James Purvis Jr.

PERRY - Services for James Ludwig Purvis Jr. will be private. Purvis, 74, died Monday, May 8, 2000. The son of the late J.L. Purvis Sr. and Pearl Purvis, he was a sales rep, retired from Sherwin Williams Co. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was a member of American Legion. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Perry.

Survivors include his wife, Ann J. Purvis; children, James Purvis III of Raleigh, N.C., Michael Purvis of Perry and Edward Purvis of Canton; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Perry First Baptist Church. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Geneva Rigby

EASTMAN - Services for Geneva Rigby will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Southerland Funeral Chapel with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery. Rigby, 80, died Monday, May 8, 2000. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sisters and brothers, Mollie Ferndon of Jacksonville, Fla., Barbara Clements of Fitzgerald, J.T. Rigby of Eastman, Johnny Rigby of Warner Robins, Rayvan Rigby of Columbus, James Rigby of Sumter, S.C., and Turner Rigby of Phenix City, Ala.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today in Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home and may be contacted at the Rigby residence, Route 3, Rigby Road, Eastman.

Cathy Ross

GORDON - Services for Cathy Anita Ross will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Spring Hill CME Church with burial in the church cemetery. Ross, 37, died Friday, May 5, 2000. Born in Gordon, she received her education in Wilkinson County schools. She was formerly employed at Springs Inc. for 14 years and was a member of Spring Hill CME Church.

Survivors include her husband, Victor Ross; children Keena Lockett and Victoria Ross, both of Macon; parents, Jim Van Lockett of Milledgeville and Georgia M. Burney of Macon; and brothers Bobby Burney of Texas City, Texas , and Jimmie Lockett of Atlanta.

The family may be contacted at 515 Mountain Spring Road. The body will be in the church at 2 p.m. Jones Brothers Eastlawn Memorial Chapel in Macon has charge of arrangements.

Clarence Smith

ST. SIMONS ISLAND - Services for the Rev. Clarence Ethen "C.E." Smith Jr. will be at 10 a.m. today in College Place United Methodist Church, Brunswick, with burial at 4 p.m. in Swainsboro City Cemetery. Smith, 76, died Friday, May 5, 2000. He was a member of South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church for more than 50 years. He attended the College United Methodist Church and was a member of New Life Sunday School Class.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Smith; children, Sharon Mays of Alpharetta, Judy Barner of Berea, Ohio, Aimee Combs, Heather Fathauer and Clarence Smith, all of Brunswick, Emory Smith of Tifton, Kenny Fathauer of North Royalton, Ohio, Adam Fathauer of Gahanna, Ohio, and Glenn Smith of Coral Springs, Fla.; sisters, Dolores Woosley of Manteca, Calif., and Lottie Godbee of Miller; and 16 grandchildren.

The body will be in the church at 9 a.m. today. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Building Fund of College Place United Methodist Church, 3890 Altama Avenue, Brunswick 31520. Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, Brunswick, has charge of arrangements.

Harry Stanley Jr.

Services for Harry Stanley Jr. were Friday in First Congregational Holiness Church. Burial was in Rockwell Baptist Church Cemetery. Stanley, 66, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000. He was a truck driver, retired from P.I.E. Trucking Co. He was a member of Rockwell Baptist Church and attended First Congregational Holiness Church. He was the son of the late Harry Stanley Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Iris Stanley; son Curtis Stanley of Jones County; stepchildren Church Coller of Savannah, Mearl Cooler of Gray, Margie Bragg of Macon and Shirley Dixon of Greenville, Texas ; mother, Alma Stanley of Vidalia; sister and brother Maggie Warnock of Vidalia and Otis Stanley of Milan; and eight grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Congregational Holiness Church Building Fund, 4127 Chambers Road, Macon 31206 or Vista Care Hospice, 750 Baconsfield, Suite 115, Macon 31211. Ingleside Memorial Chapel had charge of arrangements.

Olen Thompson

WARNER ROBINS - Services for Olen P. Thompson will be at 11 a.m. today in Central Baptist Church with burial in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Thompson, 70, died Saturday, May 6, 2000. He was retired from the maintenance division at Robins Air Force Base. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, 8:30 Pete Joyner Sunday School Class and Sunday School secretary in the children's class.

Survivors include his wife, Johniece Thompson; children Randy Thompson of Warner Robins and Terry Thompson of Bonaire; sister and brothers Jewell Stapleton of Lumber City, and Edward Thompson and James Thompson, both of Warner Robins; and four grandchildren.

Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, Warner Robins, has charge of arrangements.

Carolyn Walker

FITZGERALD - Services for Carolyn Cooper Walker will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Walker, 86, died Sunday, May 7, 2000. She was retired from the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service after 30 years of service. She was the widow of Clifford Walker. She was a member of First Baptist Church, a former Primary Department Sunday School teacher, a member of the choir for 50 years, a member of WMU and a member of Faith Sunday School Class.

Survivors include her children, Randall Walker of Valdosta and Linda Myers of Tifton; sister, Martha C. Walker of Fitzgerald; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Paulk Funeral Home.

