He was born icon June 23, 1924.

Surviving are daughter, Carol Arnold of Fayetteville, Ga.; sons, John Rick Barfield of Tyrone; Jimmy Barfield of Sturgis, MI; brother, Rev. Raymond Barfield of Marietta; four grandchildren.

A funeral will be Saturday, July 26 at 2 p.m. at graveside in Sherwood Memorial Park. Rev. Raymond Barfield officiating.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 25, from 6-8 p.m. at Parrott Funeral Home in Fairburn, Ga.

Mrs. Corine Calhoun
Mrs. Corine Calhoun of 7 Dewey St., Newnan, Ga., died July 20, 2003 at Newnan Hospital East.

A funeral will be Saturday, July 26, at 2 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 87 Pinson St. in Newnan, with remains placed in state at the church at 12:30 p.m. The Rev. W. J. Johnson, pastor, The Rev. W. Clark, officiating, assisted by the Rev. John Farmer. Burial in Eastview Cemetery. Flower ladies will be Shirley Dodds, Yolando Cook, Shirley Brittian, Wanda Teagle, Anita Brownlee, Jacqulyn Stricklin, Laura Clark. Pallbearers will be J. C. Patterson, Inman Beadles, William Clark, W. J. Jordan, Al Smith and Darrell Hill.

Mrs. Calhoun was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Acey. She was married icon to the late Albert Calhoun Sr., to this union four children were born. Mrs. Calhoun was a faithful member of the St. John Baptist Church where she served on the Mothers' Board until her health began to decline.

Surviving are three sons, Mr. and Mrs. Albert (Patricia) Calhoun, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph (Louvenia) Calhoun, Dr. Clarence Calhoun, Albany, Ga.; daughter, Gloria Calhoun, Newnan, Ga.; grandchildren, Robert and Elizabeth Calhoun of Tallahassee, Fla., Ms. Bonnie Calhoun of Indianapolis, Indiana, Ms. Vanessa Calhoun of College Park, Ga.; Sterling (Nikki) Calhoun of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Ralph Calhoun Jr. of Newnan, Ga. and LCPL Michael D. Calhoun of 20 Palms California; two great-grandchildren, James R. Lockhart of College Park, Ga., Noble D. Calhoun of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; a host of other relatives and friends.

On the day of the service family and friends are asked to assemble at the residence at 1 p.m.

Mr. Earl H. Collins, 86, of Stonewall, died July 24, 2003 at Christian Ministries Hospice in Griffin, Ga.

Mr. Collins was born icon May 5, 1917 in Old Campbell County to the late Aaron H. and the late Laura (Strickland) Collins.

A funeral will be at Parrott Funeral Home in Fairburn, Ga., Saturday, July 26 at 2 p.m.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 25, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. at Parrott Funeral Home. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park. The Rev. John Hagen will officiate.

Pallbearers are Craig Evans, Phil Evans, Todd Evans, Keith Lyle, Billy Earle, Joel Collins and Ken Collins.

Mr. Collins was a member of Cokes Chapel United Methodist Church in Sharpsburg, Ga. He was retired from Fulton County Parks and Recreation.

He was preceded in death by son, Kenneth Collins.

Mrs. Carrie Lee Galloway, 24, of LaGrange, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

A funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 26 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Mike Reeves will officiate, and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 26.

Ms. Galloway was born icon Sept. 17, 1978 in Chillicothe, Ohio, but lived in Troup County most of her life.

Surviving are two sons, Brett McKinley Stokley and Terry Austin Stokley, both of LaGrange; mother and step-father, Cathy and Joe Underwood, also of LaGrange; father, Terry L. Galloway of Piketon, Ohio; sister, Amy Jo Turner of Hogansville; step-sister, Heather Jo Underwood of West Point; grandmothers, Wanda Galloway of Wakefield, Ohio, and Thelma Smith of Chillicothe, Ohio.

