Gloria Mae Jackson

Gloria Mae Jackson of 303 Putnam Avenue Eatonton, departed this life Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Eatonton Health and Rehabilitation Center in Eatonton.
Sister Jackson, also known as "Mookie" or "Sister Jack", was born November 15, 1942, to Martha Jackson and nurtured by grandparents, Georgia and Will Henry Jackson, who all preceded her in death.
Gloria attended Reid's Chapel School and later graduated from Butler Baker High School in 1960.
"Sister Jack" was a member of Jefferson Baptist Church, where she served faithfully with the Sunbeam Choir, Usher Board, and the Senior Choir. In 2002, she united with Life Line Bible Church, where she continued her service for Christ. At Life Line Church she served as Financial and Pastoral Secretary.
She leaves to cherish her memories, brothers, Thomas (Callie) Jackson of Atlanta, Hulon (Annie Mae) Burke, Milton (Dorothy) Burke, Willie (Eunice) Burke all of Eatonton; sisters, Belinda (Roger) Lamar, Veronica (Phillip) Crawford and Linda (Willie) Adams; aunts, uncles, cousins, a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Union Baptist Church, 240 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Eatonton with Elder Jesse Porter, an Pastor Ozzie Hanson Sr., officiating. Burial followed in the Jefferson Baptist Church cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.
Bernard's Family Funeral Care, LLC, 103 Willie Bailey Street, Eatonton, had charge of the arrangements.

Varue W. Oishei

Varue Whitten Oishei, 83, passed quietly at home, April 14, 2011. Daughter of Grace Evans and Charles A. Whitten, Varue returned to Great Waters in Eatonton to spend her last years in Putnam County, where her father's family has roots stretching back many generations. Born in Mobile, Ala., educated at Sophie Newcomb College (Tulane University), Varue married shortly after World War II and spent much of her life in Buffalo, N.Y. Her love of fine art led to an association with Buffalo's Albright Knox Art Gallery and later took her to New York City, where she lived for a decade as Soho became the rising center of modern art. Following the death of her second husband, Julian R. Oishei of Trico Products Corp. in Buffalo, Varue traveled to France and lived in Paris and Provence. There she formed a long-term relationship with Charles Dreyfus of Geneva, Switzerland, moving to Switzerland for a time before returning to the U.S. Varue's life was marked by a love of beauty and by generosity and kindness to all those around her.
Varue is survived by Mr. Dreyfus; her brothers residing in Georgia, Richard D'Armour Whitten and Francois "Buddy" Whitten; sons Richard E. Henrich Jr and John R. Oishei II; and grandchildren Evan Henrich, Caden Henrich and Lyndsey Darrow.
A private funeral was held in Buffalo, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders and the ASPCA.

Roy Lee Vining Jr.

Roy Lee Vining Jr. 86, of Eatonton passed away, on Friday, May 6, 2011, at a local hospital. Visitation was Monday evening and the service was Tuesday, May 10, at First United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. in the Historical Sanctuary. Mr. Vining lived in Eatonton all his life, and he was a member of First United Methodist Church, Al Sihah Shrine and Rising Star Lodge # 4.
Mr. Vining was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Allene Clyborne Vining, his parents Roy Lee Vining Sr. and Ruby Lee Whitten Vining. He was also preceded in death by his brother William Vining and sisters Lola Pope and Bert Welch.
Mr. Vining is survived by his children: Roger Vining and wife Jeanne, Lesia Reid and husband Steve, and Jennifer Vining. Grandchildren: Rodney Vining and wife Candy, Eric Reid, Jeremy Vining, Matthew Reid and Kristen Reid; great-grandchildren: Rory and Emmett Vining. brother Hugh Vining and wife Barbara; sisters: Jennie Schuman and Polly Parham and husband Joe.
Donations can be made to Union Chapel Church or the Masonic Children's Home of Georgia in his memory.
Vining Ivy Hill Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

Rudolph Waller Jr.

Mr. Rudolph Waller Jr., 53, 114 Gholston Lane, departed this life Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Oconee Regional Medical Center, Milledgeville, GA after an extended illness.
Mr. Waller was born July 25, 1957, in Eatonton to the parentage of Ms. Johnnie P. Waller and the late Mr. Rudolph Waller Sr. He received his education in the Putnam County School system.
Prior to becoming disabled, he was employed by the Wellington Puritan Company. Rudolph was an active man enjoying both fishing and hunting. He loved being surrounded by his family and friends, and he especially adored his grandchildren.
Rudolph was preceded in death by his father, Rudolph, Sr., a sister, Clara Ann Waller, and a brother, Anthony Waller.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted friend, Linda Rivers; son, Tilmon Waller of Eatonton; five daughters, Alvina Christian of Clayton County, Stacy Richardson (Larry), Tywanda Dorsey (Don) of Eatonton, Cassandra Hurt of Buckhead, and Erika Hurt of Milledgeville; mother, Johnnie P. Waller of Eatonton; brothers, Kenney Waller of Conyers, Alonza, Curtis, James, and Stanley all of Eatonton, Ernest Scott (Mary) of Clayton County, Larry Coats of Macon, Terry Scott of Eatonton, and Jerome Waller of Clarksville, Tenn.; sisters: Shirley Clements of Atlanta; Virginia Jordan and Tereasa Waller-Stephens of Eatonton; 16 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held Saturday May 7, 2011, at Greater Jefferson Friendship Baptist Church, MLK, Jr. Drive. Rev. Scales, Pastor, officiated.

