DEMOREST, Ga. -- Carolyn Bernice Chambers Crane, 66 of Demorest, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004.

Born in Habersham County on April 14, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Nora McIntyre Chambers. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nellar Holcomb and one grandson, William Stephens. She was a member of Fairfield Baptist Church.

Surviving are widower, William "Joe" Crane of Demorest; daughters, Sheila Partin of Cleveland, Rhonda Brookshire of Demorest, Lisa Whitlock of Gillsville and Ashli Crane of Demorest; sons, Ricky Jones of Demorest, Jeff Crane of Cornelia, Casey Jones of Cornelia and Tim Crane of Eastanollee; sisters, Ruth Fortenberry, Mary Willow Hood and Marie Dillard, all of Demorest, Blanche Carpenter of Augusta and Evelyn Wilson of Belmont, N.C.; brothers, Haskel Chambers and Orem Chambers, both of Cleveland; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home; burial will be in Fairfield Baptist Church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery by the Revs. Keith Allison and Paris Whitworth. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The family will be at the home.

FLOY HALL

ROYSTON, Ga. -- Floy Bennett Bryant Hall, 82, of 401 Dovetown Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at the Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston.

Born in Franklin County on June 6, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Glenn Lamar and Lelia Pierce Bennett. She was a homemaker and a member of the Canon Baptist Church. She was twice married, first to the late Julian Bryant and second to Pierce W. Hall of Royston.

Survivors include in addition to her husband: her son, Bobby M. Bryant of Flowery Branch; daughters, Margaret Waits of Sylvania, Marsha Willis of Doraville and Margie Frances of Laport, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pruitt Funeral Home chapel, Royston; burial will be in Oakview cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery in Canon. The body is at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

The family will be at their respective homes.

GATHA WILSON

CARNESVILLE, Ga. -- Gatha Belle Canady Wilson, 92,of Ellenwood, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at the Henry Medical Center in Stockbridge.

Born on Nov. 25, 1912, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late George and Margaret Josephine Morgan Canady. She was the widow of James Thomas Wilson and the mother of the late James Bobby Wilson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was the sister of the late Nellie B. Fulbright, Reba Kackley, Gertrude Clardy, Rilla Whiten, Edwin Canady, George "Bill" Canady, Jim Canady, Luke Canady, Lawrence Canady and Johnny Canady. She was a homemaker and a member of the Hunter's Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughters, Betty Spurlock of Morrow, and Margaret J. Wilson of Stockbridge; son, George Leo Wilson of Rex; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hunter's Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Jack Wilson; burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery. The body is at Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

The family will be at their respective homes.

HENRY MOON

TOCCOA, Ga. -- John Henry Moon Sr., 85,of 224 E. Franklin St., died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at the B.J.C. Medical Center in Commerce.

He was the son of the late George Henry and Mattie Lou Yeargin Moon. He was born Dec. 25, 1918 in Elbert County and had lived most of his life in Stephens County. He was retired from LeTourneau -- WABCO after 40 years of service. He served in the C.C. Camp, attended Toccoa Falls Training Program and attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Dorsey Moon, Aubrey Moon, Phillip Moon and J.E. Moon; and by two sisters, Addy Stone and Corine Kinard.

Surviving are widow, Jenelle Willis Moon of the home; stepmother, Velma Moon of Greenwood, S.C.; sons, John H. "Johnny" Moon Jr. of Clarkesville, George Thomas "Tommy" Moon of Flowery Branch, David Barry Moon of Toccoa and Joel Robert "Robby" Moon of Commerce; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Slay and Lou Yeargin, both of Elberton and Ruth Raborn of Augusta, Ga.; and stepsisters, Sally Alexander and Louise Raborn, both of Greenwood.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home by the Rev. Don Scott and Mr. Leon Gathany; burial will be in the Toccoa City cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Barry Moon, 7250 DeFoor Road, Toccoa.

SARAH FRANCIS JACKSON HAMPTON

LAVONIA, Ga. -- Sarah Francis Jackson Hampton, 86, of Brown Memorial Convalescent Center, Royston, formerly of 240 Myrtle St., died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Elbert Memorial Hospital, Elberton.

Born on June 28, 1918 in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late James Burton and Ida Wansley Jackson. She was a homemaker and member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Lavonia.

Surviving are daughter, Francis Land of High Point, N.C.; brothers, James Almond Jackson of Lavonia and Charles Ned Jackson of Mountain Home, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.

She was the widow of Ernest Ray Hampton.

Services are at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hamby Funeral Home chapel, Lavonia by the Revs. John Ashworth and Ed Floyd. Interment services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Floral Garden Memorial Park in High Point, N.C. The body is at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

The family is at the home of Almond and Mary Jackson, 240 Myrtle St., Lavonia.

ANNIE IVESTER

CLARKESVILLE, GA. -- Annie Jean Lewis Ivester, 84, of Clarkesville died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Athens Regional Medical Center.

