Russell Lowell Harden
Russell Lowell Harden, 66, of Eatonton, was called home to his eternal rest, Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, at North Side Hospital in Macon.
He was the husband Christeen Harden of Eatonton.
Mr. Harden was born June 2, 1944, in Eatonton. He was the son of the late Paul Willie Evans and Addie J. Harden Reese.
He received his education in the Putnam County School System and was a member of Bells Chapel Baptist Church.
“Cutt” as he was known by family and friends worked as a dairyman for 49½ years for Copelan’s Dairy.
On Aug. 29, 2002, he gave his heart, mind, body and soul to Christeen Wesley. They were happily married for eight years.
Mr. Harden was a wonderful man who loved to have fun, whether sitting on his front porch, going fishing or just hanging out with his friends and many loved ones.
Besides his wife, those left to cherish his memory are three children: Sharon Monday, James Monday and Cherri (Benjamin) Little; step-parents, Bertha Mae Evans and Joseph Reese Sr.; mother-in-law Lucille Dawson; six brothers, Joseph Reese Jr., Michael Reese, Joe Willie Evans, Tommy Lee Evans, James Daniel Evans and Johnny Mack (Martha) Evans; eight sisters, Julia (Joe) Bynes, Elaine (Sidney) Nelson, Stella (James) Brown, Patricia (Raymond) Macon, Aretha (Sylvester) Wimberly, Rosie Evans, Annie (Willie) Reid, and Theresa (James) Trippe; an aunt, Rosa Mae Dawson; a brother-in-law, Anthony Wesley; two sisters-in-law, Josephine Wesley and Lucille Reese; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Roger Bustion, William Reese and Johnny Reese, and a sister, Lizzie B. Smith.
The family will receive family and friends on from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bells Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gregory Ellison Officiating. Burial will be in Bells Chapel cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers and nieces will serve as flower attendants.
A repast will be held at the American Legion Post No. 583.

Sidney Lee Reid
Sidney Lee Reid, 83, of Atlanta, a native of Eatonton, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2010.
He was the husband of the late Bessie Mae Reid.
Mr. Reid was born April 10, 1927, to the late Marshall and Madie Lee Reid.
He moved to Atlanta in 1953. He was employed by Harry White Ford. He was the self-proclaimed brother of the late Jimmy Reed, and he will be remembered for singing and playing the guitar and harmonica to songs such as “Bright Lights,” “Big City,” “Big Boss Man,” and “Honest I Do,” just to name a few.
He will truly be missed by his daughter, Betty Ann (Lee) Leonard; sons Jimmy Minniefield and Sidney Lee Reid Jr.; grandchildren, Dee Dee (Gary) Leonard, Samuel Leonard III, Maurice Marsh, Temeka Reid-Price, Eurea (Gwen) Pennyman and Michael Marshall Reid; and a host of great-grandchildren, cousins,nieces and nephews.
Mr. Reid was also preceeded in death by three sons, Marshall Lee Reid, Haywood Lee Reid and Terry Anthony Reid; a daughter, Delores Ann Reid; and sisters, Oris Reid Daniels, Frances Dunn and Lizzie Reid Lawson.
The funeral service was held Thursday, Sept. 9, at Hines Memorial Chapel in Atlanta. Burial was in Lincoln cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery in Atlanta. The Rev. Michelle Gilford officiated.

