Mr. Larry A. Beckham, 48, of Newnan, Ga., died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003.

A funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16 at Macedonia Baptist Church at Newnan. The Rev. John Riley will officiate, and burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.

The family was receiving friends at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15.

Born May 29, 1955 in Pike County, Mr. Beckham lived in Coweta County most of his life. He was a graduate of Newnan High School, was a U.S. Navy veteran, and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He was employed as a truck driver for Milliken and Company.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Denise Ward Beckham of Newnan; two daughters, Miss Stacy Beckham and Miss Cristy Beckham, both of Newnan; mother, Mrs. Myrtle Pearson Beckham, also of Newnan; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Dennis and Jo Beckham of Newnan and Ronnie Beckham of Grantville; four nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry James Beckham.

Mr. Jimmie Buell Jones
Mr. Jimmie Buell Jones, 87, formerly of Moreland, Ga., died Wednesday, Aug. 13 at Newnan Hospital.

He was born icon Nov. 5, 1915 in Carroll County to William Thomas Jones and Ada Bell Williams. He moved to Moreland around 1919. He loved sports and followed Newnan High School sports for many years. He played amateur baseball and coached in the Newnan Babe Ruth League.

He worked for Moreland Knitting Mills, Coweta Dairies and Atlanta Dairies cheese plant in Carrollton.

He was married icon to the former Mildred Estes of Rocky Mount, Ga.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Willis Jones of Bremen, Thelma Theresa Shuman of Decatur, Doris Bama Briton of Phoenix City, AL, and a twin brother, Arthur Buford Jones of Moreland.

Surviving are two sons, Jerry (Lisa) Jones of Cummings and Jimmy (Cathie) Jones of Newnan; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Visitation was Thursday, Aug. 14 at McKoon Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.

A funeral was Friday, Aug. 15 at 2 p.m. with Dr. Harry Barrow officiating. Burial was at Southview Cemetery in Moreland.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Del Jones, Daryl Jones, Jay Jones, Jon Jones, Tyler Jones and Palmer Jones.

Mr. Dwight "Pete" Tucker
Mr. Dwight "Pete" Tucker, 69, of College Park, Ga., died at Hospice Atlanta, Thursday, August 14, 2003, after an extended illness.

Mr. Tucker was born icon in 1933 to Dempsey and Ione Tucker in Berrien County, Georgia, where he grew up and graduated Willachoochee High School. After serving a tour of duty in the Army during the Korean Conflict, he settled in Atlanta and began a career as a heavy equipment operator. After retirement, he worked for A and W Nurseries in Newnan. A very giving and generous man, Mr. Tucker loved his family and divided his spare time between them and fishing.

Surviving are son, Douglas Tucker and his wife Cindy of Newnan, Ga.; two brothers, Herman Tucker and his wife, Amelia, of Pearson, Ga., and Ronnie Tucker and his wife Sharon of Winston Salem, N.C.; two sisters, Betty Teague and her husband Mac and Beverly Rayfield and her husband, Don, both of Winston Salem, N.C.; a granddaughter, Katie Tucker of Newnan; two grandsons, Brian and Justin Messer of Peachtree City; two step-sons, Clyde Messer of Roebuck, S.C. and James Messer of Peachtree City, Ga.; several nieces and nephews, many friends.

The family was receiving friends at Jones Funeral Home 5-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15.

A funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16 with the Rev. Thomas Shannon officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.

Mr. Earl R. Brunkhorst
Mr. Earl R. Brunkhorst, 79, of Newnan, Ga., died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003 at his residence in Newnan, Ga.

He was born icon Feb. 23, 1924, son of August F. Brunkhorst and Sadie Heims Brunkhorst. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Brunkhorst was a mechanical engineer and worked for RCA.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Brunkhorst of Newnan; three sons, Bob and Elaine Brunkhorst of Newnan, Will and Teddy Brunkhorst of New Hampshire, and David and Nancy Brunkhorst of Massachusetts; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to LaGrange Hospice, 1510 Vernon Road, LaGrange, Ga. 30240.