Born in Macon County, N.C., she was a homemaker and a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Diane Ivester of Gainesville; sons, Jerry Hunnicutt of Athens and Larry Hunnicutt of Marietta; brother, William Lewis of Johnson City, Texas; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was the widow of Archie Ivester and the daughter of the late Rass and Ilona Moffitt Lewis. She was first married to the late Gordon Hunnicutt. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Wilkes.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Hollywood with the Rev. Tony Kemp officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery. Hillside Memorial Chapel, Clarkesville, is the charge of arrangements.

MARY BOB ACREE HOBGOOD

TOCCOA, GA. -- Mary Bob Acree Hobgood, 80, of 441 N. Boulevard died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at the Stephens County Hospital in Toccoa.

A daughter of the late Robert Walter and Sadie Isbell Acree, she was born January 11, 1924, in Stephens County where she lived all of her life. She graduated from Toccoa High School, Brenau College in Gainesville and from the Atlanta Real Estate School. She was the first woman to receive her real estate license in Toccoa/Stephens County as well as the first woman real estate sales person in Toccoa. She worked for Wallace Martin Real Estate and Martin Lumber Co. for a number of years, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Toccoa, past president of WMU and The Ruth Cline Circle. She was the first woman president of the Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce. She served on the Salvation Army board of directors, The Brenau College National Alumni Association, The Board of Trustees at Brenau College, member of the Toccoa Cotillion Club, was the president and owner of Bo-Mar Realty Co. Inc., charter member of The Toccoa-Stephens County "2000" Committee for Development, member of the Jr. Woman's Club, The XYZ Church Luncheon Group for retired Persons, UDC, DAR, Delta Delta Delta National Sorority, former Pink Lady of Stephens County Hospital, member of the American Legion Auxiliary, former secretary of The Acree-Oil Company, corporate secretary of The Toccoa Tire and Recapping Co. Inc. and vice-president of The Modern Tire Co. in Hartwell. She was recognized last year by the Toccoa Cotillion Club as a 55 year member, and also last year recognized as a life member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board. She was preceded in death by her husband, Noel Hayes "Hob" Hobgood Jr.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary Evans Hobgood Bannister of Lawrenceville; son, Robert Noel Hobgood of Toccoa; one grandson; and her brother, Richard Acree of Toccoa.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Toccoa by the Revs. Dr. Jim Nelson and David Turner; burial will be in the Toccoa City cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery by the Revs. Jerrell Beatty and Dr. Tim Miller in charge of graveside services. The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Hobgood, 179 Hillandale St., Toccoa, and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home, Toccoa, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Flowers are optional and those wishing may give memorials to the First Baptist Baptist Church General Fund, 601 Tugalo St. Toccoa, Ga. 30577, in memory of Mrs. Mary Bob Acree Hobgood.

PATSY 'PAT" LAVERNE O'KELLEY

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. -- Patsy "Pat" Laverne O'Kelley, 59, of 548 Springdale Drive died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at the University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.

Surviving are her widower, Billy Ray O'Kelley of the home; daughter, Cindy Badgley of Dawsonville; his mother, Katherine Louise Garmon Lewis; brothers, Larry Cates and Charles Cates, both of Dawsonvile, and Paul Cates of Cumming; sisters, Brenda Cates of Cumming, Sherry Graham and Gail Genson, both of Covington, and Jackie Hare of Canton; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert L. Cates; one sister, Carolyn Saffles; and four sons, Ronnie, Donnie, Johnny and Shawn Geirrein.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce by the Rev. T. Gary Thompson; burial will be in the Royston City cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

DIANE MURRAY

TOCCOA, Ga. - Diane Cleveland Murray, 46, of Highway 106, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at her residence.

She was the daughter of the late Virginia Janie Carter Cleveland. She was born on Oct. 5, 1958 in Stephens County where she had lived all of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Carnes Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by one sister, Janice Meeks.

Surviving are her father, Virgil C. Cleveland of Toccoa; her widower, Samuel Murray of the home; son, Clinton Murray of Eastanollee; two grandchildren; a brother, Bruce Cleveland of Toccoa; and his sisters, Becky Dyer of Toccoa, Carol Haglund of Peachtree City and Joyce Krisko of Peru, Ind.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home by the Rev. Dr. Tim Miller and the Rev. Brad Crowe; burial will be in Carnes Creek Baptist Church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery. The family is at the home of her father, Virgil C. Cleveland, 1194 Mayes Road, Toccoa and will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

FRANK "F.C" JONES

HARTWELL, Ga. - Frank Cleo Jones, 66,of 1676 Jones Road, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Hart County Hospital.

Born in Hart County, he was the son of the late Hollis C. Jones and Mattie Nell Evans Jones. He was retired from Appleton Mills and was an U.S. Air Force veteran.

Surviving are sons, Frank Richard Jones and Kenneth Lee Jones, both of Rockwell, N.C. and Michael Curtis Jones and Daryle Wesley Jones, both of Starr, S.C.; daughters, Jewelyn Marie Carver of Starr, S.C. and Tina Marie Simpson and Leslie Danielle Boan, both of Rockwell, N.C.; brothers, Talmadge Jones and Roy Jones, both of Hartwell, T.J. Jones of Starr, S.C., Bill Jones of Iron Station, N.C., Robert Jones of Hartwell and John Henry Jones of Anderson; sisters, Mary Grace Vaughn, Ruby Donald, Sarah Jane Jennings and Susie Vann Fossen, all of Hartwell; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Martha Inez Jones.

