SALUDA, S.C. -- Mr. Frontis David Turner, 67, of 411 Travis Ave., died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at Self Memorial Hospital.

Foster grandparent

Mrs. Maggie L. Walker, 77, of 1728 Mill St., died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday at True Vine Baptist Church with the Rev. F.L. Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mrs. Walker, a native of Keysville, Ga., was a foster grandparent at Gracewood State School and Hospital. She was a member of William Grove Baptist Church and First Mount Moriah Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Marion Walker, Roosevelt Walker and Ray Charles Walker, all of Newark, N.J., and Clarence Walker, Opa-Locka, Fla.; four daughters, Shirley Walker and Sandra Walker, both of Augusta, Linda Wright, Hephzibah, and Mildred Fryer, Boston; a stepson, Earnest Walker, Hollywood, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Mary A. Jones, New York; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joe Thomas, Jackie Evans, Isiah Allen and Benjamin Lewis.

Friends may call at the residence or after 3 p.m. today at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Harold Baldwin

Businessman

NEW ELLENTON -- Mr. Harold T. Baldwin, 78, of 304 Jewel St. S.W., died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Corinth Baptist Church with the Rev. Brancie Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, Charleston.

Mr. Baldwin, a native of Meridian, Miss., had lived in New Ellenton since 1985. He was a business owner and a veteran of the Coast Guard Reserves. He was a member of Masonic Lodge Union Kilwinning No. 4 Accepted Free Masons, New Ellenton Lodge No. 389 and Corinth Baptist Church, where he sang in the adult choir, was an assistant Sunday school teacher and was a member of the senior men's Sunday school class.

His family said he loved the choir and Sunday school.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Estelle Coleman Baldwin; two sons, Philip Baldwin, Philadelphia, and Leon Baldwin, Goose Creek; a daughter, Mary Katherine Luttrell, Charleston; two stepsons, Ray Browder and Ed Browder, both of North Augusta; and 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Masonic Lodge No. 389 and deacons of Corinth Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to Corinth Baptist Church Building Fund.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at George Funeral Home, Whiskey Road, Aiken.

Ms. Becky Callaway

MONROE, Ga. -- Ms. Becky Callaway, 37, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998.

Funeral services were Friday at Harvest Baptist Church with the Revs. Jim McFarlin and John King officiating. Burial was in Phillips Mill Baptist Church cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Washington.

Survivors include her mother, Helen Callaway, Monroe; her father, W.C. Callaway, Monroe; two brothers, William H. Callaway and Tim Callaway, both of Monroe; and her grandmother, Myrtie Callaway, Washington.

Pallbearers were Gary Callaway, Barry Callaway, Roger Martin, Jimmy Martin, Ted May and Wayne Callaway.

Miss Eva Crook

ATLANTA -- Miss Eva Lois Crook, 78, of Nurse Care of Atlanta, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at Van Core Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Lincolnton, with the Rev. David Riner officiating.

Miss Crook, a native of Lincoln County, had lived in Atlanta for 50 years and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Survivors include several cousins.

Friends may call at Rees Funeral Home, Lincolnton.

Mr. Brian Ducate

Assistant store manager

COLUMBIA -- Mr. Brian Albert Ducate, 32, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at Baptist Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 10 .m. today at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Aiken, with the Rev. Thomas A. Evatt officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Aiken.

Mr. Ducate, a native of Teaneck, N.J., had lived in Aiken most of his life. He was a 1985 graduate of Aiken High School, where he was a member of the tennis team, and a graduate of the College of Charleston. He was assistant manager of the Rock Hill Structure clothing store. He was a member of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church.

His family said he was an avid golfer and was active in sports.

Survivors include his parents, Frank S. Ducate and Dorothy G. Ducate, Aiken; a brother, Gaety F. Ducate, Aiken; and two sisters, Lorraine Ducate Criminger and Nicole Ducate, both of Columbia.

Pallbearers will be Bill Chappell, Travis Chappell, Dick DeMasi Jr., Jimmy Jackson, Paul Cude Jr. and Dennis Ducate.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Midlands, 1400 Pickens St., Columbia, SC 29201.

