Mrs. Ruby Horne

Mrs. Ruby Thompson Horne, 86, of Hogansville, died Saturday at West Georgia Medical Center.
A native of Dodge County, Mrs. Horne had lived in Hogansville for the past 54 years and was retired from Uniroyal Inc. She was a member of Hogansville Church of God and was a former church pianist.
Survivors include her husband, Ira V. Horne; two daughters and sons-in-law, Billie and Billy Shaw of LaGrange, and Barbara and Danny Goolsby of Warner Robins; one son and daughter-in-law, Wendell and Karen Horne of St. Augustine, Fla.; a step-daughter, Doris Daniel of Warner Robins; one brother, J.P. Thompson of Florida; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Claude A. McKibben & Sons Funeral Home with the Revs. Charles Chapman and Randall Hodge officiating. Burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at the funeral home .

Mrs. Sarah Copeland

Mrs. Sarah Truitt Copeland, 87, of Carrollton, and a former resident of Hogansville, died today at Fayette Community Hospital in Fayetteville.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville.

Willie R. Edmondson

Willie R. Edmondson of Newnan died Sunday at Franklin Health Care Center.
Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Elijah Strozier

Elijah (Bill) Strozier of 410 Brown St., died Friday at Florence Hand Home.
Mr. Strozier, a native of Stovall, was the son of the late Azell and Eunice Parham Strozier. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Wilson Chapel United Methodist Church and the J.C. Holliday American Legion Post 580.
Survivors include two daughters, Darlene Strozier and Linda Rucker, both of LaGrange; grandsons, Brandon and Andrew; other family members, Anthony Bostic and Deshun Smith, caregiver, Laura Hardy; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Mackey-Wilson- Jennings Funeral Home with the Rev. J.R. Ware officiating. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of his daughter, Darlene Strozier at 203 East Crovat St.

Mrs. Ira Lee Howard

Mrs. Ira Lee Howard, 82, of 3508 Mooty Bridge Road died Tuesday at her home.
Mrs. Howard, born April 26, 1918, in Barbour County, Ala., was the daughter of the late Ira Elbert and Sarah Rebecca Sorrell Norton. She attended Auburn University and Bessie Tift College and studied nursing. She had lived here most of her life and was a member of Concord Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria Jean and Cary Yarbrough of Franklin; a son and daughter-in-law, Ralph W. Jr. and Nita Howard of LaGrange; three grandchildren, Bruce and Stacey Howard of San Francisco, Calif., Jocelyn and Jonathan Scott and Crystal Lee Yarbrough all of LaGrange; a great-granddaughter, Savanna Jayne Scott; a sister, Martha Wessie Lewis of LaGrange; a very close friend, Mary Joyce Ellison of LaGrange; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Wallace (Frog) Howard Sr.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road with the Revs. C. Ross Beall and Billy McCullough officiating.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home and after the service at 754 Cherokee Road. Flowers will be accepted or those so desiring may contribute to Concord Baptist Church, 3311 Mooty Bridge Road, LaGrange, Ga., 30240, in memory of Mrs. Howard.

Mrs. Audrey M. McKeen

Mrs. Audrey M. McKeen 73, of 36 Morton Drive died Tuesday at Florence Hand Home.
Mrs. McKeen, born December 11, 1927, in Ephesus, was the daughter of the late Isaac Jasper and Bessie B. Daniel Mitchell. She had lived here since 1948 and was a former employee of International Playtex. She was a member of Pine View Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Joan Templeton of Opelika, Ala; a son, Jack McKeen of Bonaire; a sister, Daffie Woolford of Freehold, N.J.; a brother, Billy Smith of Heard County; four grandchildren, Jennifer McKeen and Brian McKeen, both of Bonaire, and Lance Templeton and Tracy Lindsay, both of Opelika, Ala.; and a great-grandson, Tristan Lindsay of Opelika.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil McKeen.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home with the Rev. Olin McClain officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 until 9 at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mrs. McKeen.

Oliver Edwin Traylor

Oliver Edwin (Ed) Traylor, 89, of 610 Park Avenue died Wednesday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Traylor, born July 6, 1911, in Randolph County, Ala., was the son of the late Silas Monroe and Willie Mae Messer Taylor. He had lived in LaGrange since 1927 and was retired from Signal Knitting Mill. He was a member of Trinity United methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Delena Traylor; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Joyce Traylor of Riverdale and Ronald E. (Ronnie) and Sue Traylor of Hogansville; a brother and sister-in-law, C. Morris and Dorothy Traylor of Pensacola, Fla.; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with the Revs. David Brackman and Max McCord officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at their home at 610 Park Ave., and will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 until 9 this evening.
Flowers will be accepted, but those desiring may make memorials to Trinity United Methodist Church in memory of Mr. Traylor.
Striffler-Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road, is in charge of arrangements.

