Mrs. Ella Bowen Martin, 70, of Turin, Ga., died Monday, January 6, 2003 at Newnan Hospital.

A funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Dr. Joel Richardson will officiate, and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 Wednesday night.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Poston, Richard Poston, Lonnie Bowen, Kenneth Bowen, David Bowen and Tony Wilbanks.

Mrs. Martin was born October 25, 1932 in Troup County, daughter of the late Ben and Eva Smith Burnham. She retired from Package Products Inc. in Charlotte, North Carolina and had made her home in Coweta County for the past six years. She enjoyed gardening and flower arranging and sharing those talents with others.

Surviving are daughter, Brenda Wray of Newnan; five sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Cynthia Poston of Augusta, Richard and Gloria Poston of Peachtree City, Lonnie and Michele Bowen, Kenneth and Sarah Bowen, and David and Brenda Bowen, all of Newnan; sister, Jeanette Miller of Wadley, Alabama; brother, Eugene, Burnham of Franklin; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Johnnie C. Seiple
Mr. Johnnie C. Seiple, 59, of Newnan, Ga., died Monday, January 6, 2003 at Newnan Hospital West in Newnan.

He was born July 4, 1943 in Alabama. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam.

The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home Thursday, Jan. 9 from 6-8 p.m.

A funeral will be Friday, Jan. 10 at 2 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home chapel. Pastor Joe Bufford will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Roscoe Road, Newnan.

Pallbearers will be Rickey McDaniel, Narine Chinwa, William Digan, Tyrone Raulerson, Dave Mollner and Albert Terry Seiple.

Surviving are his wife, Rebecca E. (Weston) Seiple; daughters, Mary Lee Tenagilo Games of West Virginia, Malinda Fay Tenagilo Denman of Georgia, Angela Kay (Seiple) Hall of Mobile, Ala., Amy Sue (Seiple) Wilson of Mobile, Ala., and Malissa Kay (Seiple) Coleman of Georgia; sons, Michael Ray Tenaglio of Texas and Mark Alan Tenaglio of Georgia; sister, Ruby Ann Tadlock of Mobile, Ala.; brother, Albert Terry Seiple of Mobile, Ala.; 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Curtis L. Turner, 85, of Newnan, died January 5, 2003 at Newnan Hospital West in Newnan.

Mr. Turner was born April 28, 1917 in Coweta County to Alvin and Clara (Cole) Turner. He was retired and had worked as a self-employed cabinet maker. He was a member of Welcome Road Baptist Church where he was a deacon.

Visitation was Tuesday, Jan. 7 from 6-8 p.m. at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home in Newnan.

A funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8 at Welcome Road Baptist Church with the remains placed in state at 1 p.m. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Pastor David Dixon and Mr. Ray Turner will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred Turner; sons, Curtis Ray Turner of McDonough; B. W. "Bill" Turner of Calhoun; daughter, Carolyn Fincher of Newnan; brothers, J. W. Turner and Horace Turner; sisters, Lurene Turner, Inez Musick, Dorothy Clark, Barbara Shelton, Mable Leclair; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Elsie Mae Popphan, 52, of Newnan, died Sunday, January 5, 2003 at Newnan Hospital in Newnan, Ga.

Mrs. Popphan was born December 30, 1950 in Georgia.

The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home Tuesday, Jan. 7 from 2-6 p.m.

A funeral will be in McKoon Funeral Home chapel Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003 at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Surviving are her husband, William Popphan Sr.; son, William Popphan Jr. of Newnan; three sisters, Martha Jean Turner of Ranburne, Ala., Nellie Lee Burke of Hamilton, Ohio, and Diane Thrower of Pikeville, Tenn; two brothers, Wayne Steele of Alabama and Robert Lee Steele of Columbus, Ga.

Mr. George Daniel "Danny" Goforth, 40, of Hogansville, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at his home.

Mr. Goforth was born Feb. 22, 1962, in Atlanta, to the late George and Clara Easterwood Goforth. Before moving to Hogansville three years ago, he lived in College Park and was employed as a framing carpenter.

The family will receive friends for 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Cremation will follow.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy Sue Goforth; step-daughter Tianna Lynn Hill of East Point; step-son, Timothy James Kenney of High Falls; sister, Sandra Reese of Carrollton; half-sisters Diane Southern of College Park and Shirley Harper of Moreland; half-brothers Tommy Goforth, Doug Goforth, and Wayne Pitts, all of College Park; two step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Harold K. Looper
Mr. Harold K. Looper, 67, of Warner Robins, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at the Houston Medical Center.

Mr. Looper was born in Dalton to the late Glen and Frances K. Looper. He worked for several years in the carpet manufacturing industry and retired from Crumrine Manufacturing in 1992. Mr. Looper served in the U.S. Army.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home in Warner Robins.

Surviving are his wife, Annette Looper; daughters Kay Stephenson, Elaine Gartner, Peggy Schmidt, Dorie Barton, and Janna Beasley; sons Ken Looper, Luke Beasley, and Paul Beasley; brothers-in-law Harry Weissenberger, Ellis Casper, Jr., Phillip Casper, Tim Casper, and Eric Casper; sister-in-law Debbie Campbell; mother-in-law Laura Casper; and 14 grandchildren.

Mr. Mark Allen Presley
Mr. Mark Allen Presley, 30, of Newnan, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

A native of Newnan, Mr. Presley was born in 1972 to Gerald and Betty Jean Presley. A carpenter by trade, he was well liked by all his co-workers and was described by them as the hardest working man on the team. He loved hunting and spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Victory Tabernacle Church. The Rev. Terry Calhoun will officiate, and burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at the home of his aunt, Margie Loftin, 540 Dickerson Road, Franklin, from 1 to 7 p.m. A guest registry will also be available at Jones Funeral Home on Monday.