George Funeral Home, Park Avenue, Aiken, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ernest Mason

Retired farmer

SWAINSBORO, Ga. -- Mr. Ernest O. Mason, 71, of 72 Christopher Drive, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at Emanuel Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tomlinson Funeral Home with the Rev. Kelmer Durden officiating. Burial will be in New Hope cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Emanuel County.

Mr. Mason, a native of Emanuel County, had retired as a farmer.

Survivors include two brothers, Kenneth Mason and Bennie Mason, both of Savannah; and two sisters, Virginia Mason and Christine Mason, both of Swainsboro.

Pallbearers will be Keith Mason, Steve Mason, Craig Mason, Gene Bennett, Bill Bennett and Mark Williams.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mary Mulcahy

Homemaker

McCORMICK, S.C. -- Mrs. Mary Evelyn Marshall Mulcahy, 49, of 201 Tara Court N., died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at SLV Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Mulcahy, a native of Kansas City, Kan., was a former resident of Griffith, Ind., and had lived in McCormick for six years. She was a homemaker and a member of Savannah Lakes Village Property Owners Association and CSRA Women's Golf Association.

Survivors include her husband, Harry William Mulcahy.

Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton, Ga., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Julia Story

Home health-care provider

Mrs. Julia Mae Jackson Story, 51, of 2915 Cumberland Drive, died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at noon Wednesday at Jerusalem Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy L. Burges officiating.

Mrs. Story, a native of Pailo, Penn., was a 1963 graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School. She was a home health-care provider for St. Joseph Home Health Care and had retired from Jack LeVine as a sales clerk. She was a volunteer mother for Bell Terrance Marching Unit and a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Dwaynell Othella Peterson, Stardwick Charles Ronshondia Story and Kennith Carroll Peterson, all of Augusta; two brothers, Othella Hamilton, Thomson, and George Blaylock, Kinsey, Ga.; three sisters, Alenithia J. Blount and Lynn Berrian, both of Augusta, and Brenda Bender, Louisville, Ky.; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be deacons of Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Friends may call at the residence or after 2 p.m. today at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. B.R. Stuckey

Retired engineer

NORTH AUGUSTA -- Mr. B.R. Stuckey, 83, died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. Sunday at Orphans cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Eastman, Ga., with Dr. Guy Maddox Jr. and the Rev. Warren Stuckey officiating. Entombment was in White Marble Mausoleum, Orphans cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Stuckey, a native of Dodge County, Ga., was a longtime resident of Aiken County. He had retired from United Merchants Corp. as an engineer after 47 years of service. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church, Augusta.

Survivors include his wife, Nina Piper Stuckey; a son, Ben R. Stuckey, North Augusta; a daughter, Vivia S. Mattox, King George, Va.; a sister, Ina Mercer, Macon; and five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Eddie Weems

Retired truck driver

THOMSON -- Mr. Eddie Weems, 72, of 201 Third St., died Sunday, Feb. 9, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at noon Wednesday at Zoah Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Wilkes County, with the Rev. Kenneth Griffin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Weems, a native of Wilkes County, had lived in McDuffie County most of his life and had retired from Culpepper Lumber Co. as a truck driver. He was an Army veteran and a member of Zoah Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.

The family will receive friends the residence or at Thomson Funeral System.

Dr. Mari Cook

Teacher

Dr. Mari Noelle Cook, 60, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Trinity On-The-Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Jones officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.

Dr. Cook, a native of St. Petersburg, Fla., was a teacher and administrator with Wheeless Road Elementary School and a member of Trinity On-The-Hill United Methodist Church. She was a member of Phi Delta Kappa and Professional Association of Georgia Educators.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph H. Cook; one son, David M. Cook, Alpharetta, Ga.; one daughter, Kelli Noelle Cook McGowan, Atlanta; two brothers, Christopher Horton, Anchorage, Alaska, and Michael Horton, Pensacola, Fla.; and one grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 2:30 p.m. today at the parlor of Trinity On-The-Hill United Methodist Church.

Poteet Funeral home, Wheeler Road, is in charge of arrangements.