Bennie Delaney

Bennie Delaney, a former resident of LaGrange, died in New York.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Southview Cemetery.
Family and friends are asked to assemble at the graveside.

J W Norred

Retired 1st Sgt. J W Norred, 70, of 405 Jefferson St., died Thursday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Norred, born September 4, 1930, in Randolph County, Ala., was the son of the late T J and Lucille Norred. He had lived in LaGrange most of his life and was raised in the Calumet Community. He retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service where he served two tours of duty in the Signal Corps in Vietnam and also in the 82nd Airborne during the Dominican Republic engagement. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and chairman of the Board of Deacons.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Grace Geter Norred; two daughters and son-in-law, Harriett Shepherd and Sandy and Ernie Norton, all of LaGrange; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Deb Norred and Jeff and Le Norred, all of LaGrange; 12 grandchildren, Bill, Barbie, Benji and Misty Shepherd, Amber, Braden and Jayson Norton, Scott and Sheri Norred; Jamie and Angela Norred and Ashley Norred; four great-grandchildren, Haley, Little Bill and Lindsay Shepherd, and Tyler Norred; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Dianne and Terry Mason of Snellville and Karen and Stan Wingard of Pine Mountain; a stepson, the Rev. Bryan Geter of Warm Springs; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; five sisters, Loraine Peavy of Winter Haven, Fla., Sylvene Funk of Phenix City, Ala., Ruth Saddler of Buchanan, Mich. and Evelyn Searle and Sue Parks, both of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jackie Norred, and a daughter, Barbara Susan Norred.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home with the Revs. Bryan Geter and Jimmy McMillian officiating. Entombment will be in Shadowlawn Mausoleum with military honors.
The family will be at his home at 405 Jefferson St., and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 this evening.

Mrs. Marion D. Smith

Mrs. Marion Davis Smith, 74, of 510 Park Ave., died Friday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home.

Joseph McCord

Joseph McCord of 2795 Bartley Road died Thursday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jarvis W. Elliott

Mrs. Jarvis Williams Elliott of 109 Hamilton St., died Thursday at her home.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lora M. Franklin

Mrs. Lora M. Franklin, 91, of 101 Vernon Woods Drive died Thursday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Franklin, born July 15, 1909, in Walton County, was the daughter of the late Cicero William and Mable Duncan Martin. She retired as a cloth inspector from the Monroe Mill and was a former member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church in Monroe. She had lived in LaGrange since June and was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Franklin.
Survivors include two daughters, Loretta Beall of LaGrange and Flora Jarrett of Charlotte, N.C.; a son, William Donald Franklin of Charleston, S.C.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 11 this morning at the Arthur Bowick Funeral Home Chapel in Monroe with the Revs. Greg Porterfield and Helen Henry officiating. A memorial service will be at Vernon Woods Retirement Community at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may contribute to the First United Methodist Church, Vernon Woods Retirement Community or to a favorite charity in memory of Mrs. Franklin.
Striffler-Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road is in charge of arrangements.

Robert M. Key

Funeral services for Robert M. Key, 71, of Grantville will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Claude A. McKibben & Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Burial will be in the Grantville Cemetery.

Rodney Lamar Hardnett

Rodney Lamar Hardnett, 32, of 6056 East Creekview Court in Rex died Thursday at his home.
He was the son of James Edward Hardnett and Mrs. Dorothy Hardnett. He was a gunnery sergeant in the United States Marines.
The family will be at the home of his mother at 223 Niles St.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by West Georgia Mortuary.

Mrs. Louise Carden

Funeral services for Mrs. Louise Elizabeth Cook Carden, 80, of Roanoke will be at 3 this afternoon at Antioch Christian Church. The Revs. Floyd Carmack and Maynard McGinty and Dr. Frank McCook will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Carden died Saturday at her home.
A native of Troup County, she was born Sept. 3, 1920, the daughter of the late Oscar Miller and Ruth Adalyn Emory Cook. She was a homemaker and a member of Antioch Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Tom Carden of Roanoke; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jean Carden Henry and Raymond Henry of Lanett, Ala., and Sandra Carden Densmore and Bob Densmore of Roanoke; a son, Stephen Mark Carden of Roanoke; and two grandsons, Neal R. Henry of Lanett and Roby Joe Carden of Roanoke. She was preceded in death by a son, Joe T. Carden Jr., and two brothers, Oscar Emory Cook and Paul Miller Cook.
Memorials may be made to Antioch Christian Church in memory of Mrs. Carden.
Quattlebaum Funeral Home in Roanoke is in charge of arrangements.
