Mrs. Iva Blanchard

DECATUR, Ga. -- Mrs. Iva Hendley Blanchard, 88, of 2806 N. Decatur Road, died Wednesday, March 25, 1998, at DeKalb Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity On-The-Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Megan D. Beverly officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.

Mrs. Blanchard, a native of Vienna, was a member of North Decatur United Methodist Church and Trinity On-The-Hill United Methodist Church, where she was a member of Smith Bible School Class.

The family said she was a loving mother and grandmother.

Survivors include one son, Charles Blanchard, Fairfax, Va.; one daughter, Joyce Baker, Tucker; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brad Baker, West Manus, Jay O'Brien, Sam Hendley, Chip Stevens, Chip Blanchard, Mike Hendley and Noel Hendley.

Memorials may be made to Peach Tree Hospice, 3600 DeKalb Technology Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30340; or North Decatur United Methodist Church Youth Group Fund, 1523 Church St., Decatur, GA 30030.

Friends may call at Poteet Funeral Home, Wheeler Road.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Miriam Boykin

Retired teacher

SYLVANIA, Ga. -- Mrs. Miriam Robarts Boykin, 85, died Wednesday, March 25, 1998, at Brown's Nursing Home, Statesboro.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Black Creek United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mrs. Boykin, a native of Screven County, had retired as a teacher in Effingham and Screven counties and was a postmistress in Halcyondale. She was a member of Newington United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Wilford E. Boykin, Milledgeville; one daughter, Phyllis B. Bazemore, Statesboro; one brother, Edward Robarts, Sylvania; one sister, Kathryn Mashburn, Canton; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bill Mashburn, Sam Mashburn, Rick Newton, Michael Boykin, Keller Newton, Allen Newton, Charles E. Lee and Richard Boykin.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1 Corporate Square, Suite 127, Atlanta, GA 30329.

Friends may call at noon at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Barry Brown

Forklift operator

WARRENTON, Ga. -- Mr. Barry Brown, 44, of 502 Phelps Drive, died Wednesday, March 25, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at William Grove Baptist Church, Warren County, with the Rev. Golden Lott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Brown, a native of Warrenton, was a forklift operator and a member of William Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Daisy Brown; two sons, Kerensky Brown, Harlem, and Ellis Larkins, Thomson; one daughter, Tunisia Few, Warrenton; his mother, Ruby Cummings, Warrenton; his stepfather, Donald Johnson, Warrenton; six brothers, William Brown, Hugh Roberts Jr. and John Neal, all of Warrenton, James Neal, Mitchell, Lamar Neal, Augusta, and Willie McCullars, Atlanta; nine sisters, Linda J. Pounds, Atlanta, Deborah Bell, Patricia Brown, Edith Dukes, Angela Myers, Sharon Cummings and Christene Kuhn, all of Warrenton, and Lizzie Latimer and Daisy Murray, both of Mitchell; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the residence or at the Dawson's Mortuary.

Mrs. Margie Cushing

GREENWOOD, S.C. -- Mrs. Margie Williams Cushing, 72, of 119 Parkwood Road, died Tuesday, March 24, 1998, at Self Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Blyth Funeral Home with the Rev. Dave Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Gilgal Baptist cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Edgefield County.

Mrs. Cushing, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Episcopal Church of the Resurrection.

Survivors include one son, William R. Cushing Jr.; one daughter, Sara C. Smith; two brothers, Guy T. Williams and T. Lewis Williams; and two sisters, Elizabeth W. Pinson and Connie W. Ferguson.

Pallbearers will be Roger C. Williams, Richard R. Williams, G. Terrell Williams, David M. Williams, Alan Williams, Brian Williams and Julius Pinson.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sarah Cutter

Retired homemaker

MILLEN, Ga. -- Mrs. Sarah Cutter, 86, of 218 Brown Ave., died Monday, March 23, 1998, at Bulloch Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hurricane Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. James Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Horse Creek cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mrs. Cutter, a native of Screven County, had retired as a homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, Wesley Cutter Jr. and James Cutter, both of Millen, and Frank Cutter, Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter, Edna Cutter, Millen; and 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Hurricane Branch Baptist Church.

Friends may call at the residence of Edna Hudson or James A. Kirkland Mortuary.

Mr. James Edward Driskell

Retired soil conservationist

NORTH AUGUSTA -- Mr. James Edward Driskell, 80, of 1819 Courtney Drive, died Wednesday, March 25, 1998, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today in McCormick cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, McCormick, with the Rev. Jim Hunter officiating.

Mr. Driskell, a native of Monticello, Ga., had retired as a soil conservationist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and was a graduate of Furman University. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Holloway Driskell; one son, James Edward Driskell II, Winter Park, Fla.; one daughter, Joan Driskell Hopkins, Gainesville, Ga.; four sisters, Elizabeth Stevens, Davenport, Iowa, Sara Bazemore, Anniston, Ala., Barbara Johnston, Signal Mountain, Tenn., and Dorothy Driskell, Chattanooga, Tenn.; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 639 Georgia Ave., North Augusta, SC 29841.

Little-Davenport Funeral Home, Gainesville, is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Susan Flinn

Waitress

NINETY SIX, S.C. -- Ms. Susan Trotter Flinn, 37, of Duke Street, died Wednesday, March 25, 1998, at Self Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. in Elmwood cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Ms. Flinn, a native of Greenwood, was a waitress and a Methodist.

Survivors include her father, H. Ervin Trotter, Hephzibah; stepmother, Margaret Trotter, Hephzibah; and one sister, June Hart, Martinez.

Pallbearers will be Claude Bussey, David Trotter, Phillip Trotter, Mike Carlton, William Forrest and John Davis.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.

Friends may call at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home, Edgefield.

Mr. Charlie Fowler

Retired teacher

THOMSON -- Mr. Charlie P. Fowler, 72, of 420 Westview Drive, died Wednesday, March 25, 1998, at University Hospital, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Thomson First Baptist Church with the Rev. James C. Elder Jr. officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Legion Memorial cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Newellton, La.

Mr. Fowler, a native of Rosehill, Miss., had retired as a teacher with Thomson High School and was a member of Thomson First Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Ava Dean Cowan Fowler; three sons, John L. Benton, West Monroe, La., Michael D. Benton, Chatsfield, Texas, and Mark T. Fowler, Jackson, Miss.; one daughter, Alandra Dean Fowler Krieger, Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Mildred Fowler Ladner, Biloxi, Miss.; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Phelps, Bill Reese, Dave Veber, Russell Gary, Bob Smith and William Wood.

Friends may call at the residence or Curtis Funeral Home.

Mr. Johnny Franklin

Retired construction worker

THOMSON -- Mr. Johnny Franklin, 64, of 858 Clemmons St., died Monday, March 23, 1998, at McDuffie County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Winns Oliver African Methodist Episcopal Church, Norwood, with the Rev. Johnnie Mae Hunter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Franklin, a native of Warren County, was retired from Miny-Town Construction Co. and was a member of Winns Oliver African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his wife, Vera Lewis Franklin; one son, Vincent Franklin, Chicago; six daughters, Essie Franklin, Josephine Brown and Yvonne Franklin, all of Washington, and Norrine Washington, Doreen Franklin and Lisa Anderson, all of Chicago; two sisters, Elizabeth Hayes and Sarah Jenkins, both of Thomson; and 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Floyd Cartledge, Victor Franklin, Larry Franklin, Clint Moss, James Cummings and Terry Franklin.
