Mr. Joseph Galbreath

Mr. Joseph T. Galbreath, 36, died Friday, April 10, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Broussard's Mortuary, Beaumont, Texas. Burial will be in Forest Lawn cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Beaumont.

Mr. Galbreath, a native of Beaumont, had lived in Augusta for five years, and owned Premier Video, Martinez. He was a Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Jayne Galbreath; three sons, Jacob Galbreath, Phillip Galbreath and Eric Galbreath, all of Augusta; a daughter, Carolynn Galbreath, Augusta; his father, John M. Galbreath, Katy, Texas; a brother, John M. Galbreath III, Beaumont; three sisters, Mary E. Laminack, Houston, Edith Copeland, Lumberton, Texas, and Marilynn Mosely, Marshall, Texas.

Memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America.

Mr. William Graves III

Retired teacher

MACON, Ga. -- Mr. William ``Bill" Alexander Graves III, 72, of 1624 Edna Place, died Sunday, April 12, 1998.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. today at West Highland Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Corbitt and Dr. Al Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Graves had lived in Macon most of his life. He had retired from Macon Technical Institute as a teacher. He was a Navy veteran and had retired after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Bibb County Exchange Club West and of Wolitin Masonic Lodge No. 390.

Survivors include his wife, LaVane H. Graves; three sons, Rusty Graves, Hartwell, Mike Graves, Jacksonville, Fla., and Harry Graves, Tampa, Fla.; a daughter, Lauri Sledge, Macon; a sister, Doris McKinney Lehn, Augusta; and eight grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to West Highland Baptist Church Building Fund, 4505 Mercer University Drive, Macon, GA 31210.

Friends may call at the residence.

Snow's Memorial Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Clarence Hepler

Retired police officer

NORTH AUGUSTA -- Mr. Clarence J. Hepler, 69, of 1196 Stephens Road, died Sunday, April 12, 1998, at University Hospital, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Poteet Funeral Home, North Augusta, with the Rev. Merle Strangway officiating. Burial will be in Pineview Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Hepler, a native of Weston, Ohio, had lived in North Augusta since 1958. He had retired from the North Augusta Department of Public Safety as a police officer after 21 years of service with the rank of lieutenant. He was a member of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Association. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

His family said he was well respected as a police officer by the community as well as by his fellow officers for his knowledge and fairness.

Survivors include four sons, Eric Hepler and Ervin Hepler, both of North Augusta, Ernest Hepler, Jackson, and Ed Hepler, Watkinsville, Ga.; a brother, Paul Hepler, Weston; and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be members of the family.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees and retirees of the North Augusta Department of Public Safety.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Eugene Holmes

Retired teacher

MARION, S.C. -- Mr. Eugene T. ``Doc" Holmes, 92, died Friday, April 10, 1998, at Jenkins Nursing Home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Canaan Baptist Church, Trenton, with the Rev. George L. Brightharp officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Holmes, a native of Aiken County, had retired as a teacher and coach after more than 45 years in Georgia and South Carolina public schools. He was a Benedict College National Alumni Association Athletic Hall of Fame inductee and a member of Alpha Psi Fraternity. He was a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a Shriner. He was a member of Mount Canaan Baptist Church and Hill Street Baptist Church, Athens.

Survivors include three brothers, Berry Holmes, Marion, Thomas Holmes, Great Neck, N.Y., and Hickman Holmes, Mullins; and two sisters, Essie McKenzie, Atlanta, and Thomasina Bouknight, Aiken.

Friends may call at the residence of Thomasina Bouknight, 528 Lincoln Ave., Aiken, or after 1 p.m. today at G.L. Brightharp and Sons Mortuary, Aiken.

Mrs. Fannie Howard

Homemaker

Mrs. Fannie Belle Crawford Howard, 99, of 2223 Wheeless Road, died Saturday, April 11, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road, with Dr. William Owens officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Howard, a native of Columbia County, was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include three daughters, Jewelle Poppell and Iris Dinkins, both of Augusta, and Louise Reynolds, Sturgeon Bay, Wis.; two brothers, Jerry Crawford, Augusta, and Thomas Crawford, Caroleen, N.C.; two sisters, Louise Murphy, North Augusta, and Alma Dinkins, Augusta; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tim Mundy, Ernie Richey, Tony Johnson, William Martin, Jimmy Crawford and Ernie Wren.

