BANASZEWSKI
Mr. Joseph F. Banaszewski, age 72, Covington, GA, formerly of Wallingford, CT died Thursday, March 3, 2005. He was born June 8, 1932. He began working at the age of eight, when he was a paper boy for the Morning Record (now Record-Journal), and held that job until he was 16. He had also worked six years delivering milk for Jablonski Dairy and worked the fountain in Jaybees Smoke Shop. He earned his pilot’s license in 1948 at 16 years of age. He was a graduate of Meriden High School, Class of 1950, and graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, where he earned a Bachelor of Aeronautical Engineering degree. He pursued graduate studies at the University of New Haven where he earned a Master of Science degree in 1987. Later in life, he attended New York University where he became certified in Art Appraisal and in Art Restoration in 1995. He was a veteran, having served in the Air Force and he retired as a captain. He had been employed by Sikorsky Aircraft for 35 years until his retirement in 1994. Throughout his life, Mr. Banaszewski had been a businessman, having owned Mid-County Plumbing Supply from 1969-1974 and been a partner of Frames by Regina and Landmark Gallery from 1989-2000. He was a member of the Alpha Tau Chapter of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, and was a past member of the Meriden Kiwanis, Meriden Lions Club, and the Wallingford Rotary Club. He and his wife moved to Georgia in 2002. He was preceded in death by father, Joseph F. Banaszewski. He leaves his loving wife of over 50 years: Mrs. Regina Wisniewski Banaszewski; mother, Adeline Banaszewski; daughter, Liane Rogers and her fiancee, Martin Preston; son and daughter-in-law, James F. and Diane Banaszewski; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and George Brown; grandchildren, Genevieve Rogers, Ralph Rogers Jr., Dawn Newell; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Gone Goyetta, several nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial mass on March 19, 2005, at St. Pius X, Conyers, GA, at 5:30 p.m. Gifts in his name may be sent to the Monastery of the Holy Spirit, 2625 State Ga. 212, Conyers, GA.

DUNAWAY
Mary J. Dunaway, 72, of Unadilla, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at her residence. Born in Wilcox County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Jones and Emma Kathleen Grinstead Jones. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Unadilla and the Swann Sunday School Class. Mary enjoyed playing the piano and singing gospel music including playing for the Angel Choir at church. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 53 years and was a loving mother and grandmother. She had worked as a clerk at Robins AFB. Survivors include husband, Don Dunaway of Unadilla; son, Lavon Dunaway (Iris) of Loganville; daughter, Donna Long (Bruce) of Perry; sister Elizabeth Boggs of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, April Jackson, Joey Pope, Angela Pope, Brooke Hardy, Jon Dunaway and Brittany Dunaway. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold Jones, Monroe Jones and Richard Jones; and by her sister, Juanita Martin. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today, March 5, in First Baptist Church of Unadilla. Interment will follow in Walnut Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 250, Unadilla, GA 31091 or to the donors favorite charity. EDWARDS
Kathryn "Kitty" Edwards, age 91, went home to be with her Lord on March 2, 2005. Graveside services will be today at 1 p.m. in Covington City Cemetery. Rev. Richard Lanning will officiate. Mrs. Edwards was born in Greensboro, N.C., and lived in Macon most of her life. She was a retired office clerk from the Macon Telegraph, and retired from Belk Mathews. She was a member of Ingleside United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband John Troy Edwards Jr.; father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Iowa Gunter Ellis; and son-in-law, Richard Burdette. Survivors include her children; Troy, III, (Ivonne) Edwards of Macon; Gloria Burdette of Birmingham, AL.; grandchildren, Shane (Mickie) Edwards, Jamie (Nettie) Edwards, both of Macon, John Troy Edwards IV of Arkansas, Brooks Burdette, Allen (Debbie) Burdette, Cliff (Jane) Burdette, all of Birmingham, AL, and Donny (Sue) Burdette of Savannah, GA; 11 great grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, sisters, Miriam Wheeler of Conyers, GA, and Maude Moody of Maryland. Memorials may be made to Ingleside United Methodist Church, 3187 Ridge Ave. Macon, GA 31204. Crest Lawn Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

MORRIS
Mr. James A. Morris, age 64, of Covington, Ga., died Thursday, March 3, 2005. Wheeler Funeral Home in Covington, 770-786-0090, is in charge of the arrangements.

