Clarence Ramsey Andrews, 88, of Detroit, Michigan died Friday in Detroit Michigan.
Mr. Andrews was born February 15, 1915, in Harris County.
Ssurvivors include three daughters, Vernola Andrews Stewart, Ellen Andrews Gentry Ionia Ann Andrews Washington; a son, Clarence Correll Andrews, all of Detroit; two sisters, Annie Mae Andrews Bishop of LaGrange, Sarah Andrews Hall of Cleveland, Ohio; and a sister in - law, Lillie Mae Andrews of LaGrange.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hartford Memorial Baptist Church in Detroit.
Swanson Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 14751 West McNichols Road in Detroit is in charge of arrangements.

Leila Kennedy Hill
Mrs. Leila Kennedy Hill, 81, of 355 Costley Road died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Hill, born Aug. 28, 1921, in Gwinnett County, was the daughter of the late John Robert and Chloe Brumbelow Dudley. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Carl Hill of LaGrange; a son and daughter - in - law, James R. and Sally Kennedy of Stockbridge; two daughters and sons - in - law, Sandra and Bill Tallant of Molena and Donna and Rex Garner of Jonesboro; four stepdaughters and their husbands, Debra Morgan of Tyrone, Carla Hill and Tom Pennington of Winder, Wanda and Charles Rehberg of Albany and Linda Hill of Rome; four grandchildren; five step grandchildren; four great - grandchildren; two sisters; Lois Nobles of LaGrange and Lucille Wilson of Loganville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Hunter - Allen - Myhand chapel with the Rev. Colin Ducas officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Hill Baptist Church cemetery in Hampton.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 until 8.

Ralph Cavender
Ralph Cavender, 69, of LaGrange, died Sunday at his home.
Mr. Cavender, born December 6, 1933, in Heard County, was the son of the late Orbie and Essie Irene Norred Cavender. He had lived here all his life and was the former owner of Ralph's Country Store.
Survivors include two daughters, Michele Cavender and Teresa Lynn Cavender; two brothers, Guy Cavender and Noy Cavender; three sisters, Barbara Gann, Marie Malone and Irene Williams; three grandchildren, Daniel Martinez, Adrianna Martinez and Jasmine Rosales, all of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Orbie Cavender and Doyle White.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Hunter - Allen - Myhand chapel with the Revs. Sonny Weldon, Larry Cavender and Tina Lashley officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of his sister, Barbara Gann, at 22 Chase Road and will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 until 9.

Thelon Ashmore Hamby Jr.
Thelon Ashmore (T.A.) Hamby Jr., 87, of Columbus died Monday Feb. 3 2003, at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary Macon Road Chapel with a private entombment in Parkhill Cemetery. A visitation will be this evening from 5 until 7 at the funeral home.
Mr. Hamby, born Jan., 13, 1916, in Atlanta, was the son of Thelon A. and Vivian White Hamby. He had lived in Columbus since 1918 and attended Columbus public school, graduating from Columbus High School. He went to work for D. A. Striffler Company in 1932 and later attended and graduated from Williams College of Embalming in Kansas City, Kan., and became a licensed funeral director in 1937.
Mr. Hamby was a Navy veteran of World War II. He received a degree in mortuary management from the National Foundation of Funeral Service at Northwestern University in 1952. He became Vice President and stockholder of Striffler - Hamby Mortuary in 1954 and was president of Striffler - Hamby Mortuary from 1964 until his semi - retirement in 1990, having grown his business to include locations in Columbus, Phenix City and LaGrange. He was president of The Georgia Funeral Director's Association from 1958 to 1959 and a member of the Board of Directors of the National Selected Morticians for 1974 to 1977, serving as president from 1976 to 1977.
Mr. Hamby was a deacon and member of First Baptist Church of Columbus. He was a mason and a shriner. He was a Paul Harris Fellow and a member of the Rotary Club of Columbus where he was president from 1969 to 1970. He served on the Board of Directors of Family Fund Life Insurance Company, United Family Life Insurance and Interfinancial Holding Company. He was Director Emeritus of Columbus Bank and Trust and was a charter member of the Big Eddy Club, a member of the Country Club of Columbus, and a member of the Friday Friar's Lunch Club.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mary Emma Hamby of Columbus; a daughter and son - in - law, Barbara and Phil Swift of Columbus; a son and daughter - in - law, Thelon and Pat Hamby of LaGrange; a sister Emily Shellnut of Atlanta; a brother, James Hamby of Atlanta; and five grandchildren, Anne Marie Swift, Emmie Swift Chase, Tom Swift, Lucy Hamby and Sarah Hamby.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Columbus Hospice or to a favorite charity in memory of Mr. Hamby.

