Mr. David Tager

GRANITEVILLE -- Mr. David Dewayne Tager, 41, of 204 Kalmia Apartments, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Napier Funeral Home with the Rev. David Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Langley.

Mr. Tager, a native of Aiken County, was a Baptist.

Survivors include three sons, Brad Tager and Shane Tager, both of Graniteville, and Dewayne Tager, Edgefield; four brothers, George Tager, Springfield, Allen Tager, Columbia, Jack Tager, Gaston, and Bennie Tager, Texas; and two sisters, Susan Chapman, Warrenville, and Dessie Boles, Pelion.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Tager, Carl Chapman, Steve Zorn, Johnny Chapman, Jeff Tager and Alvin Duncan.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Charles Turman

Counselor

HEPHZIBAH -- Mr. Charles P. Turman, 46, of 3728 Woodcock Drive, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Nathaniel Irvin officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Turman, a native of Augusta, was a counselor and a member of Cumming Grove Baptist Church. He was a graduate of John M. Tutt High School and Winston Salem State University, where he was a member of the band.

The family said he loved children and committed himself to counseling youth and encouraging them to reach their full potential.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Turman; three sons, Charles R. Turman, Jason Turman and Justin Turman, all of Augusta; two daughters, Chelse Turman and Brandi Turman, both of Augusta; his parents, Robert P. and Juanita Turman, Augusta; two brothers, Joel Turman, Oceanside, Calif., and Robert N. Turman, Evans; three sisters, Mattie ``Betty" Jones and Teresa Jones, both of Decatur, and Lisa Duncan, Augusta; and one grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Paul Williams

Army retiree

Mr. Paul N. Williams, of 2022 Lamar Road, died Monday, Jan. 26, 1998, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Wards Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. C.W. Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Williams, a native of Richmond County, was retired from the Army as a specialist. He was a 1962 graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School and a member of the Aries Club, where he served as president. He had been employed by the Medical College of Georgia.

Survivors include his wife, Mary J. Williams; one son, Cosmos L. McCullough, Augusta; one daughter, Pamela Williams, Augusta; one sister, Mary Lewis, Augusta; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of the Army.

Friends may call at the residence or Williams Funeral Home.

Jessica Blair

Infant

AVERA, Ga. -- Jessica Evalisha Blair, infant daughter of Janice Blair, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital, Augusta.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Springfield African Methodist Episcopal Church cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery with the Rev. Leroy Britt officiating.

Friends may call at the residence of Gwendolyn Blair, 513 William Bridge Road.

Burnett Funeral Home, Wrens, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Eloise Brunson

Newspaper retiree

WARRENVILLE -- Mrs. Eloise Cook Brunson, 77, of 144 Golf Course Road, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Shellhouse Funeral Home, Aiken, with the Revs. Mike Ditton and Mike Terry officiating. Burial will be in Warrenville cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mrs. Brunson, a native of Savannah, had lived in Warrenville since 1976. She had retired from the circulation department of The Aiken Standard. She was a member of Christ's Way Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, Calvin Brunson; a son, Carl Lewis Grizzard, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a daughter, Carol Ann Hall, Clearwater; a brother, Leroy Cook, Savannah; a sister, Elenor DeBerry, Savannah; and four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lew Schnabelrauch, Roger Carr, Richard Mead, Allen Merritt, Paul Carroll and Dave Stephenson.

Memorials may be made to Christ's Way Christian Church, P.O. Box 3351, Aiken, SC 29802.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Willie Collins Sr.

Retired construction worker

Mr. Willie Allen Collins Sr., 85, of 2522 Blackstone St., died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at Beverly Manor Nursing Home.

