Mr. Henry Donald Arrington, 73, of Newnan, died July 16, 2003 at Avalon Starcrest Nursing Home in Newnan.

He was born November 29, 1929 in Coweta County to Willie Paul and Janie Lee (Pendergrast) Arrington.

He was a self-employed auto mechanic all his life and a member of Happy Valley Baptist Church.

A funeral will be at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home in Newnan Friday, July 18, at 4 p.m.

Visitation was Thursday from 6-9 p.m.

Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Carl Calhoun and the Rev. Tommy Dunn offficiating. Pallbearers are Roger Norman, Scott Lawrence, Lee Edwards, Donnie Blankenship, Charles Chambers and Joseph Meadows.

Surviving are his wife, Imogene (Harden) Arrington; daughters, Lynelle Norton and Donna Jean Dunlap, both of Newnan; sons, Lamar Arrington of Moreland, Donald Arrington of Lakewood, FL, Tony Arrington of North Carolina; brother, Melvin Arrington of Bowdon; sisters, Virginia Groover and Bernice Broome of Newnan, Dorothy Krofchick of Columbia, S.C.; several step-children.

Mrs. Regina Baird Counts
Mrs. Regina Baird Counts, 42, a native Atlantan, died July 15, 2003.

Mrs. Counts graduated from Riverwood High School and DeKalb College and went on to work many years in the dental field, most recently at Goldstein-Garber-Salama and Gribble. Since her marriage, she has worked for the family business, Meriwether Industrial Supply. She was a longtime member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Counts was preceded in death by her father, Charles O. Baird Jr.

Surviving are her husband, John Counts; mother, Virginia Baird Krout and her husband Donahue; brothers, Brentson Baird and Samuel Green III; John's parents Ralph and Ann Counts, Rocky Mt., Ga.; brother-in-law, Ralph Counts III; sisters-in-law, Tracy Ann DeVore and Janice Kay Jacobs, all of Meriwether County.

A funeral is Saturday, July 19, at 10 a.m. at Spring Hill in Atlanta. The committal service will be 1 p.m. at Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church Cemetery in Meriwehter County.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at H.M. Patterson and Son, Spring Hill, Spring Street, Atlanta.

Mrs. Sallie Whatley
A funeral for Mrs. Sallie Whatley of Senoia, Ga., will be Saturday, July 19, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Moreland, Ga.

Rev. Ed Johnson officiating, assisted by Rev. Steve Dennis, Rev. B. T. Moore and other ministers. Burial in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers are Ricky Myster, Dedrick Willis, Nicholas Johnson, Kien Reid, Darrell Tenney, Montinez Whatley, Vinson Whatley, James Watson and Cordero Black.

Mrs. Whatley was born June 9, 1912 to the late Ms. Cora Simmons. She joined the Mt. Carmel A. M. E. Church at an early age, where she served faithfully until her health prevented her. She was married to the late Mr. Andrew Whatley, and they had six sons and six daughters.

Surviving are two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin (Corene) Bridges and Mr. and Mrs. John (Ora) Feariby; brother, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe (Ruby) Simmons; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Gladys Whatley; sons-in-law, Mr. Levi Willis and Mr. Calvin Boyd; 21 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

Deacon Rufus Watson
Deacon Rufus Watson of Senoia, Ga., died Sunday, July 13, 2003 in Jonesboro, Ga.

A funeral will be Saturday, July 19 at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church on Seavy Street in Senoia, with the remains placed in state at the church from noon until the hour of the service. The Rev. Nelson, pastor, Bishop Milton Holston, officiating, assisted by Pastor J. H. Child, Pastor A. G. Baker. Burial in Rocky Mt. Bethel Church Cemetery in Luthersville, Ga. Pallbearers are Jodell Watson, Kevin Brooks, Earnest Ingram, Timothy Puckett, David Brooks, Gregory Longino. Flower bearers are Brenda Holston, Annie Alexander, Jewell Fowler, Sharon Fowler, Tammy Harris, Jackie Smith and LaShon Watson.

Mr. Watson was born April 30, 1925 in Meriwether County, Ga. to the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry (Ophelia) Watson. He was married to Marjorie Watson who preceded him in death. He retired from Clayton County Government as a truck driver with the Public Works Department.

Surviving are seven children, Luvonia Gates, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy (Regina) Gates, Mr. and Mrs. Vernard (Ruby) Bowden, all of Atlanta, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. Ray (Judy) Fowler of Senoia, Cora Watson, Riverdale, Marjorie Jane Watson, Lithonia, and Rufus Wayne Watson, Atlanta; sister, Jessie Harden, Atlanta; three brothers, Deacon and Mrs. Olin (Tommie Lou) Watson, Senoia, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph (Lizzie Mae) Watson, Newnan; Mr. and Mrs. Russell (Mable) Watson of Dayton, Ohio; 24 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Maggie Watson; godson, Hamilton Watson of McDonough; special nephew, Willie Frank Green of Senoia; special friends of the family, Polly, Rita and Cedric; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Family and friends are asked to assemble Saturday, July 19, 2003 at the home of his daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ray (Judy) Fowler, 7911 Wells St., Senoia, Ga. at 1 p.m.

