Victor L. Watkins
The funeral for Victor Lawrence Watkins of Lawrenceville was held Wednesday at the Lilburn-Tucker Chapel of Bill Head Funeral Home. The Rev. Clarence Cannon officiated. Interment was at Sodom Cemetery in Lithonia.
A native of Atlanta, Mr. Watkins, 42, died Dec. 16, 2002. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Mercer Watkins.
Surviving are his mother, Barbara Watkins; sister, Laurie Green; brother-in-law, Hunter Green, all of Lawrenceville; and nieces, Jennifer Green of Athens, Rebecca Green of Conyers and Diana Green of Barefoot Bay, Fla.

Oliver S. Broz
The memorial mass for Oliver Stanley (Ollie) Broz of Smyrna will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 4300 King Springs Road, in Smyrna. The Rev. Gene Barrett will officiate.
Mr. Broz, 59, died Feb. 14, 2003. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. He was retired as a data communication senior systems software specialist in the computer industry. He was also a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Smyrna American Legion Post.
Surviving are his wife, Ann Broz; daughters, Linda Gillespie of Conyers and Elaine Broz of Smyrna; and sister, Patricia Zeigler of Pittsburgh, Penn.

Doris F. Cowan
The graveside service for Doris Frances Cowan of Atlanta will be held at 2 p.m. today at Sodom Cemetery in Lithonia with the Revs. Robert Moon and Alton Hardy officiating.
A native of DeKalb County, Mrs. Cowan, 85, died Feb. 13, 2003. She was a homemaker and member of Corinth Baptist Church in Scottsdale.
Surviving are her husband, Jesse Cowan; sister-in-law, Flora Smith of Atlanta; nieces, Ila Mae Talley of Forest Park and Flora Ann Baucom of Oxford; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends today from 10 a.m. until noon at the Olde Town Chapel of Horis A. Ward Funeral Home.

Charles E. Maloy
The memorial service for Charles E. (Mal) Maloy of Conyers will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at the chapel of Harry L. White Funeral Home. Dr. Stuart Greene will officiate.
Mr. Maloy died Feb. 14, 2003, at Rockdale Hospital. He was the owner of Mal Maloy Insurance Agency in Conyers. He was also a member of the Piedmont Train Association and the MARTA Retiree Group.
Surviving are his daughters and son-in-law, Jan Maloy of Columbus and Debbie and Alan Cantwill of Piqua, Ohio; sisters and brother-in-law, Shelby Shirley of Phenix City, Ala., and Linda and Brad Corbitt of Seale, Ala.; brother, Kenneth Maloy of Ozark, Ala.; fiancee, Marilyn McLemore of Conyers; two granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to Portsbridge Hospice in Conyers.
The family will receive friends on Monday one hour prior to the service.

Rebecca W. Bowen
The funeral for Rebecca (Becky) Womack Bowen of Covington will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home in Covington. The Revs. Curtis Jackson and Robert Nash will officiate. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park.
Born in Walton County, Mrs. Bowen, 62, died April 6, 2003, at Newton General Hospital. She was the daughter of the late James Willie and Ruby Lee Burnett Womack. She was raised in Newton County before becoming an army wife. She, her husband, Joel C. Brown, and family lived the life of a typical army family. They spent 20 years in Hinesville/Ludowice area before retiring to Newton. She was employed by AAFES for more than 20 years and was a member of St. John Baptist Church in Decatur.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her daughters and son-in-law, Joanne (Jody) Bowen of Ludowice and Kathy and Jack L. Heidenescher of Rothwell, England; grandchildren, Chad Benjamin Cooke, James William Cooke and Toby Dwight Heidenescher; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Lou Van Horn of Social Circle and Ann and Preston Duckett of Ball Ground; brother and sister-in-law, James Lee and Jerri Womack of Stone Mountain; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6-9 at the funeral home.