The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Crawford Grove Baptist Church, Columbia County, with the Rev. Kelly C. Moore officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Collins, a native of Columbia County, had retired as a construction worker. He was a member of Crawford Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sadie Maude Collins; three sons, Willie A. Collins Jr., Tom Collins III and Robert James Collins, all of Augusta; nine daughters, Frances Collins, Mary Collins, Victoria Dianne Jackson, Martha Dicks, Willie Maude Crawford and Mattie McCree, all of Augusta, Brenda Mathis, Fort Campbell, Ky., Mamie Bostic, Jamaica, N.Y., and Grace Davis, Sumter, S.C.; four sisters, Louise Jones, Victoria Quiller and Mattie Roscoe, all of Augusta, and Johnnie Mae Cain, Detroit; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the residence or at Williams Funeral Home.

Mrs. Evelyn Gillis

SOPERTON, Ga. -- Mrs. Evelyn Edge Gillis, 73, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, in Treutlen.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sammons Funeral Home with the Rev. Calvin Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Zaidee Advent Christian Church cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mrs. Gillis, a native of Treutlen County, was a member of Zaidee Advent Christian Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Jan Braddy and Deborah Gillis, both of Soperton; a brother, Thurman Edge, Soperton; three sisters, Annie Brown, Augusta, Lois Webb, East Dublin, and Wauchula Reynolds, Soperton; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Thomas Hedglin

Mobile home technician

NORTH AUGUSTA -- Mr. Thomas D. Hedglin, 20, of 605 Fairview Drive, died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998.

The funeral will be at 5 p.m. today at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home, Augusta, with the Rev. Benenhaley Haley officiating.

Mr. Hedglin, a native of Kankakee, Ill., was a mobile home technician.

His family said he enjoyed detailing and driving his truck.

Survivors include his parents, Richard Lowe and Wanda Lowe, North Augusta; two brothers, Tim Hedglin, Jacksonville, Fla., and Terry Hedglin, Joliet, Ill.; and a sister, Brend Nowak, Bourbonnais, Ill.

Friends may call at the residence or at 4:45 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms. Pauline Hightower

Homemaker

AIKEN -- Ms. Pauline Hightower, of 749 Silver Bluff Road, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Zion Fair Missionary Baptist Church, New Ellenton, with the Rev. Bruce Wright officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Ms. Hightower, a native of Aiken, was a homemaker and a member of Zion Fair Missionary Baptist Church.

Her family said Ms. Hightower dedicated her life to helping others.

Survivors include a son, Charles Hightower, Aiken; seven daughters, Lizzie Williams, Barbara Jean Hightower, Gail Taylor, Renee Hightower, Darlene Hightower and Gwen Hightower, all of Aiken, and Marie Hightower, Columbia; three brothers, Ernest Hightower, Willie James Hightower and Charlie Hightower, all of Aiken; a sister, Corine Hightower, Aiken; and 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Joe Drayton, Rubin Lee, Matt Jamison, Larry Council, Tony Wright and Haram Spain.

Friends may call at the residence of Gwen Hightower, 663 Carver Terrace N.E., or after 2 p.m. today at Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Mr. Alexander Martin

Mr. Alexander Martin, 31, of 1467 1/2 Tutt Ave., died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at Old Capital Nursing Home, Louisville, Ga.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Walker Memorial Park with the Rev. Gary Hammond officiating.

Mr. Martin was a native of Augusta.

Survivors include a son, Maurice Miller, Augusta; his mother, Lola Martin, Augusta; his stepfather, Moses Cooper, Augusta; several stepbrothers and stepsisters; his paternal grandmother, Juanita Whitney, Florida; and his maternal grandparents, Charlie Lowe and Rosella Lowe, Augusta.

Mr. Bobby Martin

Retiree

SPARTA, Ga. -- Mr. Bobby M. Martin, 51, of Route 1, Box 156, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, at Athens Regional Medical Center, Athens.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Knowles Chapel Methodist Church, Hancock County, with the Rev. Stiles Cobb officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Martin, a native of Sparta, had retired from Sparta Furniture Co. He was a member of Knowles Chapel Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Peebles, Dearing, and Wendy Martin, Greensboro; three sisters, Joyce Smith, Searcey, Ark., Louise Pack, McDonough, and Ann Dunn, Sparta; and one grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Patterson Funeral Home.
