FREEMAN
Louise McCarthy Freeman, 95, of Durham, N.C., died Friday, April 21, 2006, in Knoxville, Tenn.
She was educator with the Durham City School System for more than 30 years.
She was born icon Sept. 16, 1910, in Camden County to Edgar A. McCarthy and Ila Lang McCarthy. She was educated at South Georgia College Academy in McRae; Georgia Woman’s College in Milledgeville; University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; and Duke University.
She was a charter member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary teachers’ sorority; a member of Current Book Club; and a member of NCAE. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Durham for more than 40 years and was a charter member of Rand Bible Class.
She was married icon to Robert Earle Freeman Sr. for 49 years, until he died in 1989.
In addition to her parents and husband, a brother, Lt. Col. E. A. McCarthy, precedes her in death.
Survivors include her sons, Larry (Kathy) Freeman of Knoxville and Robert Earle Freeman Jr. of Jekyll Island; grandchildren, Angela Freeman of Charleston, S.C., and David Freeman of Greensboro, N.C.; sisters, Beatrice Calhoun of Jekyll Island, Marguerite Meagher of Brunswick and Hazel White of White Oak; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 26 at First Baptist Church, Durham. Memorial donations should be sent to Adventa Hospice, 1420 Dutch Valley Road, Knoxville, TN 37918 or First Baptist Church, 414 Cleveland St., Durham, NC 27701.

LYON
Helen Lyon, 86, of St. Marys died Monday, April 24, 2006, at her residence.
A native of Atlanta, she had resided in Camden County for the past 30 years. She was a graduate of Washington Seminary in Atlanta, a member of St. Phillips Cathedral in Atlanta, taught elementary school during World War II and was a homemaker.
She was a member of the original St. Marys Garden Club, member of the ladies golf team of the Golf and Country Club of St. Marys and a member of Christ Church Episcopal.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, retired Col. Clifford Lyon of St. Marys; and daughter, Joan (Tim) Wappes of St. Marys; and grandchildren, Lyon Davis and Cliff Davis.
Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 27 at Christ Church Episcopal Chapel, with the Rev. Mac Flowers officiating.
Allison Memorial Chapel of St. Marys is in charge of arrangements.

MAYFIELD
Wilmer Mayfield, 70, of St. Marys died Friday, April 21, 2006, at Hospice of the Golden Isles.
A native of Louisiana, he had lived in Camden County for the past 66 years and was a retired truck driver. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Homerville.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 24 at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation was held one hour prior to service time.

WILSON
Patsy Elaine Horne Wilson, 64, of Waverly died Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick.
Wilson was born icon in Starke, Fla. She was a resident of Camden County since 1988. She was employed as a restaurant cook.
Survivors include her brothers, Mallory Horne and Jack Horne, both of Waverly, and Richard Horne of Sparr, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Brunswick Memorial Park & Funeral Home of Brunswick is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family at 578 Haynor Road, Waverly, GA 31565.

BISHOP - James E. Bishop, 82, of Kingsland died on Sunday, April 13, 2003 at his residence, after a brief illness.
Bishop had been a resident of Kingsland for the past five months, after living in Hawaiian Garden, Calif. He was born icon to the late James and Bertha Bishop on Sept. 9, 1920 in Lake Carrier, Miss.
Bishop retired from Todd Naval Station, where he worked as an electrician for the civil service after 25 years of service. He served in the United States Army during World War II, serving in Gen. George Patton's Tank Division.
He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Kingsland.
Survivors include his wife, Gullie Bishop of Kingsland; two sons, Norman Bishop West of Kingsland and Jerry Bishop West of Apple Valley, Calif.; a sister, Marie Bishop Bollin of Hemett, Calif.; two great-nephews; one great-great-nephew; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 18 at First United Pentecostal Church on Clarks Bluff Road in Kingsland.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. following the visitation, with Pastor N.E. Blizzard officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Chapel Park Cemetery in Brunswick on Cate Road.
Edo Miller Camden Chapel of Kingsland is in charge of arrangements.

KRAY - Helen Elaine Kray, 88, of Kingsland died on Monday, April 14, 2003 at the St. Marys Convalescent Center.
Kray was a native of Barberton, Ohio. She resided in Camden County for the past three years. She was a homemaker.
Kray was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Ohio.
Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Hardin of Kingsland and Linda Moskus of North Olmsted, Ohio; sons, Dave Kray of Stow, Ohio, and Bill Kray of Bedford, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in Bedford, Ohio, on Tuesday, April 22. Allison Memorial Chapel of St. Marys is in charge of local arrangements.

