FAIRFAX, S.C. -- Ms. Aurelia Kinard Harvey, 77, of Route 1, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at Allendale Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Smith-Rhoden Funeral Home with the Rev. Phillip Latta officiating. Burial will be in Fairfax cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Ms. Harvey, a native of Colleton County, was a homemaker and a member of Fairfax First Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Roger Dale Kinard; one brother, Marshall Ryan, Ruffin; one sister, Deloris Gardner, Walterboro; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Loretta Heath

Retired seamstress

Girard, Ga. -- Mrs. Loretta Burke Heath, 78, of 347 Creek Road, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at Miss Daisy Mae's Personal Care Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Bethany United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Brinton officiating. Burial will be in Burke Memorial Gardens, Waynesboro.

Mrs. Heath, a native of Jenkins County, had lived in Burke County most of her life. She had retired from Sardis Manufacturing Co. as a seamstress and was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Lamar Heath, Girard; a son, Larry E. Heath, Evans; a brother, Herman Burke, Millen; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Junior Johnson, Junior Harden, Otis Williamson, William Jackson, Jerry Manley and Charles Hall.

DeLoach Funeral Home, Waynesboro, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gene McDaniel

Retired dormitory director

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -- Mrs. Gene Phillips McDaniel, 76, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Moores Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Thomas officiating.

Mrs. McDaniel, a native of Monticello, was a retired dormitory director with Georgia College, Middle Georgia College and Appalachian State University.

Survivors include two daughters, Gene M. Gentry, Pinehurst, N.C., and Susan M. Deason, Milledgeville; one sister, Helen Grace Phillips Cross, Douglas; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Baldwin County, 82 N. Cobb St., Milledgeville, GA 31061; or Dogwood Retirement Center Association, 101 S. Columbia St., Milledgeville, GA 31061.

Friends may call at the residence of Susan Deason, 161 Lakecrest Drive.

Rev. Douglas Rutland Sr.

Pastor

BARNWELL, S.C. -- The Rev. J. Douglas Rutland Sr., 59, of South Carolina Highway 3, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at Regional Medical Centers of Orangeburg.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Folk Funeral Home, Williston, with the Revs. Bobby Frederick and James Wingate officiating. Burial will be in Barnwell Memorial Park cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

The Rev. Rutland, a native of Williston, was a member and pastor of Holy Ground Baptist Church, Williston. He was a Marine Corps veteran and a member of the American Legion Post No. 46. He had been pastor of Trinity, Noble Street, Rocky Grove, Lighthouse, Spring Branch, Peniel and Seivern Baptist churches.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ineta Morris Rutland; two sons, John D. Rutland Jr., Barnwell, and James C. Rutland, Blackville; one daughter, Janet Ruth R. Estep, Barnwell; one sister, M. Joanne R. Baxley, Barnwell; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 2108 Manville Ave., Barnwell, SC 29812.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Rev. Thomas Sapp Jr.

Minister

The Rev. Thomas E. Sapp Jr., 58, of 1333 Blount Ave., died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1998, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gilbert-Lambeth Chapel, Paine College, with the Revs. Andrew Johnson and James Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Rev. Sapp, a native of Savannah, was pastor of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church. He was a minister and a member of Greater Young Zion Baptist Church. He attended public school in Chatham County and graduated from Moody Bible Institute, Chicago. He was a member of the Yorkrite Masons and Augusta Baptist Ministerial Conference. He served as a member of the Georgia State Board of Funeral Services and had been listed in Who's Who in the CSRA. He was founder and had been pastor of New Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He also had been pastor at Mount Moriah, Greater Young Zion, Christian Fountain and First Baptist churches.

Survivors include one son, Norman Jefferson, Morgan; four daughters, Nicole Paige and Desiree Sapp-Barnwell, both of Atlanta, and Tania Sapp-Walker and Lillian Green, both of Augusta; one brother, Timothy Sapp, Augusta; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of Augusta Baptist Ministerial Conference.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Fairview Baptist Church and member of Augusta Baptist Ministerial Conference.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Fairview Missionary Baptist Church.