Mr. Bobby Kirby, 73, of Sharpsburg, Ga., died July 24, 2003.

He was born icon January 12, 1930 in Carroll County, Ga.

He is survivied by wife, Clara Kirby, Sharpsburg; daughter and son-in-law, Lee Ann and David Lyle, Carrollton; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Tammy Kirby, Hampton; Richard and Teresa Kirby, Stockbridge; brothers, Thomas Kirby of Alford, FL, Hermice Kirby, Douglasville, Murphy Kirby, Lithia Springs, Lewis Kirby, Douglasville; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be Saturday, July 26 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. Pastor Ross Anderson officiating. Burial in Holly Hill Memorial Park.

Mr. Bryan Wesley Spratlin
Mr. Bryan Wesley Spratlin, 25, of Lawrenceville, Ga., died Wednesday, July 23, 2003 from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Mr. Spratlin was born icon in Fulton County, Ga., Sept. 4, 1977. He had attended school in Lamar County where he played football and baseball. He was employed at the ACS Communication Co. and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are son, Bryan Wesley Smith Jr. of Woodstock, Ga.; parents, Susan and Billy York of Milner; sister and brother-in-law, Sonia and Chris McLemore of Williamson; brother, Billy Shawn York of Milner; grandparents, Ida Spratlin of Newnan, Bobby and Cleta York of Milner; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A funeral will be Saturday, July 26 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home, 1891 W. McIntosh Rd. in Griffin. The Rev. O. C. Collins and Rev. Joe Strickland will officiate. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may visit the family Friday evening, July 25, from 7-9 p.m. at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home, Griffin, Ga.

Mr. Fred Thomas
Mr. Fred Thomas, 76, of Newnan, Ga., died Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at Newnan Hospital West in Newnan.

He was a member of St. George Catholic Church. He was born icon in Banning, Ga. Feb. 26, 1927, son of Roy Broughton Thomas and Gertrude Lyles Thomas. He graduated from Newnan High School and attended Perry Business School in LaGrange, Ga.

After being drafted into service in World War II, he served in Italy in the 88th Blue Devils Division of the Army. He served from 1945-1947, and during that time he met General Dwight David Eisenhower during an inspection of his battallion. General Eisenhower asked where he was from, and when Mr. Thomas told him that he was from Georgia, General Eisenhower said "Good quail hunting down there." He married icon Josephine Sbrugnera from Capriva, Italy on April 9, 1947. He retired from the James River Corporation in the accounting department in 1989. He loved the Braves, baseball, home movies and music. He loved working around his home. His love of family and friends was the most important thing in his life. Most recently he worked part-time at Lowe's.

Surviving are his wife Josephine Thomas; two daughters, Rita (Thomas) Melville and son-in-law Rick Melville of Newnan, and Lindas (Thomas) Cockrill of Marietta, Ga.; sister, Dorothy Huey of Canton, Ga.; brother, Bobby Thomas of Newnan.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 25. Rosary will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m. following the visitation.

A funeral will be at St. George Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26 with Father Jorge Christancho officiating. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. George Catholic Church Building Fund.

Mrs. Ruth French, 87, of Cumming, Ga., died Wednesday, July 23, 2003.

She had been active in Forsyth County for more than 20 years as a Realtor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius French Sr. and son Julius French Jr.

Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Cynthia French, Cumming; grandchildren, Terri Morris and Lisa Johnson, Jeffrey and Jennifer French, Candace Mullins, Carl Dodson, Crystal Parker, Carolyn Dodson; sister, Ethel Bruner of Newnan; and other relatives.

A funeral is Friday, July 25 at 1 p.m. at Freedom Tabernacle Church in Cumming, Ga. Rev. Larry French, Rev. Robbie Mathis officiating. The remains will be placed in state at the church at 12:30 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Union Methodist Cemetery in Buena Vista, Ga. at 6 p.m

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, July 24, from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Mrs. Fannie B. Davis of Palmetto, Ga., died July 21, 2003.

