Mrs. Odessa Barnes
Funeral service for Mrs. Odessa Barnes will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2004, at 2 p.m. from Sellers-Smith R. W. S. Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Melvin Brittain Jr. officiating. Interment in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Odessa was born icon Aug. 13, 1931 to the late Will and Viola Meriwether in Newnan, Ga. She joined Providence Baptist Church at an early age.

Odessa married icon Willie James (Luke) Barnes fifty-five years ago and to this union three daughters were born.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ernest Ball Sr., Alga Meriwether Sr., and sister Jean Meriwether.

Survivors: husband, Willie James (Luke); three devoted daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Durrah Jr. (Hazel), Ms. Josephine Barnes of Newnan, Ms. Ruth B. Kendirch of Fayetteville, Ga.; son-in-law, Sanders Kendrich of Newnan, Ga.; four loving grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Gamble (Judy), Mr. and Mrs. Eric Kendirch, Tamelia (Meacy) Durrah, Corey Kendrich; two great-grandchildren, Raven and Ashley Gamble; sister, Nannie Pearl Burks; brother, Melson Meiwether of Newnan; very dear friend and sister-in-law, Ella Mae Meriwether; brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lee Barnes of Newnan; host of nieces and nephews (a very special niece Annie Sumlin) Family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. On the day of the service the cortege will assemble at the residence at 1 p.m. Final arrangements entrusted to Sellers-Smith Funeral Home Inc.

Mrs. Doris Dean Statham, 70, of Palmetto, Ga., entered into rest July 17, 2004. She is survived by husband Heulan Statham; children, Connie Dean Rios, Beverly Ann Wrobleski, Heulan Statham Jr., Anthony Statham, Sabrina Lynne Martin; grandchildren, Thomas Heulan Spence, Marc Anthony Knight, James Christopher Knight, Krystal Marie Priori, Heulan Statham III, Summer LaVerne Statham, Jessica Kirpatrick, Tina Marie Martin, Amanda Raye Wright, Jennifer Lynne Martin, Stephanie Scates, Steven Scates; great-grandchildren, Angelique Marie Toland, Alex Fernandez, Dylan Lee Wright, Evan Anthony Knight, Daniel Clayton Wright, Brendon Maurice Martin, Donald Hugh Kirpatrick, Delia Dianne Hunt, Christian Tyler Priori. Ms. Addie Robinson
Funeral services for Ms. Addie Robinson of Newnan, Ga., will be held Thursday, July 29, 2004 at Powell Chapel United Methodist Church. The remains placed in state at 12:30 p.m. Rev. Joe P. Geter officiating, assisted by other ministers. Interment Eastview Cemetery. Pallbearers, nephews.

Addie Robinson, loving daughter of the late Jerry and Jennie Robinson, was born icon Feb. 29, 1913 in Coweta County. She was called from labor to reward on July 26, 2004.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Audrey Mae, Mary and Catherine; brothers, Jessie, J. B., John, Arthur, Willie, Jeremiah, Joshua and Jerry.

Addie touched the hearts of many and was loved by all. Although she never had children of her own, she was a mother to many. Her heart and loving touch was given unconditionally.

She leaves to cherish her memories sisters-in-law, Rosa Mae Robinson of Newnan and Virginia Robinson of Atlanta; dedicated caretakers, Willie Neal, Reginald Neal, Kathy Cameron, Mary Allen, Josephine Bailey, Francis Robinson, Jamien Bryant and Antwon Perry; and a host of other loving nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Betty Robinson Rogers
Mrs. Betty Robinson Rogers, 57, of Newnan, Ga., died Monday, July 26, 2004 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. She was born icon on January 9, 1947 at Fort McPherson in Atlanta to Buford and Lou Adams Robinson. She was a longtime athletic secretary at Newnan High School and a beloved member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

The funeral is Thursday, July 29, at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Searcy Jackson and Rev. John Riley officiating. The funeral will be shown on closed circuit TV in the all purpose building at the church to accommodate all of her friends. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family was receiving friends at McKoon Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 6-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Betty Rogers Fund, c/o Bank of Georgia, 471 Hwy. 29 N. Newnan, GA 30263.

Betty Robinson Rogers was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Misch.

Survivors include her husband, David Rogers of Newnan; sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Laura Rogers of Newnan, Kevin and Jessica Rogers of Newnan; parents, Buford and Annie T. (Lou) Robinson of Newnan; grandchildren, Cortland Rogers and Kaitlyn Rogers; sister and brother-in-law, Robin and Steve Hill of Newnan; five nieces and nephews.

