Mrs. Joyce T. Jones
Mrs. Joyce Elizabeth Tucker Jones, 38, of Grantville, Ga., died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, at the home of her parents in Grantville.

Born Sept. 6, 1966, at Beale Air Force Base, California, Mrs. Jones had lived at Grantville since 1972. She was employed as a nursing assistant.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Jones of Grantville; two sons, Walter Stanley Jones, age 7, and Kristoffer Wayne Jones, age 4, both of Grantville; her parents, Irene and Jerry Tucker, also of Grantville; one sister, Lorene E. Adams of LaGrange; four brothers, John A. Tucker of Newnan, Wayne R. Tucker and James N. Tucker, both of Grantville, and Harold L. Tucker of Shenandoah; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Stan and Angie Jones of Rome; and her husband's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jones of Newnan and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Vickery of Franklin.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at the First United Methodist Church of Grantville, with Interment in the Grantville Cemetery.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Robi Martin Brain Tumor Research Fund at M. D. Anderson Center, 1515 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas 77030.

Mrs. Irene Tenny Thurman
Mrs. Irene Tenny Thurman, age 82, of 5th Street, Griffin, Ga., passed away on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004 at the Spalding Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Thurman was born in Coweta County, Ga. on June 26, 1922 to the late Frank Tenny and the late Willie Mae Crook Tenny. Mrs. Thurman was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Benjamin "Pete" Thurman, who passed away on June 26, 2004; and her daughter, Catherine Ann Eady Hood; her sisters, Ann Lou Reed, and Ruby Cavender; and her brothers, James Reid and Hiram Reid. Mrs. Thurman was a member of the Haralson Baptist Church.

Mrs. Thurman is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Marsha Eady of Griffin; grandchildren, Angie Hood, Anthony "Bubba" Hood, Tammy Eady Smith, and Alicia Wolcott; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Margaret Quick of Pechtree City, and Dilsea Eady of Haralson; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Irene Tenny Thurman will be conducted on Saturday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Rev. Larry Partain and Dr. Don Yarborugh will officiate. Interment will follow in the old section of Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Ora Belle (Rogers) Hyatt
Mrs. Ora Belle (Rogers) Hyatt, 83, of Newnan, Ga., died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Walter H. and the late Mrs. Eva (Gentry) Rogers. She was one of eight children; five siblings preceded her in death.

She was the beloved wife of the late Mr. Glenn A. Hyatt.

She is survived by her son, Larry and his wife Vicki Hyatt of Tampa, Fla.; daughter, Dura Hyatt Moore and her husband Jerry of Newnan, Ga.; grandchildren, Dennis and wife Delia Moore of Douglasville, Ga., Joey Moore of Newnan and Suzanne Moore Patterson and her husband Chris of Carrollton; great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Ashley, Denice, Josh and Desiree Moore; adopted grandchildren, Ron, Christy, Chris and Crystal Fanjoy of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; sistes, Ruth R. Borders of Newnan and Flora R. Newman of Fayettevile, N.C.; sisters-in-law, Irene H. Brown and Pauline H. Parker of Newnan, Ga. and Estelle H. Phillips of Prosperity, SC.; brothers-in-law, Preston Gordon and Bervin Hyatt of Newnan.

She worked for Arnco Mill/The Bibb Co. from 1938 until 1970 and then she was employed by International Playtex and retired Oct. 1, 1978. She also had 2000 volunteer hours as a "Pink Lady" at Coweta General/Humana Hospital. She was a member of Arnco Baptist Church.

Arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, Ga., where the family was receiving friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21. Funeral service will be at McKoon Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 22, with Dr. C. A. Jernigan and Rev. Jimmy Henry officiating. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, Ga.

Mr. Comer J. Loftin
Mr. Comer J. Loftin, 78, of Newnan, Ga., died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004. He is preceded in death by his parents Hope and Dovey Loftin and brother Willie Joe Loftin.

He is survived by his wife, Jessie Mae Loftin of Newnan, Ga.; son, Stanley Loftin of Newnan and daughter Susan Loftin of Tenn.; grandsons, Allen (Kelly) Loftin of Newnan and Andy (Kate) Loftin of Virginia; sisters, Selma Duncan of Newnan, Sarah Henderson of Fayetteville, Ga. and Faye O'Dell of Jackson, Ga.; brothers, Howard Loftin of Newnan, Leo Loftin of Moreland, Yates Loftin of Columbus, Ga. and Ray Loftin of Dallas, Ga.; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a Navy veteran and was retired from Kmart Corp.

Arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, Ga., where the family was receiving friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21. Funeral service will be in McKoon's chapel at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22 with Rev. Scott Wilson officiating. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan, Ga.

Mr. E. J. Seale
E. J. Seale, 61, of Sharpsburg, Ga., died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004 at Southwest Christian Hospice in Union City, Ga.

He is survived by his wife Joyce A. Seale of Sharpsburg, Ga.; five children, Suzanne Hale of Douglasville, Ga., Deborah Mathews of Alpharetta, Ga., Melony Manus of Atlanta, Ga., Suzie Franklin of Thomaston, Ga., Scott Manus of Atlanta; two sisters, Linda Jay of Sharpsburg, Ga., Janice Cline of Jonesboro, Ga.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, Ga., where the family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22 . Mr. Thomas E. (Otto) Spencer
Mr. Thomas E. (Otto) Spencer died Oct. 20, 2004, at Newnan Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Spencer was a member of Willingham Baptist Church, loved race cars and was a race car driver at the old Peachtree Bowl. He was preceded in death by his wife Edna Earl Spencer; son, Sam Spencer; father and mother, Albertis and Mattie Jewell Spencer. He is survived by his son, Mr. Ricky Ray Spencer of Conyers; daughter and son-in-law, Delores S. and Bill Kee of Hogansville; grandchildren, Vicki and Chris; great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Jean Spencer of East Point, Ronald Spencer, Jerry and Nancy Sepncer, Danny and Cathy Spencer, all of Newnan; sister, Margaret S. Webb of Newnan. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel, Newnan, Ga. Interment in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Clara B. Johnson
Mrs. Clara B. Johnson, 88, of Sharpsburg, Ga., died Tuesday evening, Oct. 19, 2004, at Portsbridge Hospice Center. Mrs. Johnson was born in Atlanta in 1916 to Earl and Susie Redwine, but lived most of her life in the Newnan area. Known as "Nanny" to her family, she occasionally worked outside her home, but her primary interest was raising and taking care of her family. She loved family activities, sewing, cooking, gardening, and fishing seemed to make her happiest. She was a member of Cokes Chapel Church in Sharpsburg.

Her husband of 55 years, Mr. Howard Cecil Johnson and a son, Howard Andrew Johnson, precede Mrs. Johnson in death. She is survived by a daughter, Betty Starnes and her husband Ken of Sharpsburg; a sister, Sue Reynolds of Newnan; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

The family will receive friends at Jones Funeral Home Thursday evening, Oct. 21, from 5-8 p.m. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

Mrs. Alma Adamson Kirk
Mrs. Alma Adamson Kirk, 95, of Newnan, Ga., died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004. She was born on June 29, 1909 in Randolph County, AL, to the late J. W. Adamson and the late Alma Ussery Adamson. She was preceded in death by her husband W. Byron Kirk.

The funeral is Thursday, Oct. 21 at 11 a.m. at the graveside in Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Fred Whitehurst officiating. The family was receiving friends Wednesday evening 5-8 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home. Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the charity of one's choice.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Alma Jane and Bobby Thompson of Moreland; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Cathy Kirk of Newnan; grandchildren, Kathy Thompson, Kirk and Anna Thompson, Billy and Jenny Kirk Jr., Elizabeth and John Crumpton; step-grandchildren, Anne Shaffman, Michelle and Geoff Borree, and Mike Burnhardt.

Mr. Comer J. Loftin
Mr. Comer J. Loftin, 78, of Newnan, Ga., died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004. He was the son of the late Mr. Hope and the late Mrs. Dovey Loftin.

He is survived by his wife, Jessie Mae Loftin of Newnan, Ga.; sisters, Selma Duncan, Sarah Henderson and Faye O'Dell; brothers, Howard Loftin, Leo Loftin, Yates Loftin and Ray Loftin.

Mr. Thomas "Tom" Falls
Mr. Thomas "Tom" Falls, 75, of Sharpsburg, Ga. died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at his residence.

