SOBEL
Mr. Hyman Sobel, age 87, of Conyers, GA passed away on June 23, 2006. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty F. Sobel.
Surviving Mr. Sobel are: Gregg and Patricia Ann Trieschman, Suwanee, GA; Victor Jorge Fasola, Flowery Branch, GA; grandchildren: Jorge Fasola, Flowery Branch, GA, Gregg Trieschman, Acworth, GA, Thomas Trieschman, Memphis, TN.
Mr. Sobel was born on May 18, 1918. He was a retired draftsman and was a member of the Conyers Senior Citizens Club. He was an avid artist is painting pictures.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.

James Ronald Trussell, age 51, of Conyers, died Saturday, June 24, 2006. Arrangements by Horis A. Ward Funeral Home, Olde Town Chapel. 770-483-7208.

Patty Patterson Whedbee, age 46, of Conyers, died Sunday, June 25, 2006. Local funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at Horis A. Ward’s Rockdale Chapel at 8:00 p.m., with Dr. Ricky Brantley officiating. Another funeral service will be held on Friday, June 30th, at 8:00 p.m., with visitation from 6 to 8 pm, at Weatherford Mortuary in Oakridge, TN. Interment will be held at Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Oliver Springs, TN on Saturday, July 1, 2006 at 12 noon.
A native of Anderson County, TN, Mrs. Whedbee worked as a leasing agent for Keswick Village Apartments in Conyers for 7 years and was a member of Zion Baptist Church. She is survived by: husband of 20 years: Rick Whedbee of Conyers; son: Chad Whedbee of Conyers; parents: R. B. & Sue Patterson of Wartburg, TN; sisters: Linda & Kurt Sutton of Buford, Barbara & Sonny Kennedy of Halls, TN, Janice Wright of Knoxville, TN, Carol & Ron Keese of Knoxville, TN, Phyllis & Raphael Trento of Knoxville, TN; brother: Greg Patterson of Jacksonville, FL.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., prior to the service at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home, Rockdale Chapel, (770) 918-8851.

Mr. Andrew Jackson Brown, age 80, of Pendergrass, died August 21, 2006. J.C. Harwell & Son is in charge of the arrangements. 770-756-2524.

PITTMAN
Mr. Joseph C. Pittman, Sr. “J.C” age 73 of Covington, died on Sunday, August 20, 2006. He was born in Stamps, Arkansas on January 5, 1933 to the late Charles C. Pittman and Mary Jane Holmes Pittman. He is preceded in death by his wife: Mary Jo Karr Pittman and son: Michael Holmes Pittman.
Mr. Pittman is survived by spouse: Joanne Mann-Pittman of Covington; sons: Wesley Karr Pittman, Joseph Pittman, Jr., Douglas Cullen Pittman; daughter: Kouri Loree Pittman Richmond; 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 sisters and nephews.
The funeral service for Mr. Pittman will be held by Fuller Hale South Funeral Services 1621 South Cherry Street, Pine Bluff, Arkansas (870) 534-2120 on Friday, August 25, 2006 at 10:00 AM.

REDMOND
Summer Nicole Redmond, 2 months old, died on August 20, 2006. She was born on June 22, 2006 in Newton County to Bradley Wayne Redmond and Crystal Gayle Rowe.
Surviving are parents: Bradley Wayne Redmond and Crystal Gayle Rowe of Newborn; brothers: Hunter ad Skyler Redmond, both of Newborn; grandparents: Dale Smith and Roger Smith, both of Oxford, Kathy Redmond of Social Circle and Robert Daniel of Gainesville; aunts: Sarah Smith, Brandy Smith and Savannah Smith, all of Oxford; uncle: Adam Redmond of Covington; great grandfather: Raymond Smith of Monroe.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 23rd at the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home, Inc., with the Reverend Randy Watkins officiating. Interment: Hill Haven Cemetery.

SANDERS
Peggy Sanders, age 77 of Conyers died Tuesday, August 22, 2006. She is survived by son Hardy; daughters, Joanne, Carolyn, Ruby, Susan; grandchildren, Bobby, David, Jason. Jessica and Shannon.

ADAMS
Newton County native and lifelong resident, Herman Pearl Adams, age 89, died October 3, 2006, at his home in Covington. The son of the late C. Paul and Dessa Edwards Adams, he was a member of First Baptist Church in Covington, American Legion Post 32, and a past member of the Lions Club and Elks Club. Mr. Adams worked as a Supervisor in the Engineering Section of the Georgia Department of Transportation for 35 years. A U.S. Army Veteran, he served as a Medic during World War II, and often escorted deceased veterans back home.
Mr. Adams is survived by his wife of 64 years, Catherine Dial Adams; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Lanier and Emily Adams of Augusta; daughter and son-in-law, Bubba and Kaye Phillips of Covington; grandchildren, Nedra Blankenship, Richie Blankenship, Dessa Adams, Will Adams, Meg Adams and Serra Phillips; sister, Isabelle Avery of Covington; brothers and sisters-in-law, John W. and Virginia Adams of Augusta, Paul and Jeanne Adams of Covington.
Funeral Services for Mr. Adams will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 6, 2006, at First Baptist Church, Covington, with Rev. Len Strozier and Rev. J.J. Wilson officiating, and Interment following at Lawnwood Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, October 5, from 5 to 8 PM.