Ms. Valerie Claire Christy
Ms. Valerie Claire Christy died Friday, July 23, 2004 in Marietta, Ga. A native Georgian, she was born icon June 23, 1963 in DeKalb County, the daughter of Michael Hugh and Carolyn Amey Roeper Christy, who survive her. She was employed as a billing manager for Smith and Howard Certified Public Accountants in Atlanta. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sisters Kathy Christy Barnes of Littleton, Colorado; Kelly Christy Rosenberg of Dallas, Texas , and her brother, Carter Christy of Houston, Texas . Her nieces and nephews are Jake and Erin Barnes; Haley and Kenny Rosenberg. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, July 29, 2004 at 6 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Joan Kinrade officiating. Mrs. Peggy (Jackson) Hollinsworth, 65, of Stockbridge, Ga., died Sunday, July 25, 2004 at Henry Medical Center in Stockbridge. She was born icon May 9, 1939, the daughter of John Lee Jackson and Mildred Chapman Jackson.

She is survived by her husband Wayne Hollinsworth of Stockbridge, Ga.; three daughters, Linda Ivester of Newnan, Ga., Donna Landers of Locust Grove, Ga., and Rebecca Melvin of Snellville, Ga.; three sons, Ricky Summers of Stockbridge, Ga., Tom Summers of Newnan and Keith Hollinsworth of Jonesboro, Ga.; three brothers, James I. Jackson of Savannah, Ga., Clarence E. Jackson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Johnny Jackson of Tucson, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.

Mr. W. Glenn Cottle
W. Glenn Cottle, age 76, of Newnan, Ga., died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at his residence at Georgian Place.

He was born icon June18, 1928 in Coweta County, the son of the late James Leonard and Ara (Hurston) Cottle. Mr. Cottle's professional career was in management with Southern Bell.

He was predeceased by his wife Clodie Hutchens Cottle. Surviving him are his daughter, Sherry Winchester and her husband Pat of Marietta; his grandsons, Patrick and Brett Winchester; a sister, Betty Ann (Cottle) Pike, and 2 brothers, Charles Cottle and Willard Cottle. A sister, Brunetti White preceded him in death.

Mrs. Peggy (Jackson) Hollinsworth, 65, of Stockbridge, Ga., died Sunday, July 25, 2004 at Henry Medical Center in Stockbridge. She was born icon May 9, 1939, the daughter of John Lee Jackson and Mildred Chapman Jackson.

Mrs. Lois Irene Allen Redwine
Mrs. Lois Irene Allen Redwine, 94, died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Franklin Healthcare. She was born icon Nov. 3, 1909, in Macon, Ga., the daughter of the late Felix Franklin and Laura Mae Kines Allen. She is predeceased by her husband, William Jefferson Redwine. Surviving her is her son, Thomas E. Redwine Sr.; a grandson, Thomas E. Redwine Jr.; a granddaughter, Michelle B. Williams; and great-grandchildren, Savanna and Jasmine Williams.

Mr. Eugene Glover
Mr. Eugene Glover, 72, of South Daytona Beach, Fla., formerly of Newnan, Ga., died Saturday, July 24, 2004 at Halifax Hospital. Mr. Glover served in the U.S. Army in Korea and was retired from American General Life Insurance as a Sales Manager. He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Rhonda Glover.

He is survived by his wife, Judith (Judy) Glover of South Daytona Beach; daughters and sons-in-law April and David Lavan of Daytona Beach, Dawn and Sean Bartholf of Port Orange, Fla.; sons and daughters-in-law Barry E. and Dee Glover, Lyle (Jody) and Liz Glover of Port Orange, Fla., Allyn Glover of Newnan, Ga.; sisters Jane Sherrill of Loganville, Ga., Margaret Arthur of Atlanta, Ga.; brother Rubin J. Glover Jr. of South Daytona Beach; 27 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 28, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Dr. Knox Herndon officiating. Mrs. Ethlyn LaNette Howard
Ethlyn LaNette Howard, age 80, died Saturday, July 24, 2004 at Newnan Hospital Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born icon May 18, 1924 in Morrow, Ga., the daughter of the late Ralph Waymon and LaVert DeFoor Mitchell.

Mrs. Howard was retired, having been a nursing assistant in the office of Dr. W.E. Barron at the PAPP Clinic. She was a long time member of Central Baptist Church. Surviving her are her children, Jake Howard and his wife Eveann, Trudy Wray and her husband George, and Ethlyn Hindman. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Corey Wray and his wife Janice, Collin Wray, and Samantha Hindman; great grandson Brent Wray; step grandchildren are Theresa Pullin and her husband Byron, Christine McCullough and her husband Chris, Cress Wray, Cary Wray and his wife Stacey, Christy Bishop and her husband David. Her step great-grandchildren are Emily McCullough, Nicholas McCullough, Hannah Pullin, Brittney Wray, Brooke Wray, Brandon Wray, Jordon Wray, Taylor Wray, Demi Wray, Lynzee Wray and Logan Bishop.

