Harry Copeland
Harry Edward Copeland of Rossville, Ga., died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, in an area hospital.
He was a member of the Rossville First Baptist Church and had worked at Southern Coach Lines for several years. He had retired from Holmes Wrecker Co.
He was a World War II veteran with the United States Army and was a member of the Sixth Calvary. He was a Trustee in the U.S. Calvary Museum.
He was past master of Rossville Lodge No. 397 F&AM; and was Past Most Illustrious Grand Master of Grand Council of Georgia. He was a member of the All Masonic Bodies, including the Scottish Rite and Alhambra Shrine Temple.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Rogers Copeland, one daughter, Durinda Cheek, Ringgold, Ga.; two brothers, Bob Copeland and Bill Copeland, Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Patricia Overton, Knoxville, Tenn., and Peggy Quezada, San Bernardino, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Heritage Funeral Home on Battlefield Parkway in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., with the Rev. Don Givens and the Rev. Daniel Reynolds officiating.
Burial will be in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from noon to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
John Dalton
John B. Dalton of Rossville, Ga., died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999 in an area hospital. He was 83.
He previously owned and operated First Class Junk in Rossville. He was a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Dalton; two sons, Larry Dalton and David Dalton, Rossville; two daughters, Carolyn Gifford, Rossville, and Mary Dalton, Trenton, Ga.; one brother, James Dalton, Chickamauga, Ga.; one sister, Mary Dalton Newsome, Rossville; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the J. Avery Bryan Funeral Home in Chickamauga.
Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens East.
The family will receive friends today from noon to 9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Maxine McDonald
Maxine Moore McDonald, a lifelong resident of Rossville, Ga., died Friday Jan. 15, 1999 at her home. She was 68.
She was a member of Mission Ridge Baptist Church and was an Antique Dealer for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie P. Moore and Ruby Mae Pettitt Moore and one granddaughter, Sherry McDonald.
Survivors include two sons, Billy McDonald and Bobby McDonald, Rossville; one daughter, Sue McDonald Forrister, Cedartown, Ga.; three granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home in Fort. Oglethorpe, Ga., with the Rev. Luke McKay and the Rev. Duane Mills officiating.
Burial will be at the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
George Winston
George Edgar Winston of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999 in an area hospital. He was 77.
He was a native of Chattanooga, Tenn., and had lived in Fort Oglethorpe since 1968.
He was associated with Flavorich Dairies for 27 years and he and his brother established Winston Motors in 1981.
He was the Fort Oglethorpe Mayor Pro Tem for four years, and also served on the Fort Oglethorpe Planning Commission for eight years. He also served as a city councilman for 12 years.
He was a member of the Parkway Baptist Church and a past president of the Fort Oglethorpe Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Sunny Joyce Winston; two sons, Charles R. Winston, Chattanooga, and James C Norman, Bristol, Tenn.; six brothers, Paul Winston and Albert Winston, Ringgold, Ga., Ralph Winston, Chattanooga, Marvin R. Winston, Strong, Ark, Carl Winston, Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., and Clyde Winston, Rossville, Ga.; one sister, Wanda Manion, Chattanooga; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home on Battlefield Parkway in Fort Oglethorpe with the Rev. Richard Byers and the Rev. Glenn Boatner officiating.
Burial will be at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
Memorial contributions may be made to Missions c/o Parkway Baptist Church.

Daniel Card 'Dawg' Bodkin of Chickamauga, Ga., died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 39.

ELLIJAY, Ga. - John William 'Billy' Buffington died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at East Ellijay Baptist Church with minister Butch Jones and the Rev. Jess Posey officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be today after 5 p.m. at Logan Funeral Home, Ellijay.

James Covington
CALHOUN, Ga. - James Olen Covington died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, in an area hospital.
He was a member of Resaca Assembly of God.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Gay Aldridge Covington; two daughters, Karen Stinson and Barbara Bynum, Calhoun; five sisters, Nallie Covington and Marylou Hilley, Calhoun, Nellie Green, Centre, Ala., Ruby Jean McKenney, Columbia, Va., and Edith Kilgore, Plainville, Ga.; two brothers, Leon Covington, Calhoun, Ga., and Robert Covington, Rome, Ga.; five grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Timms and other ministers officiating.
Burial will be in Chandler Cemetery.
