Mrs. Barbara Ann Oliver

Mrs. Barbara Ann Oliver, 63, of 62 Morningside Drive died this morning at her home after a lengthy illness.
Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jimmie Clark

Mrs. Jimmie Hammett Clark of Hogansville died this morning at Crawford W. Long Hospital in Atlanta.
The Claude A. McKibben & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Myrtle Owens

Mrs. Myrtle Pike Owens, 92, of Hogansville and a former resident of LaGrange died Tuesday night at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton.
The Claude A. McKibben & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Opal Virginia Dallas

Funeral services for Mrs. Opal Virginia Dallas of 937 Kessler St., will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Bright Star Baptist Church on Shake Rag Road. The Rev. W.L. Tucker will officiate with burial in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Dallas, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jonah Williams Sr., was a very faithful member of the Bright Star Baptist Church. In 1983, she retired from Dixie Mill, having worked for several years. After her retirement she was an active foster grandparent for several day care centers under the West Georgia Medical Center.
Survivors include her devoted husband, Aaron Dallas Sr. of LaGrange; two loving daughters, Mrs. Mary (William) Hill of North Ridge, Calif. and Mrs. Sheryl (Reginald) Copeland of LaGrange; two sons, Aaron Dallas Jr. of LaGrange and Thaddeus Dallas of Columbus; three brothers, Hilwatha Williams of Chattanooga, Tenn., Howard Williams of Dayton, Ohio and Jonah Williams Jr. of LaGrange; a sister, Mrs. Willie Bessie Marsh of Eggersville, N.Y.; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and a number of nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.
The Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Willie Coverson

The funeral for Willie Coverson of the Hogg Mountain Community will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at New Harmony C.M.E. Church. The Rev. T.D. Brown will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
Mr. Coverson, a native of Troup County, was the son the late Rena Mae Lovelace and was a member of New Harmony C.M.E. Church.
Survivors include two aunts, Minnie Mae Loveland and Lillie Heard, both of LaGrange; an uncle, George Heard of Atlanta; cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lindsey, Minnie Gunn and Mr. and Mrs. Bobby (Lelia) Hodo, all of Decatur, and Christine and James Harris, Gertrude Reed, Willie Mae Meredith and Gladys Shoemaker, all of LaGrange; and other relatives.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 until 8 and will be at the funeral home tomorrow at noon.
A service by Mackey-Wilson-Jennings Funeral Home.

Mrs. Barbara Ann Oliver

Mrs. Barbara Ann Oliver, 63, of 62 Morningside Drive died Wednesday at her home after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Oliver, born December 3, 1934, in Wheeler County, was the daughter of Mrs. Ethelene Price Hester of LaGrange and the late Woodrow Hester Sr. She had lived here most of her life and was a former employee of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company and Allenberg Cotton Company. She was a 1951 graduate of Manchester High School and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Roy L. (Pat) Oliver Sr.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cindy Oliver and Suzanne and Mike Bryan; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Roy L. Oliver Jr. and Larry and Rachel Oliver, all of LaGrange, and David and Ruth Oliver of Wetumpka, Ala; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Patricia and Donnie Daniel of Franklin and Judy Hester Fundom of LaGrange; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Billy and Marie Hester of Franklin and Woodrow (Jack) Jr. and Linda Hester of LaGrange; eight grandchildren, Brooke Oliver, Kristin Oliver, Jonathan Oliver, William Oliver, Anna Oliver, Pete Haralson, Nikki Bryan and Casey Bryan; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Conrad DeFriese officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
The family will be at their home at 62 Morningside Dr. and will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 until 9.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to Hospice LaGrange in memory of Mrs. Oliver.

Mrs. Jimmie Clark

Funeral services for Mrs. Jimmie Hammett Clark, 60, of Hogansville will be at 2 p. Friday in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben & Sons Funeral Home. Dr. Jimmy Brown will officiate with burial in the Corinth Cemetery.
Mrs. Clark had been a resident of the Hogansville area most of her life and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. She was the wife of the late Ellis S. Clark.
Survivors in include three sons, Ellis S. Clark Jr., Jim B. Clark and Timmy L. Clark; a sister, Mrs. Martha Woodruff; five brothers, Perk Hammett, Allen Hammett, Roy H. Hammett and Donald Hammett, all of Hogansville, and Bobby Hammett of Riverdale; and three grandsons, Chad Clark, Brett Clark and Dale Clark.
The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Perk Hammett in Corinth and will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 until 9 tonight.

