Mrs. Georgia Edwards

AIKEN -- Mrs. Georgia Edwards, 104, of 130 Hampton Ave. N.W., died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998, at Beverly Health and Rehab Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Alf Mills officiating. Burial will be in Jessamine Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Edwards, a native of Aiken, was a retired seamstress and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Survivors include three nieces, Marie Radden, Aiken, Hessie Fisher, Washington, and Rosa Lee Jones, Florida.

Friends may call at the residence of Marie Radden, 130 Hampton Ave. N.W.; 2 p.m. today at Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home; or from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Friendship Baptist Church.

Mrs. Louella Elliott

Olympia Mills retiree

BATH -- Mrs. Louella Stewart Elliott, 79, of 211 Bandy Drive, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Clifton Stancel officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Langley.

Mrs. Elliott, a native of Great Falls, was retired from Olympia Mills, Columbia, and was a member of Faith Baptist Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher for the junior class.

Survivors include one stepson, John Elliott, Rock Hill; one stepdaughter, Margaret Brannan, Heath Springs; and one sister, Mildred Henderson, Bath.

Pallbearers will be Michael Arant III, Ronald Arant, Kenneth Eddy, Bobby Henderson, Drake Winkler and Wayne Henderson.

Friends may call at the residence of Mildred Henderson, 211 Bandy Drive; or from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley.

Mrs. Helen Fisher

Registered nurse

Mrs. Helen E. Fisher, 77, died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Andrew T. Doris officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Fisher, a native of New Bedford, Mass., was a registered nurse. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Her family said: ``Mom, we love you. Courageous, self-sacrificing, determined, strong of will. You raised your children well. We will miss you terribly."

Survivors include a son, Richard A. Fisher, Chesapeake, Va.; a daughter, Barbara Elaine Arnold, Greensboro, N.C.; a sister, Jane Peters, Port Charolette, Fla.; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2607 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, GA 30906.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Poteet Funeral Home, Peach Orchard Road, with the a rosary service at 6 p.m.

Mrs. Nell Harrison

Homemaker

Mrs. Nell Brantley Harrison, 95, of 2244 Broad St., died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Revs. Gordon Robinson and C.A. Dabney officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Harrison, a native of Tennille, Ga., was a homemaker and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where she was a member of Dabney Sunday School Class, morning prayer group, women's missionary union and Young at Heart Senior Adults, and was a charter member of the ladies auxiliary of the Augusta Rescue Mission.

Survivors include one son, W.J. Harrison, Pasadena, Texas; one daughter, Dorothy H. Masters, Augusta; and 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be James Key, Cecil B. Smith, Jack Cox, Al Blanchard Jr., Ronnie Robinson and Robert Duggar.

Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 3045 Deans Bridge Road, Augusta, GA 30906; or the Augusta Rescue Mission, 526 Walker St., Augusta, GA 30901.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road.

Mrs. Annie Kirkland

Jockey International retiree

MILLEN, Ga. -- Mrs. Annie Laura Thigpen Kirkland, 69, of 417 Park Ave., died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, at Jenkins County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Paynes Chapel Methodist Church with the Revs. D.R. Parker and Mike Andrews officiating. Burial will be in Paynes Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Kirkland, a native of Jenkins County, was retired as a relief machine operator with Jockey International. She was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, F.A. Kirkland Jr. and Kenneth Kirkland, both of Millen, and Sebron Kirkland, Hephzibah; one daughter, Sally Kirkland, Millen; one brother, Wilbur Thigpen, Harlem; three sisters, Thelma Lane, Millen, Hazel Jackson, Statesboro, and Nell Kee, Richmond Hill; and 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her nephews.

Friends may call at the residence or until 1 p.m. Tuesday at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Nettie Lucas

Homemaker

GRANITEVILLE -- Mrs. Nettie Hall Lucas, 95, of 80 Canal St., died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, at Pepper Hill Nursing Center, Aiken.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church with the Revs. Robert Wells and Harold Herd officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Langley.

Mrs. Lucas, a native of Lexington, was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a member of Hattie Gardner Sunday School Class.

Survivors include two daughters, Emma L. Ready, Graniteville, and Margree F. Love, Orangeburg; one sister, Ruth Adams, Evans; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Friends may call at the residence or Napier Funeral Home.

Mr. Millard Norwood

Military retiree

NORTH AUGUSTA -- Mr. Millard W. Norwood, 64, of 4821 Augusta Road, died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998, at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley, with the Rev. John Bolin officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Langley.

Mr. Norwood, a native of Belton, had lived in North Augusta 22 years. He had retired as owner of Clearwater Transmission and was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War who retired after 22 years of service. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Nora Timms Norwood; three sons, Perry Norwood and Michael Norwood, both of North Augusta, and Steven Norwood, Gaston; two daughters, Debra Walls and Donna Walls, both of Beaufort; four sisters, Mamie Sue Duncan, Delores Brooks and Patricia Williams, all of Belton, and Jane Ables, Honea Path; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of a military honor guard.

Memorials may be made to Clearwater First Baptist Church, P.O. Box B, Clearwater, SC 29822; or to the American Heart Association, 1003 Hammond Road, Aiken, SC 29803.

Mrs. Clara Prescott

ROSSVILLE, Ga. -- Mrs. Clara Prescott died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Richard and Stanley Funeral Home, Wrightsville, with the Rev. Christi Brandy officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, Wrightsville.

Mrs. Prescott, a native of Hamilton, was a homemaker and a member of Arline Chapel Methodist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Juanette Nelson, Roswell; one sister, Nell Murphy, Tampa, Fla.; and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Matt Shank

Uniroyal Inc. retiree

THOMSON -- Mr. Matt Shank, 70, of 348 Marshall Church Road, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, at McDuffie County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Winns Oliver African Methodist Episcopal Church, Norwood, with the Rev. Johnnie Mae Hunter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Shank, a native of McDuffie County, was retired from Uniroyal Inc. and was an Army veteran. He was a member of Jones Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Harlem.

Friends may call at the residence of Larry and Camilla Collins, Marshall Church Road, or at Thomson Funeral System.

Mrs. Evelyn Simmons

Retired DFCS director

WAYNESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Evelyn Godbee Simmons, 86, of 509 Anthony Road, died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church of Waynesboro with the Revs. Tommy McCook and Robert C. Daniel officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.

Mrs. Simmons, a native of Burke County, was retired as director of the Department of Family and Children's Services. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Joy Circle.

The family said that after retiring, she spent her time fishing and enjoying her family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, James A. Simmons III, Statesboro, and Brigham R. Simmons, Douglasville; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Rob Holton, Bobby Fulcher, Lamar Murray, Joe Law, Dub Harper, David Hogan, Tommy Morgan and Freddie Yelton.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Buckhead Hunting Club.

Memorials may be made to the Joy Circle, First United Methodist Church, 802 Liberty St., Waynesboro, GA 30830.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road; and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church.
