of Bridge City, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Hunter - Allen - Myhand Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Hollaway officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Mountain Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of her sister, Peggy Armstrong Smith, at 504 West Terrace in Pine Mountain and will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 5 to 7 p.m.

Doris Ryan Cosgrove
Mrs. Doris Ryan Cosgrove, wife of the late Joseph O. Cosgrove, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002 at Emory Eastside Hospital in Atlanta. She was a longtime resident of LaGrange, prior to returning home to Oakland, Calif.
Mrs. Cosgrove was one of the founders of the Chattahoochee Art Association and worked with them for a number of years in advertising.
Survivors include a son and daughter - in - law, David and Elizabeth Cosgrove of Duluth; a son and daughter - in - law, Kevin and Patricia Cosgrove of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; and six grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Lee Coughlan of Fresno, Calif.
Arrangements are being handled by the Cremation Society of Georgia in Atlanta and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.

John Darden
John Darden, 72, formerly of LaGrange, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002 in California.
Mr. Darden, born May 16, 1930 in Troup County, was the son of the late Posey and Mary Boykin Darden.
At an early age he united with the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church family and later he moved to Pittsburgh, Pa., where he was a member of the Holiness Church.
Mr. Darden lived in Pittsburgh for more than 30 years and moved to California where he resided for the next 20 years.
Survivors include a devoted wife, Mrs. Ola Darden of California; two sons; a daughter; four stepchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Maud Moody of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Jessie Potts of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Margaret Glenn of Newnan, Mrs. Willie Lee and Leroy Johnson, and Mrs. Bertha and Roosevelt Cameron, all of LaGrange; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will be at the residence of his sister and brother - in - law, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy (Willie Lee) Johnson at 517 Horace King St.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2002 in the chapel of the Lakes - Dunson - Robertson Funeral Home. The Revs. Larry West and Gary Fanning will offiicate. Burial will be in the Southview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Monday at 1 p.m.

Mrs. Vivian Rogers
Mrs. Vivian Denney Rogers, 85, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002 at her residence in Ephesus.
Mrs. Rogers was born in Heard County, July 15, 1917, to the late Newman Edgar and Willie Myrt Shadinger Denney. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Wilford E. Denney, and a brother - in - law, J.D. Muse.
Survivors include her husband, Lonnie Lee Rogers, to whom she was married on November 11, 1939. She is also survived by five children, Karen (Jerry) Rollins and Karleen (Lawrence) Williams of Bowdon, Paige (Emmett) Harrod and Denney (Karen) Rogers of Eephsus, and Sherry (Terry) Lovvorn of Graham, Ala.; nine grandchildren, Roger Harrod, Daniel Harrod, Kayla Harrod McWhorter, Beverly Rollins, Randa Rollins Harris, Barry Rollins, Susan Lovvorn Rice, Joseph Lovvorn, and Laura Williams Robinson; and eight - great - grandchildren.
Mrs. Rogers is also survived by a sister, Eris Muse of Carrollton; four brothers, Felton (Josephine) Denney, Jimmy (Maggie) Denney of Carrollton, Max (Evelyn) Denney of Bremen, and Earl (Barbara) Denney of Gainesville, a sister - in - law, Merle Denney of Roopville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Rogers was a graduate of Roopville School and she attended the A & M. School in Carollton. She ser ved for many years on the West Georgia Regional Library Board and the Heard County Library Board. She was also a charter member of the Ephesus Quilting Ladies and the Heard County Pilot Club. She was an avid reader, quilter, and Sacred Harp singer.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2002 at Ephesus Baptist Church where she was a member. Speakers include the Revs. Tyre Denney, Gerald Rogers, Elder Homer Benefield, and Karen Rollins.
Sacred Harp singers will sing before and during the service. The body will be at the church from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour. Grandchildren and their spouses will serve as pallbearers. The Ephesus Quilting Ladies will be an honorary escort.
The family will receive friends at 3 p.m. this evening at Rainwater Funeral Home in Bowdon.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the cemetery funds at the following churches, Ephesus Baptist, Hopewell Primitive Baptist, Emmaus Primitive Baptist, or to Tanner Hospice.
Rainwater Funeral Home of Bowdon/Stutts Funeral Home of Franklin is in charge of the arrangements.

Amelia McClendon
Amelia 'Pete' McClendon of 800 Borton St., died Tuesday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. McClendon, a native of Troup County, was the daughter of the late Willie Virgil Dallis and Amelia Davenport Dallis. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church where she served on the usher board.
Survivors include a son, Jimmie Gholston of LaGrange; a granddaughter, Kimberly Michelle Gholston of LaGrange; great - grandchild, Kendrick Gholston; three sisters, Rosa Mae Gates of LaGrange, Erma Dallis of Miami, Fla., Lillian Morgan of Columbus, Ohio; and a brother, George Dallis of Brooklyn, N.Y., ; nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry McClendon; a sister, Virgie Kate McCullough and a brother, John Henry Dallis.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Pine Mountain with the Rev. W. L. Tucker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the home of her sister, Rosa Mae Gates at 315 Ragland St.
A service by Mackey - Wilson - Jennings Funeral Home.
