Mrs. Mary James

HAMPTON, S.C. -- Mrs. Mary Elizabeth James, 57, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at Allendale County Hospital, Fairfax.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Huspah Baptist Church with the Rev. John Porter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mrs. James, a native of Hampton County, was a member of Huspah Baptist Church.

Survivors include six sons, Harry Kelly, Clifton James, Jimmy James, Irvin James and Kenneth James, all of Hampton, and Tommy Harrell, New York; three daughters, Earlene Johnson, Shirley James and Annie L. James, all of Hampton; two stepsons, Charles Williams, Varnville, and Arthur Bowers, Hampton; one stepdaughter, Denise Lee, Fairfax; one brother, James Kelly Jr., Brunson; six sisters, Leatha Jennings, Mary Singletary, Annabelle Kelly, Rosemary Kelly, Patsy Lee Kelly and Shirley Terry, all of South Carolina; and 30 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Riley's Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Bernard Kendrick

Mr. Bernard Kendrick, 40, of 711 Walton Way, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, in Vernon, Fla.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Peoples Funeral Home with the Rev. J.C. Kendrick officiating. Burial will be in Walker Memorial Park.

Mr. Kendrick was a native of Richmond County.

Survivors include his mother, Sara Frances Kendrick; six brothers, Julian Jones, David Tillman, George Lee Kendrick, James C. Kendrick, Charles Kendrick and Eddie Lee Kendrick; and two sisters, Cleola Hall and Patricia Ann Kendrick Glenn.

Pallbearers will be members of the Dozen Social and Savings Club.

Friends may call at 2529 Drayton Drive.

Peoples Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Herman O'Banner

FAIRFAX, S.C. -- Mr. Herman ``Pumpkin" O'Banner, 64, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Jerusalem Baptist Church, Cummings, with the Rev. Tony Griffin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. O'Banner, a native of Hampton County, was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Survivors include one stepdaughter, Theresa Frazier, Fairfax; two sisters, Lena B. Glover and Eliza Thompson, both of Cummings; two foster sisters, Birdie M. Ruth, Nixville, and Ether B. Doctor, Greenville; and four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Washington's Funeral Home, Hampton.

Ms. Inez Salley

MONETTA -- Ms. Inez Harris Salley, 71, of 5312 Columbia Highway, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Chinquapin Baptist Church, Batesburg, with the Rev. W.T. Stover officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Ms. Salley was a member of Chinquapin Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Eddie Harris, Monetta; one sister, Ruby H. Smith, Tallahassee, Fla.; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Davis Funeral Home, Ridge Spring, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mary Skarzinski

Homemaker

GROVETOWN -- Mrs. Mary Skarzinski, 87, of 1430 Old Louisville Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at Columbia Augusta Medical Center.

The funeral will be private at Sacred Heart of Jesus, Baltimore. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mrs. Skarzinski, a native of East Vandergrift, Pa., was a homemaker and a Catholic.

Survivors include two sons, William V. Skarzinski, Naples, Fla., and John S. Skarzinski, Grovetown; and seven grandchildren.

Starling Funeral Home, Harlem, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ada Smith

MIDVILLE, Ga. -- Mrs. Ada Smith, 61, died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at Bulloch Memorial Hospital, Statesboro.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Mount Gilead Baptist Church with the Revs. Jethro Harden and David Reddick officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mrs. Smith, a native of Emanuel County, was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church, where she was in the choir and served as a deaconess.

Survivors include her husband, Ulysee Smith Sr.; five sons, Ulysee Smith Jr. and Donald Smith, both of Midville, Leon Smith and Jerry Smith, both of Jacksonville, Fla., and Larry Smith, Twin City; four daughters, Gloria Jean Wright, Garfield, Adline Kirkland, Lexsy, Eula Mae Smith, Midville, and Annie White, Seabaster, Fla.; two brothers, Harry Dent Jr. and Orlando Dent, both of Saginaw, Mich.; two sisters, Delores D. Nicholas, Baltimore, and Edith Mae Scott, Grand Rapids, Mich.; and 31 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mosley's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bonnie Strom

NORTH AUGUSTA -- Mrs. Bonnie Lynn Strom, 48, of 5 White Oak Drive, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Rowland Funeral Home with the Revs. Warren Ashmore and Martha Ebel officiating. Burial will be in Pineview Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Strom, a native of Savannah, was a teacher at Jackson Middle School and a member of Belvedere United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald Strom; one son, Adam Strom, North Augusta; two daughters, Brandie Strom and Stacie Wilson, both of North Augusta; and her mother, Joyce L. Bazemore, North Augusta.

Pallbearers will be Scott Wilk, Kenny Skinner, Allan Timmons, Joe Evans, Steve Gindlesperger and Walter Davis.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Cards.

Mr. Lawrence Weimar

LARGO, Fla. -- Mr. Lawrence Joseph Weimar, 60, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at the Monastery of the Glorious Ascension, Resaca, Ga. Burial will be in the monastery cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Weimar was a native of New York.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Smith, Aiken; two sons, Maximos ``Lewis" Weimar, Resaca, and Lawrence Weimar, Augusta; one daughter, Laurie Frazier, North Augusta; his mother, Laura Weimar, Largo; two brothers, James Weimar, Mantauk, N.Y., and Charles Weimar, Centereach, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 11 a.m. today at the monastery.

Mrs. Betty Faulkner

GULFPORT, Miss. -- Mrs. Betty Jean Faulkner of 1900 Switzer Road died Friday, Feb. 13, 1998.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Pentecostal Church, Grovetown. Burial will be in Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Faulkner, a native of Gulfhammock, Fla., was a homemaker and a member of First Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Karen Jean Adams, Biloxi; her mother, Irma Watkins, Augusta; one brother, Robert Watkins, Grovetown; three sisters, Florene Williams, Bartow, Fla., Minnie Green, Augusta, and Naomi Black, Simpsonville, S.C.; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Terry Green, Timmy Green, Tony Green, Ricky Williams, Gary Black and Randy Bohannon.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road.

Mrs. Mary Allen

Retired security classification assistant

AIKEN -- Mrs. Mary Dougher Allen, 77, of 502 Highland Park Terrace, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church with the Rev. Michael Rowell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mrs. Allen, a native of Clifftop, W.Va., had lived in Aiken since 1967. She had retired as a security classification assistant and had worked for the Department of Energy, the Atomic Energy Commission and the Energy Research and Development Administration for 33 years. She volunteered with ACTS and as a church receptionist at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church. She was a member of St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy M. Allen, Aiken; and a sister, Perry D. Falls, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Leroy Deaton, Tommy Caldwell, S.M. Pepper, Lee Hughes, Bill Townsend and Mack Hanna.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Daughters of the King of St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church.

Memorials may be made to St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church Building Fund.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Shellhouse Funeral Home.

Mr. Hoyt Black

Retired merchant

JOHNSTON, S.C. -- Mr. Hoyt Henry Black, 88, of 505 McCreight St., died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998, at Saluda Nursing Center.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Johnston United Methodist Church with the Revs. Paul Frey and Keith Polk officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.

Mr. Black, a native of Batesburg, had retired as a merchant. He was a Mason and a member of Masonic Kadosh Lodge No. 181, and Johnston United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Hoyt Henry Black Jr., Johnston; a brother, Carl Y. Black, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Pat Black, Johnny Wise, Francis Miller, Richard Turner, Tommy Rankin, Marion Wise, Elbert Rhoden and Ron League.

Memorials may be made to Johnston United Methodist Church or Hospice of the Piedmont, Greenwood Medical Center, Greenwood, SC 29646.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bland Funeral Home.
