Elizabeth Hays Miller
Elizabeth Hays Miller, 70, of LaGrange died Wednesday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Miller, born Nov. 9, 1932, in Moultrie, was the daughter S.D. and Emma Arend Hays. She retired from Delta Airlines.
Survivors include two brothers, David R. Hays of LaGrange and Charles G. Hays of Decatur.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Church of the King at 911 Murphy Ave., with the Rev. Hope Taylor officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Church of the King in her memory.
Cox Funeral Home in Hamilton is in charge of arrangements.

Jimmy Jackson of 42 Gilbert Road died Friday at Grady Memorial Hospital.
The family will be at the home of his mother, Annie Davidson at 42 Gilbert Road.

Syble Lawson
Mrs. Syble Marie Mashburn Lawson of Carrollton died Tuesday at her home.
Mrs. Lawson, born Feb. 2, 1938, in Coweta County, was the daughter of the late Arthur M. and Ella Gray Mashburn. Although she was stricken with several serious medical conditions she never lost hope.
Survivors include her husband Vernon Eugene Lawson; children, Michael Eugene and Andrea McCombs Lawson of Carrollton, Marty Glen and Peggy Sue Upchurch, Linda Darlene and Lee Cecil Luke of Carrollton; grandchildren and spouses, Zachary Lawson and Jacob Lawson, Cynthia Darlene and Timothy Joseph Smith of Thomaston, Pamela Renee and USMC Cpl. Josh Bagley, of Hogansville, Terri Jo and Ellis Joseph Duke of LaGrange, Hannah Nicole Lumpkin, Hilary Danyel Lumpkin and Audrey Hope Caroline Luke; five great - grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Eugene Mashburn of Wedowee, Ala., James Elvis Mashburn of Villa Rica, Pearl Brooks of Carrollton and Lucy Musik of Carrollton. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Terri Joe Lawson, brothers, Gertis Mashburn, Willard Mashburn, Ralph Whittington, Junior Mashburn, and Winston Mashburn and sisters, Lela Maude Mashburn, Hazel Martin and Verna Huckeba.
Funeral services will be at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in the Clem Community of Carroll County at 2:00 this afternoon with Dr. Doug New and the Rev. Shane Roberson officiating. Burial will be in Carroll Memory Gardens in Carrollton.
Pallbearers will Danny Mashburn, Joe Mashburn, Glenn Upchurch, Brian Hill, John Glass, Cliff Eldred, Dan Barclay and Carl Scarborough.
Almon Funeral Home & Chapel in Carrollton is in charge of arrangements.

Janelle Yarbrough
Mrs., Janelle Koonce Yarbrough, 60, of Hogansville died Tuesday at Hospice La Grange.
Born January 16, 1943, in Walker County, Mrs. Yarbrough was the daughter of the late Cecil and Trudy Ramey Koonce. She lived in Troup County most of her life, was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Hogansville and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, William J. Yarbrough; a daughter, Deborah Spradlin - Elzey and her husband, Robert Elzey, all of Hogansville; a son and daughter - in - law, Joel and Wendy Yarbrough of Waco; a sister Betty Suggs of Calhoun; a brother Johnny Koonce of Hogansville; five grandchildren and three great - grandchildren. She w s preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Yarbrough Dollar.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. R. C. Prescott officiating. Burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 until 9.

Jimmy Jackson
Jimmy Jackson of 65 Billings Road in the New Harmony Community died Friday at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Jackson, a native of Troup County, was the son of Annie Davidson and Kurt Andrews. He was a member of New Harmony C.M.E. Church.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Shirley Jackson; three children, Kizzie, Tyrece and Jeremy Jackson; three grandchildren, Tylek, Alexis and Jertasha Jackson; two sisters, Shirley Ann Booker and Gwendolyn Harrison; two brothers Ricky and Tony Davidson, all of West Point; sisters - in - law, Ella Davidson of Lanett, Joyce Green of Bronx, N.Y., brothers - in - law, Curtis Booker of Lanett, David Harrison, Hugh Lynch, and Gregory Lynch, all of West Point; mother - in - law, Susie M. Lynch of West Point; aunts, uncles, devoted friend and employer, Jamie Miller and family and other relatives.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at New Harmony C.M.E. Church on Adams Road with the Rev. Eddie Copeland officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the home of his mother, Annie Davidson, at 42 Gilbert Road, in the New Harmony Community.

