Evelyn Wyrosdick
Evelyn Sheets Wyrosdick, 82, of Pine Mountain died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003 at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Wyrosdick, born March 23, 1921, in Heard County, was the daughter of the late Charlie Thomas and Nealie Veal Sheets. She was a homemaker and formerly employed by Callaway Mills. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pine Mountain.
Survivors include a daughter and son - in - law, Faye and George Drake of Smith Station, Ala.; five grandchildren, Chris Buchanan, Letitia Autrey, Kelly Meadows, Lane Buchanan, and Cody Buchanan, all of Franklin; 10 great - grandchildren; four great - great - grandchildren; a brother, Thomas C. Sheets of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Hunter - Allen - Myhand Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Hollaway and Pastor Lynn Janney officiating. Burial will be in Ridgeway United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 until 9.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to Hospice LaGrange in memory of Mrs. Wyrosdick.

Thomas Person
Thomas Person, 75, of Bronx N.Y., formerly of Troup County, died Saturday in New York.
Mr. Person, born Dec. 4, 1927, in Douglasville, was the son of the late Tom and Odessa Person. He was an active member of Lowly Nazarene Baptist Church in Bronx.
Survivors include his wife, Julia Simpson Person; three sons and daughters - in - law, Eddie and Eloise Person, and Thomas and Milagros Person, all of Bronx, N.Y., and Robert E. and Kermelle Person of Jamaica, N.Y.; nine grandchildren, 10 great - grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Frances Truitt of LaGrange and Core McCauley of Chattanooga, Tenn. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral service will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Union Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Alfonzia Simpson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mattie Ward at 100 Royal Court.
A service by Mackey - Wilson - Jennings Funeral Home.

Charles Terrell
Funeral services for Charles Terrell of New York City, formerly of Hogansville, will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church in Hogansville with the Rev. W.R. Starks officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until the service hour.
Thrash and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.

Ethel Ruth Owens
Ethel Ruth Owens of 106 Willowcreek Road died Monday at Atlanta Medical Center.
The family will be at the home of her son, the Rev. Travis Leonard at the same address.
Lakes - Dunson - Robertson Funeral Home will announce arrangements at a later time.

Glenda D. Hodge
Mrs. Glenda D. Hodge, 44, of LaGrange died Monday. Oct. 6, 2003, at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Hodge, born May 28, 1959, in Carroll County, was the daughter of James E. Singleton of Carrollton and the late Martha Singleton. She had lived here for six years and was a homemaker.
Survivors, in addition to her father, include her husband, Danny L. Hodge of LaGrange, a son and daughter - in - law, Danny and Nicole Singleton of LaGrange; sisters and brothers - in - law, Debra Storey of Carrollton, Sara and Jerry Stanford of LaGrange, Brenda and Kenny Brown of Carrollton and Beverly and Bob Flood of Roopville; a brother and sister - in - law, Danny and Wanda Singleton of Whitesburg; her stepmother, Jewell Singleton of Carrollton; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Roger Harper.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Hunter - Allen - Myhand chapel with the Rev. Michael Reeves officiating. Burial will be in Ephesus Christian Church cemetery in Whitesburg.
The family will receive friends this evening at the funeral home from 7 to 9.

W. Fred Wilkerson
W. Fred Wilkerson, 49, of LaGrange disappeared on Nov. 27, 1987. His body was discovered, after 16 years of searching, on Sept. 30, 2003, at 421 Wares Cross Roads.
Mr. Wilkerson, born April 13, 1938, in Randolph County, Ala., was the son of the late R. Z. and Alma Brown Wilkerson. He was a graduate of Heard County High School and was chief of the Troup County Volunteer Rescue Squad, Station 2 for many years. He was employed by Fast Food Merchandisers.
Survivors include a daughter and son - in - law, Tracie and Roger Campbell; a son and daughter - in - law, Tim and Laurie Wilkerson; four grandchildren, Wesley and Jenna Campbell and Drew and Elizabeth Wilkerson, all of LaGrange,
Mr. Wilkerson also had a sister, Mary Jewell Sanders Lee, who died in 1997.
Memorial services will be Thursday evening at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Striffler - Hamby Mortuary with the Rev. Anthony Hovey officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Georgia Sheriff’s Pineland, P.O. Box 2907, LaGrange, Ga. 30241, or to Shoal Creek Baptist Church Building Fund at 1032 Youngs Mill Road, LaGrange, Ga. 30241.