BOYLE
John (Jack) L. Boyle, age 85, of Conyers, formerly of Duluth, MN, died March 25, 2005. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Melander Boyle of Conyers; daughters, Nancy Ann Christian of Chapel Hill, NC, Mary Agnes Hull-Shropshire of Cartersville, Patricia Jean Sheppard of Conyers; sons, Dr. Stephen and Ethel Boyle of Conyers, John L. Boyle II of Anne Arbor, MI, Michael T. and Mary Boyle of Conyers; 13 grandchildren, Stephen Boyle Jr. and Jennifer, Thomas T. Boyle and Kim, Andrea M. Boyle, Kristopher and Uyen Boyle, Jason Boyle, Karen Boyle, Paul Christian, Laura and Jason Darrough, Simon Boyle and David Boyle, Bob Hull, Gina Shropshire, Samantha and Chad Christian; 3 great-grandchildren, Patrick R. Boyle, Thomas H. Boyle and Chloe K. Christian; several nieces and nephews. Jack was a graduate of University of Notre Dame Class of 1941, a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He served in World War II in the 11th Airborne and was part of the U.S. Occupying Forces in Japan. He worked as an FBI agent then he worked for the Fulton County District Attorney's office and retired in 1986. NELSON
Virgie L. Nelson, age 79, of Covington, died Sunday, March 27, 2005. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Horis A. Ward’s Rockdale Chapel at 1 p.m., with Commissioner Harold Hinson and Brigadier Luther Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Erlanger, KY, on Friday, April 1, 2005 at 2 p.m.
A native of Jones County, MS, Mrs. Nelson was a homemaker and was a member of The Salvation Army Civilian Service and the Fieldstone Ladies Golf Association. She is survived by husband, Quentin F. Nelson of Covington; sons, Byron W. Nelson of Walton, KY, and Harold L. Nelson of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Jeff Holden Nelson of Walton, KY, and Harold L. Nelson Jr. of Norfolk, VA; 3 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today, from 6-8 p.m. at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home, Rockdale Chapel, 770-918-8851.

SIMPSON
Benjamin W. “Mr. Bennie” Simpson, age 91, of Conyers, died March 27, 2005. He is survived by son, Ron and Aileene Simpson, Conyers; grandchildren, Kevin and Sheri Simpson, Kendall and Helene Simpson, Keeli and Greg Nacke, Katy and Ray Zahradnik; 8 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Harry White Chapel with Pastor Mike Morgan officiating; interment, Green Meadow Memorial Gardens. AYCOX
Mrs. Mary Aycox, 79, of Conyers, Ga., died April 17, 2005 at her residence. Born in Porterdale, Ga., on Jan. 22, 1927, as the daughter of the late George W. Driver and Mrs. Mamie McGee Driver. Mrs. Aycox enjoyed singing and playing the guitar to her favorite gospel music, she enjoyed traveling yearly to the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee and was known around the area for her cooking and famous biscuits that put her on television on Good Day Atlanta. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, Mr. Willie Albert Aycox in 1978. She is survived by sons and daughter-in-law Willie Aycox, Jr., of Conyers, Ga., Joe and Peggy Aycox (Sr.) of Monticello, Ga.; daughters and son-in-law Sandra Leach of Conyers, Ga., JoAnne and Garrett McLaughlin off Covington, Ga.; 7 grandchildren, Wendy Newkirk, Lee Aycox Jr., Jay Leach, Mary McLaughlin, Ladd Rosipal, Renee Rosipal and Dwayne Montgomery; great-grandchildren, Stephen Aycox, Hunter Aycox, Stephen Rosipal, Madison Rosipal, Christopher Montgomery, Joey Montgomery; a godson, Ryan McGibony; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Aycox will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at two o’clock in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with the Rev. Lawrence Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Eastview Cemetery in Conyers. GRIZZARD
Janice Elizabeth Jones Grizzard, 69, of Conyers, died April 16, 2005, at her home. The daughter of the late Horace and Inez Bates Jones, she was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Grizzard loved her family and grandchildren, gardening, crafts, decorating and antiques. Surviving are her daughters and son-in-law, Gina Grizzard and Kris and Mark Morris; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard H., Jr., and Brenda Grizzard, Scott and Bobbie Grizzard, all of Conyers; 9 grandchildren, I great-granddaughter, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Grizzard will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, with Dr. Jim Martin, officiating, and Interment following at' Lawnwood Memorial Park, Covington. Family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Caldwell & Cowan, Covington, GA.