Willie B. Smith
Willie B. Smith, 62, of 813 Houston St., died Friday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Smith, born April 7, 1940, in Chambers County, Ala., was the son of the late Allen and Mary Willie Smith. He was employed at Sims Lumber Company for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Sue Cameron; a daughter Jessie Faye Reed; four sons, Willie James Reed, Jerry Donnell Smith, William Adam and Shirley Smith and Jimmy Lee Smith, all of LaGrange; eight grandchildren, Johnny Williams of Atlanta, Kyle Wylie of Kentucky, and Patrice Reed, Krystal Smith, Denero Smith, Quathize Dennis, Qutize Dennis, all of LaGrange; five sisters, Annie L. Potts, Virginia and Nelson Copeland Jr., Mary Ann Laurendine, and Bobbie Jean Smith, all of LaGrange and Geneva Hurston of Atlanta; three brothers, Joe Louis and Katherine Smith, Gurson Smith, Douglas and Catherine Smith, all of LaGrange; two sisters - in - law, Leona Webb and Viola and Robert Ramey, all of LaGrange; six brothers - in - law, James Cameron, Rob Cameron, Ray and Patrice Cameron, and Joe and Shirley Cameron, all of LaGrange; Charlie Cameron of New York and Johnny Cameron of California; five aunts, Nettie Winston, Susie Winston, Malinda Kirk Blakely, all of Chattanooga, Tenn., Eula Mae Peters of Opelika, Ala., and Mary Jane Wilson of Salem, Ala., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church at 250 Gordon Road with the Rev. Craig Thornton officiating. Burial wil be in Southview Cemetery.
The family will be at his home.
Lakes - Dunson - Robertson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Carol Worrell Turner
Carol Worrell Turner 41, of LaGrange died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Turner, born December 9, 1961, in Roanoke, Ala., was the daughter of Dick and Rachel Worrell of LaGrange. She lived in Troup County most of her life and was employed with the Troup County Board of Education. She was a member of the First Baptist Church on the Square, a member of the church youth ministry for several years and was involved in the youth soccer and baseball programs through the Troup County Parks and Recreation Department.
In addition to her parents, survivors include three children; Jake Hembree, Lindsay Hembree, and Ella Turner all of LaGrange; two sisters and brothers - in - law, Chris and James Batte' of Springfield, Va., and Carmen and Tim Keeter of Huntsville, Ala.; a grandmother, Clara Johnson of Sanford, Fla. and a grandfather, John R. Bailey of Roanoke, Ala.; one niece, four nephews and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2003, at First Baptist Church on the Square with Dr. Paul R. Baxter, Dr. Bill Pope and the Rev. Bobby Jones officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.

Josh H. Whitfield
Josh H. Whitfield, 61, of Atlanta, formerly of LaGrange, died Thursday.
Mr. Whitfield was the son of the late Jerry and Cumire Whitfield.
Survivors include his wife Virginia Whitfield; sons, Anthony and Alvin Whitfield; daughters Andrea Whitfield Smith and Shandra Denison; a sister, Vivian Jean Whitfield; grandchildren, Quatallis, Shaka, Saasha and Tylar; and two great - grandchildren.
Funeral service will Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Coy C. Williamson Jr. Chapel of the Williamson Mortuary at 1410 Highway 138 S.W. in Riverdale with the rev. Joseph Cox officiating. Entombment will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends this evening at the funeral home from 7 until 8.

Annie Heard Davis
Annie Heard Davis, 66, of 903 Taft St., died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003 at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Davis, born August 16, 1936, in Mount Vernon, was the daughter of the late Robert Wesley and Elizabeth Battle Green.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Gates and Lonnie Johnson Jr.; a son, Daniel Heard and Roberta Scott, all of LaGrange; four sisters, Minnie Pearl Green of Franklin, Sara Green and Mary and Robert Borton, all of Vidalia; and Beulah Green of Mount Vernon; two brothers, Roy Green and Bud Green, both of Vidalia; eight grandchildren and one great - grandchild; a very close friend, Carrie Bass; a sister - in - law, Bell Green of Vidalia; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Lakes - Dunson - Robertson Funeral Home with the Rev. James Chelcy officiating.

Dorotha M. Perdue
Mrs. Dorotha M. (Dottie) Perdue, 79, of Pine Mountain died Thursday in Lawrenceville.
Mrs. Perdue, born May 20, 1923, in Chickamauga, was the daughter of Charlie Thomas and Bonnie Frances Case Edge. She had lived in the area most of her life and retired from Callaway Gardens as a bookkeeper. She was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son and daughter - in - law, Gary Thomas and Betsy Furrow of Lawrenceville; a stepson and stepdaughter - in - law, Floyd and Rita Perdue of Leesburg; three stepdaughters and stepsons - in - law, Glenda and Joseph Wood of Gray, Carolyn and Randy Warren of Pine Mountain and Kay and Butch Bray of LaGrange; seven step grandchildren and a step great - granddaughter.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Rosemont Baptist Church with the Rev. Max McCord officiating. Burial will be in Meriwether Memory Gardens in Manchester.
The family will receive friends at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home Saturday evening from 6 until 8.

Michael Cortez Tiggs
Michael Cortez Tiggs, 31, of 269 Apricot St., in the Odessadale Community died Tuesday at Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston.
Mr. Tiggs, born Sept., 28, 1971, in Meriwether County, was the son of Robert Tiggs and Beatrice Strozier Tiggs. He was a 1990 graduate of Greenville High School and was a self - employed truck driver working with the Ken Green Trucking Company. He was a member of Life in Spirit Church in Mountville.
Survivors in addition to his parents, include his wife, Carol Tiggs; a stepdaughter, Jakayla Rosser; a sister, Sharonda Tiggs, all of Odessadale; grandparents, Tommy L. Strozier and Winnie L. Tiggs; father - in - law and mother - in - law, Willie Rosser and Ida Rosser; two sisters - in - law, Beverly Rosser and Pamela and Roosevelt Hardaway; a brother - in - law, Quinton Rosser; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Branch Hebron Baptist Church in Odessadale with Evangelist Lucille Thornton officiating. Burial will be in the Greenville City Cemetery.
The family will be at his home and at the home of his father, Robert Tiggs at 257 Odessa Road both in Odessadale.
