Mrs. Eva Myers

SYLVANIA, Ga. -- Mrs. Eva Crews Myers, 81, of 411 Pine St., died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at Syl-view Health Care Center.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Green Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Myers, a native of Screven County, was a retired seamstress with Whitestag Manufacturing Co. and a member of Green Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Harold R. Crews, Miami, Gene Crews, Woodbridge, Va., Carl H. Crews, Charleston, S.C., and Thomas H. Crews, New Hope, Penn.; two daughters, Shirley C. Hill, Sylvania, and Deborah L. Rooker, Rincon; two sisters, Louise Dugas and Frances Barry, both of Sylvania; and 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Melborne Godbee, Alton Crews, Gary Crews, David Crews, Joseph Rooker and Allen Hill.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home, Inc.

Mr. Tol Nicholson Jr.

Farmer

EDGEFIELD, S.C. -- Mr. Tol ``Hamp" Nicholson Jr., 64, of 143 Crest Road, died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at Self Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Amos and Sons Funeral Home, Johnston, with the Rev. Lewis Burt officiating. Burial will be in Mine Creek Baptist Church, Saluda County.

Mr. Nicholson, a native of Edgefield County, was a farmer.

Survivors include five sons, Alvin Nicholson, Trenton, Jerry Nicholson and Charles Nicholson, both of Johnston, James Herbert Nicholson, Rochester, N.Y., and John Calvin Nicholson, Edgefield; two daughters, Barbara Joan Weaver, Hattiesburg, Miss., and Bessie Elease Nicholson, Ridge Spring; one sister, Mary Talbert, Johnston; and 12 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be his sons.

Friends may call at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends at the residence.

Mrs. Anne Owens

Retired registered nurse

BARNWELL, S.C. -- Mrs. Anne Johnson Owens, 74, died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, in Columbia.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Lebanon Christian Church with the Rev. Bill Umstetter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Owens, a native of Neeces, was a retired registered nurse and former director of nursing at Barnwell County Hospital. She was a graduate of the Columbia Hospital School of Nursing and a member of Mount Lebanon Christian Church.

Survivors include one son, Manson T. Owens Jr., Williston; one daughter, Kathryn O. Gainey, Barnwell; one brother, Thomas H. ``Ham" Johnson, Winston-Salem, N.C.; one sister, Leila McCrackin, Branchville; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Leonard Beckham Jr., Odell Johnson, Joseph Huggins, William O'Quinn, Douglas Johnson and Tommy Langford.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Mole Funeral Home.

Mr. Joseph Ramsey

WASHINGTON, Ga. -- Mr. Joseph C. Ramsey, 43, of 421 Salenist St., died Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at Wills Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. James Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. L.V. Turman officiating. Burial will be in City West Cemetery.

Mr. Ramsey, a native of Wilkes County, had served in the Army.

Survivors include his wife, Hattie Ramsey; two sons, Jarvis A. Ramsey, Atlanta, and Tavaris K. Ramsey, Washington; his mother, Carrie M. Callaway, Washington; seven brothers, Mike Cofer, Atlanta, Willie Ramsey, Decatur, David Cofer, Martinez, Dennis Booker, Washington, Joe Cofer and James Cofer, both of Knoxville, Tenn., and Howard Harris, Sharon; and three sisters, Condelia Cofer and Sharon Cofer, both of Knoxville, and Freddie Campbell, Washington.

Davenport-McLendon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Nicholas Sarafin

Nicholas Ryan Sarafin, of 4326 Sun Valley Place, Martinez, died Thursday, April 16, 1998, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital.

Private graveside services will be today in Westover Memorial Park with the Rev. David Harding officiating.

Nicholas was a native of Augusta.

Survivors include his parents, Robert and Judy Sarafin, Martinez; one brother, Robert Michael Sarafin, Martinez; his paternal grandparents, Bob and Kathie Sarafin, Martinez; his maternal grandparents, Alice and Emery Whitlock, Aiken; and his paternal great-grandparents, Joseph and Lottie Patronek, Buffalo, N.Y., and Ida Thorne, Mount Pleasant, S.C.

Memorials may be made to the Children Heart Program, Medical College of Georgia Foundation, Alumni Center, 919 15th St., Augusta, GA 30912.

Poteet Funeral Home, Greene Street, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Edna Saxon

SAVANNAH -- Mrs. Edna Chance Saxon, 94, died Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital.

The funeral was Thursday at Bible Baptist Church. Burial was in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.

Mrs. Saxon, a native of Jenkins County, was a member of Bible Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Adult 10 Sunday School Class and the Senior Citizens of the Church.