A funeral will be Saturday, Aug. 16 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Carl Green officiating.

Mrs. Carrie Dell Stewart, 91, formerly of Newnan, died Aug. 11, 2003.

A funeral will be Friday, Aug. 15, 2003 at 1 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church on Corinth Road, Newnan.

Rev. Clifford Davis officiating, assisted by Elder Henry Pounds and other ministers. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Family friends will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Stewart was born icon Dec. 9, 1911 to the late Charles and Cora Sims. She was married icon to the late Deacon Hudson Stewart. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church where she served on the Senior Usher Board.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Curtis Slater; and sons, Willie Fred Sims, George Sims and Robert Jackson.

Surviving are daughter, Katherine (George) Blue; sons, Joseph (Frances) Sims, Willie (Linda) Jackson and J. C. Sims; sister-in-law, Julie Smelling; guardian, granddaughter Margie Sims; daughter-in-law, Zadie Mae Sims; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Ralph White Burdett
Mr. Ralph White Burdett, 83, of Sharpsburg, Ga., died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003 at Newnan Hospital.

Mr. Burdett was born icon Aug. 2, 1920 in Franklin, Ga., to Homer E. and Lemma Chappelear Burdett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Morton Burdett.

Mr. Burdett was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and attended Cascade Methodist Church in Atlanta and Sharpsburg Baptist Church for many years. He was a member of Cascade Lodge in Atlanta and East Point Lodge #288 and the V.F.W. in Newnan. He served with the 57th Naval Construction Battalion, United States Navy, from 1942-45. He was employed for more than 30 years by McDougald/APAC Construction Company in Atlanta.

Surviving are daughter, Judith B. Conklin and friend, Ellis Grubbs of Sharpsburg; Kyle and Jessica Grubbs of Shiloh, and Stephen, Jill, Gavin and Addison Grubbs of Coral Springs, Fla., and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be Friday, Aug. 15 at the Burdett Family Cemetery in Franklin, Ga. Friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m.

Visitation is Thursday, Aug. 14 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mildred Corpening of Newnan, Ga., died Aug. 11, 2003.

She was a member of Heatherwood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband James Fredrick Corpening.

A funeral will be in the chapel of Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home in Peachtree City Thursday, Aug. 14 at 11 a.m. Rev. Tom Daugherty will officiate. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens in Peachtree City. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Aug. 13 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Diane) McCusker of Peachtree City and Mr. and Mrs. Curt (Gail) Coltson of Sterling Heights, Mich.; son, Mark A. Corpening of Jacksonville, FL; granddaughters, Jeff and Candy Rembisz of Peachtree City, Summer McCusker of Peachtree City and Sarah McCusker of Oxford, Miss.; great-grandchildren, Skylar Rembisz and Logan Rembisz; brothers, Ernest Johnson and Haskel Johnson, both of Cooksville, TN; and sister, Ruby Coffmann of Cooksville, TN.

Mr. William Jerry Mitchell
Mr. William Jerry Mitchell, 69, of Newnan, Ga., died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003.

A native of East Point, Ga., Mr. Mitchell was the son of Eugene and Bess Dameron Mitchell. He graduated from Russell High School and Georgia State University, and served in the Armed Forces in the 1950s. Mr. Mitchell retired from a lengthy tenure at General Services Administration in 1991 and spent his retirement traveling, tending his garden, and spending many happy times with his family and friends. He was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Hampton, Ga. and was looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild in September.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Shirley Williams Mitchell; son and daughter-in-law, Darren and Martha Lynn Mitchell, all of Newnan. He is also survived by aunts, Mary Mitchell Floyd of Jonesboro and Bernice Dameron Blanchet of Beaufort, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Cora Mitchell of East Point; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is Wednesday, Aug. 13, from 7-9 p.m. at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel.