Mr. Falls was the retired owner and operator of Falls Appliance and was a member of St. George Catholic Church, where he served as an usher for more than 40 years. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Rotary Club since 1974, was a Paul Harris Fellow, member of the Elks Club, American Legion (past commander), Bigham Lodge #53 F&AM (past master), Newnan Shrine Club (past president), York Rite, Scottish Rite, Knights of Columbus (past grand knight) and former Justice of the Peace and Magistrate. Falls was also a charter member of the Bill Gremillion Radio Club and was a Ham Radio Operator (K4IKV). He enjoyed RV camping and working on computers.

He was preceded in death by son Thomas Falls, daughter Diane Falls and two brothers, Robert C. Falls and Charles H. Falls.

Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 18 at 11 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church. Father Austin Fogarty officiating, Interment in Mt. Gilead Methodist Cemetery in Sharpsburg. The family was receiving friends Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, Ga. A Rosary service was held Sunday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.

Survivors include wife Alethia Falls of Sharpsburg; three daughters, Linda and Randall Shirah of Hampton, Ga., Rita DeStefano of Oveido, Fla. and Maureen and Joseph Dwyer of Sharpsburg, Ga.; one brother, Eugene Falls of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and grandchildren, Michael J. DeStefano, Diane M. DeStefano, Rachel H. Dwyer and Matthew J. Dwyer.

Ms. Debra Ann Hadley
Celebration of life service for Debra Ann Hadley of Newnan will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 6 Lovelace St., Newnan, with body placed in state at noon. Brother Rush Wyatt officiating. Interment in Eastview Cemetery.

She is survived by her children, TuJoshua Bernard Hadley Sr. (Julia), Fernando Kordell Phillips; grandchildren, TuJoshua Bernard Hadley Jr., Ashley Tiara Hadley; grandmother, Mrs. Ada Hadley; father, Mr. John Storey (Popa); brothers, Eddie, Charles, Raymond, Gregory Hadley; sister, Carolyn Hadley-Rhoden (Todd); special friends, Vicky Simmons, Sylvia Robinson, Kirsten Zackery, Ruby Johnson, Monique Reese; a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

The family was receiving friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 7-8 p.m. On the day of the service the cortege will assemble at the residence 9 Westgate Park Drive, Newnan, at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of food, the family requests that friends remember her by sending contributions to Debra Hadley, Wachovia Bank, to be used to support the education of her son, Fernando Phillips, who is a student at Georgia Southern. Final arrangements entrusted to Sellers-Smith Funeral Home Inc., Newnan.

Miss Erica Waters
Miss Erica Waters, 17, of Senoia, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born in Hall County on June 4, 1987, she was an honor student at East Coweta High School and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel with Reverend Richard Clay officiating. Interment will be in the Senoia City Cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors include her father, Ricky Waters of Bremen; her mother, Wendy Waters of Senoia; a brother and sister, Drew and Kristi Waters of Senoia; a grandfather, John Adams of Jonesboro; a great grandmother, Flora Waters; aunts and uncles, Connie Hancock, Shirley, Debbie, Pam, Connie and Jason Waters; many cousins and friends.

Amber Nichole Oglesby
Amber Nichole Oglesby, 16, of Senoia, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004.

She was a member of the East Coweta High School chorus and of the youth and adult choirs at Sandy Creek Baptist Church. Her dream was to attend the University of Georgia to become a pediatrician.

She is survived by her parents, Thomas and Sherry Oglesby of Senoia; her brother, Thomas Courtney Oglesby of Senoia; grandparents, Ben and Carolyn Cato of Aiken, SC; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Sandy Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Philip Johnson and Reverend Harry Barron officiating. Interment will be at the Sandy Creek Baptist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Amber Nichole Oglesby Fund, C/O East Coweta High School Chorus, which will provide assistance for fellow students to have opportunities to participate in future chorus events.

Mr. Tommy Franklin Cumbee Jr.
Mr. Tommy Franklin "Tom" Cumbee Jr. died Monday, Oct. 11, 2004 at his residence in Newnan, Ga. He was born Dec. 16, 1960 in Coweta County to Tommy F. Cumbee Sr. and Geraldine Fowler Cumbee.

The funeral is Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004 at noon in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Dr. Joel Richardson officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Charles Bowling, Wesley Eskew, Wayne Webb, Ray Shaver, Randy Blair and Wayne McElroy will serve as pallbearers.