Mr. Charles Baldwin of Fairburn, Ga. died July 14, 2003.

Mr. Baldwin was born Nov. 11, 1948 in Fulton County, Ga. He retired from Delta Air Lines after 32 years of service. He was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Baldwin, and is survived by wife, Mrs. Barbara Miller Baldwin of Fairburn; son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Andy and Julie Baldwin, Palmetto; step-children, Mr. and Mrs. Victor and Sherry Fountain, Palmetto; Mr. and Mrs. Buddy and Bridget Miller of Franklin, Ga.; brother, Mr. and Mrs. William (Billy and Gale) Baldwin of Fairburn; grandchildren, Andrew Baldwin and Jessalyn Miller.

Miss Jennifer Whitney Brown, 15, of Newnan, Ga., died July 12, 2003.

A funeral will be at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan Thursday, July 17 at 6 p.m. The Rev. Joe Strickland and Rev. Ed Martin will officiate.

Miss Brown, a student at Newnan High School, was born in Newnan Nov. 19, 1987 to John Brown and Lisa Weber Brown. Also surviving are grandparents, Sallie and Jack Hanshew of Peachtree City, Ga., Frank and Brenda Brown of Newnan, Ga., David and Judy Weber of Ft. Pierce, Fla., and Dianna and Lee Kraus of Orlando, Fla.; great-grandmother, Ruth Kraus of Altamont Springs, Fla.; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family requests that living flowers be sent to be planted in a memorial garden in her memory.

Ms. Catherine H. Cotton, 86, of Luther Bailey Road, Senoia, Ga., died Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at Newnan Hospital in Newnan, Ga.

She was born April 16, 1917 in Anderson County, South Carolina, daughter of James Ansel Hancock and Nellie Ingram Hancock. She was a sewing machine operator for Carters in Thomaston, Ga. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

A funeral will be at Woodbury United Methodist Church Thursday, July 17 at 2 p.m. The Rev. Grif Jones and Rev. Steve Davidson officiating. Burial in Southview Cemetery in Thomaston, Ga.

Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Jean Cotton, Senoia, Ga.; sister, Neta Smith, Calhoun, Ga.; brother, Billy C. Hancock, Nashville, N.C.; two grandchildren, Karen and Mark Cotton; several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Duck, 60, of Jonesboro, Ga., died July 15, 2003 at Fayette Community Hospital.

She was born Feb. 3, 1943 in Henry County, Ga. to John R. and Bessie (Hobbs) Elliott. She was a school bus driver in Clayton County for many years. She was a member of Rebekah Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Earl Duck.

A funeral will be at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home in Newnan Friday, July 18 at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Camp Memorial Park in Fayetteville. The Rev. Ray Popham will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jerry Mallett, Tony Avery, David Hilley, Randy Duck, David Elliott and Gerald Henry.

The family was receiving friends Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and open visitation will be held Thursday.

Ms. Ola L. (Susie) Huggins
Ms. Ola L. (Susie) Huggins, 84, of Newnan, Ga., will be remembered at a funeral Thursday, July 17, 2003 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Sargent, Ga.

Rev. John Farmer will officiate, assisted by Rev. J. W. Russell Sr., Rev. G. B. Vaughn and Rev. J. W. Russell Jr. Burial in the church cemetery. Family friends will serve as pallbearers.

She was born Sept. 13, 1918 to Mullis and Odessa (Simmons) Huggins in Coweta County. "Ms. Susie," as she was affectionately called, accepted the teachings of Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church, in Sargent, where she remained a member until her death.

Friends remember her smile and laughter, and her courage to face life's obstacles. During her own personal battle with failing health she never complained and always gave a smile.

Her parents preceded her in death, as did her caregivers, Mr. Walter and Mrs. Florine Ogletree.

Surviving are several cousins and her "family" at the Department of Family and Children's Services.

Mr. Herbert Dorsey Manning Jr., 63, of Newnan, Ga., died July 14, 2003.

He was born Dec. 2, 1939 in Fulton County, Ga.

A funeral will be Friday, July 18, at 11 a.m. in the Horis A. Ward's Fairview Chapel with the Rev. Eley officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge, Ga.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Manning was a member of the Morrow Masonic Lodge and retired as police chief from the Morrow Police Department. The family has requested contributions be made to the Diabetes Association, 1 Corporate Blvd., N.E., Atlanta, Ga. 30329.

Surviving are his wife, June E. Manning of Newnan; daughters, Melanie and Mark Goodson of Newnan, Alisha and Lee King of Sharpsburg; son, Michael and Diane Manning of Sharpsburg; brother, Bennie and Betty Sue Manning of Woodstock; six grandchildren, Chyna, Jazmin, Stormy, Stasha, Haley and Brittan; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Robert L. Wilson of Brooks, Ga. died July 15, 2003.