Surviving are his mother, Betty Jean Presley; brothers, Michael Anthony Presley of Carrollton and Mickey Shane Presley of Newnan; sisters Robin Renee Thrower of Carrollton and Lisa Diane Gardner of Newnan; aunts Margie Loftin, Judy Moon, Irene Spradlin, Lois Knight, and Peggy Hale; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Mr. Jessie Dueard Pope
Mr. Jessie Dueard Pope, 80, of Newnan, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at Franklin Healthcare.

Mr. Pope was born March 20, 1922, in Newnan, to the late William Pope and Ella Hammock Pope. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of New Heights Baptist Church. Mr. Pope was retired from the William L. Bonnell Company.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine Pope, and son, William Pope.

A funeral will be held Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. Don Bowden will officiate, and burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Pope, Jeremy Kirkpatrick, George Vaughan, and Dale Bowling.

Surviving are his daughters, Mary Ann Hammond of Newnan and Martha Smith; son Bobby Pope of Newnan; brothers, Joe Pope of Luthersville and Howard Pope and his wife Eloise; family Tommy and Chris Pope and Dale and Patricia Bowling; and two grandchildren.

Mr. John Cousins, 64, of Highway 100, Meriwether County, Ga., died Monday, December 30, 2002 at West Georgia Medical Center.

A funeral will be Saturday, Jan. 4, at 1 p.m. at Oakridge C.M.E. Church, 1640 Forest Road in Greenville, Ga. Rev. M. L. Hardrick Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in the Ollie Branch Cemetery #2.

Mrs. Eleanor Sheats Hubbard

Mrs. Eleanor Sheats Hubbard, 88, of Marietta, Ga., died January 2, 2003 at Cottage Landing.

She was the daughter of Irma Brock Sheats and Warren Harry Sheats. She graduated from Carrollton High School in 1932, attended Shorter College and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1936 as a member of the Alpha Gamma Sorority. Her interests included gardening, bridge, travel and golf. She was a member of the Ladies Golf Association of Newnan Country Club and Newnan Hospital Auxiliary.

She was a member of Central Baptist Church and was a long-time Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church Choir, Bell Choir — first group, and various circles at the church. Mrs. Hubbard was a member of the Reading Circle and taught Adult Education classes.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Richard Buel Hubbard Jr., also known as "Slick"; son, Harry Sheats Hubbard; and daughter, Frances Eleanor Hubbard.

Surviving are sons, Richard Buel Hubbard III and wife, Janet, of Marietta and Dr. Charles N. Hubbard and wife, Marilyn of Carrollton; grandchildren, Richard Buel Hubbard IV, Elizabeth Lynn Hubbard, Charles Ellis Hubbard, Benjamin Lee Hubbard and Eleanor Merrell Hubbard; sister-in-law, Dorothy Adams Hubbard and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 4 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Dr. Joel Richardson officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Central Baptist Church, P. O. Box 1221, Newnan, GA 30264 or the Alzheimer's Association, 1925 Century Boulevard, Suite 10, Atlanta, GA 30345.

Mr. Brad Perkins

Mr. Brad Perkins, 17, of Highway 29 N., Newnan, Ga., died Thursday, January 2, 2003.

He was born March 11, 1985, in Warner Robbins, Ga., son of Ronald Perkins Jr. of Waverly Hall, Ga. and Kathy (Dupree) Perkins of Newnan, Ga., who survive him. He was a senior at Newnan High School.

Arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home of Newnan where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4.

A funeral will be at McKoon Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 5. Rev. Lanier Beasley will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.

Mrs. Margaret "Maggie" G. Powell, 73, of Forest Place, Newnan, Ga., died Friday, January 3, 2003, at Southwest Christian Hospice in Union City, Ga.

She was born October 27, 1929 in Atlanta, Ga., daughter of Sam and Annie Shehane of Riverview. She was a retired administrator with the Federal Government. She was a member of NGO, VOE, Kiwanis, VFW Auxiliary, Elks Auxiliary, AARP, Senior Friends, Nature Conservancy and Audubon Society. She attended First Baptist Church of Newnan.

She was the wife of Bill Powell.

Survivors include daughter, Sandra A. Burress of Lawrenceville, Ga.; son, John T. Spartman III of Melbourne, Fla.; step-sons, D. S. Powell of Loganville, Ga., A. W. Powell of Dallas, Texas , J. F. Powell of Snellville, Ga.; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, Jan. 5 from 4-8 p.m.

A funeral is at McKoon Funeral Home chapel Monday, Jan. 6 at 11 a.m. Dr. Gene Tyre will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Riverview Baptist Church in Valley, Alabama.

Mrs. Ruby Pauline (Tuck) Roach, 81, of Fairview Road, Brooks, Ga. died January 3, 2003 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center in Newnan, Ga.

She was born September 16, 1921.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be Sunday, Jan. 5 at 2 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jimmy Fleming will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Guy Rumohr, Gregory Rumohr, David Van Drew, Scott Watson, Edward Blackmon and Bobby Roach.

Surviving are daughters, Kathy Canady of Brooks, Ga., and Linda (Roach) Rumohr of Newnan; sons, Mickey Roach of Quincy, Fla. and Dennis Roach of Newnan; sister, Christine Snead; brother, Ralph Tuck of Alabama; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