MRS. MYRTLE OWENS

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. MYRTLE PIKE OWENS, 92, OF HOGANSVILLE WILL BE AT 4 P.M. FRIDAY AT BIBLE BAPTIST CHURCH WITH THE REVS. R.C. PRESCOTT AND RUFUS THORNTON OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN THE GLENLOCH BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY IN HEARD COUNTY.
A NATIVE OF ROANOKE, ALA., MRS. OWENS WAS A FORMER RESIDENT OF LAGRANGE AND A MEMBER OF BIBLE BAPTIST CHURCH.
SURVIVORS INCLUDE TWO DAUGHTERS, MRS. JOYCE VEAL OF HOGANSVILLE AND MRS. CLESTELL WRIGHTSTONE OF CUSSETA, ALA.; TWO SONS, PELTON PIKE OF WINCHESTER, TENN., AND JAMES PIKE OF LAGRANGE; A SISTER, MRS. ESSIE BOWEN OF BREMEN; AND A NUMBER OF GRANDCHILDREN, GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN, AND GREAT-GREAT GRANDCHILDREN.
THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS FROM 7 UNTIL 9 TONIGHT AT THE CLAUDE A. MCKIBBEN & SONS FUNERAL HOME.

Sylvester Rudd

Funeral services for Sylvester Rudd of 904 C Whitesville St., will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Welcome Baptist Church on Redline Alley. The Rev. J.R. Ware will officiate with burial in Southview Cemetery.
Mr. Rudd, a native of Lee County, Ala., was the son of the late Mrs. Mary Rudd Jackson and Wess Rudd. He was the widower of the late Mrs. Blanche Lipscomb Rudd and was a very faithful member of Welcome Baptist Church.
Survivors include many cousins, nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lamar Clinton Smith

Lamar Clinton Smith, 39, of 2222 Whitesville Road died Wednesday at his residence.
Mr. Smith was born December 1, 1958, in LaGrange, the son of the late Clinton and Agnes Buvena Davis Smith . He had lived here all of his life and was a supply technician for Duracell USA.
Survivors include his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Agnes Shierling of LaGrange; two sisters, Jean Holsenbeck of Milledgeville and Pam Flanagan of LaGrange; a brother, Randall L. Smith of LaGrange; two nieces, Rhonda Holsenbeck of Milledgeville and Brittany Flanagan of LaGrange; and two nephews, Clifton Holsenbeck of Milledgeville and Phillip Flanagan of LaGrange.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in Restlawn Memory Gardens with Tim Karr officiating.
The family will be at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Steve Flanagan, at 384 Maley Road and will receive friends at the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home this evening from 6 until 8.

Miss Arrie Peterson

Miss Arrie Peterson of 202 Bridgewood Dr., died Thursday evening at Florence Hand Home.
The family will be at the home of her mother, Mrs. Ida Peterson, at 807 Greenville St. Arrangements will be announced later by Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home.

Mrs. June Goforth Smith

Mrs. June Goforth Smith, 82, of Atlanta died Wednesday.
Mrs. Smith, the wife of the late Dr. Joel P. Smith, was a 1933 graduate of LaGrange High School and attended LaGrange College. She was a dedicated and much loved mother and grandmother and was the heart of her family.
Survivors are two daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen Smith and the Rev. Al Marks of Vallejo, Calif., and Lynda Smith and David Bowie of Woodstock; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Joel P. and Carolyn Smith of Atlanta and Michael G. and Janet Smith of Lilburn; a sister, Edith Goforth Reeves of LaGrange; grandchildren Brydon and McKenzie Marks, Rachel, Rita and David Bowie, Joel III, Preston and Elizabeth Smith, and William Smith and Melissa Smith Gilmore; and great-grandchildren, Preston Smith Jr., Christina smith and C.J. and Becky Gilmore.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son Spring Hill Chapel in Atlanta. Dr. H. Dan Rice will officiate with burial at 3 p.m. in Hillview Annex Cemetery in LaGrange.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5 until 7 at the funeral home.

