Mr. William Rimes Sr.

KLINE, S.C. -- Mr. William Gary Rimes Sr., 61, died Wednesday, April 22, 1998, at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mole Funeral Home. Burial will be in Barnwell County Memory Gardens cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Rimes, a native of Savannah, was retired from the Army as a sergeant first class and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He received the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal and the Vietnam Cross with Palm Good Conduct medal. He was retired from Sizemore Security at Clariant Plant, Martin. He was a member of Harmony Lodge No. 17 Masons and Jamie Shrine Temple.

Survivors include his wife, Earlean Slanders Rimes; two sons, William Gary Rimes Jr., Kline, and Darrell Glenn Rimes, Barnwell; one daughter, Donna Kay Hill, Adamsville, Ala.; two brothers, Robert R. Rimes, Kline, and Jake O. Rimes Jr., Barnwell; one sister, Patricia R. Stalker, Savannah; and four grandchildren.

Ms. Bertha Ruf

Homemaker

Ms. Bertha Teresa Ruf, 71, of 151 Fister Court, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at Columbia Augusta Medical Center.

A private memorial service was held Wednesday. Entombment services will be at a later date in the family cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery in Oberammergau, Germany.

Ms. Ruf, a native of Oberammergau, was a homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, William George Stuart, San Gabriel, Calif., Raymond A. Stuart, Pueblo, Colo., and Terry James Ferraro, Poterville, Calif.; three daughters, Waltraud Maria Schubert, Germany, Sandra Ann Smith, Rexford, Mont., and Monique Lynn Ferraro, Augusta; one sister, Johanna Verhas, Vienna, Austria; and 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Poteet Funeral Home, Wheeler Road, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Joshuway Stalling

Retiree

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Mr. Joshuway Stalling, 62, of 1340 Turner Ave., died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Northside Church of Christ with the Rev. James Graham officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Stalling, a native of Aiken County, was retired from Maxwell House Coffee Co.

Survivors include his wife, Rebie Stalling; and his mother, Francis Harrison, Aiken.

Friends may call at the residence of Louise Harrison, 1595 Gray Mare Hollow Road, Aiken, or at Cheatham Funeral Home, New Ellenton, S.C.

Mrs. Ida Still

Homemaker

BARNWELL, S.C. -- Mrs. Ida Mae Ray Still, 79, died Tuesday, April 21, 1998, in Aiken.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Mount Lebanon Christian Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mrs. Still, a native of Barnwell County, was a homemaker and a member of Mount Lebanon Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Callie B. Still and Ruby Still, both of Barnwell; six daughters, Francis Zorn, Irene Bessinger, Becky Wall, Linda Still, Katherine Still and Martha Sanders, all of Barnwell; one brother, Bobby Ray, Barnwell; two sisters, Margie McCormick and Julia Baxley, both of Barnwell; and 26 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Mole Funeral Home.

Mr. John Tillman

Savannah River Site employee

NORTH AUGUSTA -- Mr. John Albert Tillman, 52, of 4 Leonard Lane, died Tuesday, April 21, 1998, at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Jeter Baptist Church, Edgefield, with the Rev. G.L. Brightharp officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Tillman, a native of Edgefield County, was a waste management employee with Westinghouse at Savannah River Site. He served in the Army and was a member of Jeter Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Daisy L. Stevens Tillman; three daughters, Linda Herrin and Latistna Tillman, both of North Augusta, and Sabrina D. Tillman, San Diego; seven brothers, James H. Tillman, S.M. Tillman, B.R. Tillman and Bennie L. Tillman, all of North Augusta, and Joseph W. Tillman, Michael Tillman and Hezekiah Mealing, all of Trenton; three sisters, Lillie Mae Thomas and Fannie L. Simpkins, both of North Augusta, and Bertha Cain, Graniteville; and one grandchild.

Friends may call at the residence or at 1 p.m. today at G.L. Brightharp and Sons Mortuary.

