Mrs. Anna Watts

GROVETOWN -- Mrs. Anna Lee Watts, 63, of 109 Booker St., died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Powell Baptist Church, Harlem, with the Rev. Randall Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Watts, a native of Jackson, Ky., was a homemaker and a member of Powell Baptist Church, the America Humane Society and Save the Whales.

Survivors include three sons, Clark Watts, Carter Watts and Clint Watts, all of Grovetown; one daughter, Cathy Watts Ray, Grovetown; one brother, Amos Combs, Peru, Ind.; one sister, Helen Watts, Peru; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be James Nichols, Kent Nichols, Rick Culpepper, Ricky Craig, Stewart Ray and Richard Wiggins.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Powell Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Poteet Funeral Home, Wheeler Road.

Rev. Kenneth Williams

Retired minister

The Rev. Kenneth McKay Williams died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Telfair Street, with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Burial will be in West View cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

The Rev. Williams, a native of Augusta, was a graduate of Fruitland Bible Institute. He had retired as a minister and as an insurance agent, and was the former pastor of Liberty Baptist Church, Henderson, N.C., and Warrior Mount Baptist Church, Saluda, S.C. He co-founded the Westside Mission, which grew into Pine View Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran and a Baptist.

Survivors include two sons, Donnie M. Williams, Inman, S.C., and Bradford Williams, Thomson; two daughters, Patricia Ann Jordan, Cowpens, S.C., and Lois Lunsford, Thomson; a brother, Lyman Williams, Georgia; and 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Joseph ``Joe" Ruffin of 2039 Leona St. died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Christian Fountain Baptist Church with the Rev. Radford Roundtree officiating. Burial will be in Southview cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Anthony ``Tony" Ruffin, Germany; two daughters, Barbara R. Clayton and Brenda Ruffin, both of St. Petersburg, Fla.; his mother, Emma Ruffin, Augusta; four brothers, Elijah Ruffin and Willie B. Ruffin, both of Columbus, Ohio, Arthur Ruffin, Lithonia, Ga., and John P. Ruffin, Hephzibah; and eight sisters, Lillie M. Davis and Mary Hailey, both of Columbus, Rosa Boyd and Thomasena Taylor, both of Waynesboro, Ga., Peggy Hewitt, Hephzibah, Patricia Cousin and Emma T. Ruffin, both of Augusta, and Annie Hilton, North Augusta.

Peoples Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Samuel Ryans Sr.

BEECH ISLAND -- Mr. Samuel ``Sammie" Ryans Sr. of 1881 Williston Road died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry Ingram officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Ryans, a native of Aiken County, was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lula Mae Ryans; one son, Frank Ryans; two daughters, Mary Jane Ingram and Estell Ryans; and eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Marion Stalling, Richard Sanders, Warren Arron, Lewis Watkins, Ernest Roundtree and James Ray Harrison.

Friends may call at the residence.

Mr. Raymond Bragg

SYLVANIA, Ga. -- Mr. Raymond Bragg of 1141 Winchester Road died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at Screven County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Antioch Christian Church with the Revs. Billy Bennett and Clayton Weathers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Bragg, a native of Screven County, was a farmer and had retired as a supervisor with Sylvania Garment. He had worked at White Stag Manufacturing Co. and Thomson Co. He was a Mason.

Survivors include one daughter, Shirley B. McClellan, Waynesboro; one brother, Brantley Bragg, Twin City; four sisters, Dolly B. Blackmon, Melbourne, Fla., Delia B. McBride and Ina McMillan, both of Sylvania, and Medeleine B. Dunaway, Rincon; and two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Greg Durrence, Bob McBride, Jay Seals, Carlos Bragg, Malcolm McBride, Steve Burke, Michael McClellan, Ricky Blackburn and James Bragg.

Memorials may be made to Antioch Christian Church, Building Fund, c/o Brenda Durrence, 1661 Winchester Road, Sylvania, GA 30467; or the Alzheimer's Association, Augusta Chapter, 1899 Central Ave., Augusta, GA 30904.

AIKEN -- Ms. Georgie Lee Cook, 89, of 1629 S. Boundary Ave., died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at Mattie C. Hall Health Care Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Aiken, with the Revs. Fred W. Andrea III and Jack Hasty officiating. Burial will be in Tabernacle Baptist Church cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Ms. Cook, a native of Wagener, was a retired waitress and a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of Missionary Circle and Triple L Sunday School Class.

Survivors include three brothers, Pope Cook, Aiken, Roy Cook, Savannah, and Merritt Nimmons, Columbia; and two sisters, Louise Gregory and Mary Moyer, both of Aiken.

Pallbearers will be Robert Cook, William Cook, Steven Cook, Andrew Cook, Neil Moyer, Woody Gregory, Billy Gregory and Danny Gregory.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Triple L Sunday School Class.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 3157, Aiken, SC 29802.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at George Funeral Home, Park Avenue.

Mr. Raymond Darnell

SALUDA, S.C. -- Mr. Raymond Darnell, 81, of Route 2, died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at Providence Hospital, Columbia.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Good Hope Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Darnell, a native of Greenwood County, was a farmer and the former owner and operator of Darnell Fabrics. He was a retired safety officer with Self Memorial Hospital and a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Robert T. Darnell, Fayetteville, N.C., and David A. ``Tony" Darnell, Saluda; one daughter, Patricia Darnell Hawkins, Charleston; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Ramey Funeral Home.
