Miss Sarah Ann Hinesley
Miss Sarah Ann Hinesley, 69, of Newnan, Ga., died Friday, Aug. 8, 2003 at the home of her brother, Harley, in Moreland.

She was born Aug. 26, 1933 in Coweta County, the daughter of the late Ramond E. and Annie Lou Watson Hinesley. She was a member of Lovejoy Memorial Methodist Church and was a retired telephone operator with Bell South.

Surviving are her brothers, Harley Hinesley and his wife, Edwina of Newnan, Sonny Hinesley and his wife Emma of Newnan, and Tom Hinesley of Newnan; nephews, Eddie, Harley and Lee Hinesley; niece, Susan Lambert.

A memorial service was held Sunday, Aug. 10 at 4 p.m. at Lovejoy Memorial Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Martin officiating. The family received friends following the service at the church.

It was the request of the family that memorial contributions be made in Sarah Ann's memory to The Lovejoy Memorial Methodist Church, 60 East Washington Street, Newnan, Ga. 30263.

Mr. Oren Preston Fulmer
Mr. Oren Preston Fulmer, 92, of Newnan, Ga., died Aug. 20, 2003 at his residence.

Mr. Fulmer was born May 24, 1911 in Toombs County, Ga. to Preston Thomas Fulmer and Josephine Temples Fulmer. He was married to the late Sara Victoria Windham Fulmer for 58 years.

Mr. Fulmer earned AB and BS degrees from the University of Georgia and a Master's degree from Mercer University. His career as an educator and administrator spanned 37 years. Most of his career was spent teaching math at Lanier High School in Macon, Ga. He retired as the principal of Redding Elementary School in Bibb County and Moved to Blakely, Ga.

Mr. Fulmer was active in the Cherokee Baptist Church of Macon where he taught Sunday School and served as chairman of the Board of Deacons. He continued to be an active member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Blakely. After moving to Newnan in 1996, Mr. Fulmer joined the First Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons and their wives, Preston and Teena Fulmer of Newnan and Bob and Camille Fulmer of Athens, Ga.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at graveside in Macon Memorial Park in Macon, Ga., Friday, Aug. 22 at 3 p.m. Dr. Gene Tyre and Rev. Martha Fulmer Smith will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, make donations to the Georgia Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 329, Palmetto, Ga. 30268.

Mrs. Adele (Dell) McCreary
Mrs. Adele (Dell) McCreary of Peachtree City, Ga., died Aug. 20, 2003.

She was born July 26, 1922 in New Zealand. She was the widow of the late "Mr. Mac" McCreary, who died in 1999. A true Kiwi from New Zealand, she moved to Peachtree City in 1969 and worked at NCR for 15 years.

Surviivng are three children, Craig, Brian and Deb; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister in California and wonderful friends .

At her request there will not be any services.

Donations may be made in her memory to the National Kidney Foundation of Ga., 2951 Flowers Road South, Suite 211, Atlanta, Ga. 30341.

Mrs. Elease Gresham
Mrs. Elease Gresham, 66, of Collier Drive N.W., Atlanta, Ga., died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003.

A funeral was Aug. 16 at 11 a.m. at White Plains United Methodist Church in the St. Mark Community. Rev. Ed Geter officiated. Burial was in the Camp Ground Cemetery.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Harris (Sharon); three sisters, Juanita Broughton, Carrie B. Harden and Lillie H. Coleman; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hardaway; a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation was Aug. 15 at Young Funeral Home, Hank Aaron Drive, Atlanta, Ga.

Mrs. Sara Louise (Gilbert) Griffin
Mrs. Sara Louise (Gilbert) Griffin, 89, of Newnan, Ga., died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003 at her residence.

She was the daughter of the late David Gilbert and the late Jessie (Gardner) Gilbert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Leroy Griffin in 1967.

Surviving are daughter, Brenda Duncan of Newnan; son, David Byrom Griffin of Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21.

A funeral is at McKoon's chapel 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22. The Rev. Rick Duncan officiating. Burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Promise J. Moffett
Mrs. Promise Joy Kloss Moffett, 99, of Mount Aetna Road, Hagerstown, Maryland, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, at her home.

