Larry Solomon
Services for Larry Solomon will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in St. Peter Baptist Church followed by private burial. Solomon died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000. He was born in Bibb County, the son of the late Coleman Solomon. He was a graduate of Appling High School, earning the Dr. E.M. Calhoun award, the Emmett Dederon Award and the Golden Helmet Award. He was an Air Force veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Amanda Solomon; children, Jared Solomon, Darren Oliver, Laquesta Craig and Sheniqua Copelin, all of Macon, and Ruben Dennard of Atlanta; mother, Hattie Solomon Mitchell of Macon; grandmother, Virginia Jackson of Macon; brothers and sisters, Clifford Tarpley of Decatur, Maurice Tarpley, Carol Long and Loretta Tarpley, all of Macon, and Mary Moorer of Augusta; and 11 grandchildren.

The family may be contacted at 1008 Ash St. Bentley and Sons Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Maggie Talmadge
FORSYTH - Services for Maggie Mae Talmadge will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Forsyth City Cemetery. Talmadge died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000. She was employed at McDonough Laundry Service for many years. She was a member of Towaliga County Line Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children, Willie J. Scott, R.L. Scott and Troy Scott, all of Jackson, Leon Scott of McDonough, Arthur Scott of Griffin, and Randy Scott, Laverne Colbert, Brenda Talmadge and Linda Talmadge, all of Forsyth.

The family may be contacted at 15 Cheeves Road. Freeman Brothers Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Laura Thomas
FORT VALLEY - Services for Laura Carron Thomas will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Beaufort, S.C., Baptist Church with burial in the national Cemetery in Beaufort, S.C. Thomas, 85, died Tuesday, Feb.. 29, 2000. Born in Colleton County, S.C., she was a homemaker and a member of Beaufort Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Marion Mapel of Fort Valley; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Rooks Funeral Home.

Sonja Upchurch
Services for Sonja Reddy Upchurch will be at noon Thursday in Crest Lawn Funeral Home with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Upchurch, 61, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000. Born in Fulton County, she lived most of her life in Macon and worked as a secretary for T.Y. Gibson Pest Control for 38 years. She was a member of Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church, was assistant dietician and a member of the choir.

Survivors include her children, Steve Upchurch of Macon, Chris Upchurch of Lizella, and Regina Upchurch of Warner Robins; a sister, Evelyn Adams of Macon; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home, and may be contacted at 941 Ahwenasa Trail.

William Urquhart
FORSYTH - Services for William Ernest Urquhart will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Russellville Baptist Church with burial in Mount Vernon Cemetery. Urquhart, 81, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000. He was born in Geneva County, Ala., the son of the late Benjamin E. and Grace M. Urquhart. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was retired from Georgia Power and was a 33nd degree Mason and a member of Woodmen of the World Lodge No. 369. He was a member and deacon of Russellville Baptist Church.

survivors include his wife, Marjorie Urquhart; children, Bill Urquhart of Forsyth and Edwen Urquhart of Vidalia; a sister, Nellie Leonard of Kingsland; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be made to Russellville Baptist Church, Shriners Children's Hospitals, American Heart Association (Monroe County Unit) or the donor's favorite charity.

Elizabeth Vance
VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - Memorial services for Elizabeth Elam Vance will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Pineola Baptist Church. Vance, 89, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000. She was born in Kings Mountain, N.C., the daughter of the late Richard Fuller and Sarah Roberts Elam. She was a graduate of Wingate and Meredith colleges and received a master's degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. The widow of Zebulon Baird Vance, she taught in high schools in Marion and Chapel Hill, N.C., and was on the faculty at Mercer University in Macon for 33 years, teaching business and economics. She was involved in Habitat for Humanity, the DAR and the Avery County Historical Museum. She was a member of Pineola Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children, Dr. Elizabeth Raft of Durham, N.C., and Mary Watson of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; brother and sister, Philip Ramseur Elam of Mars Hill, N.C., and Viola Smith of Blandenboro, N.C.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Avery County Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 1016, Newland, N.C. 28657, or to the Avery County Hospice, 351 Mitchell St., Newland, N.C. 28657.

James Walker
OCILLA - Services for James Roseboro "Charlie" Walker will be at 2 p.m. today in Ocilla United Methodist Church with burial at 4 p.m. in Helena Cemetery. Walker died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000. He was born in Jeff Davis County, the son of the late Joshua and Addie V. Walker. He had lived in Ocilla for many years and was the widower of Elizabeth Stewart Walker. He was a member of Ocilla United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a brother, Walstein Walker of Milldgeville; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Ocilla United Methodist Church or to the donor's favorite charity. Lowes' Funeral Home of Helena has charge of arrangements.

