Mrs. Lucille Ashley

Mrs. Lucille E. Ashley, 93, of 4275 Owens Road, Evans, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Louisville United Methodist Church with the Revs. Ed Deen and Emory Gilbert officiating. Burial will be in Louisville City cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mrs. Ashley, a native of Washington County, was the former owner of Ashley Florist, Louisville, and a member of United Methodist Church. She was a resident of Brandon Wilde Retirement Home.

Survivors include one son, Charles Ashley, North Augusta; and two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her nephews and grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Thursday at Johnson-Grier Funeral Home, Louisville.

Mr. D.T. Atkinson Sr.

Retired printer

NORTH AUGUSTA -- Mr. D.T. Atkinson Sr., 84, of 739 Pine Log Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, at University Hospital, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lakeside Baptist Church, Clearwater, with the Revs. Bill Reese and John George officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Langley.

Mr. Atkinson, a native of Edgefield, was a retired printer with Clearwater Finishing Plant, a division of United Merchants and Manufacturing. He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church, where he was a member of Joy Sunday School Class and served as a deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Toole Atkinson; one son, D.T. Atkinson Jr., North Augusta; one daughter, Karen Atkinson Blackburn, North Augusta; three sisters, Marie Johnson, Jupiter, Fla., Martha Jenkins, Troy, N.Y., and Mildred Bennett, Lawton, Pa.; and three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jerome Berendsen, Mario Booth, Larry Haney, Patrick Atkinson, Mark Baxley and Christopher Atkinson.

Memorials may be made to Lakeside Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1726, Clearwater, SC 29822.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley.

Mrs. Mae Brown

Retired waitress

HEPHZIBAH -- Mrs. Mae Dell Brown, 77, of 2884 Lake Michigan Road, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998, at her residence.

Mrs. Brown, a native of LaGrange, Ga., was a retired waitress with Western Sizzlin Steak House.

Survivors include one brother, Woodrow Brown, Augusta.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, Martinez.

Mr. Herbert Chance

Retired farmer

WAYNESBORO, Ga. -- Mr. Herbert R. Chance, 83, of 842 Shadrack St., died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Al Wright and Harold Rowland officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Chance, a native of Burke County, was a retired farmer and an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 120 and the Georgia Farm Bureau.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda C. Benton, Ponte Vedra, Fla.; and three sisters, Doris C. Burroughs, Sardis, Isabelle C. Wren, Vidette, and Jean Chance, Waynesboro.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Cummings, Q.U. Lively, Lamar Prescott, Jody Prescott, Buddy Wren, Phillip Wren, Bob Burroughs and W.L. Usher.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of First Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at DeLoach Funeral Home.

Mr. Marion Dunham

Retiree

Mr. Marion William ``Boots" Dunham, 84, died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, at his residence.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Westover Memorial Park with the Rev. Dale Dean officiating.

Mr. Dunham was retired from United Merchants as an administrator and was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, where he had been teacher of Beckum Bible Class. He was a member of Webbs Lodge Free and Accepted Masons and the Beech Island Agricultural Club.

Survivors include one son, Marion William Dunham Jr., Augusta; three daughters, Jane Willingham, Macon, Carolyn Spanjer, Augusta, and Susan Bollman, San Diego; one sister, Louise Dunham, Jacksonville, Fla.; and eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 439 Greene Street, Augusta, GA 30901.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Poteet Funeral Home, Greene Street.

Mrs. Ada Foreman

GARFIELD, Ga. -- Mrs. Ada Bell Foreman, 77, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at University Hospital, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Jones Temple Baptist Church, Millen, with the Rev. E.L. Jones officiating. Burial will be in Jones Temple cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mrs. Foreman, a native of Jenkins County, was a homemaker and a member of Jones Temple Baptist Church.

Survivors include seven sons, Willie Foreman, Lester Foremen and Clyde Foreman, all of Millen, Harrison Foreman, Portal, J.R. Foreman, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Louis Foreman, Midville, and Floyd Foreman, Augusta; five daughters, Yvonne Jones and Linda Ford, both of Twin City, Janie McCoy, Midville, Mamie Foreman, Hardeeville, S.C., and Geneise Carter, Millen; three brothers, J.C. Badie Sr. and C.B. Badie, both of Swainsboro, and Frank Badie, Millen, ; and 56 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Dwight's Funeral Home, Millen.

