Mrs. Josephine Eubanks

BATH -- Mrs. Josephine G. Eubanks, 72, of 961 Storm Branch Road, died Saturday, March 7, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. W.R. Givens officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mrs. Eubanks, a native of Aiken County, was a homemaker and a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church.

The family said she was a very loving and kindhearted woman, who gave tirelessly to her family. She was an extremely good mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and friend. She will be missed and remembered in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.

Survivors include one son, James A. Eubanks, Clearwater; two daughters, Ernestine E. McClendon, Bath, and Josephine G. Green, Aiken; one brother, Charlie Highsmith, Charleston; two sisters, Julia Butler, Jacksonville, Fla., and Martha Hall, Clearwater; and 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be William Barnes, Earl Butler, David McKie, Ernest Lind, Mitch Isaac, Robert Bankston, John Greenwood and Edward Greenwood.

Friends may call at the residence or Cheatham Funeral Home, Langley.

The family will receive friends at noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Jack Farnsworth

Retired businessman

GASTONIA, N.C. -- Mr. Jack Furman Farnsworth, 81, of 1215 Hillside Drive, died Friday, March 6, 1998, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

The funeral was at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Rammy E. Lybrand Jr. officiating. Burial was in Gaston Memorial Park cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Farnsworth, a native of Gastonia, was a graduate of Furman University. He had retired as owner and president of Farnsworth Enterprises, had owned the Gaston County Minor League Baseball Club, and was a former vice president and executive committee chairman of the South Atlantic League. He received the 1978 Baseball Executive of the Year Award. He was a member of the Gaston Country Club and Sportsman's Club of Gastonia, and a former member of the Kiwanis Club and the Optimists Club. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanine ``Nina" Lamoureux Farnsworth; a son, Daniel J. Farnsworth, Greenville, S.C.; two daughters, Anne F. Grant, Belvedere, and Jacqueline F. Hizel, Fayetteville, Ga.; three sisters, Nellie Farnsworth and Emma F. Carver, both of Greenville, and Julie Farnsworth-Snyder, Columbia; and nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons.

Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 805 S. York St., Gastonia, NC 28052.

Mrs. Thelma Fender

Homemaker

WILLISTON, S.C. -- Mrs. Thelma Grooms Fender, 89, of Woodland Drive, died Monday, March 9, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Williston First Baptist Church with Dr. Nathan Roland and the Revs. Jimmy Hanf and Paul Pridgen officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. at Lanes Baptist Church, Stilson, Ga.

Mrs. Fender, a native of Bulloch County, Ga., was a homemaker. She was a member of Williston First Baptist Church and a former member of North Charleston Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, William F. Fender, Williston; and two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 86, Williston, SC 29853.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Folk Funeral Home.

Mrs. Maria Figueroa

Homemaker

Mrs. Maria Figueroa, 54, of 3509 Trudyshire Drive, died Monday, March 9, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road, with the Rev. Jose Robles officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Figueroa, a native of Puerto Rico, was a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal Church of God.

Survivors include her husband, Nicolas Cruz; two daughters, Maria Negron and Abeigail Orthoraza, both of Augusta; four brothers, Ruben Figueroa, Florida, Luiz Figueroa, Puerto Rico, Ramon Figueroa, Arizona, and Wilfred Figueroa, California; four sisters, Carmen Figueroa and Elena Figueroa, both of Florida, Jwana Figueroa, New York, and Mary Figueroa, Puerto Rico; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Elizabeth Garrett

Homemaker

WARRENTON, Ga. -- Mrs. Elizabeth Giles Garrett, 82, of 404 Johnson St., died Sunday, March 8, 1998, at Newton General Hospital, Covington.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mabel Foster officiating. Burial will be in Sally Hill cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mrs. Garrett, a native of Washington County, was a homemaker and taught music in the public schools and to private pupils. She was a 50-year member of the Burkhalter chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of the Federated Music Club and First United Methodist Church, where she was church organist, sang in the choir and was a member of the Methodist Women.

Survivors include a son, George Garrett, Miami; a daughter, Patricia Haymore, Covington; and four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Harold Gladin, Sam Giles, Andrew Giles, Bill Shubert, Emile Carr and Warren Jackson.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Burkhalter chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at James and Lowe Funeral Home.

Mr. Thomas Hankerson Sr.

Retired ophthalmology technician

Mr. Thomas E. Hankerson Sr., 68, of 3606 Bimini Place, died Saturday, March 7, 1998.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Thankful Baptist Church with the Rev. Gregory Young officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Hankerson, a native of Augusta, had retired as an ophthalmology technician. He was a member of The Bunch and the Haines Alumni Association. He was a member of Thankful Baptist Church, where he served on the board of trustees, the board of deacons and as assistant superintendent of the Sunday school.