Mrs. Rosa Simmons

WILLISTON, S.C. -- Mrs. Rosa Lee Simmons, 55, of 128 Bing Section Road, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at Richland Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Young Rosemary Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Israel Boatwright and Wade Scott officiating. Burial will be in Sand Hill cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mrs. Simmons, a native of Metter, Ga., was employed with Color Mark and had been employed with Burlington, Barnwell. She had been a member of Canaan Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and was a member of Young Rosemary Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Young Rosemary Gospel Choir and the Stars of Faith.

Survivors include one son, Randy Rice, North Augusta; one daughter, Sylvia Simmons, Williston; one stepdaughter, Shelly Reed, Aiken; and one sister, Willie Mae Pridgen, Metter.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Simmons Funeral Home.

Mr. Jack Stewart

A memorial service for MR. JACK W. STEWART will be held Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 20, 1998, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of George Funeral Home, Southside. Interment will be private. Mr. Stewart, 69, of 131 Aspen Drive, New Ellenton, S.C., died Sunday night, Jan. 18, 1998, at the Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Mr. Stewart is survived by his former wife, Joan Stewart, Pineola, NC.; a daughter, Jackie Lynn Keenan, New Ellenton, S.C.; a brother, William Lee Stewart, Winston-Salem, N.C.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his brother, Forrest Miles Stewart, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation or to the Charity of one's choice. Mr. Albert Bennett Jr.

Army retiree

Mr. Albert M. Bennett Jr., of 1056 Hickman Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Bennett, a native of Lancaster, Pa., was retired from the Army as a command sergeant and was a veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Augusta College and was a professional adviser to Phi Beta Lamda Student Association. He was a member of the Masons.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Bennett; one son, Gerald Bennett, Augusta; one daughter, Judith Presnell, Augusta; his mother, Grace Bennett, Lancaster; one brother, Ralph Bennett, Lancaster; two sisters, Virginia Bearly and Betty Hadden, both of Lancaster; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association of Georgia, 3630 J. Dewey Gray Circle, Augusta, GA 30909.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Platt's Funeral Home, Crawford Avenue.

Mr. Loyd Morris Sr.

Retired federal electronics specialist

Mr. Loyd Morris Sr., 67, of 6648 Shucraft Road, Appling, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at White Oak Methodist Church with the Revs. Hubert Story and Lee Almy Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Morris, a native of Appling, was retired as a federal electronics specialist and had assignments in various countries. He was a member of White Oak Methodist Church, where he served on the administrative board, finance committee and board of trustees. He was a 32nd-degree Mason in the Augusta Scottish Rite and Harlem Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Thomson Shrine Club, Alee Shriners of Savannah, Thomson Admiral Hawes Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7778, and the Thomson chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He was an Air Force veteran, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and a past commander of the El Paso, Texas, Post No. 8919. He served as a voting poll official for the Columbia County-Appling precinct.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Miller Morris; two sons, Loyd E. Morris Jr. and Randall Dean Morris, both of Appling; two daughters, Vickie M. Whitaker, Appling, and Karen M. Luke, Evans; two sisters, Alice M. McNair, Thomson, and Grace M. Wilkerson, Augusta; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Arthur Grimaud, Pete Allen, Paul Watson, Howard Callaway, Leon Morris and Donald Wayne McGahee.

Memorials may be made to White Oak Methodist Church, c/o Arthur Grimaud, 4956 White Oak Road, Appling, GA 30802.

Mrs. Mary Queen

Retired office administrator

WAYNESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Mary Brinson Queen, 88, of 115 Brentwood Drive, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at Brentwood Terrace Nursing Center.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Little Buckhead cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Millen, with the Rev. Harold Rowland officiating.

Mrs. Queen, a native of Jenkins County, was retired from Agnes Scott College as an office administrator and a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesboro.

Survivors include one daughter, Betty J. Mahaffey, Waynesboro; and two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Crowe-Fields Funeral Home, Millen, is in charge of arrangements.