Dr. James Luther Clements Jr.
Dr. James Luther “Luke” Clements Jr. of Eatonton passed away Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, in his hometown.
He was the husband of the late Margaret Clements.
Dr. Clements had moved back to Eatonton from Atlanta upon his retirement to live in his grandparents’ home, a house that held so many happy memories for him. He was an eighth generation Eatonton, Putnam County, Georgia, native. He was the son of the late James Luther and Rosa Kate Lewis Clements, and the grandson of the late Arthur Littleberry and Mary Eliza (“Miss Mae”) Knight Clements and the late William Edgar and Lovely Annie McLeroy Lewis.
Dr. Clements graduated from Putnam County High school in 1941, attended Emory at Oxford and then graduated from Emory University School of Medicine in 1947. He completed his medical internship at Roper Hospital in Charleston, S.C., where he met his future wife Margaret, a pediatric nurse. During the Korean Conflict, he served as a U.S. Navy Lieutenant on the hospital ship USS Consolation, which later became the SS Hope.
Elected to the Alpa Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in 1984, Dr. Clements was also a past-president of the Atlanta Radiological Society and the Georgia Radiological Society. During his 43-year tenure on the faculty at Emory University Medical School, He published more than 40 articles in national and international medical journals, contributed to 12 chapters in medical textbooks and presented more than 30 papers at national and state medical meetings. He had many professional appointments, professional society memberships, accomplishments, honors and awards, too many to list in full.
Dr. Clements was a Fellow Emeritus of the American College of Radiology and a Professor Emeritus of the Emory University School of Medicine. He was honored by the creation of the annual “J. Luther Clements Lecture” at Emory University, now in its 19th year.
Dr. Clements was most recently honored in June 2005 with the most prestigious recognition ever given to a radiologist in the state of Georgia, the “Gold Medal Award” of the Georgia Radiological Society. He was the first recipient for this award to be presented to the radiologist who is considered to be the most influential in contributions to the practice of radiology in Georgia.
Dr. Clements was also greatly appreciated and admired by his radiology residents as well as his colleagues. He was voted Teacher of the Year by his radiology residents so many times the award was finally named after him. The next year the Emory Surgery residents voted him Teacher of the Year, which almost always is awarded to a Professor of Surgery.
He is survived by his daughter Julia Anne, and many loving friends and colleagues. Besides his wife, Dr. Clements was preceded in death by two sons, Arthur Lewis Clements and Ashley Howard Clements.
A celebration of Dr. Clements’ life was held Saturday at Williams Funeral Home of Eatonton, which was in charge of arrangements.

Emily Moncrief Roberts
Emily Moncrief Roberts, 86, of Eatonton passed away Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010.
She was the wife of the late Robinson Roberts.
Mrs. Roberts was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Robinson-Dance Sunday School Class, Phoenix Homemakers Club and the Pink Ladies of Putnam General Hospital.
Mrs. Roberts is survived by a daughter, Latain (Tom) Lozano; a stepdaughter, Sandra Hill; grandsons, Thomas Lozano, Jeff Lozano, Stacy (Misty) Roberts and Dean (Laura) Roberts; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Robbie Roberts.
Visitation was held Sunday at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton. The funeral service was held Monday at First United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Eatonton Memorial Park.

Mary Poole
Mary Poole, 86, of Eatonton passed away Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at her residence.
She was the wife of the late Donald Poole.
She was the daughter of the late Wiley and Maggie Roberts.
Mrs. Poole was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 6686.
Survivors include, two sisters: Barbara Fuller of Eatonton and Lilouise Mitchell of Jonesboro; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Kenyan, Luther and Calvin Roberts; and a sister, Martha Knowles.
A graveside service was held Friday at Eatonton Memorial Park

Evelyn Marshall
Evelyn Marshall, 72, of Eatonton, passed away Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at her residence.
She was the wife of Warren “Monty” Marshall of Eatonton, to whom she was married for 54 years.
She was the daughter of the late Walter Terrell Maddox and Lilly Bernice Townsend Maddox.
Mrs. Marshall was a secretary for the Putnam County Elementary School for 28 years. She was member of the Philadelphia Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and a pianist.
Other survivors include, two sons: Warren M. Marshall Jr. and Kenneth Terrell Marshall; three sisters: Doris Maddox Shupe, Sandra M. Barr and Linda Maddox Selby, all of Eatonton; Six grandchildren: Ewren D. Marshall, Anslee K. Bivins, Warren M. “Trey” Marshall III, Bradley Tess Marshall, Nathan Terrell Marshall and Brandon Lanier Marshall; a step-grandchild, BJ Brookins; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen M. Williams.
The funeral service was held Tuesday morning at Philadelphia Methodist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Randy Hughlon Lankford 45, of Eatonton passed away at a local hospital on Thursday, June 2, 2011. Visitation was Saturday, June 4, at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel. The service was Sunday, June 5, at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel. Randy is survived by his son Christopher Brett Lankford; mother Linda Wood (Bobby); sister Pam Davis (Kevin); aunt and uncle Janet and Jim Lankford Batchelor; cousins Jason and Dawn Batchelor; step mom Lynn Lankford; step sister Terri Smith; stepchildren, Bobbie Collis, Jessica and Brent McKee; Step grandchildren, Little T and Mak.
Also survived by his faithful best friend and companion Dana Holder Holloway.