Funeral services for Mrs. Howard will be conducted on Monday, July 26, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Central Baptist Church of Newnan with Dr. Joel E. Richardson and Rev. Sam Henderson officiating. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Howard's memory may be made to either The Diabetes Association or to Central Baptist Church.

Mrs. Lille Alice Massey
Mrs. Lille Alice Massey of Palmetto died July 22, 2004 at her residence. She was born icon Nov. 18, 1957 in Fulton County. She was a member of Rebekah Baptist Church.

Mrs. Massey was preceded in death by her father, James Griffin, and a brother, James Griffin, Jr. Surviving are her mother Elsie Griffin; husband Darrell Massey, Sr.; son and daughter-in-law Darrell, Jr. and Chasity Massey; daughters and sons-in-law Elsie Diane and Randall Moon and Mary Frances and Chris Rogers; sister-in-law Darlene Vega; nephew Ace Faatuai; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Rebekah Baptist Church with Rev. Dorothy Jones officiating; Interment Floral Hills. The family will receive friends today at the residence, 404 Shell Road, Palmetto. Higgins Hillcrest Chapel.

Mrs. Sadie Ruth Harden Edwards
Funeral services for Mrs. Sadie Ruth Harden Edwards will be held on Monday, July 26, 2004, at 11 a.m. from the Summerhill Baptist Church on Hwy. 29 South. The body will be placed in-state at 9:30 a.m. Reverend J.T. Coleman will officiate. Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery.

Sadie was born icon Aug. 15, 1953 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Lucious Harden. She was a 1972 graduate of Newnan High School.

Survivors include sons, Mr. and Mrs. Darell Edwards (Tamika), Eric Edwards, Kelvin Edwards; brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Harden (Ruth), Mr. and Mrs. Rayford Harden (Rose); sisters, Minister A.J. Strickland (Patricia), Mr. and Mrs. Benny Prather (Adrene), Mrs. Mary Towns, and Mrs. Melvin Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; and a special friend and neighbor, Mrs. Brenda Dyer.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. On the day of the service, the cortege will assemble at the residence at 10 a.m. Final arrangements entrusted to Sellers-Smith Funeral Home.

Mrs. Grace Hardy
Mrs. Grace Hardy, 91, of Luthersville, died Friday, July 23, 2004, at Southland Nursing Home in Peachtree City.

Mrs. Hardy was born icon Aug. 9, 1912, in Luthersville, daughter of the late Henry Hurst and the late Beadie Chambless Hurst. A lifelong resident of Meriwether County, she was a member of Luthersville United Methodist Church and was the wife of the late Roy W. Hardy.

She is survived by one daughter, Andrea Phillips of Peachtree City; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at graveside in the Luthersville Cemetery, with the Reverend Richard Campbell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Luthersville Cemetery Fund or to the Luthersville United Methodist Church.

Mr. John Damon Jones
Mr. John Damon Jones, 84, of Talbotton, Ga., died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Warm Springs Medical Center Nursing Home in Warm Springs, Ga.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Talbotton United Methodist Church. Interment will be at 5 p.m. at Leslie, Ga. city cemetery. Visitation was Saturday, July 24, 2004, at Talbotton Funeral Home.

Mr. Jones was born icon Nov. 26, 1919, in Emanuel County, Ga., a son of Bismark Jones and Inie Sherrod Jones. He was retired as a U.S. Department of Agriculture Executive Director of Talbot, Harris and Muscogee Counties, and was a member of Talbotton United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of WWII.

Survivors include his wife, Joanne Battle Jones of Talbotton; three daughters, Linda Jones Mitchell of Newnan, Edna Jones Godwin of Columbus, and Janice Jones Marshall (Kent) of Laramie, Wyoming; a step-son, Fred Bass Jr. (Fraces) of Leslie, Ga.; four step-daughters, Pam Bass Kennedy (Wayne), Miriam Bass, and Joanne Bass, all of Leslie, Ga., and Karen Bass Simons (James) of Leesburg, Ga.; a sister, Clara Pratt of Swainsboro, Ga.; a brother, Clifford Jones of Waynesboro, Ga.; and 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mr. C.W. Porter
Mr. C.W. Porter, 63, of Farmers High Road, Carrollton, died Friday, July 23, 2004, at his residence. He was born icon June 20, 1941, in Murphy, NC, to the late Rex B. Porter and Annie Blanche Moss Porter.

Mr. Porter was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church in Forsyth, Ga., and was self employed, working for many years in the floor covering business.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Joanne Porter; and two brothers, Ralph and Donald Porters.