Roy Bryan Jones

Roy Bryan Jones of Eatonton died May 4, 2011.He was born on December 22, 1972. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Jones and Marene Bramlett and his children Kyle Jones, Jessica Jones and Christopher Bryan Jones; his brother and sisters; Paula Jones, Terri Ford (Bill Ford), Tracie Taylor, Sheila Jones Davis, Terri Weaver, Christie Turner, Ray Turner, Cindi Miller and Tony Toskes. He was also survived by his "bestest friend and girlfriend" Beverly Davis, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Bryan was a devoted father, loyal son and a beloved friend to all that knew him. He dedicated his life to providing for his children and serving and protecting the community where he lived. Bryan served our nation for four years in the Air Force. Through his decision to become a firefighter and paramedic he had found great purpose and joy in his life. He loved his children and job deeply because God created him for these callings. He worked at the Putnam County EMS Service and Henry County Fire Dept., Station #1. He will be missed by many co-workers that have showered their love and support to his family in countless ways.
Bryan always had a smile or joke to share with anyone that knew him and it was widely known that he would "give you the shirt off his back" if he thought you needed it. The services that honored his life were held on May 9, 2011, at Rock Eagle Auditorium and civil servants from all over Georgia were there to honor their fallen brother. Bryan dedicated his life to saving lives and even after his death he is still saving lives through his choice to be an organ donor. The family would like to thank everyone for their support and love shown to us during our loss but we would like to especially thank his brotherhood of firefighters and EMS workers that honored our beloved Bryan the way he deserved.

Ada Elizabeth Turk

Ada Elizabeth Turk, 94, passed away at her home on Sunday, May 8, 2011. Born on July 25, 1916, in Putnam County, Ada was the daughter of the late Earnest Lynwood and Georgia Walker Linch.
She grew up in the Union Chapel community of Putnam County and attended Union School. She graduated from Eatonton High School in 1934. In 1936, she married the late J.D. Turk, Sr. and was blessed with five children. They lived most of their life in Putnam County. Ada devoted her life to her family, helping her husband run a dairy farm. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, reading, and most of all her family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend. Ada was a life-long member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church. Her faith, friendship, and love were an inspiration to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her grandsons, Tony Turk and Dale Ward. She is survived by her children: Carol T Ward of Madison; Dallas Turk and wife, Sandra; Earnest Turk and wife, Dixie; Elaine T. Uhler and husband, Steve; all of Eatonton, Barbara Turk of Milledgeville; Grandchildren: Ray Ward and wife, Sandra; Alan Ward and wife Mikki; Rodney Turk; Brandy T. Huskins and husband, Chris; Rachel T Lewis and husband, Jeffrey; Marie and Maggie Uhler; 10 great-grandchildren and two great- great-grand children.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to: Union Chapel United Methodist Church, C/O 119 Grimes Road, NE, Milledgeville, GA 31061.
Services were held Wednesday, May 11, at Union Chapel United Methodist Church, with burial at Eatonton Memorial Park. Visitation washeld Tuesday, May 10, at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel.

Mary M. Griffith

Mary M. Griffith, 75, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2011. There was a service at the First Independent Methodist Church on Tuesday, May 10.
Mary is survived by a brother George Griffith; a sister Nancy Green; and several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and great nieces and nephews.

Alma Holsenbeck

Mrs. Alma Callaway Holsenbeck, 97, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2011. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, May 11, in the Williams Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jerry Pickard officiating. Interment followed in Memory Hill cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.
Mrs. Holsenbeck was a life-long resident of Baldwin County. She was the daughter of the late William L. And Sally Lingold Callaway and the widow of the late Paul M. Holsenbeck. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son William M. "Bill" Holsenbeck and wife Jackie; grandchildren Sarah Saunders (Richard), Dr. Brenda Manley (Greg), Ruthie Norman (Mike), Rob Morris, Michele Demmon and Dr. Holley Roberts (Cliff) 13 great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.

