Mr. Merle Miller

AIKEN -- Mr. Merle Russell Miller, 82, of 1801 Dibble Road, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

Graveside services will be at Cave Hill cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Louisville, Ky., at a later date.

Mr. Miller, a native of Louisville, had lived in Aiken for 28 years, and served as master-in-equity of Aiken County for four years. He was a former lawyer and college professor, and had retired as a federal investigator. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the military police, and received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with one Bronze Star, American Theater Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star and Victory Medal. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association and Bowling Green Masonic Lodge, Bowling Green, Ky. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Aiken.

Survivors include his wife, Sara R. Miller; a son, Russell Miller, Aiken; a daughter, Patricia Sheffield, Savannah; a sister, Carolyn Lewis, Eufaula, Ala.; and one grandchild and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 384, Aiken, SC 29802.

George Funeral Home, Park Avenue, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Marie Posey

Homemaker

AIKEN -- Mrs. Marie Seigler Posey, 96, died Friday, April 17, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley, with the Rev. Bill Branch officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Graniteville.

Mrs. Posey, a native of Wagener, had lived in Aiken most of her life. She was a homemaker, a farmer and a member of Bath Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include three sons, Almond C. Posey, Langley, Francis M. Posey, Hopewell, Va., and Edward L. Posey, Ludowici, Ga.; three daughters, Esther R. Smith, Weirsdale, Fla., Vera P. McGee, Bath, and Velma P. Herthum, Waynesville, N.C.; a brother, Woodrow Seigler, Mobile, Ala.; a sister, Winnie Corbett, West Columbia; and 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joel Mundy, Daniel Mundy, Darrel Mundy, Vernon Mundy, Marion McGee and Todd Posey.

Memorials may be made to Bath Pentecostal Holiness Church, Drawer H, Bath, SC 29816.

Friends may call at the residence of Vera P. McGee, 206 Railroad St., Bath.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Albert Reynolds

TWIN CITY, Ga. -- Mr. Albert L. Reynolds, 75, of 1022 Lexsy/Stillmore Road, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at Emanuel Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Emmanuel Harvest Church, Swainsboro, with the Revs. Tim Grant and Bo Walden officiating. Burial will be in Gum Log cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Kite.

Mr. Reynolds, a native of Brooksville, Fla., was a bookkeeper for Alboma Packing Co., Lake Wales, Fla., for more than 30 years. He was a member of Emmanuel Harvest Church.

Survivors include his wife, Gina Reynolds; two sons, Caleb Reynolds, Twin City, and Jeff Hall, Lake Wales; four daughters, Hope Pitts, Swainsboro, Regina Young, Augusta, Stacy Reynolds, Macon, and Angela Hall, Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Eugene Reynolds, Anniston, Ala.; two sisters, Dorothy Walden, Kite, and Marie Coxville, Charlotte, N.C.; and 15 grandchildren.

Friends may call at Tomlinson Funeral Home, Swainsboro.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mary Sherrod

SWAINSBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Mary A. Wells Sherrod, 51, of 34 Red Oak Road, died Thursday, April 16, 1998, at Emanuel Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Willow Springs Baptist Church, Twin City, with the Rev. James Allen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mrs. Sherrod, a native of Emanuel County, was a sewing machine operator. She was a member of Willow Springs Baptist Church, Twin City, and of Jethro's Council, Swainsboro.

Survivors include a son, Terrell Sherrod, Swainsboro; two daughters, Andrea Wells and Denise Sherrod, both of Swainsboro; her mother, Dora Mae Wells, Swainsboro; five brothers, Alvin Wells, Swainsboro, John H. Wells, Clermont, Fla., Robert Wells, Oklahoma City, Riley Wells Jr., Brooksville, Fla., and Willie L. Wells, Bartow, Fla.; a sister, Dorothy Glanton, Bartow, Fla.; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Coney, Charles Alexander Wells, Darrell E. Nobles, Larry Nobles, Al C. Wells Jr., Clifton Howard, Alvin Lloyd and John Nobles.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Willow Springs Baptist Church.

Friends may call at the residence of Andrea Wells.

The family will receive friends following the service in the church social hall.