Survivors include four sons, Charles Edward Saxon, Toms Brook, Va., Marvin H. Saxon and Harvey Saxon, both of Savannah, and Robert Lamar Saxon, Sylvania; two daughters, Christine S. Lamb, Savannah, and Elma S. Donaldson, Lilburn; and 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Bernard Singleton

Nursing assistant

Mr. Bernard Singleton, 35, of 1665 Garlington Ave., died Sunday, April 12, 1998, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Clarence Moore officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Singleton, a native of Richmond County, was a nursing assistant and housekeeper with Heritage House Nursing Home and a nursing assistant at Swainsboro Nursing Home. He had attended T.W. Josey High School.

Survivors include his wife, Hope S. Singleton; three sons, Bernard Singleton, Andrew Singleton and DeAngelo Singleton, all of Augusta; one daughter, Katrina Singleton, Augusta; one stepson, Robert Igartua, Augusta; one stepdaughter, Sophia Stoney, Augusta; his mother, Emma Key, Augusta; three brothers, Tony Singleton, Ronnie Butler and Arnold Lee Singleton, all of Augusta; three sisters, Edith Hankerson and Joann Lewis, both of Augusta, and Priscilla DeJesus, Texas; and his maternal grandparents, Fred and Mardus Williams, Augusta.

Pallbearers will be D.J. DeJesus, John Jordan, B.J. Hankerson, Victor DeJesus, Robert Igartua and Evans Tyrone Ramsey.

Friends may call at the residence.

Mrs. Karen Solomon

BellSouth retiree

HEPHZIBAH -- Mrs. Karen Solomon, 54, died Thursday, April 16, 1998, at University Hospital.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Solomon, a native of Fort Riley, Kan., was retired from BellSouth.

The family said Mrs. Solomon had numerous friends.

Mrs. Virginia Spaulding

DOTHAN, Ala. -- Mrs. Virginia Perry Spaulding, 74, of 309 Rebecca Ave., died Friday, April 10, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral was Monday at Byrd Funeral Home with the Rev. Van Gauthe officiating. Burial was in Friendship Cemetery, Donalsonville, Ga.

Mrs. Spaulding, a native of Vidette, Ga., was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Robert Hugh Perry, Dothan; one daughter, Ginger Graves, Vero Beach, Fla.; one brother, T.R. ``Buddy" Rowland, Vidette; a sister, Mary R. Alexander, Louisville; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Box 2127, Dothan, AL 36302.

Mrs. Rosa Turner

WADLEY, Ga. -- Mrs. Rosa Mae Ponder Turner, 79, of 1218 Lincoln Park Road, died Monday, April 13, 1998, at Columbia Augusta Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at San Clair Baptist Church with the Rev. A.C. Epps III officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Turner, a native of Louisville, was a homemaker and a member of San Clair Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Arthur Turner and Mal Chase Turner Jr., both of Philadelphia; three daughters, Rosetta Turner and Lula Bell Turner, both of Wadley, and Mary Craig, Philadelphia; three brothers, Murphy Ponder and Charlie T. Ponder, both of Wadley, and Arthur Ponder, Macon; two sisters, Hattie Sherrod, Boston, and Betty Jean Ponder, Philadelphia; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Willie Atkins, Andrew Washington, Gonice Davis, John Roger Lewis, John Willie Lewis and Willie B. Lewis.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of San Clair Baptist Church.

Friends may call at the residence of Arlene Turner, 1234 Lincoln Park Road or at Hudson Mortuary.

Mr. Gene Walker

GOUGH, Ga. -- Mr. Gene Walker, of 263 Broad St., died Friday, April 10, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rock Creek Baptist Church, Waynesboro, with the Rev. Bobby Williams Jr. officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Baptist Church Cemetery, Keysville.

Mrs. Walker, a native of Burke County, was a machine operator with Boral Bricks and a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Walker; four sons, Thomas Hall, Sims Walker and Leon Walker, all of Augusta, and Willie James Hall, Boston; three daughters, Fannie Mae Brown, Boston, Louise Rainey, Philadelphia, and Andean Walker, Gough; two brothers, Otis Walker, Augusta, and John Willie Walker, Gough; nine sisters, Lula Mae Walker and Beulah Mae Walker, both of Augusta, Pearl Walker, Wadley, Susie Walker, Allie Walker, Vera Walker, Sarah Jo Walker and Eleanor Walker, all of Gough, and Lizzie Pinkstop, Louisville; and 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of Zion Masonic Lodge No. 307.

Friends may call at the residence or Carter's Mortuary, Waynesboro.