Mrs. Moffett was born Aug. 16, 1903, in Crandon, Wis., daughter of the late Jethro and Carrie Stilson Kloss. Jethro Kloss was an herbalist, food scientist, lecturer, writer, minister, teacher and advocate of natural healing. He wrote "Back to Eden" in 1939, and Mrs. Moffett later updated the book for republication.

She was married to Walter Moffett, a Seventh-day Adventist pastor, who died in 1976.

Mrs. Moffett attended Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, Md. She was employed as executive secretary to the editor with the Review and Herald Publishing Company. She retired in 1966 after 35 years of service.

Mrs. Moffett was a member of Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church.

A funeral was held Monday, Aug. 18, at Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor James Hoffer officiating. Burial followed at George Washington Cemetery in Hagerstown.

Survivors include a step-daughter, Virginia Caldwell Hibbs. Mrs. Hibbs is the widow of Coweta-born novelist Erskine Caldwell and honorary chairman of the Erskine Caldwell Birthplace and Museum in Moreland.

Mr. Dennis Lee Griffin
Mr. Dennis Lee Griffin, 64, of Newnan, Ga., died Aug. 8, 2003, at his residence.

Mr. Griffin was born Sept. 17, 1938 in Coweta County to L. D. and Tempie Ruth Griffin, both of whom preceded him in death. Mr. Griffin was a member and deacon of Royal Baptist Church. He was employed by Caldwell Tanks. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Millard P. Griffin, daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Michael Newman and two grandchildren.

The family received friends at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan Saturday, Aug. 9 from 6-8 p.m.

A funeral was held at Royal Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Dennis and the Rev. Franklin Treadwell officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Tim Lassetter, Coleman Lassetter, Hubert Smith, Tom Hill, Todd Moore, Scott Moore, Tony Neja and Ron Hale.

Surviving are wife, Sonja Griffin of Newnan; daughter, Libby Stripling and her fiancé George Applegate of Newnan; son and daughter-in-law, Blake and Stacie Griffin of Grantville; son-in-law, Robert Stripling of Newnan; six grandchildren.

Mrs. Delores Tumlin
Mrs. Charlotte Delores Tumlin, 70, of Hogansville, Ga. and Atlanta, Ga., died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at the William Breman Jewish Home in Atlanta.

A funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at graveside in Liberty Hill Cemetery in Acworth, with the Rev. Connie L. Tuttle officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20.

Mrs. Tumlin was born Oct. 28, 1932 in Atlanta, daughter of the late Paul and Grace Maxey Bradford. Wife of the late George Edward Tumlin Sr., she was a devoted mother and wife and raised four children while also working as a bookkeeper and administrator. She was a Baptist for most of her life, later worshiping at Presbyterian and Methodist churches; and at the time of her death, was a member of Circle of Grace Community Church in Decatur, Ga.

Surviving are children, Jeffrey Allen Tumlin of Hogansville, Michael Dean Tumlin and his wife, Sherry of Carrollton, George E. Tumlin Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Lanett, Ala., and Cynthia Ann Tumlin of Decatur; her grandchildren, Jonathan, Sarah Nicole, Kathleen, Brittany and Anna Tumlin; sister and brother-in-law, Paulette and Carey Couch of McDonough; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Derald and JoAnn Tumlin of Acworth; sister-in-law, Joan Bradford of Riverdale; many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Annie Ruth Leigh, formerly of Hogansville, Ga., died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003 in Columbus, Ga.

The family will be at 101 Burden Dr. in Hogansville, Ga.

A funeral will be Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 2 p.m. at St. Mary United Methodist Church in Hogansville, Ga. Rev. Gregory Williams will officiate, and and burial will be in St. Paul C.M.E. Cemetery in the Lone Oak Community.