Dawson Humphries
Dawson Humphries, 90, of LaGrange died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Humphries, born May 6, 1913, in LaGrange, was the son of the late Willard Hubert and Ellie Lee Woodruff Humphries. He had lived here all his life, was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He retired as a carpenter from Knight and Knight Contractors and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Pine Mountain.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol Holloway and Devra Hart, both of LaGrange and Charlotte Humphries of Stockbridge; a son, Charles Dawson Humphries Jr. of Woodstock; four grandchildren, six great - grandchildren; a sister, Kate Garrett of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Bethany Baptist Church cemetery in Pine Mountain with the Rev. Dalton Hammock officiating.
The family will receive friends this evening at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home from 6 until 8.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to Hospice LaGrange in memory of Mr. Humphries.

Ethel Simmons
Mrs. Ethel Nancy Durden Simmons, 76, of LaGrange died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Simmons, born Feb. 5, 1927, in Oconee, was the daughter of the late Harley and Lula McCoy Durden. She was a member of Mountville Baptist Church.
Survivors include three children, Virginia Standard of LaGrange, Oliver Glover of Athens, and Lonnie Glover of Morganton N.C.; three grandchildren and their spouses, Scott and Debbie Pruitt of LaGrange, Luther and Tracey Pruitt of Franklin and Allen and Beth Pruitt of Columbus; eight great - grandchildren, Casey Pruitt, Jonathon Pruitt, Gerald Barton, Cheyenne Pruitt Luther Pruitt Jr., Dakota Pruitt, Chelsea Pruitt and Nichole Pruitt; and a very special friend, Jackie McDaniel.
Services will be private.
Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Alexander B. Poole
Alexander Benton Poole 68, of 506 Springdale Drive died Oct. 14, 2003, at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Poole, born March 12, 1935, in LaGrange, was the son of the late Zelma Randolph and Minnie Lee Higgenbotham Poole. He was a retired Navy veteran of 22 years and also retired from Kleentex and Industrial Metal Works. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4629.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah McKeehan Poole; two sons, Alexander Poole, Jr. of Cusseta, Ala., and Brandon Christopher Poole of LaGrange; two daughters, Tina Poole of Columbus and Lesia Daniel of LaGrange; a sister, Lillie Donaldson of Indiana; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Clayton Walker Poole, a grandson, Cody Wren Daniel and a brother, Raymond Vincent Poole.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in Restlawn Memory Gardens with military honors.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8 at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation.

Leonora P. Simpson
Mrs. Leonora Priester Simpson died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003 at West Georgia Medical Center .
Mrs. Simpson, born Dec. 27, 1909, up on the Chattahoochee River near West Point, was the daughter of Amos Ulmer and Clara Priester. They moved here when she was two and she resided here until her death. Her husband, Glen Myers Simpson, who preceded her in death in 1981, was managing director of the Callaway Foundation for many years. She was active in community affairs having been a Red Cross volunteer for more than 30 years at West Georgia Medical Center, president of the Women's Society of Christian Service from 1964 to 1966, and was an active member of First United Methodist Church where she taught four year old Sunday school for 20 years and had been president of her Sunday school class.
As a young matron she was voted the most beautiful woman in LaGrange. She loved her rose garden, her family, her friends and her grandchildren, with whom she spent many happy hours.
Survivors include a daughter, Leonora Simpson Davis of Atlanta; a son William Bradley Davis of New York, N.Y.; a grandson and his wife, Glen Priester and Kim Sockwell Davis of New York, N.Y.; a granddaughter and her husband, Leonora Davis and Charles Wilgus of Atlanta and two great - grandchildren, Georgia Davis of New York, New N.Y. and Charles Wilgus of Atlanta.
A memorial service will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Helen Henry and Greg Porterfield officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church a half hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vernon Woods Retirement Community, 101 Vernon Woods Drive, LaGrange, Ga. 30240.
Striffler - Hamby Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
