Olin Hurston Martin
Olin Hurston Martin, 72, of LaGrange, died Wednesday at Florence Hand Home.
Mr. Martin, born December 4, 1930, in Randolph County, Ala., was the son of the late Henry and Avie Harden Martin. He had lived here most of his life and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired as a truck driver for West Point Stevens and was a member of Oakside Baptist Church.
Survivors include three children and their spouses, Randy and Dana Martin of LaGrange, Sherry and Gene Scott of Pine Mountain and Kathy Martin Worthy of Hogansville; four brothers, Harlen Martin, Carlos Martin, Hollis Martin and Rodney Martin, all of LaGrange; a sister, Bernice Hubbard of LaGrange; eight grandchildren; five great - grandchildren; and a very dear cousin, Modenia Smith of Mountville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Grice Martin, a brother, Edward Martin and a sister, Deira Walters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Hunter - Allen - Myhand chapel with Dr. Ralph Taylor and the Rev. Jimmy Pruitt officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

James R. Burnett
James Richard Burnett, 66, of Greenville, died Wednesday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Burnett, born April 16, 1936, in Troup County, was the son of the late James William and Lavaonia Elizabeth Burnett. He retired from Milliken Live Oak Plant and was a member of Cedar Rock Baptist Church in Woodbury. He had also been attending Calvary Worship Center in Mountville for the past year.
Survivors include three daughters, Teresa Hamilton of Greenville, Phyllis Shoemake of Dearing and Dana Lawler of Hogansville; two sons, James Garland Burnett and Timothy Shane Burnett, both of LaGrange; a brother, Eugene Burnett of Huguley Ala.: a sister, Margie Cooley of LaGrange; seven grandchildren and a great - grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy June Burnett.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cox Funeral Home in Manchester with the Rev. Charles Knowles officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Rock Baptist Church cemetery in Woodbury.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 until 8.
Cox Funeral Home in Manchester is in charge of arrangements.

Marie P. Arrington
Marie Painter Arrington, 94, of LaGrange died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at her home.
Mrs. Arrington, born August 17, 1908, in Albertville, Ala., was the daughter of the late J.F. and Dora Isbell Painter. She had lived here most of her life and was a member of First Baptist Church on the Square. She was a retired classroom teacher, having taught in Alabama and Georgia for 32 years. She spent her early years teaching home economics in Alabama and later taught sixth grade for 25 years before retiring from Southwest LaGrange Elementary School. Mrs. Arrington was a member of Troup County Retired Teacher Association and loved working in her garden.
Survivors include a son and daughter - in - law, John E. and Katherine Arrington: and a granddaughter, Martha Elizabeth Arrington, both of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Arrington.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, in the Ida Cason Callaway Chapel of First Baptist Church on the Square with Dr. Paul R. Baxter officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary Friday afternoon from 4 until 6.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to the Gleaners Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1127, LaGrange, Georgia 30241 - 1127.

Sara Mildred Hale
Sara Mildred Hale, of Canton, formerly of 2436 West Point Road, died Wednesday Jan. 22, 2003, at Canton Nursing Center in Canton.
Mrs. Hale had lived in the Baptist Retirement Apartments in Buckhead for six years before moving to Canton. She was a native of LaGrange living here many years and was a member of Ayres Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter and son - in - law, Regina and Michael Buice; a son and daughter - in - law, Michael and Elaine Joseph; two granddaughters and their spouses, Beth and Ray Vogel and Joy and Byron Ivey; four great - granddaughters, Lynn, Shannon, Kara, and Lacey Dolan; a sister and brother - in - law, Mary and Rob Smith of LaGrange; two nieces, Janice Smith and Nona Christy and a nephew, Billy Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Hale.
Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Striffler - Hamby - Mortuary with the Rev. Floyd Tenney officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends this evening from 5 until 7 at the funeral home.
Striffler - Hamby Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Shirley Kay Greene Harris, 55, died Sunday, January 19, 2003 in Richland Hills, Texas.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at the Striffler - Hamby Mortuary. Burial will be in Hillview East Cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.
Those desiring may make contributions to the North Richland Hills Baptist Church, to the American Diabetes Association or to a charity of choice in memory of Mrs. Harris.

