Mr. Robert F. (Bob) Bell Jr. of Sharpsburg, Ga., died January 27, 2003.

Mr. Bell was retired from Georgia Power after 35 years of service, was a member of East Point Masonic Lodge #288 F&AM and South Fulton Shrine Club. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Allen and Brenda Smith, Fayetteville; Mr. and Mrs. Mike and Elaine Nelson, Marietta; sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Chandler and Clara Nell Hewell, Fayetteville; Mr. and Mrs. Jack and Laverne Vickery, Newnan; brother, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar and Linda Bell, Athens, TN; grandchildren, Allison and Steven Smith.

A funeral will be Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. Rev. Maria Wells will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.

Mrs. Pauline Herbert, 65, of Newnan, died Saturday, January 25, 2003.

She was born icon July 30, 1937 in Brooks County, Ga.

Visitation is at McKoon Funeral Home Wednesday, Jan. 29 from 6-8 p.m.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery Thursday, Jan. 30 at 2 p.m. Rev. Searcy Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Mattie Aycock Pruitt
A graveside service for Mrs. Mattie Aycock Pruitt will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at noon in Eastview Cemetery in Newnan.

Pastor Charles Young will be eulogist, assisted by Rev. Clinton Melson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on the day of the service from 10 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. The cortege will assemble at the home of her sister, Mrs. Mary Ruth Carter, 74 Johnson Avenue, at 9:40 a.m.

Mattie Aycock Pruitt was born icon October 6, 1925 to the late Elisah Aycock and Mary Etta Brown Aycock. She died January 26, 2003 at South Fulton Hospital, Atlanta, Ga.

Surviving are son, Charles M. Pruitt; three sisters, Mary Carter, Rosa Grier and Katrina Aycock; four brothers, James Aycock, Isaac Aycock, Melvin Aycock, Willie Aycock; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Lee B. Woodruff Sr.
Mr. Lee B. Woodruff Sr., 69, died Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at Newnan Hospital West in Newnan.

Mr. Woodruff was born icon in Heard County in 1933 to John and Daisy Woodruff, and for the past 30 years he lived in Meriwether County and Moreland.

He worked as a die setter at Douglas and Lomason for 32 years at his retirement. He was a talented man who could repair just about anything. He loved helping people and used his talents as a ministry by helping others repair anything from tractors to water pipes. He loved his family and was described by them as the best husband, father and grandfather that anyone could have. Mr. Woodruff was a veteran of the United States Army, and served during the Korean Conflict.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Woodruff; son, Lee B. Woodruff Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Moreland; daughter, Beth Ann Reeves and husband Richard of Moreland; brother, Thomas Frank Woodruff and wife Marie of Newnan; sister, Louiuse Couch and husband, Aubrey of Luthersville; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; many friends.

The family will receive friends at Jones Funeral Home in Newnan 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29.

A funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30 at Jones Funeral Home chapel with Minister Jim Veitch officiating. Burial will be in Luthersville City Cemetery.

Mr. Roy Leon Crabtree, 64, of Senoia, Ga., died Sunday, January 26, 2003.

He was born icon September 17, 1938.

Mr. Wade Lee Davis, 90, of Newnan, died Monday, January 27, 2003 at Franklin Healthcare.

Mr. Davis was born icon May 14, 1912 in Heard County, Ga. He was a self-employed grocer.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Jan. 28 from noon to 2 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan.

A funeral will be at McKoon chapel Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. The Rev. Buddy Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Franklin City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be deacons of New Hope Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughter, Virginia Davis of Newnan; sons, Wayne Davis and J. W. Davis, both of Newnan; brothers, Hubert Davis and Robert Davis, both of Newnan; four grandchildren.

Mr. Richard Gann, 61, of Newnan, Ga., died Sunday, January 26, 2003 at Newnan Hospital West in Newnan.

A funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. James Calhoun and the Rev. David Simmons will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Monday.

Mr. Gann was born icon November 27, 1941 in Coweta County, son of the late Jim Buck Gann and the late Eva Louisa Jordan Gann. He was a lifelong resident of Coweta County and was a member of the Baptist church.

