GRESHAMVILLE, Ga. -- Ms. Beverly Ann Edwards, 51, of 1041 Copelan Road, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at Sparta Health Care Center.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Greshamville cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery with the Rev. Durell Rice officiating.

Ms. Edwards, a native of Greene County, was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Survivors include a brother, Charles Russell Edwards, Cape Cod, Fla.

Friends may call at McCommons Funeral Home, Greensboro.

The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Ms. Sherry Giddens

Licensed practical nurse

SANDERSVILLE, Ga. -- Ms. Sherry Louise Giddens, 59, of 822 N. Pecan St., died Sunday, April 19, 1998, at her residence.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brownwood cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Ms. Giddens, a native of Harvard, Ill., was a licensed practical nurse at Central State Hospital, Milledgeville and a homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, Jimmy Giddens, Sandersville, Ken Giddens, Tennessee, and Wayne Giddens, Buford; a daughter, Diane Giddens Mimbs, Dublin; three brothers, Robert Holtapp, Sandersville, Gene Holtapp, Molena, and Lanny Holtapp, Griffin; a sister, Joan Baity, Sandersville; and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 632, Sandersville, GA 31082.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Lang's Chapel Funeral Home.

Mr. Aubrey Hartley

McKENZIE, Ala. -- Mr. Aubrey Harold Hartley died Sunday, April 19, 1998.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home, Georgiana, with the Rev. Hartley Hammac officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Bushfield cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Hartley, a former resident of North Augusta, was pastor of Garden Baptist Church. He was a veteran and a past worshipful master of Acacia Masonic Lodge, North Augusta.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Loyette; a son, Eddie Noel Hartley, Columbus, Ga.; three daughters, Debra Jean Hartley, Charlotte, N.C., Billy Jean Hartley Kernaghan, Augusta, and Shelia Diane Lee, Beech Island; three brothers, Ronnie Hartley, Lexington, S.C., Jack Hartley, Wavarre, Fla., and Steve Hartley, Andalusia; two sisters, Maybelle McIntyre, Peterman, and Nora Jean Butler, Warner Robins, Ga.; and nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms. Maxine Hopkins

Registered nurse

WHITE HOUSE, Tenn. -- Ms. Maxine Hopkins, 50, of 102 Shady Lane, died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at her residence.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hephzibah Baptist Church cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Lincolnton, Ga., with the Rev. Allen Danner officiating.

Ms. Hopkins, a native of Lincoln County, Ga., had lived in White House for 15 years. She was a graduate of Augusta State University. She was a registered nurse and worked as a case manager for the subacute care unit at St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville. She was a member of Hephzibah Baptist Church.

Survivors include her father, B. Raymond Hopkins, Lincolnton; and a brother, Ray Hopkins, Columbus, Ga.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 54327, Atlanta, GA 30308.

Mrs. Mary Hurt

Homemaker

Mrs. Mary A. Hurt, 87, of 3618 J. Dewey Gray Circle, died Monday, April 20, 1998, at Beverly Manor Convalescent Care.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road, with the Revs. Len Chavis and Jeff Meeks officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Memorial Gardens, Grovetown.

Mrs. Hurt, a native of Macon, had lived in Augusta since 1951. She was a homemaker and a member of West Acres Baptist Church.

Her family said she fought a good fight and kept the faith.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary M. Boles, Augusta; a stepdaughter, Marjorie Richardson, Tucker, Ga.; a brother, Emory Sullivan, Orlando, Fla.; and two grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren , one great-grandchild, and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Shannon Brooks, John Dickerson, Bob McAmis, Gene Standard, Charles Cowart, Julian Haddock and Bob Stady.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Morris Lemmings Jr.

Industrial hygienist

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Mr. Morris E. Lemmings Jr., 51, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Highland West Funeral Home with the Rev. Phillip Nations officiating. Burial will be in Highland West cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Lemmings, a native of Rome, Ga., was an industrial hygienist for the Department of Energy, Oak Ridge. He was a graduate of Berry College, Rome, and the Woodrow Wilson School of Law, Atlanta.