Barbara Starnes Eades
Barbara Starnes Beam Eades, 71, of Fayetteville, formerly of LaGrange, died Sunday at Southwest Christian Hospice in Union City.
Mrs. Eades, born January 12, 1932, in Chambers County, Ala., was the daughter of the late H. Arthur and Lillian Yarbrough Starnes. She had lived in Fayetteville for 30 years and retired from Flat Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Arnold L. Eades; a daughter, Gail Beam of Snellville; a son, Rick Beam of Auburn, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Cindy Harrison of Opelika, Ala., one stepson, Richard and Shannon Eades of Roanok, Texas; five grandchildren, Holly and Brian Sheppard, Shana and Joseph Latimer, Joel, Lanaea, and Kayci Beam of Auburn, Calif., five step grandchildren, Chris and Amy Davis of Korea, Brian Brooks, and Holly Harrison of Opelika, Ala., Jessica and Ryan Eades of Roanok, Texas; five great - grandchildren, Haley, Caleb and Alayna Sheppard, and Callan and Chase Latimer; three step great - grandchildren, Jake and Andrew Davis, and Britney Brooks; one brother, Charles and Sonda Starnes of Auburn, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason.
Funeral services were at 11 this morning at Flat Creek Baptist Church in Fayetteville with the Rev. Bill Priester officiating. Burial was in Restlawn Memory Gardens in LaGrange.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Media Center Building Fund at Flat Creek Baptist Church at 161 Flat Creek Trail in Fayetteville, or to Southwest Christian Hospice at 7225 Lester Road in Union City, in memory of Mrs. Eades.
Carl J. Mowell & Sons Funeral Home in Fayetteville is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Christana Jones
Mrs. Christana Jones, 71, of 1324 Forrest Ave., died Saturday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Jones, born in Meriwether County, was the daughter of the late Willie and Nicora Ogletree. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Stovall. and retired from Callaway Mills Company.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters - in - law, Kalvin and Burnette Jones of Hogansville, Larry and Dorothy Jones of Hamilton and Lonnie Boddie of LaGrange; three daughters and two sons - in - law, Mary Jane and Alfred Johnson of LaGrange, Catherine and the Rev. Dale Turner of Pine Mountain and Debra Jones of LaGrange; 18 grandchildren and 19 great - grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Jones.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at New Solomon Grove Baptist Church on Pole Bridge Road in Pine Mountain with the Rev. Ervin Smith officiating. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
The family will be at her home.
West Georgia Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Billy Joe Williamson
Billy Joe Williamson, 39, of Hogansville, died Monday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Williamson, born July 10, 1963, and was a lifelong resident of Troup County. He was employed at Williamson Auto Parts in Hogansville and was a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church in LaGrange.
Survivors include a daughter, Kelly Jo Williamson; his parents, Billy and Kathryn Williamson all of Hogansville; a sister, Carol Williamson of Anniston, Ala.; a brother and sister - in - law, Lamar and Sabrina Williamson; and his fiance, Karen Neese all of Hogansville.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville with the Rev. Dalton Hammock officiating. Burial will be in Meadoway Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 until 9 tonight.

Shirley Kay Harris
Shirley Kay Greene Harris, 55, a loving wife and mother, died Sunday, January 19, 2003 in Richland Hills, Texas.
Mrs. Harris, born February 21, 1947, in LaGrange, was the daughter of the late William Jesse and Mary Dollens Greene. She was a 1965 graduate of LaGrange High School and a 1968 graduate of the Piedmont School of Nursing. Shirley was a longtime member of the North Richland Hills Baptist Church where she taught pre - school Sunday school. She also taught in the Mother's Day Out Programs at NRH Baptist, Glenview Baptist Church and St. Phillip Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her Husband of 34 years, Richard A. "Rick" Harris, Jr. of North Richland Hills; a son, Britt Harris of Carrollton; a daughter, Jennifer Harris of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and a brother, Owen Greene of Dalton, GA.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at the Striffler - Hamby Mortuary. Burial will be in Hillview East Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the North Richland Hills Baptist Church or to a charity of choice in memory of Mrs. Harris.
