Mrs. Dorothy Turner

SWAINSBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Dorothy P. Turner, 67, of 213 Lincoln St., died Monday, March 2, 1998, at Emanuel Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Outlaw Grove Baptist Church, Soperton, with the Rev. Lee Wright officiating. Burial will be in Pendleton Spring cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mrs. Turner, a native of Treutlen County, was a retired sewing finisher, and a member of Outlaw Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include five sons, Dwight Turner, Alton Turner and Earl Turner, all of Swainsboro, and Colen Turner and Wendell Turner, both of Wadley; one daughter, Margaret Williams, Swainsboro; four sisters, Emma Collins and Annie Greene, both of Soperton, Mattie M. Burton, Belle Glade, Fla., and Pauline White, Augusta; and 14 grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Clifton Akins, Van Wadley, Willie Lockett, LeVon Mincey, Alfred Phillips and Caroll Bostic.

Friends may call at the residence of Margaret Williams.

Reno Tapley Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bonnie Williams

LANGLEY -- Mrs. Bonnie Kneece Williams, of 18 Buckskin Court, died Thursday, March 5, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

Mrs. Louise Brooks

Retired waitress

GIBSON, Ga. -- Mrs. Louise Newsome Brooks, 79, of 854 Jaycee St., died Saturday, March 7, 1998, at McDuffie County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Gibson Church of God with the Rev. Richard Kitchens officiating. Burial will be in Bethel United Methodist Church cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mrs. Brooks, a native of Glascock County, was a retired waitress and a member of Gibson Church of God.

Survivors include a daughter, Nora L. Johnson, Gibson; and three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be James Millwood, Lester Newsome, Ricky Washington, Lester Hadden, Charles Hadden and Danny Benkoski.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Sheppard Funeral Home.

Mr. William Camp Jr.

Retired manufacturer's representative

MARIETTA, Ga. -- Mr. William Ray Camp Jr., of 340 Woodstone Drive, died Saturday, March 7, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital, Atlanta.

A memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Patterson's Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Harlem Memorial cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Harlem, with the Rev. Wayne Smith officiating.

Mr. Camp, a native of Monroe, Ga., was a 1944 graduate of The Citadel and a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology. He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired from service with the rank of first lieutenant. He was a retired self-employed manufacturer's representative. He was a member of the Alpha Pi Mu Industrial Engineering Society and the Quaker Atlanta Friends Meeting. He was a former state delegate for the Republican party.

Survivors include his wife, Polly P. Camp; and one son, John Ray Camp, Atlanta.

Memorials may be made to the National Audubon Society c/o Rebecca Bell, Director, Little Cumberland Turtle Project, P.O. Box 13127, Jekyll Island, GA 31527, or to Northside Hospice.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Starling Funeral Home, Harlem.

Mr. Achille Collins Sr.

Retired security patrolman

HILDA, S.C. -- Mr. Achille S. Collins Sr., 79, died Friday, March 6, 1998, in Columbia.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Hilda First Baptist Church with the Revs. Dan Johnson and John Nixon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Collins, a native of Barnwell County, had retired from DuPont at the Savannah River Plant as a security patrolman and was a member of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Association. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Hilda First Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Emory Collins and Achille Collins Jr., both of Hilda, Willie Howell Collins, Clarendon, N.C., and Ted Collins Sr., Cope; two daughters, Jeanette Phillips and Becky Bozard, both of Hilda; four brothers, Everon Collins and Joe Collins, both of Hilda, and Everette Collins and Theron Collins, both of Barnwell; one sister, Betty C. Sandifer, Denmark; and 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Mole Funeral Home, Barnwell.

Mrs. Maxie Collins

Retired seamstress

PORTAL, Ga. -- Mrs. Maxie McNear Collins, 87, died Friday, March 6, 1998, at Bulloch Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Joiner-Shepard Funeral Home, Statesboro, with the Revs. Ray Jenkins and Elmer Fountain officiating. Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Collins, a native of Bulloch County, was retired from the Thomson Co., Millen, as a seamstress. She was a member of Bulloch County Young At Heart, and of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Women's Missionary Union.

Survivors include a son, Doy Collins, Jonesboro; two daughters, Dorothy C. Gay, Millen, and Bonnie C. Hendrix, Portal; one sister, Louise Sheppard, Savannah; and 13 grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 2285 Oak Grove Church Road, Portal, GA 30450.

Mrs. Betty Daley

Mrs. Betty Ruth Daley, 71, of 1434 Pendleton Road, died Friday, March 6, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Platt's Funeral Home, Crawford Avenue, with Dr. J. Andrew Menger officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.

Mrs. Daley, a native of Florida, was a homemaker and an Episcopalian.

Survivors include her husband, John J. Daley; a daughter, Jeanne Dickerson, Augusta; one brother, Billy Mathis, Ray City, Ga.; and one grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Henry Dixon

HARRISON, Ga. -- Mr. Henry Dixon, 69, of 250 N. Railroad Ave., died Thursday, March 5, 1998, at Washington County Regional Medical Center, Sandersville.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Harrison Spring Baptist Church with the Rev. Marvis Hightower officiating. Burial will be in Harrison cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Dixon, a native of Washington County, was a logger.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie Pearl Dixon; a son, Franklin Dixon, Tennille; four daughters, Mattie Ann Dixon, Claudine Dixon and Ruby Barlow, all of Harrison, and Inez Dixon, Tennille; two brothers, Huey Dixon, Miami, and Forest Dixon, Bridgeton, N.J.; two sisters, Lillian Hines, Harrison, and Catherine Rolling, Tennille; a stepbrother, M.C. Hines, Macon; two stepsisters, Elizabeth Wallace and Mattie P. Dixon, both of St. Louis; and 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Sandersville, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Charles Emerson

Savannah River Site retiree

AIKEN -- Mr. Charles William Emerson, 68, died Saturday, March 7, 1998, at his residence.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas A. Evatt officiating. Burial will be private.

Mr. Emerson, a native of Findlay, Ohio, was retired from the Savannah River Site. He was a 1977 graduate of The Citadel and a Navy retiree. He was a member of the Academy of Lifelong Learning and St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine J. Emerson; two sons, Christopher Emerson and Matthew Emerson; one daughter, Kathleen Lambert; one brother, Robert Emerson; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Life Center of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, 219 York St. S.E., Aiken, SC 29801 or to Hitchcock Hospice, 721 Richland Ave. W., Aiken, SC 29801.