DUNN - Flossie Flett Dunn, 81, of St. Marys died on Monday, May 12, 2003 at the Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center in Brunswick.
Dunn was a native of Granby, N.Y. After living in Michigan, she had been a resident of Camden County for the past 22 years.
She was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Cooties Women's Auxiliary, and had worked as a volunteer radio operator with the Comstock Fire Department in Comstock, Mich. Dunn was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, John Henry Dunn Sr. of St. Marys; sons, Charles (Trish) Dunn of Kalamazoo, Mich., John Dunn of St. Marys, Patrick (Kim) Dunn of Parchment, Mich.; daughters, Rosemary (Steve) Early of Lawerence, Mich., Carrone (David) Richmond of St. Marys, Rita (Duane) Daniels of Nacogdoches, Texas , Nancy (Roy) Sharp of Comstock and Joann (Karl) Guetschow of Kalamazoo; sister, Dorothy Chittenden of Phoenix, N.Y.; 20 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Dunn was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Maude Flett; brothers, Lake Flett, Aleck Flett, Bert Flett and Charles Flett; and sisters, Maime Borrello and Iva Simons.
Memorial services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 15 at Allison Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Vernon Dillingham officiating.
Interment will be held at a later date at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any cards or remembrances be sent to John H. Dunn Sr., 800 Miller St., Lot No. 12, St. Marys, Ga. 31558.

LINTON - Charles (Charlie) Edwin Linton, 68, of St. Marys died on Thursday, May 29, 2003 at his residence.
Linton was a native of Louisville, Ky. After living in San Diego, Calif., he had resided in Camden County for the past 12 years. He was born icon May 10, 1935 to Elmer and Lillian Linton in Louisville where he grew up.
He served in the U.S. Navy, retiring with 20 years of service. He fought in the Korean and Vietnam wars, where he received numerous medals and commendations.
After his retirement, Linton continued to serve his country by working for civil service, primarily at NAS North Island, Calif., and the Naval Submarine Base, Kings Bay.
He was most recently employed with Farmers & Builders Supply for the past seven years. Linton was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 36 years, Karen Wasterlain Linton of St. Marys; two sons, Norman (Regina) Wicks of Hillsboro, Ore., and Scott (Susan) Linton of Caswell, Maine; two daughters, Amy (Calvin) Cox of White Oak and Angela Linton of St. Marys; one stepson, Mark (Marie) Lanham of Van, Texas ; mother, Lillian Linton of Louisville; brother, Norman (Sheila) Linton of Louisville; sister, Betty (Bud) Magee of Louisville; nine grandchildren; several aunts and uncles; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Linton was preceded in death by his father, Elmer W. Linton; a son, Charles E. Linton Jr.; and a sister, Mary Ruth Lanham.
Visitation was held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 1 at Allison Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 2 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Kingsland, with Rev. Jim Balke officiating, and with full military honors.
Interment will follow at a later date at the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, Calif.

WILLINGHAM - Theron "Willie" Willingham, 78, of St. Marys died on Friday, May 30, 2003 at the Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center in Brunswick, after an extended illness.
Willingham was born icon to the late John Luther Willingham and Lizzie Stokes Willingham on Nov. 23, 1924 in Cochran.
He had been a lifelong resident of St. Marys. He was retired from Gilman Paper Company after 30 years of service.
Willingham served in World War II in the United States Army. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Marys.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanell Taylor Willingham, and a daughter, Deborah Diane Willingham.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Willingham; daughter, Jona Kenninson of Kingsland; a brother, Billy Willingham of Cochran; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 1 at Edo Miller Camden Chapel.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 2 at the First Baptist Church of St. Marys, with Rev. Steve Kegley and Rev. George Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Edo Miller Camden Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

WYNN - Melissa Kori Wynn, 16, died on Friday, May 30, 2003 in an automobile accident in Pierce County.
Wynn was a native of Tifton. She was a lifelong resident of Pierce County.
She was a student at Pierce County High School where she would have been a junior this coming year. She was the sophomore class vice president and was involved in student council.
Wynn was a member of the Pierce County High School softball team and tennis team. She was also the Pierce County Middle School Homecoming Queen.
Wynn was a member of First Baptist Church of Blackshear. She also attended Emmanuel Baptist Church and was active with the youth groups.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, D.C. Wynn.
Survivors include her parents, Buck and Glenda Wynn of Blackshear; a sister, Dee Dee Carter (Chris) of Blackshear; her grandparents, Barbara Wynn of Waycross and Carl and Lucy Horne of Kingsland; two aunts, Cathy Chancey of Nahunta and Wanda Brown of Jacksonville, Fla.; two uncles, Dennis (Anne) Horne and Don (Kim) Horne, all of Kingsland; and many other relatives.
Visitation was held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 1 at Smith Funeral Home in Blackshear.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 2 at the funeral home. Interment was in Oakland Cemetery.
Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

BRAZELL - Brenda Capps Brazell, 57, of Kingsland died on Monday, June 16, 2003 at her residence.
Brazell was a native of Chatham County. She had resided in Camden County for the past 37 years. She was a homemaker.
Brazell was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Kingsland.
Survivors include her husband, Charles E. Brazell of Kingsland; daughters, Cynthia Leigh Strickland, Bess Renee Norton and Deidra Suzanne O'Quinn, all of Kingsland; brothers, Richard Cribbs of Atlanta and Charles Sylvester Capps Jr. of Pembroke; sister, Marjorie Sue Rossler of Pembroke; and five grandchildren, Courtney Strickland, Chase Strickland, Hunter Strickland, Ryan Norton and Kendal Norton.
Brazell was preceded in death by a son, Charles Steven Brazell.
Visitation was held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18 at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 19 at Brazell Cemetery, with Rev. Vernon Dillingham officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, Ga. 31525.
Allison Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