Mr. John Williams

Retired firefighter

MILLEN, Ga. -- Mr. John Willie Williams, 63, of 331 S. Masonic St., died Wednesday, April 22, 1998.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Millen United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Cravey officiating. Burial will be in Millen cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Williams, a native of Jenkins County, was a retired firefighter and was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Millen United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Carr Williams; three daughters, Sue Horthone, California, Brenda Williams, Daytona Beach, Fla., and Linda Purvis, Millen; one stepdaughter, Tabatha Connors, Wrens; his mother, Annie Ree Clifton, Millen; one sister, Nell Johnston, Millen; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Michael Rabitsch, Tim Carr, Eddie Conway, Nicky Johnston, James McKinnie and Johnny Melanathy.

Friends may call until noon Friday at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home.

Mr. Charles Willis

PALM BAY, Fla. -- Mr. Charles Willis died Monday, April 20, 1998, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Cedar Grove cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Augusta, with the Rev. Hardy Bennings officiating.

Mr. Willis, a native of New York, was a food supervisor with PanAm Airlines and was a member of Thankful Baptist Church, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and the Masons. He served in the Army.

Survivors include one brother, Joseph Willis, Augusta; and one sister, Charlotte Worthy, New York.

Dr. Kathryn Chapman

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Dr. Kathryn Nelson Chapman, 57, died Wednesday, April 22, 1998, at Norton Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Crescent Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be in Cave Hill cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Dr. Chapman, a native of Crawfordville, Ga., was an assistant professor with Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where she was director of the child care center. She received the 1991 Findley B. and Lounenia Edge Faculty Award for teaching excellence in 1991 and was named the 1995 Gaines S. Dobbins professor of Childhood Education. She received her bachelor of science degree from Georgia College, a master's degree in religious education from Southern Seminary and a doctoral degree in education from St. Louis University. She was a member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include two brothers, George Terry Chapman, Fairburn, Ga., and William Chapman, Crawfordville; and one sister, Jane Chapman, Crawfordville.

Memorials may be made to the Child Development Center, c/o Southern Baptist Theological Seminary; or the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Hattie Ginn

Homemaker

Mrs. Hattie Louise Ginn, 85, of 3921 Willow Wood Drive, Martinez, died Thursday, April 23, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at West Acres Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Memorial Gardens, Grovetown.

Mrs. Ginn, a native of Augusta, was a homemaker and a member of West Acres Baptist Church, where she was a member of Senior Helping Hands. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Washington Road chapter.

The family said she was a remarkable mother and grandmother.

Survivors include two sons, Jack Tobin Ginn, Evans, and Danny Gordon Ginn, Augusta; one daughter, Linda Louise Griffith, Martinez; one brother, Lee Howard Sr., Martinez; two sisters, Lucille Edenfield, North Augusta, and Inez Roberts, Augusta; and 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Boone, Lee Howard Jr., Danny Brown, Baxley Syms, Ricky Gordon, Kenny Wall and Danny Fincher.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Helping Hands of West Acres Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Platt's Funeral Home, North Belair Road.

Mr. Edward Hatcher

Civil service retiree

COLUMBIA -- Mr. Edward Howard Hatcher, 77, of 6557 Buckfield Drive, died Thursday, April 23, 1998, at Providence Hospital.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street, with Dr. Wendell Estep and the Rev. Raymond Timmerman officiating. Burial will be in Graniteville cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Graniteville.

Mr. Hatcher, a native of Warrenville, was retired from the civil service at Fort Jackson and was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a member of Eidson Sunday School Class and served as an usher and general secretary of the Sunday school department. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion and Acacia Masonic Lodge No. 94. He attended the University of South Carolina.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Bryant Hatcher; and one brother, Cary F. Hatcher, Warrenville.

Pallbearers will be his nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Eidson Sunday School Class.

Friends may call at the residence, from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Dunbar Funeral Home, or from 3:30 to 4 p.m. at Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley.