Annette Marie Witmore
Annette Marie Witmore, 40, of Milledgeville passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 6, 2011, at a Macon Hospital.
She is survived by her husband John Witmore, a son Dalton Witmore, of Milledgeville; a son Matthew Ponder Warner of California; and her mother Susan Granger Ponder of California.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Louis J. Passarella Sr.
Louis Joseph Passarella Sr., 82, of Buckhead, died Friday, June 3, 2011, at Saint Joseph's East Georgia Hospital in Greensboro. Born on May 16, 1929 in Melrose Park, Ill., he was the son of the late Rocco Passarella and Alma Boldt Passarella. He attended St. Paul Lutheran School, graduated from Proviso High School in Maywood, Ill., and attended Northwestern University. He married Dorothy Schermeister on Aug. 26, 1950, in Eureka, Ill., and worked as a sporting goods buyer for Sears and Roebuck. They lived in Buckhead for the past 10 years after moving from Atlanta following his retirement. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald J. Passarella; two brothers, Carl Passarella and Rocco Passarella; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Passarella.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Dorothy L. Schermeister Passarella; two daughters, Liz Roberts of Buckhead, and Susan Shearouse and husband Donald of Cumming; four sons, Louis J. Passarella Jr. and wife Kathy of Buckhead, Lawrence H. Passarella and wife Cheryl of Atlanta, John R. Passarella and wife Deborah of Statham, Kenneth C. Passarella and wife Jill of Ft. Myers, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Sara Passarella of Atlanta; sister-in-law, Rose Passarella of Las Vegas, Nev.; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Johnny Lee Andrews
Mr. Johnny Lee Andrews of 126 Hitchcock Lane, Eatonton, departed this life Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Putnam General Hospital.
Mr. Andrews was born on October 26, 1939, to the late Mr. Willie James Andrews and the late Mrs. Minnie Lee Andrews in Eatonton. He attended Butler Baker School where he excelled in mathematics.
Johnny moved to Atlanta with his young family in 1961 and worked in manufacturing until relocating to Long Beach, California, in 1972 where he eventually started his own company, Four Sisters Cleaning Service. Johnny was a strong advocate for personal fitness and took daily long walks for regular exercise. He would be the first, however, to admit to a sweet tooth! His love for the Lord was strengthened in adulthood with him taking an active role in Miracle Tabernacle Church of Long Beach, attaining the role of deacon.
Johnny Lee returned home to Eatonton to live in 2004.
On Saturday evening, June 4, 2011, Johnny Lee was called Home.
Johnny Lee leaves to cherish his memories: daughters, Janette Andrews, M.D. of Centennial, Colorado; Muriel Celestine Andrews of Centennial, Colorado; Mrs. Lolita Crim (Walter Crim) of Long Beach, Calif.; Bernadette Carter of Long Beach, and Shaneka Miller of Long Beach; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; siblings, Mr. Willie James Andrews Jr. of Atlanta, Mrs. Fannie Lou Grimes of Fresno, Calif., and Mrs. Bessie Smith of Eatonton; aunt, C.W. James aka Aunt Kidd, a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and close friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 8, at Saint Paul A.M.E. Church, Eatonton, with Rev. Faye Shannon, Pastor, officiating, Rev. Horace G. Banks, Eulogist. Burial followed in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.