Ralph Anderson
DOUGLAS - Services for Ralph Anderson will be at 11 a.m. today in Carver Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Anderson, 79, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000. Born in Coffee County, he was an Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict, retired as staff sergeant after 22 years of service. He also was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation in the Traffic Survey Division.

Survivors include his children, Thelma William and Edwin Anderson, both of Douglas, Linda Moorman of Columbus, Ohio, and James Anderson of Waycross; sisters, Vera Mae Hersey of Douglas and Beatrice Flowers of Bismarck, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.

Ricketson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Newis Boggus Sr.
FITZGERALD - Services for Newis Bass Boggus Sr. will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Paulk Funeral Home with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Boggus, 92, died Friday, March 3, 2000. He was born in Heard County, the son of the late Robert E. and Lola Anna Bass Boggus. He lived in Fitzgerald most of his life and made his home in the Baptist Village in Waycross since 1994. The widower of Flora Ann Mitchum Boggus, he was a trainman for Seaboard Coastline Railroad, retired after 45 years of service, and was a member of the United Transportation Union. He was a member of Frank Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include his children, Newis B. Boggus Jr. of Waycross, Shirley Davenport of Lilburn, and Linda Donaldson of Casselberry, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight. Memorials may be made to Frank Primitive Baptist Church c/o Walter Sumner, P.O. Box 112, Ocilla.

Elsie Butt
FORSYTH - Services for Elsie Frances Shell Butt will be at 1 p.m. today in Forsyth United Methodist Church with burial in Monroe Memorial Hills. Butt, 85, died Thursday, March 3, 2000. She was born in Vienna, the daughter of the late Clara Belle Barry and the Rev. John N. Shell. She was the widow of Cecil Weaver Butt. She was a member of Forsyth United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Margaret Gramoglia of Dunwoody; sister and brother, Mary Alice Maddox of Columbus and Harold Shell of Gulfport, Miss.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the church. The family suggests, as a memorial, buying books for the Monroe County Library or donations to the church. Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Royce Dominy
McINTYRE - Services for Royce Perry Dominy will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in White Columns Funeral Home in Gordon, with burial at 4:30 p.m. in Mount Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery, Bleckley County. Dominy, 66, died Friday, March 3, 2000. He was born in Bleckley County, the son of the late Walter Henry and Rosa Lee Ellington Dominy. He lived in Gordon for many years before moving to McIntyre several years ago. He was a retired mechanic with Freeport Kaolin Co.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Adkins Dominy; children, Sherry Mitchiner of Gordon and Joseph Neil Dominy, Randy Perry Dominy and Walter Lee Dominy, all of McIntyre; sisters and brother, Evelyn D. Horne, Nina D. Bryant and Joyce D. Phillip, all of Cochran, and William Lamar Dominy of Dothan, Ala.; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Lorene Dowdy
FITZGERALD - Services for Lorene Hawkins Dowdy will be at 11 a.m. today in Paulk Funeral Home with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Dowdy, 80, died Friday, March 3, 2000. Born in Pulaski County, she had lived in Fitzgerald since 1946. The widow of Glenn Dowdy, she was a homemaker, a former inspector at Fitzgerald Underwear and a member of the Retired Railroad Club. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children, Genita Cohen of Holden Beach, N.C., Gerry Harris of Powder Springs, Glennette Latham of Fitzgerald, Bette Walsh of Blackshear and Wanda Luke of Fitzgerald; 15 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Naomi Gammage
Memorial services for Naomi Gammage will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Glenwood Hills United Methodist Church. Gammage, 91, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000. A graduate of Wesleyan Art School, she was a retired lunchroom manager at Burke Elementary School. She was the widow of Norman Charles Gammage. She was an active member of Glenwood Hills United Methodist Church and was also a member of Second Street United Methodist Church, the Macon Women's Club, First Baptist Church Keen Agers, Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church Golden Agers and the Crochet Club.

Survivors include her sisters and brother and their families, Rebecca S. King and Neil S. Shadburn, Alfred Smalling and his wife, Alice; her granddaughter and family, Jacqueline Trace, her husband, Bruce, and their two children; and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glenwood Hills United Methodist Church, 3357 Rice Mill Road, Macon 31206. Hart's Mortuary has charge of arrangements.

Kathryn Green
MIDWAY, Ark. - Services for Kathryn Patterson Greene will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Highview Cemetery, Gray. Greene, 87, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000. She was born in Statesboro, the daughter of the late Carl Bacon and Nezzie Mize Patterson, and attended Georgia State College for Women. The widow of Herbert Everett Greene, she was a homemaker. She was a former member of Gray United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her children, Barbara Greene of Midway, Ark., and Charles Greene of Roxie, Miss.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the donor's favorite charity. Bridges Funeral Home, Gray, has charge of arrangements.