His family said he was admired and respected by the many people he knew.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice W. Hankerson; three sons, Thomas Hankerson Jr., Karl V. Hankerson and Reginald D. Coleman; two daughters, Adrienne Walker and Vilma C. Allen; a brother, Benjamin Hankerson Jr.; three sisters, Janie Lowe, Laura Baker and Mary Frances Braithwaite; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Bonds, John Gilcrest, Willie Hammond, William McCauley, Raymond Whigham and Charles Wilburn.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of The Bunch and Haines Alumni Association.

Memorials may be made to the Aplastic Anemia Foundation, P.O. Box 613, Annapolis, MD 21404.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Dent's Undertaking Establishment.

Miss Noah Johnson

AIKEN -- Miss Noah Ann Johnson, 19, of 568 Toby Extension, died Saturday, March 7, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rosa Hill Baptist Church, Wagener, with the Rev. Wilbur J. Simmons officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Miss Johnson, a native of Augusta, had lived in Aiken most of her life. She was a 1997 graduate of South Aiken High School and a freshman at the University of South Carolina Aiken. She was a cashier at Arby's Restaurant and a member of Rosa Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Terrell Johnson, Aiken; her parents, Ronnie L. Patterson and Jeanette J. Patterson, Aiken; three brothers, Ronnie Patterson, Lynon Hall Jr. and Herbert Johnson, all of Aiken; three sisters, Jessica Johnson, Selena Hall and Armetha Hall, all of Aiken; her paternal grandparents, Leon Patterson and Emma Patterson, Aiken; and her maternal grandmother, Helen Hicks, Aiken.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Richardson, Jertoby Robinson, Eddie Turner, Michael Tyler, Frankie Stroman and James Washington.

Friends may call at the residence, after 2 p.m. today at Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home and from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Mrs. Inez McCoy

Homemaker

GIBSON, Ga. -- Mrs. Inez Kitchens McCoy, 79, of 116 E. Main St., died Sunday, March 8, 1998, at McDuffie County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Sheppard Funeral Home with Dr. Gary Hadden officiating.

Mrs. McCoy, a native of Glascock County, was a homemaker and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Her family said she was a very special person who was loved dearly by her family and friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Diane Trotter, Chattanooga, Tenn., and Horacette Yost, Milledgeville; two brothers, Bill Kitchens, Gibson, and Vinson Kitchens, Porterdale; three sisters, Louise Knowles and Carolyn Williams, both of Augusta, and Polly Locke, Dublin; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Barbara Moran

Teacher

Mrs. Barbara Lyons Moran, 61, died Sunday, March 8, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with the Rev. Giles LeVasseur officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, White Plains, N.Y.

Mrs. Moran, a native of Dayton, Ohio, graduated from Augusta State University. She taught English and writing at Westchester Community College and at Pace University, Westchester County, N.Y., at Day School, New York, at School for Fine Arts, Augusta, at the Georgia Military College and in the preschool program at Warren Baptist Church. She was co-founder and president of Jolly Dolly Publishing Co., a textbook publishing firm. She was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Philip R. Moran, Augusta; a son, Robert Moore, Dickson, Tenn.; two daughters, Sara Sieber, Matthews, N.C., and Judith Silberquit, Mohapac, New York; a stepson, Joseph P. Moran, Greenburgh, N.Y.; three stepdaughters, Tery Moran Lever, Northfield, N.J., Angela Connolly, Stamford, Conn., and Lauren Moran, New Paltz, N.Y.; her stepmother, Dorothy Lyons, Lexington, Ky.; two half sisters, Pauline Applegate, Trinity, Ky., and Janeen Lyons, Lexington; and 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 2260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA 30904.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, Martinez.

Mrs. Lynne Moseley

Schoolteacher

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Mrs. Lynne Heffner Moseley, 40, died Saturday, March 7, 1998.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Duluth First United Methodist Church, Duluth, with Dr. Stuart Green and the Rev. Betty Castellani officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Burke Memorial Gardens, Waynesboro.

Mrs. Moseley, a native of Perth Amboy, N.J., graduated from the University of Georgia. She was a schoolteacher at Fernbank Elementary School for five years, at St. Andrews Preschool for several years and at Walnut Grove Elementary School. She was a member of Duluth First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Steve Moseley; a son, Benjamin John Moseley, Lawrenceville; a daughter, Jennifer Ruth Moseley, Lawrenceville; her parents, Ted Heffner and Peggy Heffner, Tucker; two brothers, Richard Heffner, Buford, and John Heffner, Sandy Springs; a sister, Anne May, Dacula; and her grandmother, Sara McDonald, Decatur.

Memorials may be made to DeKalb Medical Center Cancer Survivors Fund, 2701 N. Decatur Road, Decatur, GA 30033.
