Mrs. Idella Allen

WAYNESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Idella Allen, of 2571 Seven Oaks Road, died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at Burke County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Beech Branch Baptist Church, Sardis, with the Rev. Charles Lacey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mrs. Allen, a native of Bulloch County, was a homemaker and a member of Beech Branch Baptist Church.

The family said she was a very loving mother, grandmother and aunt. We will all miss her.

Survivors include two sons, John Scott, Waynesboro, and John Allen, Augusta; one daughter, Ann Fryer, Augusta; and seven grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Beech Branch Baptist Church.

Friends may call at the residence or at Phinazee and Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Jack Bailey

Farmer

VIDETTE, Ga. -- Mr. Jack Bailey, 76, of 1171 Bailey Road, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Maranatha Tabernacle, Waynesboro, with the Revs. Paul Vaught and Wayne Dixon officiating. Burial will be in Rose Dhu cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Bailey, a native of Burke County, was a farmer and had been employed by Guggenheim Foundation, Cainhoy Plantation, as a dog trainer and hunting guide. He was founder and had been president of the Vidette Hunting Club.

Survivors include his wife, Lorinne Blount Bailey; one son, William Steven Bailey, Vidette; two daughters, Barbara B. Mobley and Connie B. Burgamy, both of Waynesboro; two brothers, Jesse Bailey and Larry Bailey, both of Vidette; two sisters, Anne Jordan, Vidalia, and Sue Parker, Augusta; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Nichols, Johnny Shivers, Gary Johnson, Henry Daniel, Bill DeLaigle, Clint Bailey, Mack Bailey, Kenny Leland and Jake Wilson.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Maranatha Tabernacle.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1725, Augusta, GA 30903; or the Medical College of Georgia Foundation, Children's Medical Center, FI 1000, Augusta, GA 30912-7700.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m today at DeLoach Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

Mr. Carlton Bennett

Custodian

SWAINSBORO, Ga. -- Mr. Carlton Bennett, 42, of 212 Washington St., died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Greater St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. James Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Swainsboro City cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Bennett was a custodian and served in the military. He was a member of William Chapel Holiness Church.

Survivors include five daughters, Lakeeshia Bennett, LaShawnthe Bennett and Latasha Bennett, all of Swainsboro, and Casandrea Gardner and Katrina Gardner, both of Augusta; his father, George Bennett, Swainsboro; his stepmother, Gertrude Bennett, Miami; one brother, Bobby Williams, Atlanta; three sisters, Juanita Adams, West Palm Beach, Fla., Leverne Smith, Tampa, Fla., and Patricia James, Lincoln, Neb.; one stepbrother, Anthony Freeman, Atlanta; two grandmothers, Doxie Harmon and Annie Bell Gray, both of Swainsboro; and three grandchildren.

Jones-Habersham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Oliver Blount

Retired truck driver

KEYSVILLE, Ga. -- Mr. Oliver Blount, of 733 Blount Road, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Springhill Baptist Church, Blythe, with the Rev. McKinley Drake officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Blount, a native of Burke County, had retired as a truck driver for The New York Times and was a member of Springhill Baptist Church.

The family said he was a very strong and generous man that will forever be in the memories of his family. He will be missed.

Survivors include one daughter, Rose Lee Berry, Wrens; five brothers, Willie S. Blount and Lamar Blount, both of Hephzibah, Nathaniel Blount, Augusta, and Freddie Blount and Albert Blount, Miami; two sisters, Melvina Streetman, Hephzibah, and Mae Miller, Florida.

Pallbearers will be Randy Brown, Stanley Blount, Danny Wright, Eugene Ryans, Scottie Wright and Bruce Meyers.

Friends may call at the residence or Dent's Funeral Home, Augusta.

Mrs. Emily Blume

Homemaker

Mrs. Emily Adelle Blume, 89, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1998.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Grace Fellowship Church with the Rev. Wade Trimmer officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Double Ponds cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Blackville, S.C.