Surviving are son, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Leigh (Wenonah); grandson, Mr.and Mrs. Larry Leigh II (Shemeca); granddaughter, Alanda T. Leigh; four great-grandchildren, Jalylen, Kaitlyn, Kameron and Joshua, all of Columbus, Ga.; two sisters, Bessie Hardy of Columbus and Laura Russell of Hogansville, Ga.; brother, Herman Sewell of Hogansville, Ga.; extended brother, Lewis Jackson (Jessie Mae); three sisters-in-law, Catherine Sewell and Eura Mae Sewell of Hogansville, and Alice L. Mrs. Mary Ann McEwen, 69, of Newnan, Ga., died Aug. 17, 2003 in Riverdale, Ga.

Mrs. McEwen was born Aug. 23, 1933 in Black Oak, AR.

A funeral is Tuesday, Aug. 19 at 11 a.m. at McKoon Funeral Home chapel. Dr. Tim Driggers and Dr. James Stewart will officiate. Burial is in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.

The family was receiving friends Monday, Aug. 18, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Surviving are her husband, Bill McEwen; son, Roger McEwen of Newnan; daughter, Jill and Don Lassetter of China Grove, NC; brother, George and Blanche Fraysure of Newberry Springs, CA; sisters, Louise Hawkins of Newberry Springs, CA, and Quin Obbards of Wilmington, CA; grandchildren, Jordan Lassetter of China Grove, NC, Morgan Lassetter of China Grove, NC, Nicholas McEwen of Newnan and Taylor McEwen of Newnan; nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that memorials be made to Mills Chapel Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.

Rev. Robert L. Ware
Rev. Robert L. Ware of Highway 27 in Centralhatchee, Ga., died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003 at his home.

Rev. Ware was a native of Troup County and was the son of the late Ales James and Dovie Lovelace Ware. He was preceded in death by wife, Caroline Wynn Ware. He was a member and minister of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Franklin.

Surviving are children, Rev. J. R. Ware of LaGrange, Mrs. Dovie Philpot of Franklin, Ga., Mrs. Carrie Darden of LaGrange, Mrs. Fannie Crump, Mr. John C. Ware of Atlanta; brother, Roosevelt Ware of Carrollton; four sisters, Imogene Daniel of Franklin, Mary Johnson of Mechanicsville, VA, Geneva Ware of Chattanooga, Tenn., Bessie Hill of Newnan; 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; sons- and daughters-in-law; sisters- and brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral will be Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 1 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Highway 34 in Franklin. Rev. C.. F. Reed will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will be at their home and will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday fro 7-8 p.m.

Mrs. Debbie Pittman Standard
Mrs. Debbie Pittman Standard, 44, of Columbus, GA, and a former resident of Hogansville, GA died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus.

Born Nov. 8, 1958, Mrs. Standard lived in Troup County most of her life before making her home in Columbus three years ago. She was a member of the Baptist church.

She was preceded in death by her father James A. Pittman.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 18 at the graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, with the Reverend R.C. Prescott officiating.

Survivors include her fiance Walter Williams of Columbus; daughter Jaffery Akhawala; granddaughter Paedon Seals, both of LaGrange, GA; mother Ella Mae Pittman of Hogansville; three sisters and their husbands, Jean Johnson, Diane and Ronnie Evans all of Hogansville, and Betty and Levon Pendergrass of Athens, AL; brother and sister in-law James A., Jr. and Carol Pittman of Hogansville; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Sue Ikawa Wood
Mrs. Sue Ikawa Wood, 76, of Newnan, GA died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003 at Newnan Hospital East. She was an active member of the Tommy Thompson Senior Center and the White Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She married the late James Wood in 1951 in Yokohama, Japan while he was serving in the U.S. Army.

The funeral service was Sunday, Aug. 17 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, with Reverend L. O. Thompson and Reverend Rhodes Skinner officiating. Burial will follow at the White Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church cemetery. The family received friends Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003 at McKoon Funeral Home between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The family has asked that flowers be omitted and contributions be made to the Tommy Thompson Senior Center.