MASHBURN
Emily Pepper Mashburn, age 53, of Conyers, Ga., passed away April 15, 2005. She is survived by daughter, Nattie A. Mashburn, Stockbridge; son, Mitchel R. Mashburn, Stockbridge; sisters, Jennifer and David Bailey, Brentwood, Tenn., Robin and Chuck Schlacter, Brentwood, Tenn.; niece, Zoe Schlacter, Brentwood, Tenn. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Harry White Chapel, Interment to follow. RICHARDS
Grace D. Richards, age 85, of Conyers, died Sunday, April 17, 2005. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Horis A. Ward, Rockdale Chapel, with Father John Kieran officiating. Interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens. A native of Hudson County, New Jersey, Mrs. Richards was a retired secretary and of the Catholic faith. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, William Richards. Survivors include daughter, Irene Balkin and Bill Ritchie; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Jane Richards; grandchildren, Larry Balkin Jr., Heather Matthews, David Balkin; great-grandchild, Elizabeth Grace Matthews; sisters, Barbara Sweeney, Edna Dorry; brother, Donald Demarais. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. BLONDEAU
Mr. Leroy Blondeau, 65, of Covington, Ga., died Aug. 19, 2005. Mr. Blondeau was a member of Saint Augustine Catholic Church, a strong family man, an avid hunter and fisherman. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. National Guard for a combined term of 25 years. Upon his retirement from the air force Mr. Blondeau retired with the rank of Lt. Colonel, after his retirement from the air force, he joined the Air Force National Guard where he served as the commander of the 129th Tactical Control Squadron and was promoted to the rank of full Colonel before his retirement After serving in the U.S. armed forces, Mr. Blondeau retired from civil service, he then became a volunteer and deputy with the Newton County Sheriff’s Department. Mr. Blondeau is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Mrs. Billie Blondeau of Covington, Ga.; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Rick Evans of Carrollton, Ga.; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Kristin Blondeau of Winder, Ga., Mark and Traci Britt of Gainesville, Ga., Robert Blondeau of Brooklyn, N.Y.; grandchildren Mark Britt (Jr.), Elias Blondeau, Robert Evans, Trey Britt and Elizabeth Evans; sister, Judi Ankiewiez of Mobile, Ala.; brother, Harold Blondeau of Raleigh, N.C.; several nieces and nephews. Memorial services for Mr. Blondeau will be held two o’clock today, Monday, Aug. 22, 2005 at Saint Augustine Catholic Church with Father Luke Ballman officiating. Myrtice Duke Staples, age 99, of Rockdale County, died Aug. 20, 2005. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Ward’s Rockdale Chapel at 11 a.m., with Rev. Katherine Burdett officiating. Interment will follow at Lorraine Cemetery in McDonough, Ga.
A native of Rockdale County, Ga., Ms. Staples was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter Zelma (Z) Holder of Covington; son, W.A. Staples of McDonough; sister, Deanie Kelley of McDonough; grandchildren, Gregory Holder, Dewayne Holder, Anita Hunnicutt, and Clay Staples; great-grandchildren, Stuart Holder, Melissa Gibson, Hanna Staples, and Avery Staples; great-great-grandchildren, Blake and Amzi Holder; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.A. Staples.

Billy D. (Tootie) Crawford, age 71, of Conyers, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006. He is survived by wife, Jackie Crawford of Conyers; brother, Clarence and Gloria Crawford; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bobby and JoAnn Camp of McDonough; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Crawford was a member and a deacon at Milstead Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Scot Ward’s Harry White Chapel with Rev. Estelle Burt Hodge, age 67, of Conyers, died Feb. 7, 2006. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Bobby Whitt of Conyers; son, Steve Hodge of Conyers; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Allison Hodge of Conyers; sister and brother-in-law, Irene and James Hammonds of Rutledge; brother and sister-in-law, Wilbur and Sharon Burt of Rutledge; grandchildren, Danielle Hodge, Samantha Hodge and Bobby Allen Whitt; several nieces and nephews. A native of Dawson County, Mrs. Hodge was retired from The Harland Co., where she worked for over 20 years. A memorial service will be held 1 o’clock Friday, Feb. 10, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home. A private inurnment will take place at a later time at Hillandale Memorial Gardens. SMITH
Beverly NeSmith Smith, age 69, of Covington, died Feb. 6, 2006. She had been a resident of Covington for the past 8 years, where she was a member of First Baptist Church of Covington and enjoyed square dancing with the Newton Hayriders. After retiring from Bell South as an engineer with 41 years of service, Mrs. Smith worked as a part-time receptionist for the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Mrs. Smith is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Roy A. and Lisa Smith of Coral Springs, FL; grandchildren, Robert Smith, Alaina Smith, Max Smith and Jacob Smith; mother, Mary NeSmith of Covington; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Martha NeSmith of Miami, FL; nieces, Melissa Arana of Loganville, Marlene Arana of Miami, FL; first cousins, Burt Bradley of Buford, Robert and Debbie Bradley of Dallas. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at the First Baptist Church of Covington, with Rev. Len Strozier officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Flowers are acceptable or donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Covington, 1139 Usher St., Covington, GA 30014. EMERICK
Paul Emerick, age 84, of Conyers, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2006 at Portsbridge Hospice in Conyers GA. Mr. Emerick was born in New York City on June 20, 1921. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service, was a U. S. Army veteran of WWII, and a self taught artist. Mr. Emerick was a member of Conyers Church of Christ for over 20 years. Mr. Emerick is predeceased by his wife Bertie Lee Emerick. He is survived by his daughter; Linda Emerick and son-in-law Joseph Arsenault of Parkton MD, brother and sister-in-law John & Alice Emerick of Scotch Pines, NJ. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Those wishing may make contributions to Portsbridge Hospice, 1374 Manchester Dr., Conyers GA 30012 or The American Heart Association, P.O.
