Joyce Walden

Joyce Walden, age 74, of McDonough, Georgia, died July 26, 2009. She was born in Atlanta to the late Thomas Cranford and Myrtle Mozelle Harvey Rainwater. She was preceded in death by her daughter Melinda Walden and son-in-law Mike Clark. Joyce was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who spent her life doing the Lord's will and doing for others.

Mrs. Walden is survived by her husband of 58 years, Paul Walden; daughters, Sharon (Kelly) Tils, Brooks, Paulette Clark, Newnan, and Robin (Mike) Murphy, Gainesville; brother, David Rainwater, Daytona, Florida; grandchildren, Michael Tils, Joey Boswell and Matthew Murphy; great grandchildren, Kylee Huggins, Addison Tils and Emma Tils.

Funeral services were held on July 28 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Rev. Al O'Quinn and Rev. Sammy Orr officiating. Interment at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors.

Sandra J. Black

Sandra J. Black, age 67, of Riverdale, Georgia, died July 27, 2009. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 13, 1941, the daughter of the late William

(Dick) and Claire Richards. She lived in Georgia most of her life. She was a dedicated employee for the State Labor Department for over 30 years. She became quite a gifted and accomplished poet later in her life. She won many national and international awards for her works. She also has had several of them published.

She is survived by her husband, Mr. Winford Black of Decatur, daughter and son-in-law, Carrie Ann and Dan Lyons of McDonough; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Alvetta Jones of Decatur; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Susan Richards and their children of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, Dani, Courtney, and Hallie Lyons of McDonough.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Black will be Saturday, August 1. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m., with the Memorial Service beginning at 6 p.m. at Glen Haven Baptist Church, 345 East Lake Road in McDonough. Please make a donation to the Glen Haven Youth Department in memory of Mrs. Black. Cremation Society of the South at Eagles Landing.

Eunice F. Cornell

Eunice F. Cornell, age 76 of Locust Grove, Georgia, died July 27, 2009. She was born in Atlanta, to the late Charles Zadox and Laura Mae Petty Jennings. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Kenneth E. Cornell, Jr. and by a brother, Roy Jennings. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and member of My Father’s House Church in Griffin.

Survivors include her children, Eddie (Rocky) Cornell of Milner, Donnie (Brenda) Cornell of Stark, Rita (Greg) Ray of Locust Grove, Alan (Sandy) Cornell of Hampton; grandchildren, Shea Anderson, Erin Cornell, Sabrina Carpenter, Chris Carpenter, Chris Cornell, Kristy Womack, Justin Cornell, Jeffrey Pankey, Stephen Pankey, Brian Cornell, Monica Varela, Nicole Lavoy, Cody Stinchcomb; 24 great-grandchildren; brother, Jack (Betty) Jennings of East Point; sister, Sara (Horace) Hayes of East Point; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 1, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Thompson officiating. Interment at Locust Grove Cemetery. Lynn Tingle Armistead

Lynn Tingle Armistead, age 47, of Monroe, Georgia, died June 10, 2009. She was born in Henry County on December 28, 1961 to the late John Lamar Tingle and the late Carolyn Horton Tingle.

She is survived by her husband: Don Armistead of Monroe; son: Justin Armistead of Monroe; aunts: Bessie Dale Patterson, Ethleen Tingle, Willie Terrell; and several cousins.

Funeral services were held June 13 at the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home in?Monroe, with the Rev. Lonnie Blackmon officiating. Interment at Stapp Family Cemetery. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc.

Allison Eugene Hughson

Allison Eugene Hughson, age 94, of Stockbridge, Georgia, died July 3, 2009. Mr. Hughson was born in Upper Keswick, York County, New Brunswick. He was the son of the late Berry and Sadie Hughson, who moved to Maine and on to Waterbury, Connecticut when he was five years of age. In 1962, he moved to California and lived there for 40 years, retiring from Flexible Metal Hose where he was a Quality Control Engineer. After his retirement, he went back to work as an Independent Consultant until the age of 83 when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Moving to Georgia in 2002 to be near his daughter and son-in-law, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved his family and raised his children to love the Lord. He loved to read his Bible, enjoyed gardening and being outside whenever possible. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Hughson, his oldest daughter, Ann Pieart, two brothers, Harold and Colby Hughson and a sister, Gladys Plumley.

Survivors include his daughter and son in law, Patricia (Gary) Snider of Stockbridge; grandchildren, Kim Mesecher, Michael Audas and Brian Deaton, all of Iowa, Gary, Helen, Fred, and Charlie Snider, all of Georgia; 17 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services were conducted July 9 at the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa, with Gary Snider officiating. A memorial service was conducted July 18 at Faith Independent Baptist Church in McDonough. Haisten Funeral Home, McDonough, 770-914-8833.

Mabel Kemble

Mabel Kemble, age 66, of Jackson, Georgia, died July 6, 2009. Daughter of the late Thomas Harold and Ella Frances Blackwell Blalock, she enjoyed gardening, and was well-known for her delicious cooking. Mrs. Kemble dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Kemble was preceded in death by her sister, Charlotte Whitlock; and brothers, Wesley and Cecil Blalock.

Survivors include her husband, Donald W. Kemble, Sr.; daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Steven Blankenship, Debra and Keith Harmon, all of McDonough, Rhonda Whitton of Jackson; son, David Cousson of Jackson; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley Mauldin, Maurgerite Blalock, both of Stockbridge, Ann and Wayne Hayes of Newnan; brothers and sister-in-law, Thomas Blalock of Atlanta, Larry and Peggy Blalock of Stockbridge.

Funeral services for Mrs. Kemble were held July 8 at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan in Covington, Interment in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in McDonough. Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home.

Arthur S. Gooch

Arthur S. Gooch, Sr., age 75, of McDonough, Georgia, died July 8, 2009.

Survivors include his wife Gerry Gooch; daughters Trudy Brannon and Deanna Nalley of Griffin, Mary Jo Scott of Henderson, Nevada, Joy Lynn Ross, and Debbie Gooch; sons Timothy Gooch of McDonough, Arthur Sherman Gooch, Jr. of Deltona, Florida; 16 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and nieces & nephews.

Graveside services were held July 9 at Camp Memorial Park, with Pastor Donnie Skidmore officiating. Carl J. Mowell & Son.
