JOHNSTON, S.C. -- Mr. Richard Green, 55, of 207 Bland Ave., died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1998, in Edgefield County.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Amos and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Lewis Burt officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Baptist Church cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Green, a native of Jackson, Miss., was retired.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Green; three sons, Richard Green, Keith Green and Larry Green, all of Mississippi; and one brother, Willie Green, West Columbia.

Friends may call at the residence or the funeral home.

Mr. Terrance Griffin

Machine operator

GIRARD, Ga. -- Mr. Terrance Griffin, 20, of 165 Penn Lane, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m.today at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Romles Pierce and Berry Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Thankful Baptist Church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Griffin, a native of Richmond County, had been a machine operator with Globe Business Furniture. He was a member of Thankful Baptist Church, where he served on the usher board.

Survivors include one daughter, Sawiyah Griffin, Girard; his father, John W. Griffin, Girard; his mother, Edith Rogers, Girard; one brother, Terry Deon Griffin, Girard; one sister, Jessica Roberts, Girard; and one stepgrandmother, Arlene Burnett, Girard.

Pallbearers will be his uncles.

Friends may call at the residence or Phinazee and Son Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

Mr. James Harris Jr.

United Technologies employee

THOMSON -- Mr. James Edward Harris Jr., 52, of 115 Sills St., died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Jones Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. John Henry Bush officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Harris, a native of McDuffie County, had been employed with United Technologies and was a member of Jones Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Willie Ceasars and Leonard Lamont Reynolds, both of Thomson, and James Edward Harris III, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one daughter, Latesha Nikki Harris, Fort Lauderdale; his stepfather, Frank Freeman, Thomson; three brothers, Jesse J. Freeman, Frank Harris Jr. and James Jones, all of Thomson; two sisters, Mary Lois Houston Williams, Brunswick, and Betty Jo Pugh, Thomson; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Walter Franklin, Willie Hull, Sergio Butler, Ricco Huff, Lanis Huff and Billy Samuels.

Friends may call at the residence or Thomson Funeral System.

Mr. Nathaniel Irvin

Physical education instructor

Mr. Nathaniel ``Napoleon" Irvin, 32, of 1132 12th Ave., died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Second Mount Moriah Baptist Church with the Rev. Andy Thornton officiating. Burial will be in Southview cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Irvin, a native of Augusta, was a physical education instructor and a member of Second Mount Moriah Baptist Church. He was a graduate of T.W. Josey High School and the University of South Carolina.

Survivors include one daughter, Brittney Irvin; his father, James H. Irvin; his mother, Jeannette Irvin; three brothers, James H. Irvin III, Antione B. Irvin and Charles Irvin, all of Augusta; three sisters, Joyce L. Diggs, Annette V. Grace and Connie E. Irvin; and his grandmother, Louise Darrian, Augusta.

Pallbearers will be Rick Hollino, Lamont Smith, Terry Wright, Levell Keeling, Bernard Williams, Patrick Hudson, Levert Anderson, Charles Williams and Odenathus El.

Friends may call at the residence or C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Valentine Jenkins

Retired records keeper

STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mr. Valentine Jenkins, 87, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Revs. Ron Davison and David Stachurski officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Brundige City cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Brundige, Ala.

Mr. Jenkins, a native of Charleston, S.C., was retired from the South Carolina National Guard and from the civil service as a records keeper. He was a World War II veteran. He had been a volunteer with Bulloch Memorial Hospital and the Statesboro Regional Library and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

Survivors include one brother-in-law, Lamar Kennedy, Lawrenceville.

The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Trinity Episcopal Church.

Joiner-Shepard Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hubert Lewis

Civil service retiree

Mr. Hubert Bryson Lewis, 73, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at Windermere Nursing Home.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Poteet Funeral Home, Wheeler Road, with the Rev. Richard Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Abilene cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Evans.

Mr. Lewis, a native of Augusta, had retired from the civil service and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he was a member of the choir. He was a member and former president of the Rotary Club.

Survivors include one sister, Dorothy Mae Lewis, Gracewood, Ga.

Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 4303 Wheeler Road, Martinez, GA 30907.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Elizabeth Lofton

Retired factory worker

THOMSON -- Mrs. Elizabeth ``Mimi" H. Lofton, 95, of 811 Mimosa St., died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at Columbia Augusta Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Springfield Baptist Church with the Rev. F.D. Favors officiating. Burial will be in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Lofton, a native of McDuffie County, was a retired factory worker with the Garment Workers Trade and was a member of Springfield Baptist Church and Eastern Star.

Survivors include five nephews, Melvyn Grant, Herman Appling Jr., John R. White, Wellington Appling and Dennis Venson; and four nieces, Juanita Grant, Evelyn Washington, Joyce R. Hedgepeth and Cheryle D. Appling.

Friends may call at the residence of Melvyn and Juanita Grant, Mimosa Street, or Thomson Funeral System.

Mrs. Viola Lowe

Homemaker

THOMSON -- Mrs. Viola Bradshaw Lowe, 76, of 523 Pine Court, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at McDuffie County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Springfield Baptist Church with the Rev. F.D. Favors officiating. Burial will be in Society cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Mesena.

Mrs. Lowe, a native of McDuffie County, was a homemaker and had been a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, Dearing.

Survivors include five sons, Bubba Lowe, Robert Lowe, Johnny Lee Lowe, Richard Battle Jr. and Aleck Lowe, all of Thomson; two daughters, Susie Lowe and Ocie Mae Stockton, both of Thomson; one brother, John Thomas Griffin, Atlanta; two sisters, Louise Moore and Sara Harris, both of Thomson; and 26 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Friends may call at the residence or Thomson Funeral System.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sara Mines

Homemaker

UNION POINT, Ga. -- Mrs. Sara Griffith Mines, 83, of 1091 Dennis St., died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at Minnie G. Boswell Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Greenlawn cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery with the Rev. David Key officiating.

Mrs. Mines, a native of Greene County, was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Cannon, Comer; and seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Callaway Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gladys Mingle

SYLVANIA, Ga. -- Mrs. Gladys Bryant Rhodes Mingle, 48, of 1761 Burton Ferry Highway, died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at Memorial Hospital Center, Savannah.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at New Home Welcome Baptist Church with the Rev. Sanka Davis officiating. Burial will be in Lawton cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mrs. Mingle, a native of Sylvania, was employed by Screven County Community Action in the transportation department. She was a member of New Home Welcome Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Mingle Jr., Sylvania; one stepson, Joseph Bernard Parrish, Hiltonia; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Eugene Mingle, Herman Kirkland, John Mingle, Willie Mingle, Nelson Scott, Jake Scott, Calvin Bland, James Mingle, Shannon D. Mingle, Tyrone Mingle, Willie C. Pryor and Roger Pryor.

Sylvania Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
