BOWMAN, Ga. - Ollie Seymour, of Bowman, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004 at Hospice House of the Upstate, Anderson.

Quoty Goldsmith

Aug. 31, 1943 - Oct. 8, 2004

HARTWELL, Ga. - Tally Cleotis "Quoty" Goldsmith, 61, of 151 Liberty Circle, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens.

Born in Hart County, he was employed with Springs Industries for 42 years in shipping and receiving, a member of the Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge 690, taught swimming lessons in Hart County for over 50 years, was a past member of the Hart County Fire Department and Rescue and was a former rescue diver. He was also a member of the Hartwell First Baptist Church and attended New Beginning's Interdenominational Church in Martin.

Surviving are widow, Martha Ann Cheek Goldsmith; sons, David Evans of Lavonia, Jimmy Goldsmith and B.J. Goldsmith, both of Hartwell; daughters, Tammy G. Henson of Hartwell, Marsha Bradley of Canon and Wendy Evans of Hartwell; brother, Barron Goldsmith of Hartwell; sisters, Charlotte Corn, Jane Hawkins and Sakie Hyde, all of Hartwell; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was the son of the late William Jacob Goldsmith and Estelle Bryson Goldsmith. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Goldsmith; and one great-grandchild.

Services are at 3 p.m. Sunday at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel, Elberton, by Pastor Al Clements and the Rev. Wayne Durden; burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet Church of God cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery with Robert Hyde and Sharon Thompson officiating at the graveside. The body is at the funeral home, where the family received friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday.

The family will be at the home of his daughter, Tammy Henson, 80 Lamont Drive, Hartwell.

Estes Dorsey

CLEVELAND, Ga. -- Estes Dorsey, 85, of 829 Hood St. died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at his home.

Born in White County, he was the son of the late Pledger and Nettie Blackwell Dorsey. He was a member and steward of Travis Chapel United Methodist Church and a World War II Army veteran.

Surviving are widow, Cora Lee Dorsey of the home; daughters, Linda Cantell of Gainesville, Jemy Dean Norman of Athens, Diane Daniel of Cleveland and Shelia Hicks of Dahlonega; sons, Tommy Dorsey of Oakwood, and Winston Dorsey of Athens; sisters, Virginia Hood of Detroit, Mich., and Susie Mae Brown of Clarkesville; brother, George Dorsey of Milwaukee, Wis.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Travis Chapel United Methodist Church, Cleveland, by the Rev. Kenneth Brown, burial will be in Mount Yonah cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Moss-Stovall-Neal Funeral Home, Toccoa.

Hubert L. Payne

TOCCOA, Ga. -- Hubert L. Payne, 83, of Pine View Road died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at Stephens County Hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Acree-Davis Funeral Home.

CORNELIA, Ga. -- Keith Griggs, 44, of Cornelia died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, at his home.

Lillie C. Stith

April 15, 1908 -- Nov. 12, 2004

LAVONIA, Ga. -- Lillie Cole Stith, 96, of 167 Rue Chalet died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, at Atria Assisted Living Center, Hartwell.

Born in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Sam Cole and Nancy Leatherwood Cole. She was employed in the public relations department of AT&T from 1930-1943. For 27 years until retirement she was co-owner and manager of J.G. Stith Jewelers of East Point, Ga. During her lifetime in East Point, she was active in the Pilot Club International and member of the Jefferson Ave. Baptist Church, where she was a choir member and Sunday school teacher. She retired to Lavonia and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lavonia.

Surviving are son, John G. Stith Jr. of Lavonia; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her sister, Pauline Ricci of Escalon, Calif. She was the widow of John G. Stith Sr.

Services are at 3 p.m. Sunday at Hamby Funeral Home by Dr. Larry Finger, and the Revs. Richard Bielski and Mike Smith; burial will be in the Franklin Memorial Gardens, North. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

The family will be at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, John and Chantal Stith, 136 Rue Cezzan, Lavonia.

Curtis Napier

TOCCOA, Ga. -- Curtis P. Napier, 63, of Defoor Road died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004 at Stephens County Hospital.

TOCCOA, Ga. -- Floyce Westmoreland Chambers, 79, of Falls Road died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, at Toccoa Nursing Center.

Irene J. Kincaid

Jan. 19, 1927 -- Nov. 13, 2004

TOCCOA, Ga. -- Lydia Irene Johnson Kincaid, 77, of 2454 E. Silver Shoals Road died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at Stephens County Hospital.

Born in Tulsa, Okla., she lived most of her life in California and for the past 11 years in Toccoa. She was a homemaker and a retired waitress.

Surviving are daughter, Diana Smith of Toccoa; brother, T.J. Johnson of Brawley, Calif.; sisters, Viola Compton of Wagner, Okla., Marie Kidd and Minnie Hodges, both of Tulsa, Okla. and Edna Rose of Seeley, Calif.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was the daughter of the late John Henry and Ida Rich Johnson.

Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Toccoa City cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home from noon until service time on Tuesday.

The family will be at the home on E. Silver Shoals Road, Toccoa.

COMMERCE, Ga. -- Joe Thomas Cleveland, 75, of 93 Orchard Circle died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, at BJC Hospital, Commerce.

Martha P. Hart

ELBERTON, Ga. -- Martha P. Hart, 71, of Elberton died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004.

A native of Elbert County, she was a homemaker.

Surviving are son, Dennis Hart of Iva; brother, Ken Porterfield of Benton, Ark.; and sisters, Virginia Grahma of Carlton, Hazel Bishop of Winterville and Onzetta McCannon of Comer.

She was the widow of Hoyt Hart and the daughter of the late Onnie and Frances Tiller Porterfield.

Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home Chapel by the Revs. Ken Whitt and Martha Guest; burial will be in the Carlton cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

The family is at home of Onzetta McCannon, 2155 Maple St., Comer, and will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Tom G. Lilly

Nov. 23, 1928 -- Nov. 14, 2004

LAVONIA, Ga. -- Tom G. Lilly, 75, of 123 Gilmer St. died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, at his home.

Born in Foard County, Texas, he was a retired self-employed dry wall contractor, a Mason and a Shriner, member of the Dixie Yellow Rockers Square Dance Club and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are widow, Flora Lu Saylor Lilly of the home; daughters, Sharon Philpot of Lavonia, Crystal Troxler of Squim, Wash., and Linda Romero of Colorado Springs; sons, Jerry Lilly of Colorado Springs and Dewayne Deaver of Salmon, Ind.; sister, Venita Stark of Weatherford, Texas; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was the son of the late John Pickens Lilly and Lillian Beatrice Ivester Lilly. He was preceded in death by a brother, J.P. Lilly, and a sister, Alice Mead Shelby.

Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hamby Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Richard Bielski; burial will be in the Franklin Memorial Gardens-North. The body is at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.

Veldia Howell

HARTWELL, Ga. -- Veldia Laurine Blackburn Howell, 78, of the Hart Care Center died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at Hart County Hospital.

Born in Banks County, she was a homemaker and of the Holiness faith.

Surviving are sons, Roy Howell of Lavonia and Wendell Howell of Monroe; daughters, Rev. Bonnie Cowart of Royston and Janice Disbennett of Tennessee; brothers, Marion Blackburn of Moultrie and J.W. Blackburn of Cairo; sister, Lutrell Burgess of Atlanta; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was the widow of Roy Howell and the daughter of the late Shirley and Sarah Ethel Whistel Blackburn.

Services are at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel, Royston, by the Revs. Bonnie Cowart and Kathy Wood; burial will follow in the Bold Springs U.M.C. cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.

The family is at the home of Stephanie Brooks, 1640 Memorial Road, Hartwell, Ga. 30643.

William Eby

Dec. 7, 1942 -- Nov. 14, 2004

TOCCOA, Ga. -- William Richard Eby, 61, of Beechwood Blvd. died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, at Hill Haven Nursing Home in Commerce.

Born in Wadsworth, Ohio, he was a self-employed truck driver and a member of Grace Baptist Church.

Surviving are widow, Sylvia Bell Eby of Toccoa; son, Christopher Eby of Toccoa; daughter, Deidre Kesler of Winder; brothers, David Eby of Toccoa and Clifford Eby of California; and two grandchildren.

He was the son of the late William R. and Hilda Webber Eby.

Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Whitlock Mortuary by the Rev. Joel Bradberry; private burial will be at a later date at Roselane cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

The family is at the home and will receive friends at the mortuary from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.

BRENDA P. NICHOLSON

CARNESVILLE, GA. -- Brenda Ann Payne Nicholson, 61, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at Emory Crawford W. Long Hospital in Atlanta.

Born on May 17, 1943, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Floy Parham Payne and Julius William Payne. She was a graduate of Franklin County High School, received a B.S. Degree in biology from Georgia College in Milledgeville and did graduate study at Grady Hospital in Atlanta. She was a medical technologist with the Veterans Administration Hospital, the Center for Disease Control and Emory Hospital in Atlanta until her retirement. She was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church.

Surviving are widower, Raymond Nicholson of Port St. Lucie; her twin brother, Blanton William Payne of Carnesville; sisters, Wylette Payne Moody of Stone Mountain, and Betty Payne LeCroy and Carolyn Payne McCall, both of Carnesville.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Cross Roads Baptist Church, Carnesville by the Rev. Grady Jordan.

The family will be at the home of Carolyn and Delta McCall in Carnesville.

Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville is in charge of arrangements.