Reno Tapley Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Patricia Simpson

Ms. Patricia Ann Simpson, 52, of 1010 Carrie St., died Monday, April 13, 1998, at Salem Nursing Home.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnson Moore officiating. Burial will be in Walker Memorial Park.

Ms. Simpson, a native of Augusta, was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Loris Letitia Sanders; two brothers, Joseph Simpson and George Simpson; and four grandchildren.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Griffin Taylor

Retiree

Mr. Griffin Taylor, 76, of 1466 Tutts Ave., died Thursday, April 16, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Broadway Baptist Church with the Rev. Ella Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Southview cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Taylor, a native of Columbia, had retired from the Richmond County Board of Education. He was a member of Mount Perry Masonic Lodge No. 9. He was a member of Broadway Baptist Church, where he served on the deacon board for more than 35 years and was a former board chairman, and served on the usher board.

His family said he was a very devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a friend to men.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia Taylor; a son, Albert Taylor, Augusta; a daughter, Nora Lewis, Augusta; a brother, Sammie Johnson, Jersey City, N.J.; a sister, Inez Holmes, Brooklyn, N.Y.; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be deacons of Broadway Baptist Church.

Friends may call at the residence or at Dent's Undertaking Establishment.

Ms. Catherine Palmer

Ms. Catherine Jones Palmer, 78, died Saturday, April 18, 1998.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at All Saints Episcopal Church. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. in Magnolia cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Waynesboro, Ga.

Ms. Palmer was a former resident of Waynesboro.

Survivors include her children, Sydney M. Glass, Robert ``Tad" McCampbell and Marcia P. McCampbell; a sister, Inez Jones Watson; and five grandchildren.

Cremation Society of Georgia, Atlanta, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Evan Bozof

MARIETTA, Ga. -- Mr. Evan Bozof, 20, of 738 Robinson Farms Drive, died Monday, April 20, 1998, in Augusta.

A memorial service will be at noon today at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Columbia Road, Martinez, with Rabbi Jordan Parr officiating.

Mr. Bozof, a native of Memphis, Tenn., was an honor student in the pre-med program at Georgia Southwestern University, Americus, where he was a starting pitcher on the college baseball team, a member of the GAC All Academic Team and had earned a HOPE Scholarship.

Survivors include his parents, Alan Bozof and Lynn Bozof, Marietta; a brother, Ryan Bozof, Athens; his paternal grandparents, Morris Bozof and Gertrude Bozof, Memphis, Tenn.; and his maternal grandmother, Rose Friedman, Miami Beach, Fla.

Memorials may be made to the Evan Bozof Medical Expense Fund, c/o Sumter Bank and Trust, P.O. Box 767, Americus, GA 31709.

Ms. Estabia Burley

Ms. Estabia Catrice Burley, 20, of 1961 Broad St., died Thursday, April 16, 1998, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. J.C. Trowell officiating. Burial will be in Walker Memorial Park.

Ms. Burley, a native of Augusta, was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Barry NaShua Sanchez Burley and Ronald Evette Burley, both of Augusta; her father, Ernest Mims; her mother, Cynthia Idell Burley; two brothers, Tavanis Anthony Burley and Kareem M. Burley, both of Augusta; three sisters, Chante Renee Burley, Sandra Marie Burley and Jasmine Burley, all of Augusta; and her grandmother, Rachel Jones.

Pallbearers will be Alphonso Parks, Gregory Anderson, Larry Houston, Patrick Hornsby, Walter Houston and Ronald Robinson.

Mr. Graham Deriso Sr.

Richmond Supply Co. retiree

Mr. Graham F. Deriso Sr., 72, of 131 Springlakes Drive, Martinez, died Sunday, April 19, 1998, at Kentwood Nursing Home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with the Rev. P. James Costigan officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.

Mr. Deriso, a native of Metter, Ga., had lived in Augusta most of his life. He had retired from Richmond Supply Co. as a purchasing manager. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Irish American Heritage Society, the Irish Mafia and Council No. 677 Patrick Walsh Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Strelec Deriso; a son, Graham F. Deriso Jr., North Augusta; a daughter, Susan D. Donnell, Jacksonville, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, School Endowment Fund, 1220 Monte Sano Ave., Augusta, GA 30904.

A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. today, and the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Poteet Funeral Home, Wheeler Road.