Memorials may be made to Crawford Avenue Baptist Church or to Metro Augusta Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Henrietta Jordon

Homemaker

Mrs. Henrietta C. Jordon, of 615 1/2 Johns Road, died Friday, April 10, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Dent's Undertaking Establishment with the Rev. J.C. Phinizy officiating. Burial will be in Walker Memorial Park.

Mrs. Jordon, a native of Augusta, was a homemaker and a member of St. John Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband Roy Jordon; a son, Alfreddie Crawford Sr., Augusta; a stepdaughter, Barbara Pierce, Atlanta; two brothers, Jerome Crawford and Robert Williams, both of Augusta; two sisters, Liz Henderson and Vivian Johnson, both of Augusta; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the residence of Vivian Johnson, 2009 Ellis St., or at the funeral home.

Mr. Walter Kellett

Atlantic Gulf and Pacific Co. retiree

AIKEN -- Mr. Walter B. Kellett, 86, of 3335 Wise Creek Lane, died Sunday, April 12, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

Cryptside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Langley, with the Rev. M. Eugene Mullikin officiating.

Mr. Kellett, a native of Nutley, N.J., had lived in Aiken for six months, and was a longtime Clearwater, Fla., resident. He retired from Atlantic Gulf and Pacific Co. as executive secretary and assistant treasurer after 42 years of service. He was a member of Northwood Presbyterian Church, Clearwater.

His family said he truly had heart, not unlike a father bird taking care of those around him. In retirement he enjoyed golfing in Florida and gardening at home.

Survivors include his wife, Minna Reimers Kellett; and a son, Robert Kellett, North Augusta.

Friends may call at the residence of Robert Kellett, 130 Sudlow Lake Road, North Augusta, or at Rivers Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Margaret Rourke

Retired nurse

Mrs. Margaret Partridge Rourke, 88, of 6106 Cobbham Road, Appling, died Sunday, April 12, 1998, at Carolyn's Personal Care Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Warren Baptist Church with Dr. Frank Page officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Rourke, a native of Iva, S.C., had retired from civil service at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center as a nurse. She was an Army veteran of World War II. She was a member of Warren Baptist Church, where she was a member of Naomi Ruth's Sunday School Class.

Survivors include three brothers, William C. Partridge, Augusta, R.H. Partridge Jr., North Augusta, and Allen Brown, Starr, S.C.; five sisters, Mildred Moore, Wilda Eberhart, Barbara Partridge and Dorothy Russell, all of Augusta, and Delma Baker, Starr; and two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Billy Eberhart, Preston Brown, Bobby Moore, Ralph Guilbeau, Joe Moore and Ronald Moore.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Naomi Ruth's Sunday School Class.

Memorials may be made to Warren Baptist Church Building Fund, 3203 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30907.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, Martinez.

Mr. Olin Ruff

Military retiree

CRESCENT CITY, Fla. -- Mr. Olin R. Ruff, 79, died Friday, April 10, 1998, at Columbia Putnam Medical Center, Palatka.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Clayton Frank and Sons Funeral Home with the Revs. Scott Farman and Woodrow Wyatt officiating. Burial will be in Florida National cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Bushnell.

Mr. Ruff, a native of Charleston, S.C., had lived in Florida for 30 years and in Crescent City for 13 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and retired after 27 years with the rank of lieutenant commander. He was a member and past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie Wyatt Wick Ruff; two sons, John E. Ruff and Olin Ruff Jr., both of St. Augustine; three daughters, Linda E. Back, Pomona Park, Mary Faye Dennis, Palatka, and Claudia Marie Bisso, Palmer, Alaska; a brother, Fletchie M. Ruff, Livingston, Ga.; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of a military honor guard.