Frances Weaks

Services for Frances Weaks will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Slater's Funeral Home, Milledgeville, with burial in Council Cemetery. Weaks died Saturday, May 6, 2000. She was a member of Parker Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include a niece, nephew and several other relatives.

Jacqueline Whatley

VIDALIA - Services for Jacqueline Whatley will be at 11 a.m. today in Lyons City Cemetery. Whatley, 73, died Sunday, May 7, 2000. She was a lab technician at blood banks in Waycross, Jacksonville, Fla., and Augusta. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her brother Will Whatley of Vidalia; and niece and nephew Marijack Whatley and Tom Whatley, both of Marietta.

The family requests no flowers. Murchison Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Horace Wilkes

EAST DUBLIN - Services for Horace Earl Wilkes will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Pleasant Springs Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Wilkes, 34, died Saturday, May 6, 2000.

Survivors include his son Anthony T. Wilkes of Macon; parents, Judon and Reta Fae Wilkes of East Dublin; and sister and brothers Margie Fountain, Bennie Wilkes, Fred Wilkes and Tommy Wilkes, all of Dublin.

Family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today in Stanley Funeral Home, Dublin.

Debra Blanton

SPARTA - Services for Debra Blanton will be at 2 p.m. today in Hunt's Chapel AME Church with burial in in the church cemetery. Blanton, 34, died Thursday, June 1, 2000.

Survivors include her parents, Otis L. Blanton of Dallas, Texas , and Annie Lois Blanton of Sparta; brother and sisters Keith Blanton Valeria Freeman, Mary Denise Blanton, Paula Blanton and Kimmy Blanton, all of Dallas, Texas .

Flossie Brown

ALPHARETTA - Services for Flossie Mae Brown will be at noon on Wednesday in Louie C. Jones Funeral Home with Interment in Lincoln Cemetery. Brown, 77, died Sunday, June 4, 2000.

Survivors include her extended family, Alex and Barbara McGraw and their two children, Brandon and Brittany.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Mercy Foundation, 5671 Peachtree-Dunwoody Road, Suite 700, Atlanta 30342.

E.O. Christy

Services for E.O. Christy will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in West Highland Baptist Church with burial in Macon Memorial Park. Christy, 72, died Sunday, June 4, 2000. The widower of Margaret Eugene Peters Christy, he was born icon in Oglethorpe County. The son of the late Elbridge James and Callie Louanna Shellnut Christy. He was retired from Timberlake Grocery Co. and was a member of West Highland Baptist Church. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #34.

Survivors include his sons, Anthony Wayne Christy of Greenville, S.C. and Elbridge Darrell Christy of Byron; his sisters, Florence Myers, Hazel Butler and Lenoria Smith, all of Watkinsville, and Willie Mae Wyatt of Macon; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue may be contacted at 4465 Pharr Ave. Macon, 31204.

Ethel Faulkner

WARNER ROBINS - Services for Ethel Marie Faulkner will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Nelson's Memorial Mortuary with burial in Parkway Memorial Garden Cemetery. Faulkner died Sunday, June 4, 2000. A native of Bibb County, she was the daughter of the late Grover C. and Willie Lee Taylor. She attended Bibb County Schools and was a member of Greater Antioch Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, youth advisor and Bible study leader. She was retired from the Bibb County Board of Education.

Survivors include her children Annette Hubbard of Warner Robins, Doretha Faulkner, Horace Faulkner and Ralph Faulkner, all of Macon, and Beverly Daniels of Atlanta; brothers and sister Harold Taylor of Newman, James Taylor of Ft. Valley and Louise Cummings of Warner Robins; adopted children Sencarda Coxton and Adrienna Coxton, both of Macon, Charles Coxton of Lizella and Robbie Coxton of Atlanta; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Ruby Fuller

REYNOLDS - Services for Ruby Byrd Fuller will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Goddard Funeral Home with burial in Crowell United Methodist Church Cemetery. Fuller, 88, died Sunday, June 4, 2000. A lifelong resident of Taylor County, she was a member of Reynolds United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Reynolds Woman's Club and the Taylor Made Club. A homemaker, she was the widow of Jerry Cecil Fuller.

Survivors include her children Joyce F. Timmerman of Plains and Geraldine F. Windham of Macon; sister Nell Wainwright of Reynolds; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crowell United Methodist Church Rebuilding Fund, P.O. Box 266, Reynolds, 31076.

Maggie Grantham

BEN HILL COUNTY - Services for Maggie Grantham will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald. Grantham, 64, died Sunday, June 4, 2000. A homemaker, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Mary Lee Davis Smith. A member of the community since 1969, she was a member of New Bethel Holiness Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Indian River Packing Co., Ft. Pierce, Fla. She was a former resident of Winter Garden, Fla., Kissimmee, Fla., St. Cloud, Fla., and Orlando, Fla.

Survivors include her daughter Pearlie Mae Floyd of Ben Hill County; brother and sisters Melvin Smith of Fitzgerald, Stella Davis and Nancy Smith, both of West Green, Virginia Pierce of Warner Robins and Mary Stone of Pearson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home.