Mrs. Agnes Franklin

Retired textile employee

JOHNSTON, S.C. -- Mrs. Agnes Snipes Franklin, 69, of 108 Lee St., died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Bland Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve English officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.

Mrs. Franklin, a native of Aiken County, was a retired textile employee with Graniteville Co. and a member of Providence Baptist Church.

Survivors include three brothers, Calvin V. Snipes, Aiken, Oakley B. Snipes, Saluda, and Robert B. Snipes, Texas; and six sisters, Dorothy Condrey and Brenda Hall, both of Trenton, Emma ``Polly" Snipes, Johnston, Fannie L. DuBose, Aiken, Mary Stephens, Concord, N.C., and Barbara A. Whitworth, Columbia.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Louis Funderburg

Building contractor

Mr. Louis Funderburg, 77, of 4199 Rivermont Drive, died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Richard Shepard, elder, officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.

Mr. Funderburg, a native of Augusta, was a self-employed general contractor and had served in the Army. He was a member of Seventh-Day Adventist Church, the Optimist Club of Augusta and the Augusta Builder's Exchange. He constructed the WJBF Building and Transmission Tower, which was, at the time, the tallest tower east of the Mississippi River. He also constructed the Peach Orchard Plaza, the Abbeyville Hospital, Abbeyville, S.C. and the Georgia Cumberland Conference Center, Calhoun.

The family said he was a master builder who was very meticulous and took pride in his work for 60 years. He thought of construction not only as work, but as his life. He was a family-loving person and a Christian husband and father who was loved by many.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtis P. Funderburg; two sons, Eric F. Funderburg, Evans, and Don Lee Funderburg, Augusta; two daughters, Alicia F. Rose, Martinez, and Donna F. Wold, Purcellville, Va.; two brothers, Wilbur Funderburg, Lynn Haven, Fla., and Gerald Funderburg, Augusta; one sister, Hazel Campbell Brooks, Appling; and six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Abdulla M. Abdulla, Jerry Barnett, William Brown, Talmadge Bussey, Ricky Campbell, Tommy Campbell, Wilbur Funderburg Jr., David Hogue, Jimmy McDaniel, Daniel Porter, Donald Porter, Heyward Porter, Chris Raines, Tom Reagan, Marc Zachary and employees of Country Way Construction Inc.

Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15923, Augusta, GA 30909-1923.

Friends may call at Poteet Funeral Home, Wheeler Road.

Mr. Rema Grubbs

BLACKVILLE, S.C. -- Mr. Rema Grubbs, 84, of South Carolina Highway 304, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, at the Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg and Calhoun Counties.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Folk Funeral Home, Williston. Burial will be in Double Pond Baptist Church cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Grubbs, a native of Barnwell County, was a former employee of Palmer Furniture Co. and a member of Double Pond Baptist Church, where he was a member of adult Sunday school class No. 1.

The family said he was an avid gardener and fisherman.

Survivors include his wife, Edith H. Grubbs; one son, James D. Grubbs, Columbia; one daughter, Nancy G. Bolen, Orangeburg; one brother, Melvin Grubbs Jr., Barnwell; four sisters, Reba Dyches and Louise Odom, both of Blackville, Elizabeth Black, Hilda, and Eliza Connor, North Charleston; and four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. William Hargrove

STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mr. William ``Bill" Hargrove, of 101 Stockyard Road, died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, at Premier Rehab Center.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Green Fork Baptist cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Perkins, with the Rev. Grady Hargrove officiating.

Mr. Hargrove, a native of Jenkins County, was a member of Green Fork Baptist Church.

Survivors include two brothers, Earl Hargrove and Leslie Hargrove, both of Millen; and one sister, Georgia H. Dietch, Perkins.

Friends may call until 2:30 p.m. today at the Crowe-Fields Funeral Home, Millen.