A funeral is Thursday, Aug. 14 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Hampton, Ga., with the Rev. Billy Lewis and Rev. Michael Johns officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Remains will be placed in state at 1 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Mildred Corpening
Mrs. Mildred Corpening, 75, of Newnan, Ga., died Aug. 11, 2003.

She was born icon June 10, 1928. She was a member of Heatherwood Baptist Church.

A funeral will be in the chapel of Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home in Peachtree City Thursday, Aug. 14 at 11 a.m. Rev. Tom Daughtery will officiate. Burial in Westminster Memorial Gardens in Peachtree City.

Mr. Thomas Lee Garland
Mr. Thomas Lee Garland, 74, of Newnan, Ga., died Aug. 11, 2003 at his residence.

He was born icon July 5, 1929 in Murphy, N.C., to Lee and Susie (Foster) Garland, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a member of Victory Tabernacle Church. He was retired from Sears and Roebuck as a truck driver for more than 30 years of service. He loved fishing with his grandchildren. He was a "fixer." He enjoyed repairing things for his neighbors and his family.

A funeral is at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel in Newnan Thursday, Aug. 14 at 2 p.m. The family was receiving friends Tuesday, Aug. 12 from 7-8 p.m. and will do so again Wednesday, Aug. 13 at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Rev. Jimmy Henry is officiating. Pallbearers will be Steve Wright, Harry Bryant, Terry John Campbell, Isreal Campbell, Ricky Garland and Earnest Leadford.

Surviving are wife, Martha Garland of Newnan; sons, Gary and Glinda Garland of Tyrone, Tommy and Melinda Garland of Newnan, Tim and Holly Garland of Newnan; daughter, Susie Loner of Newnan; grandchildren, Ricky and Teresa, Amber and Heather, Matthew and Tyler, Todd, Cassie and Christy; great-grandchildren, Carrie, Austin, Courtney, Jeremy, Megan, Junior, Holly, Erin and Kenneth.

Mr. Raymond Edgar Gordon
Mr. Raymond Edgar Gordon, 85, of Newnan, Ga., died Monday, Aug. 11, 2003 at his residence.

He was born icon Sept. 2, 1917 in Carroll County, Ga. He was retired from Southwire as a carpenter. Mr. Gordon was a member of the United States Army and served during World War II.

Surviving are three daughters, Deborah (Gordon) McDavid of Newnan, Ga., Susan (Gordon) Young of Metairie, La., and Patricia (Gordon) Chance of Carrollton, Ga.; son, Robert R. Gordon of Lafayette, Ga.; brother, Preston Gordon of Arnco, Ga.; four grandchildren.

A funeral will be at McKoon Funeral Home chapel 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14.

Mr. D. Len Horton
Mr. David Len Horton of Lizella, Ga. died Aug. 8, 2003 at his residence.

Mr. Horton was a native of Bibb County, Ga. He was employed as a superviser at Robins Air Force Base.

The funeral service was held Monday, Aug. 11, at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment followed at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Gary Brown, Jeff Knowles, Chad Horton, Shane Horton, Matt White and Carl White. Honorary pallbearers were Maurice Van Hall, David Venable, Needham Walker and John Neal.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Knowles Horton of Lizella; parents, Rev. William and Vara Spivey Horton of Locust Grove; brothers: Rusty Horton of Fayetteville, Dennis Horton of Haralson; sister, Susan Horton White of Locust Grove; and19 nieces and nephews.

Mr. William Clinton Liles
Mr. William Clinton Liles, 69, of Newnan, Ga., died Monday, Aug. 11, 2003 at his residence in Newnan, Ga.

He was born icon Nov. 14, 1933 in Oglethorpe, Ga., son of Tom Liles and Lucille Lemaster Liles. Mr. Liles was a motorcycle mechanic and a sergeant first class in the United States Marines, serving 8 years.