She was born icon September 14, 1918 in Gwinnett County, Ga.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, David and Karen Jones of Sharpsburg; Steve and Robbie Cochran of Dallas; sons and daughter-in-law, Roy Davis, Palmetto; Mitch and Karen Davis of Palmetto; grandchildren, Leah Cochran, Jeff Davis, Jamie and Scott Farr and Heather Jones.

A funeral will be held Wednesday, July 23 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. Rev. Tom Edwards and Rev. Ralph Bobo officiating. Burial in Sharon Memorial Gardens.

The family was receiving friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m.

Mrs. Barbara Ann Duncan, 76, of Griffin, Ga., died Monday, July 21, 2003 at the Christian Ministries Hospice.

Mrs. Duncan was born icon in Coweta County July 5, 1927 to the late Grover Dewitt Martin and the late Vannie Phillips Martin. She was a librarian assistant with The Orlando Public Library in Orlando, Florida and was a member of the Destiny Church in Winter Park, Florida.

Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Paul H. Duncan; son and daughter-in-law, Paul H. Duncan Jr. and Sharon J. Duncan of MO; grandchildren, John Paul Duncan of Salt Lake City, Karen Lynn and Erick Damon Brown of Augusta; great-grandchildren, Christian Allen Duncan, Taron Rahe Brown, Damien Robert Brown, Erica Danielle Brown; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be Thursday, July 24 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Rev. Jim George, Rev. B. F. McCall, Rev. David Hill officiating. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, Ga.

She was a nurse anesthetist and was of the Baptist faith.

Family and friends are asked to assemble at the residence, 688 Clearwater Lake Rd., Sharpburg, Ga. at 1 p.m.

Mr. McCauley was born icon July 7, 1966 to Mr. O. L. Thrash and Mrs. Mary Ann McCauley. As a youth he attended school in Coweta and Meriwether Counties. He joined the Rising Star Baptist Church at an early age. Preceding him in death were his father, Mr. O. L. Thrash; stepfather, Mr. Charlie Lee "Toot" McCauley; brother, Arthur McCauley; grandmothers, Mrs. Clara Ferrell and Mrs. Georgia McCauley; grandfathers, Mr. Will Thrash and Mr. Charlie McCauley Sr.

Surviving are mother, Mrs. Mary Ann McCauley; three brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester (Diane) McCauley, Mr. and Mrs. George (Mary) McCauley, and Mr. Charlie (Pee-Wee) McCauley; two sisters, Mrs. Christine Adams and Mrs. Georgia Ann Williams; grandmother, Mrs. Essie Kate Thrash; six nieces, two nephews, one great-niece; four great nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Ana Maude Shelnutt Harcrow Levens, 94, of Heard County, Ga., died Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at the Franklin Health Care Center in Franklin, Ga.

A funeral was Thursday, July 17, at the Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Talmadge Chandler officiating. Music was provided by the Steve Rowell family, which includes Mrs. Levens' grandson-in-law, Steve, and great-grandchildren Sandy, Susanna and Scottie. Pallbearers were Merrill Harcrow, Doyle Harcrow, Neil Harcrow, Kim Harcrow, Brandon Harcrow and Johnny Thompson, all grandsons and great-grandsons of Mrs. Levens. Burial was in Centralhatchee Cemetery.

Mrs. Levens was born icon in Heard County April 18, 1909 to the late George Jeferson Shelnutt and Lula Gladney Shelnutt. She was a former machine operator for the Baby Close Manufacturing Company in Franklin, Ga. and a member of the Riverside Methodist Church in Macon, Ga. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Johnny C. Harcrow, and Lance Bernard Levens; daughter, Alzyrene Thompson Smith; grandson, Dennis Harcrow; and one great-grandson, Henry Rowell.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Riley and Wanda Harcrow, and Fred and Geneva Harcrow, all of Franklin, Ga.; eight grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.
