ROSSVILLE - Thomas Leroy "Tom' Blake died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at his home. He was 63.
A lifelong resident of the North Georgia area, he was an associate in the lawn & garden department at Wal-Mart, a U.S. Army and Navy veteran and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Thelma Dunn Blake, and a daughter, Melissa Ann Blake.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Blake, Rossville; two daughters, Vickie Blake and Teresa Sexton, both of Rossville; two sons, Carlton Blake, Rossville, and Arthur Blake, Ringgold; two sisters, Marie Peters, East Brainerd, and Barbara Helmes, Cohutta, Ga.; five brothers, Billy Joe Brown, Hixson, Gene, Charley and Calvin Brown, all of Ringgold, and Harley Brown, Mt. Pisgah, Ga.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. James Langston officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. and all day Sunday at the funeral home.
Walter Condra
TRENTON - Walter C. Condra died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at his home. He was 60.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Cantrell and the Rev. A.R. Cameron officiating.
Burial will be in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.
John Fountain ROCK SPRING - John Douglas "Doug' Fountain Jr. died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at his home. He was 51.
Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home with the Rev. Cecil Bryant and others officiating.
Burial will be in LaFayette Memory Gardens.
Jewell Hix
SUMMERVILLE - Jewell L. Hix died Thursday, April 16, 1999, in an Augusta, Ga. hospital. She was 87.
She was a member of South Summerville Baptist Church and the widow of Claude H. Hix.
Survivors include two daughters, Lucille Hamby, Summerville, and Claudia Wofford, Augusta; two sisters, Ida Hendrix, Summerville, and Velma Horton, Marietta, Ga.; two brothers, Ben Fulton, Arlington, Va., and Don Fulton, Forest Park, Ga.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at South Summerville Baptist Church with the Rev. Davis Lacey and the Rev. Willie Bearden officiating.
Burial will be in Summerville Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at J.D. Hill Funeral Home, Summerville.
Garry Kilgore
RISING FAWN - Garry Kilgore died Thursday, April 15, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 47.
Mr. Kilgore was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area and was preceded in death by his father, Lason Curmon Kilgore, and a brother, Jeffery Curmon Kilgore.
Survivors include his wife, Roxane Kilgore; mother, Clara Kilgore, Lookout Mountain, Ga.; a son, Shane Jenkins, Lookout Mountain, Ga.; three sisters, Wanda Kilgore and Debbie Robertson, both of Lookout Mountain, Ga., and Donna Nelson, Sand Mountain; three brothers, his twin, Larry Kilgore, Eddie and Robbie Kilgore, all of Lookout Mountain, Ga.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Underwood officiating.
Burial will be in Payne's Chapel Cemetery, Lookout Mountain, Ga.
Visitation will be all day today at the funeral home.
Irma Paul
ROSSVILLE - Irma Tawzer Paul died Friday, April 16, 1999, in a local health care facility. She was 89.
She was a lifelong resident of Chickamauga and Rossville, a member of First Baptist Church of Chickamauga and had taught Sunday school for many years.
She retired from the Chattanooga City School System and was a very well-known gardener who helped landscape the John Ross House.
Survivors include a brother, J.V. Tawzer, Chattanooga; two sisters, Lantie Quinn, Chickamauga, and Vera Dean, Knoxville; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway, with Major Carl Quinn and the Rev. Richard Allmon officiating.
Burial will be in Chickamauga City Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Rubye Suttle
DALTON - Rubye Suttle died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 74.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Walter M. Brown and other ministers officiating.
Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Willis Funeral Home, Dalton.
William Swisher
ROSSVILLE - William Walter Swisher Sr. died Wednesday, April 14, 1999. He was 78.
Services will be today at noon at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Paul Frick officiating.
Burial will be in Plowman cemetery in Apison, Tenn.
John Tate
CALHOUN - John Franklin Tate died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at his home. He was 73.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Echota Baptist Church with the Rev. Phillip Anderson and the Rev. Bill Collins officiating.
Burial will be in Chandler Cemetery.
William Tinker
ROSSVILLE - William Kendrick Tinker died Thursday, April 15, 1999, in a local nursing care facility. He was 85.
Mr. Tinker was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area, a retiree from Combustion Engineering after 33 years and a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alta Mary Sadler Tinker, and a son, Wayne Winfield Tinker.
Survivors include two sons, William Tinker, Cloudland, Ga., and Jerry Tinker, Bridgeport, Ala.; three daughters, Katie Alsobrook, Cloudland, Ga., Faye Hicks and Sharon Scroggins, both of Rossville; a brother, Marvel Tinker, Tiftonia; three sisters, Drucilla Stahl, Bridgeport, Yvonne Hoback, Stevenson, and Jimmie Sue Cash, Signal Mountain; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be today at 10 a.m. at St. Gerard Catholic Church with the Rev. Frank Richardson officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery in East Ridge.