Survivors include his wife, Lucia Lemmings; a son, Morris ``Trey" Lemmings III, Knoxville; a daughter, Kimberly Lemmings, Knoxville; his parents, Morris Lemmings Sr. and Ruby S. Lemmings, Cartersville, Ga.; a brother, Dayton Lemmings, Taylorsville, Ga.; and a sister, Carolyn L. Waits, Woodstock, Ga.

Friends may call at the funeral home.

Mr. G. Pressley Rhodes

Master locksmith

Mr. G. Pressley Rhodes, 58, of 2910 Milledgeville Road, died Sunday, April 19, 1998.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, Martinez. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Rhodes, a native of Wilkes County, was a master locksmith and owned Georgia Lock and Safe. He was a member of Associated Locksmiths of America and Safe and Vault Technicians. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian Rhodes; four sons, Douglas P. Rhodes, G. Philip Rhodes, Michael H. Rhodes and Kelvin E. Rhodes, all of Augusta; a daughter, Deborah Anne Barbee, North Augusta; his mother, Mrs. John W. Rhodes, Augusta; three brothers, W.C. Rhodes, Tignall, Ga., Claude Rhodes, Lincolnton, Ga., and Robert L. Rhodes, Augusta; a sister, Ellender Brown, Augusta; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Gerald M. Ballard, Morgan Manuel, James Harris, John Harley, Donnie Williams, William Howard, Jesse Redd and J. Michael Harn.

Mr. Mark Roberson Sr.

Navy retiree

Mr. Mark F. Roberson Sr., 87, of 4358 Quail Creek Road, Martinez, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Evans First Baptist Church with the Rev. Leslie Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Memorial Gardens, Grovetown.

Mr. Roberson, a native of Atlanta, was a Navy veteran who retired with the rank of aviation machinist chief senior. He was a member and deacon of Evans First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel Hodges Roberson; four sons, Jack K. Roberson, Wrens, Ga., Mark F. Roberson Jr., Martinez, William Jude Roberson, Summerville, S.C., and Donald K. Roberson, Blue Ridge, Ga.; two daughters, Judith A. Beckham, Augusta, and Sandra L. Boatright, Mershon, Ga.; three brothers, William Hugh Roberson and Lee Roberson, both of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jack P. Roberson, Hollywood, Fla.; a sister, Bessie R. Witt, Jacksonville; and 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brian Roberson, Jamie Roberson, Stephen Roberson, Bo Boatright, Nathan Boatright, George Meehan, Mark F. Roberson Jr. and William Jude Roberson.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons and members of the adult men's Bible class of Evans First Baptist Church.

WARTHEN, Ga. -- Mr. Billy Ray Stovall, 47, of 9650 Sparta Davisboro Road, died Sunday, April 19, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Church of the Nazarene, Sandersville.

Mr. Stovall, a native of Marble County, S.C., was a welder at Stovall Construction Co.

Survivors include his wife, Shelia Ann Stovall; two sons, Billy Keith Stovall, Snellville, and Michael Lee Stovall, Sandersville; two daughters, Terlenia D. Stovall and Ashley Lynn Stovall, both of Sandersville; a stepson, Jeff Day, Lawrenceville; a stepdaughter, Cristie Hewatt, Lawrenceville; his father, Fabin Stovall, Sandersville; six brothers, Mitchell Eugene Nolan, Ronnie Carroll Stovall and Fabin Stovall Jr., all of Sandersville, Frank William Stovall and Ernie Ray Stovall, both of Winder, and Dennis Allen Nolan, Wallace, S.C.; three sisters, Bobbie Lou Brown and Elsie Faye Burns, both of Rockport, Texas, and Joann N. Martin, Sandersville; and seven grandchildren.

Mr. Travares Terry

Mr. Travares Nathan Terry, 19, of 517 Boy Scout Road, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Peoples Funeral Home with the Rev. Federa C. Henderson officiating. Burial will be at Macedonia Baptist Church, Martinez.

Mr. Terry had earned his general equivalency degree and attended Augusta Technical Institute. He was employed at Cooker Bar and Grille and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Survivors include his father, Robert Laws, Lynn, Mass.; a sister, Tia Nicole Terry, Augusta; a stepsister, Cleopatira Muhammad, Malden, Mass.; and his grandmother, Mary Laws, Birmingham, Ala.