The body will be cremated. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home by the Rev. Johnny Stowe. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.

JAMES CLIFTON STEWART JR. (JIMMY)

April 1, 1969 - February 1, 2005

SUWANNEE, GA - Jimmy Stewart, age 35, of Suwannee, Georgia, passed away Tuesday afternoon at the Gwinnett Medical Center in Atlanta. He was born in Anderson, S.C. He is survived by his special friend and long time companion, Victor Vinson, at home; brothers, Robin Westhead of Douglasville, Ga, Randall and Kim Westhead, both of Anderson, S.C.; and a sister, Joyce Stewart of Inman, S.C. He leaves behind many neices and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his Parents, James Clifton Stewart Sr. and Mary Patterson Westhead Stewart, and older brother, Fred Westhead of Uniontown, Pa.

A covered dish Memorial Service will be held Sunday, Feb.6, 2005 at the New Life Christian Center on Pearman Dairy Rd. (28 By-Pass) in Anderson S.C.

In lieu of flowers, Donations can be made to the National Aids Foundation or a Charity of Ones Choice.

CHARLES REED STRICKLAND

EASTANOLLEE, GA. -- Charles Reed Strickland, 91, of Ga. 2 died Friday, March 18, 2005, at Stephens County Hospital.

Born on March 19, 1913, in Franklin County, he was a son of the late James Epp and Beulah Starrett Strickland. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran and fought in the Pacific. He was retired from Coats & Clark and was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his widow, Jeanette Tyner Strickland of the home; daughter, Dianne Aaron of Neese; sons, Charles D. Strickland of Lavonia, Jack T. Strickland of Neese, Robert Allen Strickland and Styles R. Strickland, both of Toccoa, and Joe E. Strickland of Martin; brother, Mason Strickland of Gastonia, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, William David Strickland; one brother, Ben Cohen Strickland; and one sister, Bonnie Floy Strickland Smith

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Whitlock Mortuary by the Rev. Jerry Stowe officiating. Burial will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens.

The family is at the home on Sorrells Road and will receive friends at the mortuary from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

JOE L. HARRIS

JEFFERSON, GA -- Mr. Joe L. Harris, 89, of Brockton Loop, Jefferson, GA, died Thursday, March 17, 2005. He was born in Jackson County and lived all of his life in Jackson County. Mr. Harris was the son of the late Mr. James L. Harris and the late Mrs. Clara Pittman Harris. He was a retired farmer, and a devoted Daddy and Paw-Paw. Mr. Harris was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and Unity Lodge #36-F+AM. His wife, the late Mrs. Inez Walker Harris and one great grandchild preceded him in death.

The family received friends at Evans Funeral Home Friday, March 18, 2005 from 7:00 until 9:00pm. The funeral services will be held in Bethany United Methodist Church Saturday, March 19 at 2:00pm with the Rev. Hulon Hill, the Rev. Jesse Mealor and the Rev. Johnny Ray officiating. Serving as pallbearers are: Wayne Harris, Tim Rogers, Phillip Rogers, Daniel Harris, Andrew Minish, and Brad Hewell. Interment will follow in the Bethany United Methodist Church cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Harris is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, James P. and Linda Harris, and Robert W. and Betty Harris, all of Jefferson, and Charles L. and Janie Harris of Anderson, SC; a daughter and son-in-law, Lenora and Jack Rogers of Bogart; a sister, Clara Lou Wilson of Jefferson; a sister-in-law, Anna Lou Harris of Jefferson; nine grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.

MARCELLE DORSEY

MARIETTA, GA. -- Marcelle Dorsey, 63, of Marietta died Friday, March 18, 2005, at her home.

Born in Banks County on Dec. 28, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Howard Dorsey and Lucille Hart Dorsey Ferguson. She was a customer service representative with Hamby Alosio Insurance Agency. She was of the Church of God faith. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Jace Ferguson.

Survivors include her sister, Linda Penfield of Canton; and her niece.

Funeral services are 4 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, by the Rev. Ed Towers officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Baptist Church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

PEARL SKELTON SHORE STEPHENS

STOCKBRIDGE, GA. -- Pearl Skelton Shore Stephens, 95 of Stockbridge, formerly of Cornelia, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at a private healthcare facility.

Born in White County on June 30, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Anna Dorsey Skelton. She worked at Chicopee Manufacturing and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She also attended Lighthouse Community Baptist Church in Stockbridge.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lake Shore; second husband, Louie Stephens; and a sister, Mamie Truelove.

Survivors include her sons, Warren Shore of Stockbridge and Jerome Shore of Smyrna; and one granddaughter.

Funeral services are 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, by the Revs. Jeff McBurnett and Verner London officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.