Surviving are sister, Louise Agan of Hogansville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry and Eloise Gann and William and Joyce Gann, all of Luthersville, and Robert and Carolyn Gann of Hogansville; a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Catherine V. McKoy, 84, of Newnan, Ga., died Sunday, January 26, 2003 at Newnan Hospital West.

Mrs. McKoy was born icon July 21, 1918 in Heard Counnty, Georgia.

The family was receiving friends at McKoon Funeral Home Monday, Jan. 27 from 6-8 p.m.

A funeral will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at graveside 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28. The Rev. Floyd Tenney will officiate.

Surviving are son, Jimmy McKoy of Newnan, Ga.; daughter, Virginia (McKoy) Borders of Newnan; sisters, Stella Mckenzie of Franklin, Ga. and Jean Webb of Hogansville, Ga.; grandchildren, Michael Young of Texas , Lisa Olmstead of Newnan and Scott McKoy of Newnan; five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Dennis Frank Cato, 42, of Griffin, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2002, in Newnan.

Mr. Cato was born icon March 7, 1960, in Fulton County. His parents are Buford Cato of Griffin and Grace Lambert of White. Mr. Cato was a sheet metal worker with Logan Heating and Air Conditioning.

A funeral was held Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel.

Surviving are his parents, Buford Cato and his wife Lucy of Griffin and Grace Lambert and her husband Richard of White; son Chris Cato of Locust Grove; daughters Nisha Blunt of McDonough and Scarlet Tredwell of Alabama; and brother Daniel Cato of Moreland.

Mr. Samuel Warren Hughes, 88, of Ridgeville, S.C., died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003.

Mr. Hughes was born icon Feb. 15, 1914, in Ridgeville. S.C., son of Eugene C. Hughes and Ruth Green Hughes. He was retired from Ruscon Construction company, and was a lifetime member of Pine Grove Baptist Church Number 2.

A funeral will be held Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, a 3 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church number 2. Burial will be in Cummings Chapel Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made of the building fund of Pine Grove Baptist Church Number 2, 285 Temple Road, Ridgeville. SC, 29472.

Mr. Charlie Frank Vaughn, 73, of Newnan, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at his home.

Mr. Vaughn was born icon Dec. 6, 1929, in Heard County. A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Vaughn was a retired security guard and had worked for West Building Materials and Coweta Dairies.

A funeral will be Monday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. Rev. Frank Powers will officiate, and burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial park.

Surviving are his wife, Elsie Payton Vaughn; daughter Kathy Vaughn Truitt and her husband Danny; sisters and brothers-in-law Nina and Albert Robertson and Delores and Jackie Davis; brother and sister-in-law C.L. and Catherine Vaughn, all of Newnan; and grandsons Scotty Truitt and Joshua Truitt.

Mr. Charles Spencer Danbury
Mr. Charles Spencer Danbury, 73, died January 22, 2003 at Alvin C. York Medical Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Born in East Point, Georgia, March 29, 1929, Mr. Danbury graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1945. Prior to enlisting in the U.S. Navy, he worked in Atlanta as a dental technician.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Danbury Sr. and Myrtle Haynes Danbury; and borhter Ed Hines, all who were from East Point.

Surviving are brother, Roy Nelson Danbury Jr. of Newnan, Ga.; sister, Martha Danbury Burel of Atlanta; nephews, Steven Burell of St. Louis, MO, Ronnie Burel, Mark Burel, Keith Burel of metro Atlanta, Dr. Byron Burel of Albuquerque, NM, Brad Danbury of Newnan, Ga., Clint Danbury of Houston, Texas ; and his beloved extended family, Bobbie Harper, her children and grandchildren of Eagleville, TN.

A funeral will be Monday, Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. at Carmichael-Hemperly Funeral Home in East Point, Ga. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in East Point, Ga. Dr. Lee A. Aimy Jr. officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, Jan. 26 from noon to 3 p.m.

Mr. James Otis Mitchell
Mr. James Otis Mitchell, 53, of Henagar, Alabama, died Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at DeKalb Baptist Hospital in Guntersville, Ala.