Weldon D. Copeland
The funeral for Weldon D. Copeland of Covington will be held at 2 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church in Covington with remains placed in state at 1:30 p.m. Dr. Don Martin and the Rev. Royeese Stowe will officiate. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta.
Born in Fulton County, Mr. Copeland, 81, died April 7, 2003, at Portsbridge Hospice. He was the daughter of the late Donald Orr and Sally Powell Copeland. He had been a resident of Covington since 1970. He was a member of Covington First United Methodist Church, Christina Fellowship Sunday school class, Senior Saints Choir, administrative board and was a former lay leader. He was a member of Newton County Camp of the Gideons International and a past president of AARP 2265. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II and the Korean War. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech, where he received a BS degree and a master's degree in industrial management. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucile Fisher Copeland.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Freeman Copeland; children, Donald Copeland of Canton, Harry Copeland of Marietta, Mary Ann Isbill of Douglasville, Rebecca Freeman of Marietta and Cathy Shannon of Covington; and grandchildren, Garrison Copeland, Abigail Copeland, Brandon Copeland, Brent and Ebby Isbill, Brad Isbill, David and Andrea Isbill Yeager, Jennifer Mask, Jill Shannon and Jeremy Shannon.
Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1113 E. Conyers St., Covington, GA 30014.
Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home in Covington is in charge of the arrangements.

Maxwell D. Ryefield Jr.
Maxwell D. (Max) Ryefield Jr., 60, of Covington, formerly of Illinois, died April 4, 2003, at his residence. He was born in Muskegon County, Mich., to the late Maxwell D. (Sr.) and Phyllis Brown Ryefield. He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Whelan. He had been a resident of Covington since 1980 and had been employed by the city of Covington as a mechanic and shop foreman since 1981. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and also worked as a real estate agent.
Surviving are his wife, Pat Ryefield; children, James Michael Hunt of Covington, Terry Hunt of Albany, N.Y., Tammy Hunt of Jackson, Brian Hunt of Covington, Brenda Ryefield of Palatine, Ill., Tracy Ryefield of Hanover Park, Ill., Bobbie and Mark Mitchell of Covington, Nikki and Mike Worm of Easley, S.C., and Tami and Jeff George of Fenville, Mich.; sister, Norma Houseman of Muskegon Heights, Mich.; brother, Randy Ryefield, also of Muskegon, Mich.; 23 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home in Covington provided the information. A formal service will not be held.

DELOACH
Dr. Allan Lewis DeLoach, Jr, age 48, of Covington, Ga., died Thursday, June 19, 2003. Funeral services will be held today, June 22, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Social Circle, Ga.. Rev. Mickey Moss, Rev. Claude Grant and Rev. Frank Norris will officiate. Pallbearers will be Gerald Whitley, Mike Maloney, Michael Fox, Ray Thompson, Grant Englehardt, Tony Wright. There will be a private interment.
Dr. DeLoach was a dentist for 20 years, He was a member of the Georgia Dental Association and the American Dental Association. He was also a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Social Circle. He is survived by mother, Mrs. Lea Englehardt; stepfather, Mr. Marlin D. Englehardt, both of Covington, Ga.; son, Mr. Ryan Lewis DeLoach, Covington, Ga.; sisters:, Dr. Sherry O. Maloney, Gainesville, Ga., Ms. Debbie D. Thompson, Conyers, Ga.; brothers-in-law, Dr. Michael Maloney, Gainesville, Ga., Mr. Ray Thompson, Conyers, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Building Fund, 55 Hwy. 229, Social Circle, Ga. 30025. Wheeler Funeral Home, 770-786-7111.