Survivors include his wife, Shelby Driver Porter; daughters, Joanne Sweetalla of Carrollton, and Jennifer R. Porter of Carrollton; son, Russell Scott Porter of Carrollton; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Jaried Shadrix of Temple; sister, Judy Burt of Cumming; brothers, Rex O. Porter of Lineville, AL, Donald D. Porter of Marietta, Larry Porter of Lavonia, Jackie R. Porter of Powder Springs; and nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Visitation will be today from noon until 3:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be today at 4 p.m. from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Reverend David Gray officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Fidel Abad, Rex O. Porter II, Donald D. Porter Jr., Milton Farmer, Stanley Jiles and Garry Jiles.

Interment will follow at Clern United Methodist Cemetery.

Mr. Edward Benjamin Chavarria
Mr. Edward Benjamin Chavarria of Newnan, Ga., died July 22, 2004 at Piedmont Hospital. He was born icon Sept. 15, 1935 in New Mexico, son of the late Abel and Consuela (Berru) Chavarria. He graduated from Hatch Valley High School where he was All State in track and football. He was also a graduate of Belmont Abbey College. Mr. Chavarria was the terminal manager for Yellow Freight Systems and a charter member of St. George Catholic Church. He loved golf and gardening and loved and supported Auburn Football. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Chavarria. Surviving are his wife, Theresa (Morgan) Chavarria; son, Father Jerome Chavarria, C. Ss. R.; daughters and sons-in-law, Terry and Armand D'Agostino and Linda and Cory Trawick; brothers, Ricardo Chavarria and Benjamin Chavarria; sisters, Bertha Torres and Mary Berkeimer; grandchildren, Joseph, Andrew and Armand D'Agostino and Sonny, Kimberly and Thomas Trawick. A wake/rosary was held Friday at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel. The funeral mass will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church with Father Jerome Chavarria, C.Ss.R and Father Austin Fogarty officiating. Pallbearers are Robert Harris, Arnold Lawson, Thomas Wilson, Mac Cochran, Butch Payne, John Tisdale, Jim Taylor and Billy McRae. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Ms. Fannie Andrew Fuller
Funeral services for Ms. Fannie Fuller of Forest Park, Ga., will be held Saturday morning, July 24, 2004 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home, Newnan, Ga. Rev. Frederick Caldwell officiating. Interment Eastview Cemetery. Pallbearers, Christopher Reid, Victor Robinson, Terence Fuller and Brandon Johnson.

Fannie Andrew Fuller was born icon to parents Ray V. and Fannie Fuller June 7, 1924 in Atlanta, Ga. She was named after her grandparents, Fannie Wright and Andrew Jenkins, who were the founding parents of Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home. She was the oldest member of the historical Jenkins Family of Newnan, Ga.

As a young child, she joined the South Atlanta Methodist Church.

Full of life and a lover of people, Fannie was young at heart and always the life of the party. She would joyfully dance and sing to express her youthful spirit in her special and unique way. Her favorite prayer was the 23rd Psalm, and her favorite song was Stevie Wonder's "Ribbon In The Sky." She had a bountiful talent of playing jazz and spirituals on the piano as she sang.

Fannie graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, then attended Clark College and worked as a Photo Lab Technician. She later became a caretaker.

Fannie leaves behind three beautiful daughters, Vivian Elaine Reid, Jacquelyn Louise Robinson and Linda Robbin Johnson; granddaughters, Monique Duckworth, Kimberly Reynolds; grandsons, Christopher Reid, Victor Robinson, Terence Fuller and Brandon Johnson; great-grandchildren, Tierra Wilson, Kerrington Duckworth, Victoria Robinson, Viyanah Robinson, Victor Robinson Jr. and Robin Reynolds. Of her uncle Roscoe Jenkins she leaves cousins, Octavia Jenkins Mahone, Jacquelyn Mahone Flowers and family; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Rev. James "Jim" Mullins
Rev. James "Jim" Mullins, 61, of Newnan, Ga., died Tuesday, July 20, 2004. He was born icon in Columbus, Mississippi on June 30, 1943 to the late James G. Mullins and Mrs. Rosa Dacus Mullins. Rev. Mullins has served as the minister of Connally Road Baptist Church in East Point for the past eleven years.

The funeral is Saturday, July 24, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Brown officiating. The family was receiving friends Friday evening from 6-8:30 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Gideons International, P. O. Box 626, Newnan, GA 30264.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Mullins of Newnan; daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Gerald Zorn of Ashburn, GA; mother, Rosa Mullins of Birmingham; granddaughter, Madelyn Zorn; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Marsha Mullins of Peachtree City; nephew, Barry Mullins; stepchildren, Kathy Morrill and her husband Wayde, Elisa Lowe, Laura Lenox and her husband Mark; and step-grandchildren, Zachary Lowe, Evan Lowe, Colton Morrill, Grayson and Gavin Morrill.
