Delbert 'Shorty' Hooper
TUNNEL HILL, Ga. - Services for Delbert 'Shorty' Hooper of Dalton, Ga., the owner of Shorty's Grocery for more than 30 years, will be today at 2 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Henson officiating.
Burial will be in Gordy Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Hooper died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 74.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Hooper; a daughter, Wanda Horner, Ringgold, Ga.; three sons, Danny and Kenneth Hooper, both of Dalton, and Billy Hooper, Tunnel Hill; four stepsons, Robert and Ernest Baker, both of Dalton, Kenneth Baker, Tennessee, and Cicero Baker, Augusta, Ga.; stepdaughter, Katie Baker, Chatsworth, Ga.; a sister, Juanita Bryson, Tunnel Hill; two brothers, Gene Hooper, Tunnel Hill, and Ralph Hooper, East Ridge; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Barbara Capps
Barbara Jean Hamilton Capps of Chickamauga, Ga., died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 61.
A longtime resident of the north Georgia/Chattanooga areas, she was retired from Hutcheson Medical Center where she worked for more than 20 years.
She was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, William 'Mack' Hamilton; a daughter, Amanda Jean Capps; and a brother, William E. Hamilton.
Survivors include her husband, Chester 'Chet' Capps; her mother, Annie Padgett, LaFayette, Ga.; two daughters, Debbie Hamilton, Chickamauga, and Vickie Capps, East Ridge; two sons, William 'Al' Capps and Roger Capps, both of Chickamauga; one brother, Starling Hamilton, LaFayette; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Darrell Henry officiating.
Burial will be in Calvary Gardens Mausoleum in Fort Oglethorpe.
Ernest Anderson
ROCKY FACE, Ga. - Ernest Anderson died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, in a North Georgia hospital. He was 71.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Ponders Funeral Home in Dalton, Ga., with the Rev. Howard Duvall officiating.
Burial will be in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.
Ivie Wheat
DALTON, Ga. - Ivie Ollie Wheat died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 82.
She was the widow of Willard F. Wheat, and the mother of the late Randall Wheat.
Survivors include three sons, Jessie, Richard and Ralph Wheat, all of Chatsworth; three daughters, Sue Morrison, Ringgold, and Jo Ann Teasley, and Darlene Pritchard, Dalton; one brother, Johnny Burns, Dalton; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Ponders Funeral Home with James 'Billy' Starks and the Rev. Billy Joe Cochran officiating.
Burial will be in Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be today after 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Olin Panter
McCAYSVILLE, Ga. - Olin 'Red' Panter died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 92.
Survivors include one son, James Panter, Epworth, Ga.; one brother, Carl Panter; and one sister, Elizabeth Panter, both of Copperhill; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Finch-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest German officiating.
Burial will be in Epworth First Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be today after 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Robert Bryson
TUNNEL HILL, Ga. - Robert Lynn Bryson Sr. died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 85.
He was a native of Summerville, Ga., a Baptist, and the widower of Edna Bryson.
Survivors include two daughters, Robbie Milford, Tunnel Hill, and Betty Hullender, Ringgold; two sons, Robert 'Buddy' Bryson Jr., and Jerry Bryson, both of Tunnel Hill; two sisters, Louise Anderson, Lyerly, Ga., and Marietta Bryson, Atlanta; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at noon at Wallis-Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Lillard Stringer officiating.
Burial will be in Summerville Cemetery.
Visitation will be today after 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Mable Caldwell
SUMMERVILLE, Ga. - Mable Inez Kirby Caldwell died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, at her home. She was 71.
She was a homemaker and attended Ridgedale Unity Church of God.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin Caldwell; 12 daughters, Marie Ledford, Sue Durham, Frances Tucker, Ophelia Padgett, Shirley Wells, Ada McGuire, Joyce Gentry, Janice Murdock, Maggie Kell and Annie Kay White, all of Summerville, Aline Kirby, Menlo, Ga., and Lucille Eason, Fort Payne, Ala.; two sons, Mark Kirby, Summerville and Timmy Kirby, LaFayette; one sister, Aline Wooten, Trion; two brothers, Fred Thompson, LaFayette and Odeal Thompson, Dalton; 31 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at Berryton cemetery with the Rev. Junior Evans and the Rev. Billy Dempsey officiating.
Arrangements were made by Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home.

Clarence Williams
RESACA, Ga. - Clarence C. Williams died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, in a North Georgia hospital. He was 90.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lester P. Williams, and a daughter, Dorothy Williams.
Survivors include two daughters, Annie Brown, Resaca, and Bettie Crye, Cleveland, Tenn.; one brother, Eugene Williams, Dalton, Ga.; one sister, Gertrude Knight, Michigan; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