FRANKLIN
On October 4, 2006, Percy T. “Putt” Franklin went to be with his Lord and his loving wife, Frances. Percy and Frances were married for fifty-six years.
Percy was born in Upson County, Georgia in 1928. He graduated from R.E. Lee High School and received a pharmacy degree from Mercer University. He owned and operated Crews Pharmacy in East Point, Georgia for twenty-two years. He served on East Point’s City Council for ten years.
Percy took great pride in his devotion to his church. between Mt. Olive Baptist Church in East Point and County Line Baptist Church in Covington, he taught Sunday School for fifty-five years and was a deacon for fifty years.
Percy is survived by two loving daughters: Judy Franklin and Patt LaBarre; son-in-law: Put LaBarre; grandchildren: Benjamin and Anna LaBarre.
Funeral services and visitation will be held at Wheeler Funeral Home, Covington, Georgia. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. on 10/5/06. The funeral service is at 10 a.m. on 10/6/06. Graveside services will follow at 12:45 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Washington Road, East Point, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Gideons Ministry or Hospice of Americus and Sumter County.

THOMAS
John R. Thomas, age 68 of Jonesboro passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2006. Mr. Thomas was born August 7, 1938 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania . Mr. Thomas retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service and was most recently employed by Curb Specialist, Inc. in Conyers, where he worked over 23 years. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Thomas of Jonesboro; daughter: Mr. and Mrs. Gerald (Wanda) Wright of Locust Grove; son: Mark Hancock of Milledgeville, GA; grandchildren: Stephanie Lewis, Tyler Lewis; brothers: Peter Thomas and Glen Thomas both of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania .
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 2:00 pm in the Horis A. ward Tara Chapel. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will take place at a later date in Pittsburgh, Penn.

Juanita Rose White, age 77, of Covington , formerly of Lithonia, died October 3, 2006. She was preceded in death by husbands, Pat Rose and Gordon White, son, Chris White. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law: Johnny and Carol Rose; sisters, Shirley Wilson, Conyers, Charlene Cole, Loganville; brothers: Rev. Arvel Burrell, Atlanta, Rev. Doyle Burrell, Buford, Rev. Clyde Burrell, Stockbridge, Mr. Jimmy Burrell, Augusta; 3 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 3 O’Clock, Thursday, October 5, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Olds and Rev. Merlin Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Hillandale Memorial Gardens. Family will receive from 10 O’Clock until funeral hour at Henry Funeral Home, Lithonia.

ELLINGTON
Ovid Ross Ellington, a life long resident of Rockdale County, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, October 11-ten days shy of his 85th birthday. He was a long time member and deacon of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Rockdale County. After 30 years of service, he retired in 1976 from employment as an auto worker at the General Motors Lakewood Assembly Plant where he was known by co-workers and friends as "Kalab". He was a member of the Zingara Masonic Lodge for 63 years. He served in the Army Air Force Infantry Division during World War II and was involved in several battles and campaigns including Normandy.
Mr. Ellington is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Elsie Lankford Ellington; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Buddy Mason; son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Debbie Ellington, all of Conyers.
Survivors all include grandchildren, Jamey and Merry Mason, Charlie Mason, Scott Mason, Holly Ellington and Ross Ellington; one great-grandchild, Sophie Mason; sister and brother-in-law, Eudez and Herman Cowan; sister-in-law, Lucille Ellington; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Bethel Road, Conyers, Georgia with Rev. Scott Richardson and Rev. Cedric Banks officiating.

GARRISON, Robert N. "Bob" Garrison, age 72 of Dacula, GA died July 8, 2003.
He is survived by:

Son: David W. Garrison of Atlanta
Grandchildren: Keith & Bradley
Several Brothers & Sisters-in-Law and Nieces & Nephews.

Mr. Garrison was a U.S. Navy veteran, graduated from Georgia State College, was an Elder at Midway Presbyterian Church and in 1984 served as National President of AACA, where he also served on the AACA board for 16 years, and the AACA Library Board. He retired as branch manager of Burroughs Corporation.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 11, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Midway Presbyterian Church in Decatur, with Rev. Thomas Livengood & Rev. Woodrow McKay, Jr. officiating. Interment Midway Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