Mr. Wilson was born September 5, 1943 in Fulton County, Ga. He was the owner and operator of Wilson's BP Car Care in College Park.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pamela Q. Wilson of Brooks; sons, Mr. Robert J. Wilson of Brooks, Mr. Randy L. Wilson, Fayetteville; brother, Mr. Ernest Lamar (Dot) Wilson of Homerville, Ga.; grandchildren, Laura, Lyndsay, Logan, Luke and Landon Wilson.

Ms. Myrna "Mickey" Pickett of Boca Raton, Florida and formerly of College Park, Ga., died July 9, 2003.

She was a graduate of Bob Jones University and received her Master of Theology degree from Faith Theological Seminary. Ms. Pickett served as a missionary for 35 years with Friends of Israel.

Surviving are her brother, Robert "Bob" (Mary) Pickett, Calhoun; sister, Joyce (Greg) Hofer, Newnan; nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be Wednesday, July 16 at 1:30 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Roger M. Feltman, 59, of Newnan, Ga., died Monday, July 14, 2003 at Hospice LaGrange in LaGrange, Ga.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, Ga. The Rev. David Arrington will officiate and burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Mr. Feltman was born Dec. 17, 1943 in Newnan and was a lifelong resident of Coweta County. He was employed as a roofer.

Surviving are his mother, Ruth Crook Wellborn of Newnan; four sisters, Wanda Gaddy of Greenville, Darlene Bearden and Nellie Jo Thacker, both of Newnan, and Mary Feltman of Moreland; three brothers, Darwin Watkins and Larry Hayes, both of Newnan, and Sandy Feltman of Haralson; a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Feltman.

Mrs. Annie Ruth Glanton, 84, of West Main Street in Hogansville, Ga. died Saturday, July 12, 2003.

She lived a long, fruitful life as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her outgoing personality led to a 37-year career selling Avon. She was fondly known as the Avon Lady.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Thomas.

Surviving are her husband, Isaac; children, Thomas W. (Baby Brother) and Maudestine Glanton Sr., Dahleen Glanton, Winston E. and Sharon Glanton; and grandchildren, Camilla Sutton, Melvin Thomas, Thomas W. Glanton Jr., Edith Ruth Glanton and Darion Earl Glanton; six great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Thomaston and Arvella Turnipseed; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral is Wednesday, July 16 at 3 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church in Hogansville, Ga. Rev. Joseph McGuire will officiate. Burial in Westview Cemetery.

Mrs. Essie Mae Poindexter Smith, Mary Freeman Road, Newnan, Ga., died Saturday, July 12, 2003 at her residence.

A funeral will be Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at noon at Sunny Side Baptist Church, Greenville, Ga. with remains placed in state at 11 a.m.

The Rev. L. C. Godfrey, pastor; the Rev. Chunn officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers are the Deacon Board, and active pallbearers will be family and friends; honorary flower ladies are the Mother Board, with active flower bearers being family and friends.

Mrs. Smith was born in Meriwether County Feb. 5, 1922 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Author Poindexter (Mary Liza). She was the sixth of seven children. Her education began at the Sunny Side School where she also was a faithful member. She married Rev. Banjamin Smith and reared his four children. She touched the lives of many people of all colors with a caring and loving heart.

Surviving are husband, Rev. Benjamin Smith; children, Rev. and Mrs. Willie Glenn (Boochie) Lillie Green Smith, Rev. Harvelle (Tang) Smith Sr., James Alvin Smith (Red), and Mary Deloris Smith (Pete); sister, Pearl Lou Strayham; ten grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Ruby S. Elliott, Newnan; sister-in-law, Mattie Moody, Atlanta, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Arnold (Mary) of Newnan, GA., Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Williams (Ruby) Ellenwood, Ga., Ms. Rosa S. Hudson, Newnan; brother-in-law, John H. Smith, Atlanta, Mr. and Mrs. Willie A. Smith, Decatur, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Smith, Willie Reeves of Newnan; a host of other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A funeral is 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 15 at Sellers-Smith R.W.S. Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Irish Adams officiating. Burial will be in the Eastview Cemetery in Newnan.

Mrs. Curline Woodard was born Oct. 18, 1935 in Carrollton. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Miller (Pearl Lee). She joined Mount Calvary Baptist Church at an early age and later attended New Horizon Praise and Worship Center.

She was the widow of Nathaniel Woodard Sr. and preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Horace Crowder.

Survivors include eight children, Angelia Woodard, Newnan; Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Woodard Jr. (Mattie Lois) of Louisiana, Mr. and Mrs. Willie C. Colton (Shelia) of Newnan, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Bolton (Pearline) of Newnan, Mr. and Mrs. Boris Woodard (Susan) of Marietta, Stettinius Woodard of Sargent, Mr. and Mrs. Larry D. Woodard (Gwen) of Newnan and Mr. and Mrs. Kelvin Woodard Sr. (Linda) of Senoia; brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. William Donald (Annie Ruth); three sisters, Mrs. Parthenia Crowder, Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Barber Sr. (Julie Mae) and Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Price (Helen); 25 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; lifelong friend Ms. Wansley Harris; special devoted friend Ms. Luly Prince; nieces, nephews and friends.