Anne Perreyclear

Anne Perreyclear, age 57, passed away Monday May 2, 2011, at her home. Memorial services were held Friday, May 6, 2011 at The Bridge at Flat Rock Church. Pastor Robert Rutherford officiated.
Anne was a native of Charleston, S.C., but made her home at Lake Sinclair for many years. She was a graduate of Newberry College and a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority and former recruiter with Kayco Services.
Survivors include her partner, Linda Kay Branch; nephew Will Perreyclear (Tonya); niece Caroline Walasek (John); and other family including Jeri Kay Webb, Jay Webb (Kim), Jackson Perreyclear, Kealani Webb, Logan Walasek, Carter Webb, Blakelyn Perreyclear, Lawson Walasek, a brother Michael Perreyclear, and her beloved pets Raggs and Marley.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to The Bridge at Flat Rock Church, 232 Pea Ridge Road, Eatonton, GA 31024.

John Peck Jr.

John Peck Jr., 84, of Eatonton passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2011.
There was a Memorial Service on Saturday, May 7, at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel.
Mr. Peck is survived by his wife Mary Cone Peck and daughter Susan Park, grandsons Sy Park and wife Aimee and J. Park, also 2 great - grandchildren, Ace and James Park.

Sandra June Wiggins Swain

Sandra June Wiggins Swain, 71, of Lite-n-Tie Road, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011, in a local hospital. A memorial service was held Monday, May 9, at Lakeshore Community Church at 822 Twin Bridges Road in Eatonton, with Rev. Danny Lyles officiating the service. Burial will be private.
Mrs. Swain, the daughter of the late Esco W. Wiggins and Georgia Oliver Wiggins, was born in Turner County on January 17, 1940, and had lived in Jones County for the past 16 years. She was retired from the Bibb County Board of Education, working as a bus driver and was a member of Lakeshore Community Church in Eatonton. Mrs. Swain loved her Lord and was fond of singing gospel music. She loved taking care of people, fishing, bluegrass music and festivals and traveling by RV.
Mrs. Swain is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Susan and Jimmy Land of Jones County; son and daughter-in-law: Gerry and Nicole Swain of Rosalie, Alabama; companion: Ollie King of Eatonton; and by her grandchildren: Nick Swain of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Brittney Land and Jake Land, both of Jones County, Nikki Jensen of Hubert, North Carolina, Dustin Swain of Macon and Cali Swain of Rosalie.

Hazel Louise Adams

Mrs. Hazel Louise Adams of 106 Putnam Avenue, Eatonton, departed this life Saturday, April 23, 2011, at her residence.
Hazel Louise Brittain Redd Adams was the daughter of the late John Henry Brittain and Emma Lucy Little Brittain Anderson. She was born in the Godfrey Community and remained a lifelong resident of Putnam County, living most of her years in Eatonton. Her maternal grandparents were William and Sally Welch Little of Godfrey, and her paternal grandparents were Dock and Lillie Little Brittain. She was the devoted and faithful wife of the late Ephron Adams who died on August 24, 1982.
Her formal education was received in the Eatonton Public School System and the Atlanta Public School System, graduating Booker T. Washington High School. Her inclination to learn continued throughout her life, as she became a practical nurse to private patients. One of her greatest joys in life was being a Grandmother at Putnam County Head Start.
Hazel joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church when she was 12 years old. During her adult years, she was an active and energetic member, loyally attending and accepting her responsibilities. She took special joy in singing in the Senior Choir, serving as Chairperson of the Food Calendar Committee, and on the Mother's Board. In addition, since retirement she played an active role in the operation of the Putnam County Senior Citizen's Program and as a Senior Companion at the Putnam Jasper Training Center.
Hazel had an extraordinary personality, devoting herself to her children, grandchildren, her mother and husband until their deaths. In her work, inside and outside her home, she performed with a rare competency, taking pride in doing whatever she undertook and perfected it. She also possessed a strong faith in God and a positive, courageous outlook on life, taking in stride the disappointments and sorrows that inevitably beset human life.
Hazel is survived by two devoted daughters, Pamela Redd Hill and Deborah Redd of Eatonton, GA; grandchildren, Lucy Patrell Redd (Phillip), Clifford (Nicki) Hill, Jr., Latoya Hill, Shawn (Vickie) Hill; ten great grandchildren, Keeneesha, Keyanna, Erek, Clinecia, Catina , Chanai, Jamal, Jasmine, Damesha, Angel; one great great grandchild, Breanna; one aunt, Mrs. Judia Little Jacobs of Atlanta, GA; a host of other relatives and friends
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 30, 2011, from Ebenezer Baptist Church, Eatonton, Rev. Matthew Dennis, Jr., Pastor, officiated. Her burial followed at Eastside City cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Eatonton, GA.
