Edward Hixon
CONYERS - Edward Lamar Hixson, formerly of Chattanooga, died Friday, April 16, 1999. He was 62.
Mr. Hixon was the son of the late George E. and Annie Ruth Anderson Hixon.
He was a graduate of Central High and Georgia State University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Medical Corps and was employed with FiberVision as logistics manager.
He retired from Hercules in 1996 after 42 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Smith Hixon; a daughter, Kathy Johnson, Covington, Ga.; two sisters, Pat Smith and Carolyn Maddox, both of Chattanooga; and two grandsons.
Services were held at Wheeler Funeral Home in Covington.
Burial was in Green Meadow Memorial Gardens in Conyers.
Sarah Stanley
CHATSWORTH - Sarah Frances Stover Stanley died Monday, April 26, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 83.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvil M. Stanley, and a son, Robert R. Stanley.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Stanley; five daughters, Dorothy Fleming, Patsy Penley, Barbara Fowler, Ruth Fowler and Shirley Brindle, all of Chatsworth; a sister, Willie Leatherwood, Marietta, Ga.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and stepgrandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Peeples Funeral Home with Darrell Hill and Jackie Waddell officiating.
Burial will be in Casey Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be today after 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Gerald Tish
CHATSWORTH - Gerald Edward Tish died Saturday, April 24, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 65.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Fowler Tish; a son, Eddie Tish, Dalton, Ga.; two daughters, Carol Tish, Dalton, and Linda Smith, Chatsworth; brother, Bruce Tish, Davenport, Fla.; two sisters, Edith Barnes, Loughman, Fla., and Beatrice Hancock, Garden City, Fla.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Ponders Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Cochran officiating.
Burial will be in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
Irene Voyles
SUMMERVILLE - Irene E. Voyles died Monday, April 26, 1999, in a local nursing home. She was 78.
She was a Baptist, a daughter of the late Sam and Dora Elizabeth Atkins.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at J.D. Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. John Crowe and the Rev. G.W. Rosson officiating.
Burial will be in Summerville Cemetery.
Fannie Smith
RAINSVILLE - Fannie Greenwood Smith died Sunday, April 25, 1999, in a Huntsville, Ala., hospital. She was 80.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Sue Ragland, Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Teresa Lynn Turney, Huntsville; two brothers, William R. Greenwood, Acworth, Ga., and Robert R. Greenwood, Rainsville; a sister, Anna Dean Robertson, Fort Payne; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Rainsville Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Town Creek Cemetery.
Jewel Baxter
CHATSWORTH - Jewel Baxter died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at her home. She was 76.
Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Peeples Funeral Home with the Rev. Russell Hood and Bobby Green officiating.
Burial will be in Murray Memory Gardens.
Ora Curry
DALTON - Ora Mae Couch Curry died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at her home. She was 86.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Curry.
Survivors include a brother, Troy Talley, Dalton; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Love Funeral Home with Dr. Billy T. Nimmons officiating.
Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Troy Jones
TUNNEL HILL - Troy Leon Jones died Thursday, April 22, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 55.
He had been a North Georgia resident for the past 15 years and had worked at Beaulieu Carpets for 11 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Jones; three sisters, Grace Hawkins, Kate Hannah and Louise Hawkins; and a brother, Tom Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Jones, Tunnel Hill; mother, Nell Cooper Jones, LaFayette, Ga.; daughter, Melissa Gnann, Eustis, Fla.; a son, Edward Leon Jones, Florida; two sisters, Julie Wallin and Mary Berfingause, both of LaFayette; seven brothers, Virgil Jones, Colusa, Calif., James Jones, San Diego, Rollin, Jack and Paul Jones, all of LaFayette, Charlie Jones, Asheville, N.C., and Romey Jones of Clemon Falls, Ore.; and six grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Pud Smith officiating.
Burial will be in McIntire cemetery in Catlett, Ga.
Visitation will be today after 6 p.m. and all day Sunday at the funeral home.
Robby Knight
FORT OGLETHORPE - Robby Lynn Knight died Friday, March 26, 1999, in Los Angeles. He was 34.
A graveside service will be today at 11:30 a.m. in Lakewood Memory Gardens with the Rev. Dan Scott officiating.