Surviving are wife, Dianne Liles of Newnan; two daughters, Anita Kirby of Newnan, Ga. and Nikki Liles of Newnan, Ga.; two sons, Billy T. Liles of Morgantown, N.C., and Brian Liles of Griffin, Ga.; many nieces and nephews; five grandchildren, Stephanie Liles, Annmarie Liles, Calvin Kirby, Catie Kirby and Clinton Liles.

The family was receiving friends at McKoon Funeral Home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12.

A funeral will be at McKoon chapel 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13 with Rev. Allan Mathura officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan, Ga.

Mrs. Erma Moore
Mrs. Erma Camilla Moore of Newnan, Ga., died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003 at Haven House Hospice in Sandy Springs, Ga.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, Aug. 13 from 6-8 p.m.

A funeral will be Saturday, Aug. 16 at 11 a.m. at Greater Bethlehem Temple, 8334 Liberty Road, Baltimore, Maryland. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Maryland.

Evangelist Erma Camilla Moore was born icon to the late Eleazer and Rosa Lee Hill April 5, 1921 in Isle of Wright County, Virginia. The family of four boys and four girls moved from Virginia to Baltimore, Maryland, where Mrs. Moore completed her education, culminating in a License Practical Nurse's degree from the University of Maryland School of Nursing.

Mrs. Moore met Earvin Wilford Moore during the early 1940s. They married icon Dec. 3, 1942. They had two daughters and three sons. Mrs. Moore was baptized during the late 1950s. In April 1959 joined Highway Christian Church under the late District Elder Wesley A. Thomas. She was dedicated in her church work, especially with young people. She directed the young people's choirs for more than 35 years. During her ministry she led many souls to Christ through her witnessing, counseling, mentoring and singing.

Surviving are daughters, Michele Bowser and husband Harry, Stephanie Kolliegbo and husband Nyamah; sons, Maurice Moore and wife, Toni, Elder Jeffrey Jay Moore and wife Shandy, Whitney Moore; brother, Elder John E. Hill and wife Sarah; sister-in-law, Mrs. Virginia Hill; two cousins, Mrs. Gertrude Morse and Mrs. Betsy Holland; two granddaughters, Sloane Moore and Morgan Bowsesr; two grandsons, Aaron Webb and Justin Moore; great-grandson, D'Andre Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Local survivors are son, Elder Jay Moore and daughter-in-law Geraldine Moore family.

Local arrangements entrusted to Sellers-Smith Funeral Home Inc. of Newnan, and in Baltimore Vaughn-Green Funeral Service.

Mrs. Kitty Newby
Mrs. Kitty Newby, 85, of Newnan, Ga., died Aug. 11, 2003 in Newnan.

She was born icon Oct. 4, 1917 in Bayfield, WI. She was a homemaker.

Visitation was at McKoon Funeral Home Tuesday, Aug. 12 from 6-8 p.m. with the Rosary at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

A funeral is at St. George Catholic Church on Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. Father Jorge Christancho officiating. Burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan, Ga.

Pallbearers are Scott Yarbrough, Jeff Lee, Paul Gallati, David Yarbrough, Joe Cebulski and Randal Bryan.

Surviving are son, Larry and Michelle Newby of Newnan; daughter, Carolyn (Newby) Newby of Newnan, Ga.; grandchildren, Ashley Newby and Joshua Newby of Newnan.

Infant Andrew River Ouzts died Aug. 10, 2003 at Children's Health Care of Atlanta - Egleston.

He was born icon July 26, 2003 in Clayton County.

A funeral was Tuesday, Aug. 12 at 2 p.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Maria Wells officiated.

Surviving are parents Andrew and Whitney (Cochran) Ouzts; brothers, Taylor James Cochran and Chandler Gordon Ouzts; grandparents, David and Kathie Cochran and James and Janet Ouzts; great-grandparents, James and Pauline Bullard and J. Earle and Evelyn Ouzts.