He is survived by his mother, Geraldine Fowler Cumbee of Newnan; father, Tommy F. Cumbee Sr. of Cragford, AL; sons, Clint Cumbee and Corey Cumbee, both of Newnan; sister, Tabitha M. Cumbee of Newnan; niece, Madeline E. Horton of Newnan, and wife Becky L. Cumbee.

Mr. Paul E. Elliott
Mr. Paul E. Elliott, 65, of Newnan, Ga., formerly of Douglasville, Ga., died at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta Sunday night, Oct. 10, 2004. Mr. Elliott was born in Atlanta in 1939 to Frank and Cleo Elliott where he attended school and spent most of his life. A self-employed painter, Mr. Elliott worked throughout Georgia painting houses. Settling in Newnan at his retirement, he loved hunting and spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a good-hearted humble man who loved to work.

Mr. Elliott is survived by his niece, Debra Mabry; brother-in-law, Thomas Cannon Sr.; and four nephews, Thomas Cannon Jr., Philllip Cannon, Rayford Cannon and Larry Cannon.

The memorial service will be at Jones Funeral Home 6 p.m. Thursday evening, Oct. 14 with Rick Duncan officiating. Jones Funeral Home, Newnan, Ga.

Mr. Jerry Lamar Hicks Jr.
Mr. Jerry Lamar Hicks Jr., 27, of Newnan, Ga., died Oct. 11, 2004. He was born Sept. 18, 1977. He was a loving husband and father who loved the outdoors and was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Palmetto. Surviving are his wife, Cathy Jackson Hicks; son, Christopher Myers; daughters, Courtney Myers and Chasity Hicks; parents, Rev. Jerry and Robin Hicks; sister, Tracie Hicks; grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. Joe Hicks and Ms. Peggy Gresham; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Butch and Linda Poindexter; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Laura and Anthony Poindexter, Allen and Tara Poindexter, Sherry and Darrel Thomas, Jenny Jackson; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel with Rev. Earl Partain officiating; Interment Floral Hills Cemetery in Palmetto. Pallbearers are Jimmy Kuykendall, Kenny Kuykendall, Kevin Kuykendall, Donnie Phillips, Anthony Poindexter, Randy Fleming. Higgins Hillcrest Chapel, Newnan.

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Lane
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Lane, 76, of Newnan, Ga., died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004 after a miraculous and courageous battle with cancer. Born 1928 to Herbert and Martha Tenney in Minden, Michigan, Mrs. Lane moved to East Point, Ga. in 1947. She met her husband, Lee Roy, in 1948, while he was attending the Georgia Military Academy on a blind date and married him that same year. They moved to Newnan in 1971 where she worked as a bookkeeper at Playtex. A devout Christian, she was warm and caring, never meeting a stranger. She loved children and music and many called her "Angel." She attended Unity Baptist Church.

Mrs. Lane is survived by her husband of 56 years, Mr. Lee Roy Lane of Newnan; two sons, Stephen Lane of Franklin and Lee Lane of Newnan; three daughters, Virginia Tinsley and her husband Larry of Jasper, Cindy Penick and her husband Marvin of Roswell, and Sandy Lane Herndon of Franlkin; two sisters, Virginia Bell and Ruth Tyson; two special nieces, Stephanie Gedda and Kathy Gowan; 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

The family will receive friends at Jones Funeral Home 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13. The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14 at Jones Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Wilson officiating. Interment will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15 at Sowhatchee Cemetery in Sowhatchee, Ga. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Ralph Quigley
Mr. Ralph Quigley, 88, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004. He was the son of the late Mr. Hardin M. and the late Mrs. Pearl Quigley.

He is survived by his son, Pat and his wife, Judi Quigley; granddaughters, Kelly Applegate and Kristin Greenlee; great-grandchildren, Caroline Applegate, Dylan Applegate and Ryan Greenlee; sisters, Ruth Quigley, Sarah Hamilton and Miriam Cooper.

Arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, Ga., where the family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15. Funeral service will be at McKoon Funeral Home 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, with Lee Stanford officiating. Interment will be at Luthersville Cemetery in Luthersville, Ga.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Luthersville Cemetery Fund or Gwinnett Good Samaritan Health Care Center.