Mrs. Blume, a native of Blackville, was a homemaker and a member of Grace Fellowship Church.

The family said we could not have made it without you. We will miss you.

Survivors include one son, Christopher Andrew Sweetwood, West Palm Beach, Fla.; three daughters, Marianne Sweetwood, West Palm Beach, Elizabeth O'Donnell, Lake Worth, Fla., and Lisa Schoon, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charles Tant, Donald Choat, David Key, Steve Robinson, Gerald Tant and George McDonald.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road.

Mrs. Carrie Buck

Homemaker

Mrs. Carrie Buck, 90, of 2122 Cummings Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1998, at Magnolia Hill Nursing Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Crawford Avenue Baptist Church with the Revs. William L. Owens and Gene Carroll officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.

Mrs. Buck, a native of Springfield, S.C., was a homemaker and a member of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church, where she was a member of Ellington Tony Bible Class.

Survivors include two sons, Joseph A. Buck, Augusta, and Dana Alan Buck Sr., Grovetown; one brother, Guy Cooper, Evans; one sister, Mrs. Montine Ross, Augusta; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Dana Alan Buck Jr., David Briggs Buck, Arthur Robb, Frank Lane, Eric Olig, Ronald Easler and Michael Beaver.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Telfair Street.

Ms. Jayne Chesnut

Dietitian

JACKSON, Mich. -- Ms. Jayne L. Kuhn Chesnut, 40, of 1011 S. Bowen St., died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1998, at University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina, Ohio, with the Rev. Richard R. Riedel officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Celina.

Ms. Chesnut, a native of Jackson, was a dietitian. She was a past president of the Dietetic Association of Savannah and was named Georgia Dietitian of the Year in 1987. She graduated from Michigan State University, East Lansing, and received her master's of education degree from Augusta College. She was a member of the National Dietetic Association and Queen of Miraculous Medal Church.

Survivors include a son, Brian Chesnut, Jackson; a daughter, Lesley Chesnut, Jackson; her parents, Joseph F. and Dolores B. Kuhn, Celina; and a brother, Daniel Kuhn, Jackson.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at W.H. Dick and Sons Funeral Home, Celina.

Mr. Henry Cummings

Retired custodian

Mr. Henry Cummings, of 327 Gilbert Manor, died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Beulah Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Sam Davis officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Cummings, a native of Columbia County, had retired as a custodian with United Brokerage and was a member of Beulah Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Willie Jennings, Seattle, Henry Cummings Jr., Augusta, and Major Cummings, Boston; three daughters, Jerelene McPherson, Boston, Beulah Calloway, Evans, and Dorothy Dyers, Augusta; one brother, Johnny Wilson, Augusta; three sisters, Carrie Bell Carter, Brenda Cummings and Linda Cummings, all of Augusta; and 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Friends may call at the residence or Williams Funeral Home.

Mrs. Naomi Estroff

Mrs. Naomi P. Estroff, 85, of 1002 Katherine St., died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1998, at her residence.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Magnolia cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery with Rabbis Alex Greenbaum and Jordan Parr officiating.

Mrs. Estroff, a native of Augusta, was a homemaker and a member of Adas Yeshurun Synagogue and Congregation Children of Israel Walton Way Temple. She was a former president and a lifetime member of Hadassah Ladies Auxiliary of St. Joseph Hospital and a member of the Augusta Symphony.

Survivors include two sons, Malcolm C. Estroff, Augusta, and Simon Estroff, Charlotte, N.C.; one daughter, Dale E. Toporek, Augusta; one brother, Sanford Pomerance, Cocoanut Grove, Fla.; one sister, Evelyn P. Glasser, Altamonte Springs, Fla.; and 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brian Estroff, Seth Toporek, Jeffrey Estroff, Eric Estroff, Evan Toporek, Dov Estroff, Jeremy Estroff, Jordan Estroff and Harris Hartman.