MAXWELL
Mrs. Betty Jean Maxwell, age 79 and wife of the late W.C. Maxwell, died at her Conyers residence on June 20, 2003. Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Harry White Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 23, with the Rev. Reese Sanders officiating. Interment will be at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens in Conyers.
Survivors include a son, Dennis Maxwell of Conyers; daughters, Kathy White and Gayle Coursey of Conyers, Bonnie Johnson of Griffin and Brenda Dowdy of Murphysboro, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Maxwell was born in Toccoa, Ga. She worked as a dietitian. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today, June 21, and Sunday, June 22. Harry L. White Funeral Home, 770-483-7216.

Jean Hames, 50, of Social Circle died July 6, 2003. She was born Feb. 25, 1953, in Marshal County, Ala., to the late John Lamar Gilliland and Tommie Ruth Jeffers Gilliland. She was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Lucos Hames.
Surviving are her husband, Claude Hames Jr.; son, Joshua Paulos Hames, both of Social Circle; mother, Tommie Ruth Gilliland of Sardis, Ala.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pattie and John Johnston of Cave Spring, Ga., Anita and Roy Parham of Lawton, Okla., Terri and Steve Bellenger of Fort Mill, S.C., and Susan Cheryl and Steve Yeargin of Union Grove, Ala.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Kathy Gilliland of Cropwell, Ala., and Steve and Pam Gilliland of Douglas, Ala.

Patricia McPherson. Creamer, 60, of Rutledge, passed away on Saturday., Jan. 15, 2005. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at Ward’s Rockdale Chapel at 11 a.m. with Rev. Paul Flood officiating. Interment will be held at 3 p.m. at Armuchee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born in Atlanta, Ga., on Oct. 4, 1944, Ms. Creamer was a member of Winder Church of God and was a past president of the P.T.A. at T.J. Guice Elementary School. She was a nurse at GA Baptist Hospital and St. Mary’s Home Healthcare, and counseled at Morgan Co. Drug and Mental Rehabilitation Center and the Battered Women’s Group.
She is survived by her companion, William Ellit; daughter, Virginia Torbush of Rutledge; granddaughter Keisha Torbush, Rutledge; brothers, Douglas Ray Scroggs of Auburn, Leroy Evans of Auburn, O’Neal Evans of Austell, Tim Evans of Winder, Ted Evans of Winder; sisters, Annette Hendrix of Monroe, Sally McPherson of Duluth, Bessie Tims of Jefferson, Dale Evans of Bethlehem, Brenda Engles of Center, Ala.; father, Ernest McPherson of Duluth; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Deforest Creamer and mother, Hazel Virginia Hendrix.

SGM (Ret.) Clinton Pollard Wills, U.S. Army, passed away Feb. 2, 2005, at his residence in Conyers, GA. Mr. Wills moved back to the Conyers-Covington area in 2003 from Elizabethtown, KY, after being away for many years. He was a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church in Elizabethtown, KY, for 25 years, having recently moved his membership to Northminister Baptist Church in Conyers. He retired from the U.S. Army after 29 years, having served in WW 11 and Vietnam, He was a Pearl Harbor survivor. Mr. Wills was a 50-year member of the Masonic Blue Lodge #6 in Covington where he had just recently received his 50-year pin. He also held the 32nd Degree from Louisville Scottish Rite. He was a member of AUSA and the American Legion Post 4113 in Elizabethtown, KY. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hazel K, Wills of Conyers; his son, Mr. Gregory Lance Wills of Hawaii; his two daughters, Mrs. Kathryne Elaine Morris of Anderson, SC, and Mrs. Susan Lanette Fox of Ft. Wayne, IN; his sister, Mrs. Virginia Lawrence of Huntsville, AL, and his grandchildren, Christopher Meeks, Jonathan Fox, Michael Fox, Tori Wills, several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mr. Wills will be Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Harwell Funeral Home in Covington, GA, with the Interment to follow with military honors at Lawnwood Memorial Park. Rev. Larry Townsend and Rev. John Strickland will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Fox, Jonathan Fox, Christopher Meeks, Richard Fox, Mark Griffeth and Donald Kelly. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening, 6-8 p.m.