Mr. Mitchell was born icon November 28, 1949 in Roanoke, Ala. He was the son of the late Herman Mitchell; and his mother, Jewell Pate, survives him.

Also surviving are two daughters, Sandra Denise Mitchell and Eva Deann Arnold; son, James Darrell Mitchell of Henagar, Ala.; two sisters, Faye Daniels and Ruby Walker; three brothers, Buddy Mitchell, Ralph Mitchell and Dan Mitchell; nine grandchildren.

The family was receiving friends Friday, Jan. 24 at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan.

A funeral will be Saturday, Jan. 25, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pleasent Baptist Church. The Rev. Jody Mitchell will officiate. Pallbearers include Joel Youngblood, Randy Crawford, Larry Arrington, Josh Ray, Darrell Taylor and Shane Arrington.

Mr. Tillman Connley Elliott, 76, of Newnan, Ga., died Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at LaFayette Nursing and Rehab in Fayetteville, Ga.

Mr. Tillman was born icon August 2, 1926.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Elliott of Apison, Tenn.; two daughters, Jennifer (Elliott) Clark of Sharpsburg, Ga. and Bonnie L. (Elliott) Burden of Apison, Tenn.; son, Tillman Connley Elliott Jr. of Newnan, Ga.; grandchildren, Charles S. Clark III of Douglasville, Ga., Philip E. Clark of Sharpsburg, Ga., Lani Burden of Apison, Tenn., Robert C. Elliott of Newnan and Rebecka Elliott of Newnan; two great-grandchildren, Brent and Trey Clark of Douglasville.

A memorial service will be at McKoon Funeral Home chapel 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25.

Mrs. Leslie Lee Glass, 75, died Tuesday, January 21, 2002 at Fairburn Health Care in Fairburn, Ga.

A funeral will be Saturday, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on Highway 16 East, Sharpsburg, Ga. Rev. Ronald Groom, pastor, eulogist; assisted by Rev. Felton James. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and friends. Flower bearers will be granddaughters and great-granddaughters. The remains will lie in state at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the funeral hour. On the day of the service the cortege will assemble at the residence at 1 p.m.

Mrs. Glass was born icon May 30, 1928 in Newnan to the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rakestraw (Olevia). Two sons preceded her in death, Mr. Roger Lee Bolton and Mr. James Edward Bolton.

Surviving are Mr. and Mrs. Aaron (Delia) Bolton, Mrs. and Mrs. (Shirley) Stanley Sinkfield, Mr. and Mrs. Roosevelt (Rosa) Roberts, Miss Annette Roberts, Miss Carolyn Roberts, Mr. Dock Grady McCauley Jr., Miss Wyvonne Rakestraw, Mrs. Sonya Glass, Miss Michelle Glass, all of Newnan; sister, Mrs. Jessie Kate Robinson of Newnan; 39 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A special friend, Mrs. Mary Lowe, and a special granddaughter, Anglet Gray of Newnan.

Mrs. Sara Frances McDonald, 78, of Newnan, Ga., died Jnauary 23, 2003 at her residence.

Mrs. McDonald was born icon August 5, 1924 in Meriwether County, daughter of the late Robert C. and Mary (Davidson) Funderburk. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George R. McDonald Sr.

A funeral will be at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel in Newnan Saturday, Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Dr. Tim Driggers and Rev. Walter Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 24 from 6-9 p.m. at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel.

Mrs. McDonald was a homemaker. She was a member of Mills Chapel Baptist Church where she was a member of the Young at Heart Sunday School Class.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, George R. McDonald Jr. (Karen) of Manchester, Robert Phillip McDonald Sr. (Mollie) of Gay, Ga., Derrel F. McDonald (Beverly) of Newnan; daughters and son-in-law, Linda M. Cook of Newnan, Cynthia Dianne Mote (Robert) of Newnan, Myra M. Norton of Newnan; brother, Norman Funderburk of Waverly Hall, Ga.; sister, Alice Ward of Yatesville; brother-in-law, Bill Jones of Warm Springs; sisters-in-law, Ann Funderburk of Warm Springs and Susan Ford of Columbus; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