Earnest Norwood

Funeral services for Earnest (Bee-Bee) Norwood of 40 Hutchinson Road, Whitesville, will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Roes Chapel United Methodist Church. The Rev. Julian Warner will officiate with burial in the Church cemetery.
Mr. Norwood, a native of Harris County, was the son of the late Will and Paulena Norwood. He was the husband of the late Pauline Patillo Norwood and a former employee of Cagle’s and West Point Pepperell. He was a member of Roes Chapel United Methodist Church where he had been active as an usher and member of the senior choir.
Survivors include three daughters, Rachel Smith of Whitesville, Willene Hollie of Decatur and Mamie (John) Davidson of LaGrange; five sons, Willie C. (Emma) Norwood, Earnest (Margie) Norwood Jr., Eddie (Jacqueline) Norwood, Larry (Ermatine) Norwood and step-son, James (Alice) Patillo, all of Decatur; a brother, Sherman Norwood of Whitesville; three sisters, Rosa Lee Smith, Ida Lou Anderson of Detroit, Mich., and Beatrice Merritt of Atlanta; sisters-in-law, Marion Griggs of Whitesville, Ida Jane Knight of LaGrange and Dotha (Eugene) Maddox of Columbus; 31 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 until 7.

Mrs. Evelyn Odom

Mrs. Evelyn Odom, 81, of Plano, Tex., formerly of LaGrange, died Thursday, February 5, at Heritage Park Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Odom, born January 8, 1917 in Cottonwood, Ala., was the daughter of the late John H. and Marie Euginia Austin Mathews and had lived in LaGrange from 1945 until moving to Plano, Tex., in 1987. Mrs. Odom was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Plano and a former member of the First United Methodist Church of LaGrange.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Cherrie and Jerry Williams of Plano, Tex. and Diane and Nick Petro of Arlington, Tex.; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a niece, Mrs. Lady Smith of Acworth. Mrs. Odom was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Henry D. Odom.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Shadowlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Max McCord officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.
The family will be at the home of Mrs. Doris Patillo at 230 West Lane Circle.

Robert J. McMullen

Robert J. McMullen, 87, of 3425 Hogansville Road died Friday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. McMullen, born December 17, 1910 in Milwaukee, Wisc., was the son of the late Alexander and Ida Gronzo McMullen. He moved to LaGrange in 1972 after retiring as a design engineer with A. O. Smith Corporation of Milwaukee and was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elsie McMullen of LaGrange; two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Kozlowski of Boulder, Colo. and Ms. Mary McMullen of Milwaukee; a son, Thomas McMullen of Rock Island, Ill.; two step-sons, Thomas Eldredge of Milwaukee and Edward Eldredge of LaGrange; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral mass will be Tuesday morning at 10:30 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Father John Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Hillview Annex Cemetery.
The family will be at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Monday between 7 and 9 p.m. The wake will be at 7:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul, c/o St. Peter’s Catholic Church in memory of Mr. McMullen.
Arrangments are by Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 1010 Mooty Bridge Road, LaGrange.

Amis M. Traylor

Amis M. Traylor, 69, of 71 Tingle Road died Saturday at his home after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Traylor was born December 13, 1928 in Hogansville, the son of the late Ollie Monroe and Georgia Ann Crowder Traylor. He was the former owner and operator of Traylor’s Body Shop at Lee’s Crossing. He had lived here most of his life and was a member of Wehadkee Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia (Patty) Baker, a brother, Elliott (Tater) Traylor, and a sister, Adell Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Traylor; a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Ed Crowder, all of LaGrange; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Jerome Evans of Winder, Buddy and Kathy Baker, Tony and Tracey Traylor and Freddy Traylor, all of LaGrange; a sister and brother-in-law, Myrna and Paul Spoonamore of Brunswick; a brother and sister-in-law, Maniel and Nell Traylor of LaGrange; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Traylor, of LaGrange; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 4 this afternoon in the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jay Knight officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at their home at 71 Tingle Road.