She is survived by her daughters; Ann and Mark McLean of Newnan, Brenda McKoon of Newnan, Janice Wood of Atlantic Beach, FL, Carol and Bud Long of Winston, GA, Janet Brown of Newnan; sons Jimmy and Lynne Wood of Nashville, TN, Lenn and Theresa Wood of Newnan, and Thomas and Sherri Wood of Newnan; a brother-in-law, Pete and Sharyn Wood of Jacksonville, FL; a brother, Yukio Fukada of Osaka, Japan; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Randall A. Narramore, 70, of Newnan, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003.

He was born Feb. 7, 1933, in Sequatchie County, TN.

Survivors include brothers and sisters; Bernice Cain, Curtis Narramore, Luree "Boots" Johnson, Norma Hixson, Anna Marie Henry, Lois Capehart and their families; and five children, Cindy Neely, Sherry Weeks, Lee Narramore, Jimmy Narramore and Shelly Humphrey.

Services will be held Monday, Aug. 18, 2003 at 10 a.m. at Putnam-Standefur-Reed Funeral Home, Inc. in Dunlap, TN. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Family will receive visitors today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

An informal gathering was held at Randall Narramore's home on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003 at 1 p.m. at 621 Herring Road, Newnan.

Mr. Willie I. Paige
Mr. Willie Irvin Page died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003. He was born on March 21, 1934, to the late Mr. Arthur and Mrs. Lucy Mae Paige of Newnan.

At an early age, he joined the Shady Grove Baptist Church where he sang in the church choir. Funeral Services for Mr. Willie I. Paige will be today at 2:20 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Sargent. Rev. Willie L. Geter will officiate, assisted by Rev. Rufus Turner, Rev. T. L. Harris and Evangelist Barbara Harmon. Internment will follow at the church cemetery.

Pall Bearers will be Johnnie McAfee, Johnnie Cook, Finley Walker, Robert Hinton, Wallace McWilliams, Clarence Freeman, Jr. and Cleuphus Echols.

He was married to Mrs. Katheryn Walker and has one daughter, Earlene, and a stepson, Bruce. After 20 years of dedicated service to the city of Newnan, he retired due to his health.

Mr. Willie Irvin Paige was a fun loving, caring and very humorous person. He enjoyed living a fun-filled life. He was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel "Jimmy" Harmon.

Survivors include a caring wife, Mrs. Katheryn Paige; a daughter, Mrs. Earlene Okafor (Emmanuel); a grandson, Elijah Chike Okafor; a stepson, Mr. Bruce Atwater (Dianne); a step granddaughter, Courtney Atwater; three sisters, Mrs. Maude Hinton (Robert Hinton), Ms. Maxine Johnson, and Ms. Betty Hill; three brother, Mr. James Paige (Ann Paige), Mr. Leonard Paige and Mr. Frank Paige; two aunts, Ms. Emma Marchman and Ms. Mildred Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Minister Evelyn Dean Reid
Minister Evelyn Dean Reid of 5402 Pine Valley Drive, Union City, GA, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003 at Piedmont Hospital.

She was born to the late Robert and Geraldine Dean on March 28, 1951 in Meriwether County. She was the mother of one son who preceded her in death, Mr. Stanley J. Dean, and of one step daughter, Ms. Dedrick Snellings.

She was married to Mr. George E. Reid Jr. on Nov. 12, 1974.

Survivors include her husband, Mr. Reid; four grandchildren, Stanley J. Dean Jr., Jeremy Dean, Shakia Dean, and Randy Snellings; a daughter-in-law, Regina Dean; three sisters, Ms. Gladys Kenners, Mrs. Linda Bridges (Clarence) and Mrs. Gwendolyn Glass (Gregory); one brother, Mr. Jeremiah Dean (Linda); two brothers-in-law, Mr. William Reid and Mr. Edward Reid; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, family and friends.

A funeral service will be held Mon., Aug. 18, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. from the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Corinth, with remains placed in state at the church at noon. Pastor Johnny C. Strickland will officiate, assisted by Minister Gregory Glass, Nathaniel Walthal, and Pastor Gwendolyn Glass. Interment will be at the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery, Todd Road, Greenville, GA. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the residence on the day of the service at noon.