Oliver Harris
Oliver Harris of 116 East Cannon St., died Friday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Harris, a native of Mitchell County, was the son of the late Spencer and Eether McBride Harris and a member of Confidence Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include, his wife, Lillie K. Harris; three sons, Felton Lee of Tallahassee, Fla., Floyd Green of Newnan, and Jerry and Patricia Wright of LaFayette, Ala.; two daughters, Tina Hopson and Sharon Sanders, both of LaGrange; a brother, Eddie “Willie” Harris of Pelham; a sister, Axie Bell of Pelham; nine grandchildren and 10 great - grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Wednesday at Confidence Missionary Baptist Church at 705 Colquitt St., with the Rev. Mary Smith officiating. Burial will be i Southview Cemetery.
West Georgia Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Annette Herring
Mrs. Annette Taylor Herring, 78, died Friday at Carolinas Hospital in Florence S.C.
Mrs. Herring, born in LaGrange, was the daughter of the late Dr. John Cephas and Mittie Caswell Taylor. She was admitted at 16 to Auburn University where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and earned an associates degree in secretarial science. In Florence she was a member o the Sidney Lanier Literary Chub, various UMW circles and an active member of the Christian Sunday school family Class at Central United Methodist Church. She was also active in various PTA organizations while her sons were in school. She worked as an executive secretary for People's Natural Gas before going to work with the Farmer's Home Administration from which she retired. She was instrumental in processing thousands of loan applications for farmer in the Pee Dee area.
As a loving mother she was wise and caring. when her boys were young, she was a wonderful playmate for the on rainy days as well as an adequate second baseman in family front yard wiffle ball games.
She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1970. The disease first took part of her sight, her mobility, then her privacy, but never ner dignity. thought her years of illness and confinement, she never complained, A stranger speaking to her on the phone would never have know she was ill. she died as she live with a quick wit, warm loving smile courage grace and charm. the twinkle in her beautiful blue eye will always be remembered. she inspired countless others throughout her life with her indomitable spirit.
Survivors include her husband, Robert H. Herring Sr., sons and daughters - in - law, Robert H. and Nancy Herring Jr. of Richmond, Va. and J. Taylor and Kim Herring of Columbia, S.C; and five grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Mt. Hope cemetery in Florence, S.C.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 until 9.
Friends are encouraged to with thoughts and remembrances to send to the family to be compiled into a collection.
Memorial, in lieu of flowers are to be sent to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of South Carolina, Meal on Wheels through the Senior Citizens Association and to the Auburn University Scholarship Fund.

Lula Wilson
Mrs. Mrs. Lula 'Penny' Wilson of 1001 Borton St., died Thursday at her home.
Mrs. Wilson, born in Troup County, was the daughter of the late Jessie Culberson. She was a nursing assistant for Dr. Richard Ross and was also employed by the Troup County School System. She was a member of Warren Temple United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son Thomas Wayne Wilson of LaGrange; two grandchildren, Detron Davenport and Terita Smith; two great - grandchildren, Derieko Smith and Jakoby Smith; honorary grandchildren, Brandon Kelley and Braxton Kelley; special friends Veronical Kelley, Willie Wright, Josephine Holiday, Joanne Bray, the Cameron family, the Thompson family, the Simpson family; and a number of other relatives, friends and in - laws. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Wilson and honorary granddaughter, Camisha Kelley.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Warren Temple United Methodist Church at 416 East Depot St., with the Revs. Bettye Holland and J.R. Ware officiating. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
The family will be at her home.
Arrangements are by Lakes - Dunson - Robertson Funeral Home.

Morris L. Sturdivant
Morris Lynch Sturdivant, 85, of Pine Mountain died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Sturdivant, born Sept., 13, 1917, in Troup County, was the son of the late William Gafney and Hatty Lynch Sturdivant. He was a retired Guard for the Harris County Department of Corrections and was a lifelong member of Salem United Methodist Church and a director of the Harris County Farm Bureau.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Wilson of Pine Mountain; a brother, William Bryant Sturdivant of LaGrange; two granddaughters, Kim Shepperd of Phenix City, Ala., and Kelly Finley - Turner of Pine Mountain; and two great - grandchildren, Ian Morris Turner and Maya Elizabeth Turner, both of Pine Mountain. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Sturdivant.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Salem United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8 at Cox Funeral Home in Hamilton.
