Mrs. Annie Lamb

HARLEM -- Mrs. Annie Bell Lamb, of 305 Old Milledgeville Road, died Thursday, March 12, 1998, at University Hospital, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Water Branch Baptist Church, Grovetown, with the Rev. L.J. Tanksley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mrs. Lamb, a native of Columbia County, had retired from the Columbia County Board of Education as a cook. She was a member of Water Branch Baptist Church, where she was a member of the senior choir, the gospel choir, the F.H. Hall Choir, Clubs No. 2 and 5, the pastor's aide club and the Unlisted Club. She was a member of the Brothers and Sisters Love Society, the Banner of Love Society and the Deacon Union.

Survivors include a brother-in-law, Vernon Lamb, Augusta; a sister-in-law, Adda McCladdie; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be trustees of Water Branch Baptist Church.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Water Branch Baptist Church.

Friends may call at the residence of Mattie Johnson, 1713 Morgan St., Augusta.

Williams Funeral Home, Augusta, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Aaron Lively

Retired schoolteacher

THOMASTON, Ga. -- Mr. Aaron B. Lively, 65, of 325 Thurston Ave., died Saturday, March 14, 1998.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta, with the Revs. Keith Corley and Bill Turner officiating.

Mr. Lively, a native of Augusta, had lived in Thomaston for 32 years. He was a schoolteacher in Griffin-Spalding County public schools from 1952 to 1958 and at the Academy of Richmond County from 1958 to 1966. He was a member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Martha Turner and Georgia Kent, both of Jacksonville, Fla.

Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Effie Lyle

Retired clerk

UNION POINT, Ga. -- Ms. Effie Lyle, 101, of 205 Newsome St., died Monday, March 16, 1998, at Greene Point Health Care Services.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Callaway Funeral Home with the Rev. David Key officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Ms. Lyle, a native of Jackson County, had retired from Sears, Roebuck and Co. as a clerk. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Union Point.

Survivors include a brother, Jimmy Lyle, Ocala, Fla.

Pallbearers will be deacons of First Baptist Church.

Friends may call at from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Marjorie McLin

Retired postal clerk

NORTH AUGUSTA -- Mrs. Marjorie McLin, of 403 Birch St., died Monday, March 16, 1998, at University Hospital, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley, with the Revs. Ralph Lever and Ronald Hasty officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Langley.

Mrs. McLin, a native of Aiken County, had retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk after 15 years. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include four daughters, Elaine Reese and Susan Cohn, both of North Augusta, Karen Reeves, Greenville, and Norma Lever, Lyman; a brother, Cecil T. Richardson, Augusta; and nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brad Mauldin, John Lever, Will Reeves, Chris Toole, Bill Reeves, Steve Woodington and Johnnie Hughes.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bessie Nichols

Retired bookkeeper

AIKEN -- Mrs. Bessie Taylor Nichols, 91, of 633 Redds Branch Road, died Monday, March 16, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Levels Baptist Church with the Rev. David Laird officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mrs. Nichols, a native of Aiken, had retired as a bookkeeper and accountant. She was a member of Levels Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Louise Ange, Aiken; and seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at George Funeral Home, Park Avenue.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Rachel Pettway

HEPHZIBAH -- Mrs. Rachel Pettway, 75, of 1706 Pitchwood Way, died Friday, March 13, 1998.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Alabama, with the Rev. Pettis L. Lockett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mrs. Pettway, a native of Boykin, Ala., had lived in Hephzibah for one year. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Lloyd Pettway Jr., Selma, Ala., and Teddy Pettway, Boykin; three daughters, Eula White and Caroline Pettway, both of Hephzibah, and Carolyn E. Pettway, Boykin; and nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Friends may call at W.H. Mays Mortuary, Augusta.

Mrs. Florence Ports

SARDIS, Ga. -- Mrs. Florence Ports, of 342 Ports Drive, died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at Westwood Extended Care Facility, Evans.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Asbury United Methodist Church, Alexander, with the Rev. E.C. Simmons officiating. Burial will be at New Springfield Baptist Church, Alexander.

Mrs. Ports, a native of Burke County, was a homemaker and a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene Ports Sr.; three sons, Eugene Ports Jr., Capitol Heights, Md., James V. Ports, Augusta, and Jake C. Ports, Alexander; four daughters, Florence Brown and Annette Ports, both of Augusta, Annie Louise Haynes, Millen, and Josephine Abrams, Keysville; three brothers, Henry McGee Sr., Girard, Hills McGee Sr., Augusta, and James M. McGee, Rialto, Calif.; and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.

Friends may call Wednesday until noon at Phinazee and Son Funeral Home, Waynesboro, and from noon to 2 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Miley Priester

AIKEN -- Mrs. Miley S. Priester, 102, of 1905 Park Ave. S.E., died Friday, March 13, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Harris Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Olen Jessie officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mrs. Priester, a native of Allendale County, had lived in Aiken since 1936. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Ulmer, Mount Harris Missionary Baptist Church, Heroines of Jericho, Millbrook Court No. 107, and the Rising Sons and Daughters Society.

Survivors include five daughters, Alma Bellamy, Mary Bowers, Ella Priester, Dorothy Mae Curry and Earthy Lee Brayboy, all of Aiken; and 24 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren, 50 great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of Harmony Lodge No. 6.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.

Friends may call at the residence or after 1 p.m. today at Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Mr. W. Shellie Still

BLACKVILLE, S.C. -- Mr. W. Shellie Still, 94, of Baker Street, died Monday, March 16, 1998, at Barnwell County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Blackville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Terry officiating. Burial will be in Blackville cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Still, a native of Barnwell County, was a farmer, and had been a grocer, a fertilizer inspector for Clemson University and a field representative for Federal Crop Insurance. He was a member and deacon of Blackville First Baptist Church, where he was a former Sunday school teacher.

His family said he was married to the late Zelma Bonds Still.

Survivors include two sons, Hammond Still, Blackville, and Laverne Still, Barnwell; a daughter, Willise Keel, Barnwell; four sisters, Dorothy Shirer, Leila Whittle and Mae Kelly, all of Columbia, and Adell Creech, Williston; and eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Blackville cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 365, Blackville, SC 29817.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Folk Funeral Home, Williston.

Mrs. Alice Swiney

Homemaker

LOUISVILLE, Ga. -- Mrs. Alice ``Tot" Boyd Swiney, of 1902 U.S. Highway 1 N., died Thursday, March 12, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Hardy Bennings and King Mack officiating. Burial will be at Pine Hill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Swiney, a native of Jefferson County, was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of the Pearl E. Davis Chorus.

Survivors include two sons, Willie Lee Swiney, Louisville, and Jesse James Swiney, Reynoldsburg, Ohio; a daughter, Ella Mae Brown, Detroit; a brother, Leotis ``Duke" Boyd, Louisville; and 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons and trustees of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Garrer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
